Move Beyond Shame by: Redefining Your Story for a Fulfilling Life
In this episode of Design Your Destiny, I delve deep into understanding and navigating the complex emotion of shame. I share how shame often originates from our perceived wrong decisions and the stories we build around these experiences. These stories often revolve around guilt, fear, and a desire for acceptance. We explored the power of identifying and addressing each of these emotions separately, and the liberating realization that shame is a self-imposed feeling. By developing our emotional intelligence, we can better understand our emotions, opening ourselves up to a more fulfilling human experience. I emphasized the importance of maintaining a state of gratitude, contentment, and peace, and shared the reminder that we have the ultimate power to create fulfilling lives. We spoke of the dangers of perfectionist expectations and the role they play in fostering shame. Free yourself from shame, and lean into a more authentic and peaceful way of living. It's about understanding our emotions, accepting our human imperfections, and knowing that it's in our hands to create a life we truly love. Leaning into the possibility of life is exciting, and sometimes scary at the same time. Do I REALLY have infinite potential? Overcoming Self-Doubt: The Journey to Trusting Yourself
In this episode, we delve deep into the concept of self-trust, its importance, and how to cultivate it. Here are the key takeaways: Self-trust is crucial for personal and professional growth. It's not something that magically appears when we achieve certain milestones; it's a skill we need to cultivate. Our self-talk and identity play a significant role in our ability to trust ourselves. Negative self-talk and low self-esteem can hinder self-trust. We are all created with everything we need to succeed. We either already possess the necessary resources or we can learn to tap into them. Making mistakes is a part of being human. It's important to learn from them and move on, rather than beating ourselves up over them. Radical self-acceptance and unconditional self-love are at the core of self-trust. Celebrate your small wins. Acknowledge the things you do right each day to build evidence that you can trust yourself. Avoid comparing your best to others or to your own past performance. Each day, aim to do your best in that day. Understand that new levels in business or life will bring new challenges. Self-doubt may creep in, but it's important to trust yourself and take those steps forward. If you're struggling with deeply held beliefs that hinder your self-trust, consider exploring techniques like hypnosis to target these beliefs. She also highlights the importance of managing environmental stress, such as sound levels and what we consume. To combat burnout, Penny advocates for prioritizing self-care, setting boundaries, and being aware of over-commitment and control issues. She introduces the power of hypnosis and breathwork to anchor in relaxation responses and reduce inflammation. Freedom & Wealth: Unleashing the True Power of Your Values
In this special edition of "Design Your Destiny," we delve into the topic of values and how they influence our decisions. Our top three to five values subconsciously drive our choices and actions. Triggers and conflicts can arise when we assign meanings and stories to our values or when they clash with external expectations. True relationships built on genuine interest and care are the foundation of a strong support system. Investing in the support we need can help us achieve faster results and overcome challenges more efficiently. Breaking Free from Limiting Beliefs: The Power of Hypnosis and Coaching
When it comes to achieving success, we often hear that mindset is everything. But what happens when limiting beliefs hold us back? These beliefs can be deeply ingrained, causing us to doubt ourselves, our abilities, and our potential. Many successful entrepreneurs have found that coaching or hypnosis can help them overcome these limiting beliefs and reach their full potential. Limiting beliefs are negative thoughts that hold us back from achieving our goals. They can be related to our abilities, worthiness, or our ability to succeed. Coaching and hypnosis are powerful tools that can help us overcome limiting beliefs. Coaching involves setting goals, developing strategies, and taking action to achieve those goals. Hypnosis, on the other hand, is a technique that involves inducing a trance-like state in order to access the subconscious mind and reprogram negative beliefs. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which can take months or even years to see results, hypnosis can produce results in a matter of weeks or even days. Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for entrepreneurs, to neutralize these negative beliefs, providing clarity and focus to entrepreneurs.

It's about creating a life that aligns with your values, passions, and strengths, and using them to contribute to the world in a meaningful way. It's about living your life on your terms, with authenticity, and without compromising your integrity. Why is Subconscious Reprogramming Important? The subconscious mind is the part of the mind that controls our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It's the autopilot system that runs in the background, and it influences our decisions and actions without us even realizing it. Therefore, if we want to change our lives and achieve Soul Satisfying Success, we need to reprogram our subconscious to align with our conscious goals and desires. Emotions come up when you begin to see things inside of yourself that are ready to be let go of and healed. By putting down the emotions around these events, beliefs, and circumstances that don't serve, you get more in touch with your soul satisfaction. It is important to reconnect deeply inside yourself to love yourself unconditionally. Achieving unconditional love of self is a journey that takes time, but when you achieve it, you trust yourself, know yourself, and give yourself permission to change your mind. How Can Entrepreneurs Benefit from Subconscious Reprogramming? Entrepreneurs can benefit from subconscious reprogramming in various ways. Firstly, by reprogramming their subconscious, entrepreneurs can overcome limiting beliefs and negative self-talk that hold them back from achieving their goals. They can replace self-doubt with self-confidence, fear with courage, and procrastination with action. Secondly, by reprogramming their subconscious, entrepreneurs can tap into their intuition, creativity, and innovation. They can access their subconscious mind's vast resources of ideas, insights, and inspirations that are not accessible through the conscious mind alone. Thirdly, by reprogramming their subconscious, entrepreneurs can align their conscious goals and desires with their subconscious beliefs and values. They can create a harmonious relationship between their conscious and subconscious mind, which will result in greater clarity, focus, and motivation. Conclusion Soul Satisfying Success is about achieving success on your terms, with authenticity, and without compromising your integrity. It's about reprogramming your subconscious to align with your conscious goals and desires, so you can overcome limiting beliefs, tap into your intuition and creativity, and create a harmonious relationship between your conscious and subconscious mind. Entrepreneurs can benefit greatly from subconscious reprogramming, as it can help them achieve their business goals, tap into their creative potential, and lead a fulfilling and satisfying life.

Quantum leaping your way to success
Creating and embodying an identity allows for a quantum leap. This involves being and taking consistent action while releasing emotions and letting go of things that don't serve us. Repressed emotions can negatively influence our decisions and slow us down, so it's important to properly address them. It’s important to work through the mental and emotional aspects of achieving their desired identity, rather than pushing things aside. Achieving a quantum leap involves creating an identity that involves consistent action, releasing emotions, and letting go of things that don't serve us. Repressed emotions can negatively influence decision-making and slow down progress, so it's important to address them properly. To achieve success, it's important to have a clear sense of identity and values, be disciplined and consistent, give to charity, and know what you want with an end point in mind. Self-Sabotage is a Myth
What is Self-Sabotage and How Can It Be Overcome? Do you ever seem to take one step forward and two steps back? Do you ever feel as if you get in your own way, even when you know what you want to do? This is known as self-sabotage. It occurs when we act, consciously or unconsciously, against our own best interests. What Motivates Self-Sabotage? Self-sabotage can come from a variety of sources. It could be a lack of self-esteem or a fear of failure. It could be an underlying belief that we are unworthy of success or happiness. It could also be a result of previous experiences in which we learned that avoiding harm was more important than taking risks. Whatever the reason, self-sabotage can be a significant impediment to success and happiness. It can cause us to miss out on opportunities and keep us from reaching our objectives. Subconscious Programming's Role Our subconscious programming is a significant contributor to self-sabotage. We may have picked up limiting beliefs and behaviors from our past experiences that we now carry with us. These beliefs and behaviors may have served us in the past, but they no longer serve us today. For example, if we were raised by parents who constantly criticized us, we may have learned that we are unworthy. Even if we are aware that this belief is false, it can still manifest in our lives through self-destructive behaviors. The Subconscious Reprogramming and Hypnosis Hypnosis and subconscious reprogramming are effective tools for overcoming self-sabotage. We can uncover and reprogram our limiting beliefs and behaviors by accessing our subconscious mind. The speaker mentions hypnosis and subconscious coaching in the transcript chunks provided as being useful for unraveling incorrect associations in the subconscious mind. This is especially useful for entrepreneurs who may have doubts about their ability to succeed. Personal Development Through Hypnosis and Subconscious Reprogramming While some people are skeptical of hypnosis or subconscious coaching, it can be a highly effective method of overcoming self-sabotage. We can identify and change the root causes of our self-sabotaging behaviors by accessing our subconscious minds. Hypnosis, for example, can assist us in visualizing ourselves succeeding and feeling confident in our abilities. It can also assist us in releasing past traumas or limiting beliefs that may be preventing us from moving forward. Speaking Kindly and Lovingly to Yourself In addition to hypnosis and subconscious programming, it is critical to speak to ourselves with kindness and love. The speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding that our self-sabotaging behaviors are protective mechanisms in the transcript chunks. We can begin to release these mechanisms by acknowledging and thanking them. We can begin to rewire our subconscious programming by talking to ourselves in a kind and loving manner. Rather than criticizing ourselves, we can empower ourselves by focusing on our strengths and abilities. Overcoming Self-Sabotage is a Real Possibility Self-sabotage can be difficult to overcome, but it is doable. We can identify and change our limiting beliefs and behaviors by accessing our subconscious minds through hypnosis and subconscious coaching. Furthermore, by speaking to ourselves in a loving and kind manner, we can rewire our subconscious programming and strengthen ourselves. Hypnosis and subconscious coaching can be especially beneficial to entrepreneurs. They can reach their full potential and achieve their goals by letting go of limiting beliefs and behaviors. So, if you're struggling with self-sabotage, know that there are powerful tools and techniques to help you overcome it.

Unlocking the Power of Your Subconscious Mind: How Hypnosis Can Help High-Achieving Entrepreneurs
Do you want to know how your mind affects the choices you make? Have you ever felt like there was a part of your mind that was working against you? You're not the only one. Many successful entrepreneurs have unconscious beliefs that stop them from reaching their goals. But with the power of hypnosis, you can tap into your subconscious mind and change your life. Understanding the Subconscious Mind The part of our brain that controls our thoughts, feelings, and actions without us being fully aware of it is called our subconscious mind. Our past experiences, beliefs, and values can affect these thoughts and feelings. Sometimes, we don't even realize that these beliefs are keeping us from reaching our goals. For example, a business owner may believe, even though they have done well in the past, that they are not good enough to succeed. This belief can make them doubt themselves and lead them to make choices that don't help them reach their goals. Hypnosis and How It Can Help Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can help you access and change your unconscious beliefs. A trained hypnotherapist can help you access your subconscious mind and explore your beliefs and values by putting you into a deep state of relaxation. Through this process, you can find the beliefs that are holding you back and change them. A highly skilled hypnotist can help entrepreneurs figure out why they think they're not good enough. By looking into this belief, the entrepreneur can change it and replace it with a positive belief that they can reach their goals. Benefits of Hypnosis for Successful Entrepreneurs Hypnosis is very helpful for successful entrepreneurs because it can help them reach their full potential. By tapping into the power of the subconscious mind, they can get rid of negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs that are holding them back. Hypnosis can also help business owners focus and concentrate better, which can help them make better decisions and be more productive. It can also help them feel less stressed and anxious, which are common problems for business owners. Five Ways to Achieve Peace of Mind
Are you ready to overhaul your life? Are you ready to align yourself with your own identity? This is a quick episode just to outline the five practices Penny uses to achieve a peaceful mind. Adopt a gratitude practice. It will change your life. Begin early in your day and start with the right focus. Set your intentions every day. Write them down if possible. List them off at least. I have a practice of self-hypnosis. Let me know if you want to learn more about how I do it. Prepare to detach emotionally from results that have no pertinent relationship to your self-worth. There is value in reflecting on results objectively without attaching your emotional reality to those results. Silence is valuable. Find somewhere inside yourself where you can be calm and quiet. Overcome fear and self-doubt
Start your vision right. Live a life free of fear and self-doubt. Your perceptive filters run constantly and dictate how you feel about experiences, making them uncomfortable or safe experiences. You may be a high-performer, achieving a lot in life. The sources of your potential fears and doubts still matter. Your subconscious constantly assesses the safety or threat of experiences based on past conditioning. A stronger self-conscious identity, more aligned with your true goals, enables you to achieve your goals with greater effectiveness and satisfaction. You don’t have to live with self-doubt. Focus on self-doubt exacerbates self-doubt. Mindfulness decreases the opportunity for fearful and doubtful thoughts. Fear and self-doubt don’t start where you think they do. Master your thoughts to achieve your dreams
To achieve your dreams, goals, and desires it means mastering your thoughts, and mastering your thoughts means you must master your attention. [00:01:08] Hey, it’s Penny here, and back with another episode of Design Your Destiny. I’ve been having a lot of conversations about thoughts and feelings and what comes first when we are dealing with our mindset. So many people, myself included I used to be one of these people, get caught up in doing all of the things that we have to do. I mean, as a responsible business owner there is a time in business where you’re juggling a lot of balls in the air, and then you are begging to build teams. Then you’re juggling becoming a leader and handing things off. Then you’re moving into refining the way in which you do things, which hopefully you’re refining the way you do things all along. But as we know there are bottlenecks that we can get into in business. When it comes to these things we can really get bogged down in following through on the actions. We can even step into a place of, you know, forgetting. Not consciously choosing, but we lose sight of our goals, and we become focused on achieving these short-term gains that get us to our goals. When we are focusing all of our attention on the reward of the short-term gain we are getting these little dopamine hits, right? It can condition our brain to continually be looking for the next thing that we need to do. [00:03:16] When we are head down in the doing of our business, all of the things that must be done, the things that must be handled. Until we get to a point where we can hand these things off. our minds can go into a state of habit. Just head down get it done, head down get it done. Sometimes when we do these things we’re in the zone, we’re in flow. Our emotional mind is pushed to the side, and we’re focused in, and things are just flowing through and we are oblivious to the world around us. But, other times we are doing things out of habit. It's just another task that has to be done ‘oh my gosh let me put my head down, let me get this done’, and when we are working out of habit we are not being mindful. When we are not being mindful our subconscious mind is running the show underneath the surface. [00:04:16] Now you may say habits are good. Habits are good things, yes. Habits are good things, but when we operate out of habit, meaning that we are not being mindful of what we are doing and our attention actually on the task. Then we actually have subconscious thoughts that run all the time. It’s like the monkeys in the circus they just don’t stop. Unless you learn to be mindful and quiet your mind. Because you can be working on something out of habit. Say it is a task you don’t like very much and you haven’t outsourced it yet, or you’re in a crunch and you're like you know what in the time it takes me, and this is actually a bad habit to have in business I know that, in the time that it takes me to communicate this, make sure it gets done, and report it back. I can just do it faster myself. So there comes a point in business when that becomes a control issue, but when you're new and you’re learning to navigate those things. It’s easy to fall into, I know because I’ve been there. I have had to force myself to step back, be patient, and hand things off unless it’s urgent. But, you know, when you're doing these things, your mind is underneath the surface, you know, ‘I don't want to be doing this’. You may not be thinking about it when you’re doing it you’re going through the motions, but your mind is going through all of these stressful thoughts underneath. Like when is the pressure going to end, how long are we going to keep doing this, right, I need some help. It creates stress and tension in our body, or the other side of that could be if you have someone on your team that was doing this before and let’s say you got burned. Underneath the surface, your mind could be going you know what I can’t find anyone I trust to do this, I can’t find anyone who speaks in my voice, I can't find anyone who is consistent and stays on task. Why can't I hire anyone good? You may not be thinking these things, but the mind is running them underneath the surface. [00:06:37] So these thoughts they are reinforcing the idea that you can’t, they are reinforcing the limitations in your mindset, in your business. Even if you have the intention to go out and hire someone, and hire a team. It might delay that decision, and you don’t even understand really why you’re delaying the decision, but it’s because you burned this story subconsciously in your mind so many times that there is a sense of you could say dread. There could be resentment from past experiences, there could be feelings of not trusting yourself to not get the right team. I would say that thought of, you know, ‘I don’t know enough to hire the right team member’. That is my notification of a knowledge gap, but if it's going into the ‘I'm not smart enough to do this’ then it is going into a self-esteem issue. So, these thoughts can run underneath the surface. [00:07:45] Now this pattern can apply to business deals, it can apply to joint ventures, it can apply to partnerships, it could apply to restructuring your business. Thoughts can run underneath the surface in regards to anything, and it can be limiting your choices in your business because you may lack the focus, you may lack the clarity, you may get the sense that something doesn’t feel right about a situation, but you don’t know why. So, you pass on it, and later you’re like ‘damn that would’ve been the best opportunity. I don’t know why I passed on that!’ and it is because whatever the undercurrent running is subconsciously it didn’t feel like a good thing to do. [00:08:49] So, if you want to get the most out of your business if you want to get the most out of your life. You must master your attention, and when you master your attention you will master your thoughts because you cannot master your thoughts unless your attention is on what you are thinking unless your attention is on what you are doing. So, that your subconscious mind is not running the show. You do not have to be a yogi or an expert on meditation. Those kinds of things to master your attention, to master your thoughts. It takes practice, it takes time, but spending that little bit of effort to notice what it is you're thinking, to observe your thoughts while you are doing a task will make a difference. Because you might be surprised to find what's running through your mind. [00:10:03] It begins to creep out into other areas of your life right? They mentioned something and they started their statement with the words “what if?”. And my response to them was “have you considered that ‘what if?’ is the seeds of anxiety? It's the fertile ground. It’s where it all starts. And they replied with “well, I thought asking ‘what if?’ was a good thing’. Like what if this problem happens, what if this doesn’t work out, or what if this integration fails? Now, to give you some perspective on this, in business we need to anticipate, right? So, whether you're someone in tech building funnels and automation, and those things. Or, you know, you’re in anesthesia, like I was, and you’re dealing with critically ill patients, or you know, you are a COO in a company and you’re rolling out something new it is your job to anticipate there things may get a little bumpy, may get a little rocky and to make sure you have things and people in place to lifeguard those areas to keep things running smoothly. Well, that’s fine in business. It’s fine to sit there and say ‘what if a client comes in at this stage and this and this what happens, what happens next, and what happens next?’ So that you can identify any breakdowns and make sure those don’t happen so you’re clients, your customers, your partners, whoever it is have a really good experience. However, if this becomes a habit and a pattern of thinking and we don’t have that awareness this “what if?” can become a pattern in our everyday life. It can become a pattern in our own interactions with people around us. In our own interactions with different situations. So, now what we are doing is future surfing, we are out here giving our brain all these made-up scenarios that are potentially unsafe, they're unpleasant. And what are we doing? We are stimulating our nervous system, We are stimulating our nervous system, and it's going to be like ‘wait a minute why would I want to go into this partnership, my god all these terrible things might happen!’ then all these feelings come up and when all these feelings come up you don’t have the clarity, and you don’t have the objectivity to make a good and healthy decision for your business. You don’t have the clarity and objectivity to make a good and healthy decision for yourself. [00:13:20] So, ways of thinking, ways of questioning, ways of evaluating things can become a habit. And that habit doesn’t stop with the business and it doesnt start with the troubleshooting. That habit will carry over into every area of your life. So, asking what if does seem like it could be a good thing because it helps you to deliver a service when you’re in the business of troubleshooting things for people and making sure things go smoothly, and implementing better systems. But you don’t want that to come into other areas of the business because it will slow you down, it will limit you. So, look at what it is that you are saying to yourself and say ‘ when I ask myself this question how is that making me feel? How is it making me feel?’ You know, is it a valid question to ask? Is the answer something that is preposterous, right? So if the answer is something that is just out of this world and makes no sense but its driving all of these feelings inside of you, you know you’re asking a very bad question. If you have to ask yourself ‘what if’ ask yourself “what if it all turns out just fine?” Right, I don’t even like asking what if. I actually discourage my clients from asking that question cause nine times out of ten when they ask what if their mind is looking for worst-case scenarios. It is looking for danger to avoid and that is because your brain is wired to survive. So this is a natural response unless you master your attention, so you can master your thinking. [00:15:12] So, hopefully, that example really comes across and it helps you to take a deeper look at the way you are using your thoughts, the way you asking yourself questions. Because, you know, once I had this conversation with this person around what if. It really began to knock down a lot of dominoes over the way they were thinking about different things. And this person, you know, someone in well versed in sales psychology, they're well versed in human response, and how important words are. But they had never stopped to think about how these words are impacting their sense of safety. And when I say sense of safety I’m saying from a brain-based standpoint. But the sense that everything is okay that they're smart enough, they’re good enough, and that things are gonna work out okay they can trust themselves. Because your self-talk, your inner thoughts that inner voice it will undermine your self-confidence, your self-esteem, and your self-trust. If you ever get into the habit of asking yourself questions that create this doubt, this worry. So, really if you want to achieve your dreams, your goals, your desires master your attention. In everything that you do be mindful. If you are reading a book, be mindful. If someone sends you a text message and you just made a cup of coffee and you’re going to pick up the cup of coffee stop paying attention to the phone for two seconds and be mindful as you pick up that cup of coffee because nine times out of ten if you bump that cup of coffee and you spill it or you dump it on your shirt it’s because your attention was somewhere else and you were acting out of habit that didn't have the full focus of your attention and you dumped your coffee on your shirt. Ask me how I know, I’ve been there. [00:17:40] Even though this episode has been short there is actually some very potent information here for you, and I would love to know how you’re able to take what I shared with you today and implement it in your life as you go about mastering your thoughts and mastering your attention so that you have the focus and clarity that allows you to just do what needs to be done in your business and to do it without being in your feelings and emotions. As we all know is what allows you to make good and objective decisions in your business as you grow it, as you scale it, and as you build those relationships that allow you to create a legacy that's something that you have always looked for. So, I would look forward to hearing from you you can screenshot this episode, you can share it on Instagram, you can DM me I’m on Facebook, I’m on Instagram, I'm on LinkedIn. I would love to know your thoughts and how this is impacting the way you approach your mindset and your life.

Fearlessly BE Yourself
What would change in your life if you could fearlessly be you? I don't mean fearlessly show up and do what you do every day, but fearlessly be the you that is authentic. The you that is what you really want. This is something that I have worked with many people on in their career, their life, and it's also something that I have experienced. Leaning into fearlessly being yourself is uncomfortable. It can be really uncomfortable. For example, one of my clients has a professional career that, it's when you spend a lot of years becoming educated. And while she has loved what she's done, it's really not her primary passion and she has dreams of creating this other business that is focused around something that she is just naturally gifted and talented at. But of course now she's in this place of how do I extricate from my one business to build this other business, how do I support myself? And on the retreat in Sedona, we were actually able to get her some clarity around some next steps because we can just become so insular and locked in our thinking without realizing it. I mean, we've all had those moments, right? Where it was like, gosh, just slap me upside the head. Like, why didn't I see this? It was right in front of me all the time. [00:02:45] So one of the things that comes up is what will people think? And, it doesn't come up directly as that. It comes up as: “Well I'm not sure what to do next”. Like there's this fear around making the right step, making the steps in the right timing, not making a mistake because, oh my God, what if you walk away from this extremely successful career to pursue this other passion, and then it doesn't work out. Well, by the end of the day she had some clarity around some options. She was no longer locked into this feeling of either or, it has to be this way or that way. She found a way to begin to do both and so that she could still benefit financially from her lucrative practice, but also explore what it would look like to follow her dreams, and she didn't have to give up anything to do this. [00:03:53] I've worked with other people who have held back on doing what they want to do so much because they're afraid that their family will be fearful for them. Will be afraid for them. So they've held back on what they wanna do most in life. Fearlessly being yourself means that you fully accept yourself, you accept your passions, your dreams, your desires, and you know that you are worthy of being successful in your own right, living according to those ideals just because you are who you. And that really scares a lot of people. And it scares a lot of people because our entire lives people have given us feedback of how good we are, how smart we are, how talented we are, whether or not we are in the right or the wrong, through their personal perception of reality in the world. When we're children, through our parents correcting us or praising us and rewarding us, we learn what is air fingers quote, “Good and acceptable behavior”. We learn that when we do certain things, we get our parents love and attention. When we don't do those things, they may not be pleased with us. They still love us and care for us. They may not be pleased with us, but that can be perceived as not receiving that unconditional love and attention. We've done something that's unacceptable. And those things become hardwired in our brain. Those responses, fortunately, they can be changed. [00:05:45] So when I say hardwired, think of being able to rewrite a hard disc. They can be changed. But if you listen to the last episode of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs when we're born into this world, we need to have a sense of safety and security and love and acceptance. That's all that we want. A child, the only thing a child wants is to know their parent is proud of them. That's love and acceptance. That's how that is perceived. And when it's something other than then it could be interpreted by a child as anything else. You know, mom, dad could be stressed, worried, not feeling well, and, normal, everyday things can be perceived as, Oh, maybe things aren't so good today. You know. So to fearlessly being able to be you means recognizing those stories, having awareness around those stories, shedding those stories, letting them go, and when there is a belief underneath, then addressing that belief to get rid of it. To eliminate any belief that there's any discrepancy, deficiency, or fault of any kind in you. Because here's the reality. When we're growing up and we're going through life and in our relationships, what other people say and think and do in regards to us. They're coming from their own stuff. Their response to us really doesn't have a whole lot to do with us. It's about their interpretations. Now, I mean, if someone's being malicious and and doing something unfair, then certainly, but still their response would be a reflection of their own experience growing up. [00:07:48] So if you want to fearlessly be yourself, if you want to step into this place where you trust yourself to make these bold moves, well, first of all, I've talked about self-trust before. I'm not gonna talk about it again, but that is a muscle that we built. So that's something separate in and of itself. But to feel comfortable in your skin is you, means shedding all the stories, the stereotypes and the perceptions that negatively influence your self talk and then you can move forward. And in the words of one of my clients be unfuckwithable. You just are. You've hit all those needs. You have your personal sense of safety. You love and accept yourself. Your relationships are improving. You have that respect. You have that self-esteem, You have that confidence and that, my friends, is where the diamond is in life, right there. Hope you enjoyed this episode. I'll catch you next week. Bye. Review last week’s episode Maslow's Heirarchy and Your Satisfaction in Life here! If you want to apply for the retreat and go on a 9 month transformative journey with me, applications are OPEN.

Maslow's Hierarchy and your satisfaction in life
Hey, it's Penny here coming you with the another episode. I am recording this during recovery from C. You can probably hear it in my voice as the recording goes on, it comes through more and more. And on that topic of health, I decided I really wanted to break down something that I know you're familiar with, but to really do, a mini dive into Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, because as I mentioned in one of the earlier episodes fulfillment is important to people. Self-actualization is important to people, and I really wanted to talk about self-actualization in terms of, how it falls. It's the peak, it's the peak of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, and that is because there are so many other things in our life that need to be satisfied. Or fulfilled for us to reach that level of self-actualization, that ultimate level. If you're listening to this podcast, most likely you are not dealing with. first two levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The foundational level is physiological needs. That is our basic “what we have to have to survive”. Air, food, water, shelter, sleep clothing, to reproduce, to carry on the species. Those are the very basic things and depending on where you are in business. You know that when people are in need of these basic physiological needs, they're less likely to invest in the things that are in the higher tiers of Maslow's hierarchy. If you're in business, there's also a chance that you have at some point in your journey experienced a deficit in these basic physiological needs. The more business owners and entrepreneurs I meet, I hear their stories about how they ended up in business because they had to find a way that worked for them to create income and to create a level of financial security that they ensure that not only do they ever enter back into a place of such uncertainty in their lives, but that their children and their grandchildren also do not ever have to be concerned about having those basic needs met, taking that to the next level. These same people, also generally tend to quietly support organizations who help eradicate poverty food and security, those types of things. Safety needs is the second level, and our safety needs comes to our personal security, employment, resources, health and property. This one, it's only the second rung on the ladder, and most highly successful people would say, Oh, this is met. However, if you're looking at your financial security, whether you're looking at it as employment or your resources, if you have fears in your business around money. If you have worries of lack, if you have concerns that it's going to run out. If you sit back and say, Oh my God, like, why can't I keep money? I am spending money faster than it comes in. I don't understand why I do this. If you have these cycles of behavior and you have these underlying fears and self-talk and thoughts, then you haven't met your personal safety needs. So then it becomes difficult to address that next tier, which is your love and belonging, your friendship, your intimacy, your family, your sense of connection. You can have a relationship, you can have a family. But it may not be all that it can be because these other fears around your personal security, your financial security impact those relationships, they impact family. I've had situations where I've worked with a client who managed to cash out on huge e-commerce business that they had built, and they had kept their wealth quiet from their family. I mean, their family knew they had a business. They knew they were doing okay, but they kept it quiet because of all the judgment from family. And then once the business sold, they decided to, basically take a sabbatical, to sit back and regroup and think about what they really wanted for them and for their family. So now they've moved during the pandemic, they've moved into this nice home, they're remodeling, and neither one of them are working. And now the family is like, what are you doing? What's happening? So their relationships were actually being impacted by their financial security. So there were some issues there with the relationship. Obviously it was the family member's problem, it wasn't their problem, except on some level, one of the reasons they have never shared with family their level of wealth was because they knew their family couldn't handle that they were wealthy and they didn't want it to negatively impact their relationships. And unfortunately, The bottom line is when we're in relationships with people, everybody brings their own shit into the relationship, their own stories, their own problems, their own perceptions of what wealth is, what poverty is. what love should look like. what's greedy, what's not greedy, all of these things, right? It's why so many people don't share their wealth and when they become wealthy, they begin to close ranks on their circle, of who you let in. And it's totally understandable. So those money stories right, can impact. , that whole sense of love and belonging if you're having issues with relationships and acceptance and whatnot. This can stem all the way from your childhood. Okay? These impressions that you get around your sense of acceptance and belonging and love. This impacts your ability to then have the next tier, which is esteem on Maslow's Hierarchy. Self-respect, self-esteem, recognition, strength, freedom. It's being able to allow yourself to accept all that you have and can't accomplish and to believe in yourself. You don't need external validation for those things you recognize within yourself, that you have the ability and the capability to create opportunities in your life for whatever it is that you desire, whatever that may look like. If you're having issues with love and belonging and that acceptance that also impacts your relationship with yourself. Now, self-actualization is about this desire to be the best version of yourself to be the most impactful person that you can be, and not from an ego standpoint, but that you're striving to be your best and you're striving. I don't wanna say do more to have a greater impact, and to feel confident in your ability to just be and to know that you're enough as you are and to allow yourself to do your best and to always do your best and to strive for that best without judging yourself for not being there yet. That is really where self-actualization comes in because when you have self-esteem, when you have self respect, when you have self love, we can reflect and recognize qualities in ourselves that need to improve without tearing ourselves down. Um, So you can be your best. You can go out and do your best all day long, but in the back of your mind, If you're struggling with this, voice, like, you know, you're going along smoothly and then it crops up again. That's, the imposter syndrome, that secret imposter, it's not good enough. You're never good enough. If people only knew you're just like them, blah, blah, blah. We've all heard it. I'm not gonna sit here and regurgitate to you what every other mindset, motivation guru out there has talked to you about. But when that inner voice is going, it becomes a glass ceiling, becomes an invisible barrier, and to not even to go and beat yourself up about that because it's human nature. It's the way our brains are wired. If you really wanna reach this pinnacle of just being at peace with yourself, inner peace is achievable. Inner peace comes from knocking down the unhealthy beliefs around your resources, your safety, your security, getting rid of all the bs, future surfing fears that you have. Creating this place where you know that you're worthy, you know that you're lovable from the inside out. It's not anything anyone can do for you, but you, create this foundation and then your relationships begin to change because when your relationship with yourself changes your relationship with others, change. Your self-esteem builds off of that. Your strength, your resilience, your freedom. You're not accomplishing things out of fight or flight. You're accomplishing things just because you simply know that you can. And you know that when it all hits the fan, because we have no control. It's an illusion. When it all hits the fan, we can take a deep breath and step back and say, Okay. we know exactly what we need to do, or we need to know the people we need to bring in, or the questions that we need to ask to make this happen. Let's do it. And yes, it might be stressful, but you're not stressed about your ability within it. And when you've reached that place, You can push a little more. You can push a little more to see what's next for you. That next challenge, because as creatives and highly successful people, we love a challenge, so long as the challenge does not become a cycle where we're constantly chasing dopamine, and that's gonna be something for another episode. So anyway, I hope you like this little mini dive. Let me know what you think. You can leave a comment below the episode, leave a review if you're catching this through the email link that we sent you. Then hit reply. Tell me what you think and I will see you nexteek.

Letting go of control creates expansion in your life
Letting go of control is going to open up your future in ways that you cannot imagine. Are you someone who craves certainty? Do you feel that you are in your power when you know what's going to happen next? I want you to think about that. What is it about needing to know what's going to happen next, or that certainty that brings you so much comfort? And I use that word comfort intentionally, because it's surprising how many people actually pride themselves on getting outside of their comfort zone, yet they grip tightly to controlling certain aspects of their life or their business. That need to control impacts everything because when things need to be adjusted, when changes need to be made, then it throws off your expectations, and it's our attachment to our expectations that create unhappiness. This need for control, this desire for control, this desire for certainty, comes from needing to be in a place that's familiar because within that familiarity is a sense of safety. [00:02:47] If you're someone who is controlling or you know someone who is controlling, what has happened is that at some point in life there was a certain set of circumstances that your brain uses a model of reality for its way of responding. So let me give you a really extreme example that might help you, understand what I'm saying? Take a woman who has been battered in a marriage. She's been in an abusive relationship. She's been there for years. She finally manages to get out of that relationship and maybe she gets back on her feet. She feels comfortable dating a few people, and let's say she meets someone who is just adorable. Someone who will truly take care of her. Someone who truly loves her, and she just abruptly walks away from that relationship. And everyone around her is like, ‘Oh my God, why would she ever walk away? This is someone who would never hurt her. They love her, they adore her. I don't understand what's going on.’ And it's because the brain, not her consciously, but the brain sees that relationship as something extremely uncertain. It can't predict. So the instinct is to activate fight or flight and to run away. [00:04:32] I know it sounds very counterintuitive, but what the brain perceives as familiar is often considered the safer option because it's predictable. It doesn't mean it's the truly safe option. So then what happens? Oftentimes, unless this person does the healing that's necessary, through therapy or whatever means, they will end up in another abusive relationship. Another example that might be a little more familiar is one where you grow up in a home and you watch your parents, you watch how they interact, and perhaps the way that one of your parents behave is not, you don't like it. Like you love them, but you don't like the way they handle relationships. So you say to yourself, I'm never gonna be in a relationship with someone who acts like, let's just say mom, never gonna be in a relationship with someone who acts like mom. And then lo and behold, you go out into the world, you get outta high school, maybe you go to college, or maybe you're in business for yourself, and you meet someone and you fall in love. And next thing you know, you realize is that you’ve fallen in love with someone who's just like your mother. And how did this happen? How did it happen? Because you swore you would never be in a relationship who exhibited these specific, personality traits or characteristic? Well, the way that it happened is your subconscious picked up on those traits. It then recognized them as familiar. It didn't matter that you didn't like them. You grew up in that environment and it's familiar to you. So the subconscious mind does that so that the sooner that you recognize that those things happen, you can curb those behaviors. Sometimes it requires some subconscious work. Not always, but that's a couple of examples of how certainty can come from some very strange places. [00:06:51] When it comes down to needing to be in control, the greatest control that you can have is the choice to actually let go. Because control is an illusion. You can't control what's going to happen next year any more than you can control what's going to happen in the next 10 minutes. And you can say, ‘Well, of course Penny, I can control what's gonna happen in the next 10 minutes on my calendar. I have this meeting and before I go to this meeting, I'm gonna finish listening to this podcast episode. I'm gonna go get a drink of water, come back, get out my notepad and pen and be ready for the meeting.’ Well, yes, you have a plan, but you can't control that that meeting is actually gonna happen. You could lose internet. If it's an in-person meeting, they may not make it to the meeting. You could trip and fall and break your wrist and need to go to the emergency room. There is zero control in life. Control is an illusion. And when you can move into the place where you realize the freedom is letting go of control, then you opened up your mind and your life to the possibilities of things you haven't imagined before. Because when you're trying to control, you are staying within your bubble... You're boxing yourself in and you're locking yourself into a certain set of circumstances by exercising control. When you can let go of that control and allow life to flow around you, opportunities, relationships, choices, come to you that you never realized you had before. They were there the whole time. You didn't see 'em because of the walls of this box or this room that you've put yourself in when you're the type of person who is holding on to control. [00:09:04] When you value growth, when you value opportunity, when you value expanding your life beyond anything that you ever imagined, then you also value letting go. Because letting go gives you that freedom. Your power is in your ability to choose from moment to moment. And yes, sometimes it feels uncomfortable, but you can't tell me as a highly successful person that you got to where you are knowing the outcome of every decision that you're going to make. It's impossible. And if you tell me that, ‘Oh, yes, I did know the outcome of every decision I made. I took a calculated risk that I'm going to tell you you took a calculated risk’, which means that you know there was no control involved. It was a game of chance. Everything is a game of chance, so the best thing to do is to just let go and to allow and to have fun creating whatever it is that you want in this life as we move from day to day. Because life is nothing more than a game. It's all about how you show up in how you choose to be in this world. And being in control is limiting what it is that you can get out of life. That's the bottom line. [00:10:40] It was one of the hardest, one of the hardest, and I hate to use the word hard as a hypnotist, you know, this desk is hard. It was one of the most challenging lessons for me to learn; to let go of control because years in healthcare, in an anesthesia, even though I could not predict what was gonna happen, it was drilled in my head to anticipate, anticipate, and anticipate. That it was my job to be proactive for my patient. So I live for a very long time needing to be in as much control as possible, because to not maintain control of that situation would put someone's life in danger. But within that, I also had to learn, I had no control because there were patients in situations and circumstances where you could do everything perfect. You could do everything beyond perfect, and whatever was gonna happen was gonna happen. And I wish that I had learned this lesson way back in my anesthesia career because then I would not have internalized and personalized a lot of things that happened that were outta my control, because I believed that on some level, I should have been able to prevent, delay or minimize when sometimes it just wasn't possible. I was about to lay down a metaphor on you, but I figure it's probably best left for, something else. But just to say that, you can only make a recipe with the ingredients that you're given and in life we can't always guarantee that we have the ingredients that we want. So then we just have to get crafty, creative, inventive, and do our best. I hope you enjoyed this episode about control. It may have resonated with you. It may not have. It may resemble someone that, you know, here's my recommendation. If it resembles someone that you know, I would not approach them with advice about it because one of the things about being in control is people are often very internally referenced, which means they may not receive that too well. So I'll leave it to you to decide how you choose to share this information. Have a great week. I will catch you next time.

Are you seeking fulfillment in the wrong place?
Are you measuring your success in a way that is creating fulfillment in your life? Fulfillment and self-actualization have become front and center in this new paradigm of business and success building, and I'm actually quite grateful that this shift has come to pass. There are still a lot of coaches, business mentors, leaders that work from the old paradigm, the overcommitment, overgiving, time and life sacrificing style of success. As with anything, it takes time for these things to pass. They do not happen overnight, but for some of you, you might be bringing those old beliefs, unknowingly into your business. If you're making career changes and pivots and have decided to create something for yourself, then even without your awareness, if this is something that you've chosen to abandon as a way of being in your business, in your life, it can show up in some surprising ways. To lead a life. to live a life where we feel fulfilled, that is what we are here to do. [00:02:37] Now, that doesn't look the same for everyone. For some people it's going to be very different. Some people, their purpose and their fulfillment in life comes from being a stay at home mom or a stay at home dad. It may come from being a physician, an attorney, a nurse, even a nursing assistant. In my years in healthcare, I worked with people who worked as nursing assistants and as hard, physically hard as that work is and physically demanding for such low compensation, that is what fulfills those people. It doesn't make the work any less valuable, any less meaningful, any less important. It's about finding that path that is uniquely yours. That fulfillment comes from the inside out. And it's interesting in some of the reading that I've been doing, how so much importance is placed upon achievement. And I can't help but wonder sometimes if this achievement and the feelings that we get associated with that success is not often confused with fulfillment. [00:04:12] When we are fulfilled in our lives, not only do we have everything that we need, we have the things that we desire, and we're living in this place of service. Whatever that uniquely looks like for you, where you are content. You're in a balance of giving and receiving. You’re in a place where, yes, you live for you, you're living your life for you, but you're not living your life just for you. If I can draw that distinction. It's not a selfish, egotistical for you. It's following your passion, your emotions, your love, your dreams in creating the impact that you desire in the world. [00:05:07] When we get caught up in mistaking achievement and the feelings that go with it for fulfillment, we can inadvertently get caught in this loop of always having to chase the next goal. And hey, I get it. You can't measure if you're a good parent. You can't measure if you're a good partner in a relationship, whether that's a business relationship, an intimate relationship. You just can't measure those things. There is not a scale for happiness. What we can measure is the number of zeros in the bank account. We can measure the size of the house, the price tag on the car, the paintings, the antiques, whatever it is that you like to invest in and collect. The revenue goals in the business. Those are things that we can measure. We can see them and we can say, “Okay, yes, I did better this year than I did last year. Yes, I did better this quarter than I did last quarter. The market adjusted here. We had to make some adjustments and we're still on target to meet our goals.” Those are things that have metrics and they're tangible. They can also give us dopamine hits. So when you're someone who's lived your entire life achieving setting goals, hitting those goals in using those as measures of success, our brain can put the importance in the wrong place and it can happen without us even recognizing it. And then we feel like we need those numbers to prove that we're still doing well. [00:07:12] Now, all that being said, we cannot stagnate in business. If we stagnate in business, our business will die. We have to always be looking at things, adjusting, maneuvering, looking at how we can grow, how can we serve differently. Maybe that involves scaling down, not scaling up. So it's important to take a step back if you feel that your fulfillment waxes and wanes, or that sometimes you're disconnected from that feeling, take a moment and reflect. Where are you drawing that sense of fulfillment from? Is it from metrics and goals met and achievements, or is that fulfillment coming from reflecting deep inside and knowing that you are making an impact, that you are doing your best, that you're showing up, you're serving in whatever way it is in the world that you serve others in, that you're having that positive impact that you desire. That's where fulfillment comes from. And if we are honest with ourselves, because this is one of the hardest things to do, is look inside yourself and be brutally honest with what you see inside. I know it has been one of the most challenging things I've ever done, is to be brutally honest with myself. Are you judging yourself? When you were looking to seek that fulfillment, are you telling yourself that what you've done isn't good enough? It could be more. It could be better. Are you comparing it to other people? Because if that's the case, then the things standing between you and fulfillment is not another goal. It's not another achievement. It's your own inner voice. [00:09:16] And when you know that, then you can begin to take some action to shift that. Because if your inner voice is antagonizing you, or it's contradicting you when it comes to these moments of feeling fulfilled or desiring to be fulfilled with all that you're putting in the world, then you have to ask yourself, “Where did that come from? Where does that come from?” And it may not always be something that we're consciously aware of. This is where those glass ceilings, the invisible blocks, the hidden imposter, it's where all of this stuff comes in. And the first step is taming that inner voice because until you tame that inner voice, it doesn't matter how many charities you fund, how many philanthropic efforts you dive into, that voice will always be there. Is it enough? Could you do more? What more could you do? And there's always more that we can do, but it's not our responsibility to do everything out there that needs to be done. If you find yourself in this place where you've achieved a lot, you're really successful, and it seems like you always have to keep going, I want you to know, it doesn't have to be that way. Most likely, there's something simply subconscious that needs to be unraveled, that needs to be released in order for you to, one, be able to feel fulfilled without that inner voice coming after you. And two, so that you can continue to achieve. But to do it at a healthy pace instead of this type A corporate hustle, hustle, hustle, 13, 14, 16 hours, work my fingers to the bone mentality because some of those habits and traits are still being taught by coaches. , Yes, you have to show up and do what you have to do. Yes, there are moments in business where you're gonna have to commit a whole hell of a lot more hours than you want to commit, but it's not sustainable to do it month after month, year after year with no end in sight. Because if you're like most people, you've gone into business because you wanna make a difference and because you want freedom. Financial freedom and time freedom. And if you've gotten yourself caught up in this loop, it is time for you to explore a better way and to break that loop. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I would love to know your thoughts as you reflect back to really take a look at where you're seeking fulfillment in your life, whether it's your business, your personal life, actually, your life is your life and your business is just something that serves you. But you know what I'm saying? Are you seeking that fulfillment from. or are you seeking that fulfillment from external achievements? Because if you're seeking it from external achievements, it will never be long lasting. I'll see you next week.

Frustrating distractions acting like a security blanket
Hidden ways that you're subconscious can distract you from doing what's really important. Penny here. I'm back with another episode of Design Your Destiny. And a few weeks ago I mentioned that I would talk about distractions. Now, sometimes distractions are pretty obvious and other times they are not. But before I explain more about what these distractions can look like, I would like to share with you where they come from. Our brain is always processing information, whether we're consciously aware of it or not. Our mind is processing millions of bits of data per second. And there's a part of our brain called the limbic system in the amygdala is a part of this network, or it's connected to it. Your amygdala, as I've shared with you before, is a part of the brain. It's the size of an almond sliver that determines our state of wellbeing. We're safe and secure, or we are in danger. Something is pleasant or it's not pleasant. A situation may be fair or unfair. It is this part of our brain that plays a major role in activating or sending a signal that results in the activation of the fight or flight response, which most people now know is the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. [00:02:41] When that response gets activated it can be on a continuum. It can be very mild feelings or for someone who experiences severe anxiety and panic attacks, it could feel like a full blown panic attack or a rage attack, right? Or a severe freeze response. So it's on a continuum. It's not black and white. There are many, many, many shades of gray of what this looks like. When we are going through our day and we're not mindful of our body and what we're feeling and what we're thinking the amygdala can alert that there is something we are experiencing that is unpleasant. We could be anticipating a meeting with a boss, or we're gonna be connecting with a family member that the last time we spoke, maybe it wasn't an enjoyable experience. Maybe there's absolutely nothing happening that we're aware of, but the subconscious mind has picked up on something as simple as a change in the tone of conversation in a room and in the past that change, a tone and conversation preceded something that ended up being an unpleasant experience, or just maybe something that was unenjoyable. I think it's very important that I highlight that, that it doesn't have to be something awful or terrible to trigger this. It can just be something that's not enjoyable, not pleasant. [00:04:21] When our subconscious mind interprets something and puts meaning on it, and our conscious mind has not yet perceived it, the subconscious mind can generate this activation of fight or flight in our body. It then begins to perceive the changes in the body. Maybe our heart rate picks up a little bit, or we feel a little tense, whatever it is that may happen, and then the brain goes, oh, we don't like when our body feels this way. So then we distract ourselves away. The subconscious mind goes, Oh, we're really not gonna like this, so let's keep this off of, i'll just do this as if it was me, we will keep this off of Penny's attention. So what might happen, say for instance, I had a call that I had to get on and I was not sure what the call was about. I'm not talking a sales call, but just, something that wasn't planned, and I have to make this call and I'm curious what the person is wanting to connect with me about. In the part of my brain, maybe, Oh, we don't want to think about this. We don't like this. Let's send Penny down the rabbit hole. And maybe there was productive work that I needed to do that's focused, but now my brain is like, Oh, you know what? The other day I was thinking about this domain name. Let me look up this domain. and then I see that the domain name is available. It's like, Oh, geez, I wonder if anybody's ever written a book by this name. So I go down this rabbit hole of doing a bunch of stuff that is not productive. It is not helpful, but it is entertaining to me. Maybe it gives me a dopamine hit, but what it does is it takes my attention off of the unpleasant feelings building in my body because my subconscious mind is anticipating what this phone call might be about. I may not even be consciously thinking about it. [00:06:36] Okay. So maybe somebody messaged me says, Hey, we need to chat. Can you connect today? I say, Yes. They say, Good. Here's a zoom link. we're scheduled, and I forget about it, but my subconscious mind could be going, Oh my God, When you get called on and you don't know what it's about, this doesn't feel safe. So it generates these feelings in the body. Now, some people, when they distract, They may think they're hungry. They can feel the feelings in their stomach and they mistake it for hunger, so they may eat. Some people may absentmindedly reach for a drink. Some people may smoke. Some people may shop. Some people may sex. Some people may work out a tremendous amount. They just feel this drive to work out. Now, those are more consistent behaviors. In terms of someone who may be driven to work out excessively all the time and that type of thing, but we can get distracted away from the way we're feeling because our subconscious mind drives us in a different direction to keep us busy enough that we're not aware of it. [00:07:50] So procrastination, watching tv, keeping ourselves overly busy, scrolling on social media, those things can all be distractions. We can even fool ourselves into thinking that we're being productive when we're not being productive. Some people will sign up for course after course and learning becomes a distraction from doing the thing that makes them afraid. So, I don't know if you've ever experienced this in your life, but one of the things that, for new entrepreneurs gets them stuck, is they get in this mode of learning, learning, learning, and they develop this false belief that they need to learn more, that they need to know more. Now, that can be attached to a lot of different things, but learning and repeatedly achieving from garnering more knowledge can create a dopamine hit, which is the opposite of the unpleasant feeling of like actually having to go out and book a client. I see it often in people who graduate from hypnosis training. They get caught in these cycles if they wanna learn more, more, more because it's uncomfortable doing something new for the first time. And it's interesting because when we're younger, we don't think too much about doing something new for the first time. But as we get older, we have more experiences in our life that can influence how we feel when it's time to go out and do something new. And most people who train to be hypnotists tend to be in their forties or older. It tends to be a second career. Not always, but it tends to be. Of course, as it's becoming more mainstream, that perception is probably skewed quite a bit. I'll be the first to admit that. [00:09:55] But we can be very successful and when we go to pivot and do something new we have these feelings come up and we begin to get distracted by things and we're like, wait, wait, wait a minute. Why did I just waste an hour or 30 minutes of very productive time, on a phone conversation that was like completely pointless than just chit chat when I could have had that conversation any other time than when I needed to be doing something productive like, Where did that come from? It can catch us off guard. So distractions can look like a lot of different things. These distractions come from the subconscious mind wanting to help us to avoid unpleasant feelings. However, what will happen is over time, if we continue in this pattern of distractions, we are going to see the consequences of that distraction begin to pile up and pile on. And then we're gonna get frustrated because we're like, “damn. You know, I used to be so focused and so productive in what the heck is going on? Like, I feel like I'm off my game. Like something's not lining up for me right here.” So if you're ever reaching a point that you're frustrated, what you wanna do is go back to what was happening when the distracting behavior kicked in and says, What was happening that I felt like I needed to distract away from it. Like what was on my agenda, what was on my calendar, what needed to be done that I was avoiding, and what was it about that thing that it felt better to avoid it than to do it. Now you're scratching at the surface. I hope you enjoyed this podcast episode. I will see you next week.

Misaligned values create resistance
Are your values really your values or is it something else? Hey, this is Penny. I'm back with another episode of Design Your Destiny, and I do hope that you joined us last week for the Aligned Identity: Turn the Inner Critic into your Cheerleader workshop. If not, today I'm touching on a little bit of what we talked about in that workshop because it is so very important, and that is your values. Most of us believe that we know what our values are, but we really don't know what our values are. Now, that may sound a little crazy and a little strange. But think about it. You've heard me talk about how we take on other people's beliefs and other people's stories. We can also take on other people's values because we've been taught it's what we should value, and that really creates all kinds of disconnects subconsciously. It creates resistance. As a matter of fact, most of the time when I work one-on-one with clients and we are doing the subconscious work and there are desired outcomes that they want, and we are working that into the process, sometimes a client will not be embracing positive changes, and they’re meeting resistance. So we will do a values exercise. Once we do the values exercise, a lot of times the thing it is that they think they want isn't aligned with their true subconscious values because they were taught that they should value something differently. Once we look at the values, then we kind of revisit , what is it that you really want, or if this is what you truly do want, how do we reframe what we're working on in a way that it aligns with your values? What are the actions that align with your values? How do you create this in a way that it aligns with your values? [00:03:17] When we take a look at our life, if we're not getting what we want our life, and we really take a look at our life, do your actions and your decisions, do those things match what it is that you say that you value? If you're not showing up in life, according to your values that you consciously think, then either your subconscious values or something else together, or you have beliefs around your values that you're attached, that it has to look a certain way. So let me give you an example, because I know this seems a little vague and nebulous. I want you to think of the value of freedom. People will become entrepreneurs. And actually I would be willing to bet that almost all highly successful people who are entrepreneurs, they value freedom. They value time freedom, they value financial freedom. It's something that's important. Now, we don't just wiggle our nose and have a life and a business that provides us an abundance of financial security and financial freedom. And at the same time, time freedom. We have to put in the time, work and effort to get there. There has to be some action taking, but some people want to become business owners so that they can have freedom. Which means they reject all structure. They reject consistency because in their mind, structure and consistency is not aligned with freedom. However, when you run a successful business, you know that consistency in structure allows you to create a healthy business. so that you are building up the foundations of something that gives you that time freedom. Now, that's not to mean that you have to put in 60, 70, 80 hour weeks every week. You can still put in reasonable hours each week, but through that consistency of action, through that structure, you're still able to build a business that allows for time and financial freedom. It may take longer, it may not take as long because there are a lot of other things that come into this recipe of creating a future , where you have this freedom. [00:06:02] But here's the other thing. It's not just people who were starting out building a business who experience this disconnect in values. It can happen at any and all stages of our life where we're having this disconnect and we're bumping up against this resistance and we're not taking the action that we know that we should take. Our values can change at any point in our life. Something can happen and we can realize, for example, you could have a life threatening illness, you could have a brush with death, and your priorities suddenly change. And on a subconscious level, your values change overnight. And all of a sudden things were going really smooth, and now it's something else. And you can't put your finger on what it is. There's a good chance there was a shift in your subconscious values and you didn't even realize that it happened. [00:07:08] So anytime things aren't going as smoothly as you would like, you're bumping up against resistance. Take a look at your values. Look at what you're doing. Do those things line up, Do your values line up with where it is that you want to go. What stories do you have around your values? What are other people's opinions of your values, and how do you really feel about those opinions around your values? You could really spend a lot of time going down this rabbit hole so that you can create what it is that you want. Our values even drive our “why” in our business. So it's important to know what those values are, whether you're bumping up against resistance or glass ceiling, or not. Whether you're stuck or not. Whether you're sabotaging or not. Understanding those values gives you an awareness that allows you to choose and change and create what it is that you want. [00:08:20] If you're ready to approach your mindset from a different angle, if you are ready to tackle the beliefs, the stories, the perceptions from a subconscious level so that you have this alignment that allows you to expand further and faster than I want you to apply for the Aligned and Expanding Mastermind. This is where you get to come in and allow yourself to change your way of looking things at a very fundamental level. To get this inner voice and turn it into your cheerleader. It is possible to have thoughts pop up in your mind of, you know, are you sure you really wanna do this without experiencing the fear. To be able to look at something objectively and make a decision without reacting out of emotion. Now, does this mean that you're never gonna feel anything again? Absolutely not. That would make me a liar if I said that. We're gonna feel our feelings around certain situations that occur in our life. We can't not feel. But the feelings that come from the inner voice can be neutralized, and that's what I'm offering to you. Is to have a space where you can move through these common obstacles that one runs into in life when you're running a business or you are growing in your professional career and giving you the space to move through these things more quickly. To leave behind what's not working so you can create something that works much better for you in your life. So if this sounds like something you want, the application link is going to be in the show notes. The bonuses for the Mastermind go away today. So if you're looking for a year long space with great community of like-minded people, please apply. Let's get together. Let's have a chat. Make sure that you and I both feel like it is a good fit for you, and let's do this. I'll see you next week. Aligned and Expanding Hybrid Mastermind applications are open.

Fearlessness, uncertainty, and everything in between
There's a fine line between the awareness that a situation is presenting uncertainty and being fearful. Hey, it's Penny. I'm back. Hope you're having a great week. Fall is here. I don't know about you. I'm loving the weather. But, as always, as seasons change, life changes, business changes, and depending on where you are in your life, where you are in your business, what market you're in, there may or may not be a lot of uncertainty in what you're facing right now. So this is pretty much a blanket episode. I'm gonna speak in generalities towards business, but this comes anywhere in your life. It applies to your relationships as well. People often ask me how to be fearless in their life. They want this fearlessness in a variety of aspects in their life. Sometimes people want to know that they can truly speak their heart, speak their opinion, and be successful in business. I largely attribute this to cancel culture, but it's not only cancel culture. A lot of times people are afraid to show up and share who they are and what they really do because they're friends and their family, some of our most important relationships. Their friends and their family may judge them. They worry about how it will be received. Now in the last episode, I was talking about self trust and how parents may tell us that certain things won't bring us success. They won't bring us abundance, and some people will set out on that path and don't want their family to know, even if they are successful, exactly what it is that they're doing because they don't wanna deal with that judgment. They don't wanna have to deal with the comments. [00:03:08] Sometimes when we become successful, especially if you have overcome a huge poverty mindset or if your family has always talked negatively about wealthy people, and rich people are awful. They're evil. All of these things. If you have worked to overcome stories from your family that rich people are evil, that it's wrong to be wealthy, that it's greedy. All of these things if , you've worked to overcome these stories. Some people don't even let their families know that they have wealth, and understandably so, because they don't wanna deal with that backlash. I've even worked with someone. Whose family once they found out how successful they were, even though over the course of several years, they had not changed one bit, they were the same person. The only thing was they did not share with their family their wealth, and then when the pandemic hit came the golden opportunity to exit their business, cash out in a very big way. And I mean, who wouldn't do that? So they were able to take a breather, take a little sabbatical if you will, bought a new home. Nothing extravagant, but the family was like, It's a middle of the pandemic. How did you buy a new home? And they're doing a little remodel and they're like, Well, you're not working. Where are you getting money? And it was like a switch was flipped. And So people wanna know, how can I be fearless? How can I be fearless about having more wealth? It doesn't matter if you're going from six figures to multi six, from high, multi six to seven, multi seven, multi eight. There always comes for most of us, this place where we feel like we've crossed a threshold that the way others view us is gonna be changing. So we hold back a little. And people wanna just be them. they don't want to have to put up a mask or pretend to be something they're not when they're with friends and family. [00:05:32] The other thing around fearlessness I already mentioned about speaking truth, how cancel culture can come into play, friends, families, opinions. Some people have just never made the really big decisions. They're coming into this place where they truly have to develop that millionaire mindset where you have to trust because you gotta make that investment in order to see things grow to the next level. And there comes a big shift in thinking about how you invest money. When you invest money. What that looks like. And people wanna be fearless around that. They don't want to be afraid to invest that money. And then that ties back in to the self trust, and the self trust simply at that point not that they have evidence that they can't do it, it's that they don't have evidence that they can, because this, decision is so different from any other decision that they've ever made before. And I'm sure you've been there where you come to this new place and you're having to make decisions that you never made before. It feels uncomfortable. Uncomfortable. There's a difference in knowing and having the awareness and the recognition that you can't control how it's gonna turn out, and being in fear and getting stuck. And this is one of the things that I will coach clients on. Like we can't eliminate your body's stress response. [00:07:23] So fear is on a continuum, at one end of the bell curve you’ve got completely safe, secure. Nothing in this world could rock me. I am solid. Then at the other end of the continuum, you have fear that is so severe that you're just like completely paralyzed, and then there's a thousand variations of fear, Degrees of fear in between. It's a whole bunch of grey. When we are doing things that are new, things that are uncertain, we are going to fire off our stress response. Most people know it as fight, flight, freeze, or fun. But anytime there's any uncertainty, we're gonna fire off that stress response and we may feel a little, uh, some little something in the pit of the stomach or “Wow, you know, I'm really not sure about this. I'm not feeling grounded in that situation”. You're like, Well, you know what? I've never done this before. I have made other big decisions that work out just fine. I know that I can trust my judgment, so let's move forward. And there's gonna be that little bit of uncertainty. There's gonna be that little bit of edge. That's normal. You can't just turn off your stress response and never have it come back. But if you're having so much fear that you can't make the decision, or you're delaying on this decision to the point that you miss the window and it's costing you money, it's costing you revenue, it's costing you clients, customers, contracts, whatever it may be, then it's a problem. And it's up to you to have that awareness, to the degree that this is interrupting, interfering, and slowing down what it is that you want in life. [00:09:16] Because how you handle these situations is about more than the impact you're having. It's about more than the legacy that you're building. It's also about how others see you responding in these situations. Because other people are picking up on your energy. They're seeing how you handle the more challenging decisions they're seeing, how you handle the high stakes moments, whatever that is for you. And they're learning from you, So fearlessness. Fearless is knowing that it's safe to be you. Fearless is about not being attached to what other people think about you. Now, that doesn't mean you can go out and be a jerk and say, Well, I don't care what you think about me. I'll be a jerk all day long. No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about recognizing that what someone else thinks of you is 100% about them and where they are in life, and it is 0% about you. I mean, unless you're the type of person that goes out, maliciously does something to people. But if you're listening to my podcast, there's a pretty darn good chance that is not you. I tend to not attract people who are malicious and malign people and that kind of thing. [00:10:44] So it’s also about recognizing that most people are so preoccupied with their own stuff in life. They're not noticing us. they really aren't. People are so caught up in their own stuff that unless they're being petty and gossipy and they're jealous, they're not paying attention. And that has nothing to do with you, your message, your value, your worth, what you are bringing to the world and putting out there. Because we came into this life to be on a journey to connect with our authenticity. And our authenticity is not that we show up on social media or we go on YouTube or, for people who, get up on stage or you're on media. It's not about going out there and being vulnerable and sharing all of the awful things or the good things or the embarrassing things that have happened in your life. You're authenticity is who you are. It's what sets you apart on the inside from everyone else. The way that you process, the way that you share your message, what brings you joy, your dreams, your desires, the way that you're here to serve the world. That's what authenticity is, and. The reason people come to me about wanting to fearlessly be themselves and sometimes not even knowing who that is, it's because they know that there's something that's not aligned with that authenticity. They just don't express it that way. So being fearless, know that if you're feeling uncertainty, uncertainty doesn't have to be fear. And the thing that can separate uncertainty in doing something new and different outside of your comfort zone and being fearful is your thoughts around it. In terms of being fearless and being yourself. It's about your willingness to separate yourself and who you are from other people's opinions, because one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. I'll see you next week.

Building self-trust in yourself to be successful in business
Is self trust something that is on your wishlist? I know that really probably seems like a strange question, but most of my clients, most of the people who join my Facebook group or connect with me have done enough inner work that they've uncovered a lot of their habits and behaviors are driven by a lack of self trust. Hey, it's Penny here. I hope you've had a lovely week. And this is a topic that comes up a lot. Where does self trust come from? Self trust comes from us reinforcing all of our wins, small and big. It also comes from acknowledging when we need to adapt and change course on a previous decision. It includes acknowledging that we have the ability, the awareness, and the intelligence to choose a new path. To make a different decision. Even to walk away from something once we realize that it is no longer something that serves our greatest good, whether it's in our personal life, our relationships, our business, our career, It's about appreciating ourselves. Sometimes when I connect with people, even though they're very successful, they say that they don't trust themselves, and I'm like, Well, give me an example. And they will say something like, Well, I just never get things right. Of course that leaves me sitting here scratching my head well, “If you never got things right, how are you as successful as you are today?” And it will be, Oh, it was luck. Or I had a business partner, or my parents left me an inheritance. Things along those lines. But it's ultimately us. That chooses what to do with those things. [00:03:23] When we lack self trust, there has been some perception in the past, whether it's accurate or not, the mind doesn't care about accuracy, it's just gonna slap a meaning on things. Your subconscious mind puts meaning on things. And it may not always be accurate. It depends on everything that is going on in a situation. To give you an example of someone who there, was a certain career path that they wanted with their life. I don't wanna go into too much detail, but there was a certain career path that they wanted with their life, and the parents were like, No, no, you can't do that. You will never make money at that. You can't do that. You need to go into business. Or, This has been more than one client. One client. It was, you have to be a lawyer or a doctor. Another client. It was, you should be an engineer. So what did they do? They gave up what they wanted to do and they went and they spent all these years in education and then into a job that they absolutely hated. They did their best. They were actually good at it, but they didn't like it. So here they are. They've been told they can never succeed at what they want, and then when they did what they were told to do, after pushing through and committed to something they absolutely did not like or did not care for. It wasn't that they didn't succeed at it, but they just literally reached a point where they could not do it anymore. I'll do a podcast at some point in the future on the impact of choosing a path that's not aligned with our heart and what that means. But I digress. [00:05:18] So now they feel like, one, they weren't intelligent enough to make a decision because their parents told them that what they wanted to do was a poor choice. And so then they did what their parents wanted them to do and they didn't excel or succeed at it or feel fulfilled, heaven forbid we feel fulfilled, it's something we absolutely hate. We're not supposed to feel fulfilled. It's something we hate. But then when they choose to walk away, now they feel like a failure because they didn't excel at what they were told should make them happy. What they told should make them financially secure. And it blows my mind at how very good intentions parents have for children can just completely negatively alter the trajectory of their lives. But now here they are. They've walked away from this career that they told they should be happy, and then they're totally lost as to what to. And I'm like, well, what did you wanna do? They told me “Oh, well I wanted to be a writer”. You wanted to be a writer? Oh yes. I always wanted to. Well, why not write? Well you know, they said, you can't make money at that. And I'm like, Well, says who? Who says you can't make money at it? One person that I had worked with had had a very specific family member that they were working on a book when they were in college and they adored this family member and says, Oh, well other people can make money writing books, but you'll never make money writing a book. And we unraveled that belief and things really shifted for her because she had air fingers quote writer's block up until that point. But what we do is, we're in this emotional state. We take on what other people are saying, and we hear it often enough that we can doubt our own choices. When we are dealing with someone that we look up to, whether it's a parent, a teacher, a professor, a mentor, a boss, a coach. When they are telling us that you can't do it your way, you have to do it my way. And you're hearing that on repeat, you're getting reinforcing messages that you cannot make a sound decision. And then when something like this happens, where you've gone into this career, now you're leaving this career and you're so disconnected from what you actually want, that you can't trust yourself to know what you want. It really impacts our choices. [00:08:11] This comes across in other ways as well. I have worked with a client who had built multiple, multi seven figure businesses, and one of those business deals went south, not financially, but in terms of the business relationships. And it ended up that they walked away from their role in that company. They, like anyone who goes into business with other people, there's a certain level of trust. When you enter into a business partnership or collaboration with someone, you feel like there's an understanding and we go into those relationships through our own perceptions and interpretations, with our own values, our own ethics. And this person thought they knew who they were dealing with and come to find out it was very much not the case. They shook it off. They moved on until something happened and there was a decision to be made. And just like that, these old feelings came up of what if this happens again? And it just came up out of the blue, like there was no reason for it and it was based purely off of that, event. So it doesn't necessarily have to be our parents, but we can get into situations where we have a single instance where we are so emotionally, and this is the key word, we are so emotionally bought into something that when it doesn't work out well, our brain is really going through the emotional consequences of the decision that we made, the situation not working out the way that we wanted in that intense emotional state. [00:10:17] If we begin to question ourselves in that intense emotional state, the seeds of lack of self trust can be planted and then that voice can come up. Lack of self trust can overlap into imposter syndrome. Not all imposter syndrome is a lack of self-trust, but when you think about it from the perspective that, If we lack self trust, then what's underneath that lack of self trust is the fear that if we make the wrong decision, there's going to be an outcome that we don't like. So that's the way that those things overlap together. One of the first things to do, just to summarize if you wanna build more self trust, is to celebrate every, when you have big and small, and that doesn't mean go out and have a glass of wine or pop a cork on a champagne bottle or, if it's in your means by a Lambo. Right? But mentally, emotionally, acknowledge yourself. Not from an ego perspective, but like, Hey, yeah, I did that. Look, look, we made a great decision. This was a great decision. Look how good this is working out. Oh wow. You know what? Great job catching that. We were able to shift course and avert a potential disaster because we were on top of it. So celebrate yourself. Celebrate yourself. [00:11:51] And if you're interested in knowing more about where these seeds of self trust can come from, how this can contribute to your inner voice, and how that can become your inner critic and create fear and self doubt when you least want it needed or expect it, then I want you to join me for Aligned Identity Workshop. Turn your inner voice into your cheerleader. It's November 1st through the fourth. It's gonna be four days, 30 to 45 minutes each day, depending on who shows up, who has questions. And I'm going to take you through a deep dive into your identity in a way that you've never done it before, and how it all ties into your inner voice, your subconscious, so you can get command of it. Imposter Syndrome is NOT necessary to be successful in business
Imposter syndrome and self-judgment are not good for your business, nor are they necessary for you to grow and evolve and scale your business, whatever that looks like for you. Penny here. I hope you are having a great start to your week. But I'm gonna be honest, I was reading something earlier this week and it really pissed me off. It pissed me off because it is misleading a lot of people. I was reading some information that was written by someone who's very influential and they were saying that not only is imposter syndrome good, but imposter syndrome and self judgment is necessary. That if you're going to be in business, that it's necessary. And this is just absolutely untrue when you understand truly what imposter syndrome is. [00:01:53] Now, right now, as I'm recording this podcast, you've probably already seen emails. I'm in the process of launching my masterclass: Aligned Identity, Turn Your Inner Voice Into Your Cheerleader. Imposter syndrome is our little inner critic. It's a little inner bitch sometimes, if you will. That is not healthy. For any highly successful person, any high level entrepreneur, business leader, in order to get to the place that we are, we know that self-reflection, self-evaluation is absolutely necessary. We have to look at our numbers. We have to be brutally honest with ourselves and see where we are. We do that so that we can adjust course and navigate what is happening in our mindset and in our strategy. But this is an objective process. When we're looking at our numbers and we're doing these things, if we start getting all in our feels and we're getting all in our emotions and we're making it feel it's something about us, that is not healthy. We can always sit there and say, well, geez, you know what, I wish I had done this differently. We always are going to have some situation, some conversation, some decision that we made where we were like, You know what, I really wish I had done that differently. We can arm chair Monday morning quarterback all day long. We all know that that's not going to change things. What's important is that we learn our lesson, we see what we didn't see before. We learn from that so that we can be more aware in the future and that we keep going. [00:03:51] But when we get into the self pity or we get into a place where we're irritated with ourselves: “Oh you went and did it again”. When we're say something to ourselves like, Well, that was a real dumb ass move. Like I could say That was the sarcasm. Wow, Penny. Well, that was a dumb ass move. And say it in jest. Or I could be like, Well God, that was just such a dumb ass move. You were just like so fricking stupid. Like, what are you, What are you doing? What did you do? You can hear the difference in those two things in our inner voice plays into that emotion, even when we're not saying it out loud to ourselves. And even when you say it in jest, you're telling your subconscious mind, even when you say it ingest, you're telling your subconscious mind, Ooh, I better watch out. That wasn't a very smart decision. And the more we say something like that to ourselves, the more we reinforce it and then our mind starts to look for our mistakes. It looks for an opportunity to make a wrong decision, depending on how often we say those things to ourself. [00:05:09] When we're having imposter syndrome that is coming from a part of the mind. The amygdala plays a role in this part of the mind that is evaluating our state of wellbeing. That evaluation comes from past experiences. What we anticipate will happen, good or bad. So whether you see the world view as your cup is half full or half empty, this definitely influences this. Your emotional state impacts it when our amygdala is evaluating whether or not something feels safe and secure, or we are in a state of wellbeing where we do not need to be on alert or concerned about what may happen, it accesses memories that we forgot about a long time ago. It's not just looking at the big things on your radar that you remember, even though those big things most likely play a role in what's coming up, those big things aren't all that is coming up. When you're experiencing imposter syndrome, there can be subconscious uncertainty and fear around a lot of things that like you never even imagined things that just would not enter your mind as influencing what it is that you're saying to yourself. [00:06:40] If you're inner voice is being snarky with you, if it's being negative, if it is triggering all kinds of emotions and resentment towards yourself, judgment of yourself, putting yourself down, feeling guilty when you know you shouldn't feel guilty, there is something else underneath the surface. Your inner voice is never, ever going to go away because we have thoughts all day long, even when we're busy and we don't notice it. We're having these thoughts. When these thoughts come up and we're aware of them. If we can just be like, Ha, whatever, and go on and have zero zero resistance or drag put on our actions as we move forward. That's just inner dialogue. That's just our little ego wanting to come out and play. And it's like, eyah, okay, go away. I got this move on. But when there's a motion tied up in it, when you neutralize the leaps, when you rewrite the stories and you can shift the interpretations around that, you can neutralize that voice and you can turn that little nagging, whining, wanting to beat up on us, voice into just the little whatever. [00:08:10] I know it's possible because I've helped clients do it. I have done it myself. I even laugh at myself sometimes. So, earlier this week I was writing some content and I was literally staring at my screen going, I have no idea what to write, which is a lie. I know that. But I was wanting to write something that felt as if it was coming from my heart, something that I'm passionate about, and I was not connecting with anything in that particular moment. And then I just laughed out loud. I'm like, this is what I meant to share, right? This is a function of my inner voice telling me that I don't have anything to say today. And I was just able to laugh it off and say, I see what you're doing. And then I wrote a beautiful piece of content off of the back of that. So, If someone is telling you that you have to live with imposter syndrome, that this is a battle that you have to fight, that it's a struggle that you will always have as an entrepreneur, I'm gonna tell you it's bullshit. It's absolute bullshit. Are there times when it might get in your way a little bit. Yeah. But if you have that awareness, then you can quickly be like, Oh yeah, look at you and what you're doing. No, we're not playing that game today, and you can quickly move on. It doesn't get in your way and drag you down and make you feel like crap. Because if you're getting that pit in your stomach and you're thinking, Oh wow, who am I to be in this room with these people? Who am I to be working with this client? Then that's something that has to be dealt with. There are definitely things that are going to be uncomfortable as we go out of our comfort zone, and we can recognize that they're uncomfortable and that they're uncertain, but we can do it without having that inner critic, that inner voice attempting to drag us down and pull us back. [00:10:12] If you are interested in knowing how to become more aware of that inner voice and to just nip that right in the bud before it becomes a problem, and to know when it's more than you can simply do on your own, and it's time to get some extra help to shift and move that out of the way,l I want to invite you to join me the first week of November the first through the fourth, each day for about 30 to 45 minutes, I am hosting an Aligned Identity Workshop. It's absolutely free. You can sign up for it. Most hypnotists disagree with me
Hey, Hey, penny here wanted to have a chat with you about, Oh, I don't know. I guess my approach, my beliefs, around working with clients. Because over the last, I don't know, two and a half years, I have caught a little bit of blow back from people around the way I do things and it's not gonna be what you think. Okay. One of the first things that I caught blowback about was basically the fact that I niched down. The fact that starting two and a half years ago. Yeah, two and a half years ago, I exclusively began to work with people who were on a transformation journey and that could look like a lot of things. My clients, most of them are very self aware. They've done the work. They know what that inner voice means. They understand that imposter syndrome isn't about the imposter syndrome. It's something different. It's something deeper, but we're not gonna go into all of that. But I really caught a lot of flack because. I started calling up some of my fellow hypnotist and said, Hey, I have somebody who wants to quit smoking. Would you like a client? Hey, I have someone who wants to lose a hundred pounds. Do you want a client? And I started referring these people out and I was admonished and said, you shouldn't refer people out. You should take care of everyone. [00:02:37] Well, I kind of think of what I do in the same terms that I think of my career in healthcare. In healthcare I specialized in anesthesia, and when I came to Mississippi, I did a lot of trauma and critical care anesthesia. So that was kind of where I focused my attention. So I look at my hypnosis practice, the same way that I looked at medicine. I work in a very narrow area, but I go very deep as opposed to, shallow and wide. If you've done any marketing, you know exactly what I'm talking about, except I'm talking about it on a subconscious level. So, I'm happy to say that there is more tendency to niche now in hypnosis, but it's not really mainstream. I would, if I had to guess, I would probably say 95% of hypnotists are generalist and 5% niche down and specialize in a specific area. So that's the first thing that really of catches people unaware. [00:03:56] The other thing is that, I don't do my hypnosis by the session. I used to and people would always ask me, well, how many sessions, how many sessions? Well, the truth is, I don't know, until we start doing the work based on my experience now, because I've niche. I can ask the questions and I can come pretty close, I'm actually pretty damn accurate actually to know if it's gonna be four or less, or if we're looking at 5, 6, 7, 8, even 10 sessions. And I have two programs, if you will, that I put people into, depending on what they're dealing with and what I think it's gonna take to solve the problem. I never make any assumptions of how many, but I make sure that we have enough time that we can dig in and do the work that needs to be done. So I no longer charged by the session I charge for the transformation. So that's a little bit different and people don't quite understand it. So that's another shift that I've made. [00:05:06] The third thing is that last year, with clients that I knew who were going to be bumping up against life situations, stressors, and that they would really benefit from the support of handling these situations, when they occurred with someone who understood these subconscious underpinnings with select clients, I began to offer some coaching as well. I was taught that coaching doesn't belong in hypnosis. You're here to do hypnosis. You're not here to coach. And my thought about that is, well, what if someone doesn't understand how to deal with day to day life stressors? Like, you know, where else is something going to show up in their life and cause a problem? Or potentially trigger them to go back to the old way of doing things. Because let's face it; when you're 51 years old, like I am, I started my transformation journey when I was 48, no 47. I don't know my own age. Isn't that funny? I feel 26, so it doesn't matter. Age is all a matter of the mind anyway. So it would be ridiculous of me to think that at age 48, I could have hypnosis and it undo 48 years of habits. Now, yes, I had a client who was a 40 year pack a day smoker who never tried to quit in her life until she reached out to me. And after one session, she was a non-smoker. And I know she stayed a non-smoker because her doctor called me for two years after I left Connecticut asking me, would I please see her clients? And I had to keep reminding her. I was in Mississippi and not Connecticut. But that lady and I actually did two sessions together, because to do a single session and to have no follow up is meaningless. [00:07:10] So, in a situation where you're dealing with the patterns and beliefs and the habits of thinking and feeling and how you respond and how you react. In five or six sessions, you cannot undo a lifetime. Can we take a big boulder and push it off the cliff and get you major transformation? Absolutely. Yes, but when I help clients get major transformation, I want them to sustain that and to build upon that progress. If we have a crisis and our default mode is to revert back to being reactive, right? It's a subconscious thing. Then without the support, we can revert back into reactive thinking instead of responding and to have someone to guide you on how to handle your emotions, how to recognize your thinking to understand how your subconscious mind, the sneaky little bugger than it is. Can have you thinking that your self talk is positive, but what you've really done is unknowingly going back into victim thinking, to have someone to show you those blind spots so that you can continue to grow instead of sinking back down into quick sand It's invaluable. And, I have had the opportunity to witness my clients over the last two to three years and see how they respond to the things that happen up and down in their life and to identify, oh, if they would just do this one little tweak, it would completely unlock everything that they're dealing with and this issue would go away, but they fall back on conscious strategies that they're taught in coaching, and there's nothing wrong with coaching, but in coaching, when you understand the subconscious and when you have the skills to go subconscious within coaching, you can rapidly build upon those shifts, which is why I’m still doing some one on one. But it's why I'm opening up a 12 Month hybrid mastermind that includes the one on one sessions, plus the coaching, plus the support of community of like-minded individuals, so that once people get that big transformation, they continue to stay on a path of making progress with someone who understands the subconscious and understands the knots that they've unraveled before, so that those things can be moved and shifted quickly. [00:09:55] It's funny to me, and when I say funny, I mean, ironic that people will have a therapist on retainer to just chat with everyday problems. They need a place to vent. They need a place to process. But what if you had someone on retainer to actually help you shift the subconscious pattern so that, that didn't keep showing up as a common occurrence for you. Because we don't have to go through life feeling the static running in the background. It's totally not necessary. If you follow me on social media, you know that I've shared a screenshot of a comment from one of my clients that we did some deep work last year, and then a few months ago, she. I guess you could call it a crisis, come up and it triggered some things for her. And she and I did one session and, this worked through one session because we had done the heavy lifting before, but she just had no reservations to message me and say, Hey, I need to move through this. I need to move through it now. And after the one session, she messaged me the next day and she's like, I feel nothing–and not, “I feel nothing” in terms of being numb, but I feel nothing in terms of the static wasn't under the background anymore, that, that constant antsy feeling that like waiting for the other shoe to drop, it was gone. That is the power of having someone who understands the subconscious on your side. She could have worked through it with journaling and meditating and all of those things. And it eventually would've become so normalized that she didn't notice it, except that she had developed a great deal of awareness after we worked together last year. [00:11:58] If you decide that you're ready to address that inner voice that cause all the fear and the doubt that leads to all the things, right? The inner voices is at the root of it. The inner voice is at the root of the fear, the doubt, the imposter syndrome, the procrastination, the people pleasing… It's all about what we think things mean and the stories we tell ourselves, If you wanna tame that inner voice, if you wanna see if you're a great fit. For the mastermind, you can apply at the link in the show notes, apply at that link, or you can apply at the link for one on one, either way. We will reach out to you and schedule a time to chat and see if it's a fit. Because, you know what, whether or not you feel aligned to work with me is just as important as whether or not I feel that you're in a place you're gonna get the greatest amount of benefit from the work that I do. Alright, I'm gonna leave it here. Have a blessed and wonderful week. go out and change the world. bye now. Thinking about the Hybrid Mastermind? Find the application here. Is one on one work something you’re more interested in, that application is here.
