#200: I Have a Full Time Job and I Also Do Some Extra Work to Earn Extra Money. Do I Need to File A Self-Assessment Tax Return With HMRC (UK)? Here’s What You Need to Know!
Send us a textHi thereWe hope your employment rights are doing the job of keeping you informed about how you should expect to be treated at work. Don’t be put off from asking questions. This week we’re into the third episode of our miniseries about the employment rights of Gig economy workers. In this episode, we clarify whether you are someone who may be in a full time or part time job, as an employee or worker, who may also be earning extra money in a gig job – and whether you will be classed as self-employed. The point of going through this clarification, is so you can decide whether you need to register for self assessment, so you can pay tax on the money you earn in your gig job. If you have questions about self registration or queries about any other employment rights matter - you can find all our support links at the bottom of the show notes for this episode; and, if you would like to book a consultation with us to look at bullying or abuse which you may be suffering at work or any other employment rights concern you may have, you can email us at [email protected]. #199: What’s the Difference Between an Uber Driver and a Deliveroo Rider? Why One Job Gets Employment Rights and the Other Job is Classed as Self Employed!
Send us a textHi thereWe hope you are using your employment rights to assert your right to be treated fairly at work. Your employers know you have a right to do this! In last week’s episode, we looked at the major differences in the employment rights, between someone who is self-employed and someone who is an employee or a worker. In this second episode of the miniseries, we focus on why the key principle of ‘secondment’ is a deal breaker for your employment rights, using the recent Supreme Court ruling that decided that Deliveroo food delivery riders are classed as self-employed whilst Uber taxi drivers are classed as workers, who now get basic employment rights. If you have questions about your employment status or queries about any other employment rights matter - you can find all our support links at the bottom of the show notes for this episode; and, if you would like to book a consultation with us to look at bullying or abuse which you may be suffering at work or any other employment rights concern you may have, you can email us at [email protected].
