Sara Dann
You're Fucking Welcome® is a podcast dedicated to helping you become the leading lady of your life and the boss of your business.
I'm Sara and over the past ten years, I've helped thousands of women start and grow businesses and now I want to go bigger.
On You're Fucking Welcome®, we're talking business, but we're also exploring the human side of entrepreneurship, having the conversations that most "normal" people are nervous to have - because you and I both know, we're not normal.
We're the kinds of women who aren't afraid to get a little uncomfortable when it comes to creating the lives we've always known we were destined to have. And we sure as hell aren't going to settle for LESS than what we want.
Whether we're talking marketing or mindset, strategy or sex, I want you to walk away from each episode truly feeling and embracing the YFW attitude - knowing that not only are people better off by buying from you, but that the whole WORLD is better off when you allow yourself to be unapologetically YOU.
You're fucking welcome. ;)

People Who Can't Afford Your Stuff + Self Awareness
Hey there! Today's episode is inspired by a question I was asked recently, about how I navigate conversations when someone says they want to work with me but they can't afford it. The short answer is that I don't. But there is a longer answer, and I hope it will inspire you to take a second look at how you're operating in your business. In this episode, I'm sharing...Why self awareness is one of the most important gifts you can give yourself in business, and how it's allowed me to sell the way I do.The basic rule of business that I always come back to.What I believe the people making the most money in their businesses all have in common.I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. Scaling Simply
Hiya! Happy Tuesday! Today I'm excited to talk to you about a few concepts that have served me well when it comes to simplifying. Unique Pairings + Standing Out
Happppy Thursday! I'm back today to talk to you about another lesson Tinder has taught me. As I've said before and will keep saying, it's truly all related. Whether it's dating, business, etc. we can apply so many of the same lessons across the board. In this episode, I'm sharing...The realization I had while talking to a friend about my Tinder bio and why that resonated with me on a business level. Why owning your "unique pairing" (and what unique pairings you desire from others) is not an option. The difference that having faith versus forcing my desired outcome has made for me.I’d love to hear from you. There Are No Villains
We hear about overnight success and we want instant shifts, and it can feel like things change in an instant, but really it’s the result of lots and lots of work. I’ve been healing a lot of old wounds and old stories with my coach and we landed on how sometimes we play the victim to the villains in our stories. Through lots of processing and meditation at my last Miraval visit, I kept repeating to myself that there are no villains. At some point, I just felt free of the villains. I saw it clearly at dinner by myself when I started to feel self-conscious about what I was wearing, but I was able to release it and accept that there didn’t have to be any villains judging me instead of enjoying their dinner. My goal is to be the support for the woman who hasn’t healed or freed herself from her villains yet, but she knows what she wants and what she’s capable of. I’m reminding myself, and you, to frequently check in and remember who you’re there for.I’m here for you! I want you to know that on the other side of the hard is a whole lot of good and you deserve to do what you need to do in order to know you’re worthy of it and access it.I’d love to hear from you. A Lesson in Talking to Others (and Yourself) So That You Can Get What You Want
I just got back from another trip to Miraval and this one was actually for personal relaxation time, not work. I say this because the amount of healing that I get from 48 hours of putting the phone away and being in nature has been so enlightening and energizing. If you haven’t gotten away in a while, make sure you do. It’s so easy to get stuck in the day-to-day hamster wheel and forget to pick your head up once in a while and the clarity you get from some relaxation will bring you more money than burnout will.Something that came up while I was processing was how I had to deal with an unhappy client at my first retreat, and something that comes up with other clients and even in dating.Speak to the little girl who’s scared and emotional - validate the emotionsAlso talk to the logical woman about steps to move forwardWithin all of us lives that scared, frustrated, nervous childlike self and finding the balance between that and the grownup can give you a lot of peace in your life.I’d love to hear from you. How to Seek Comfort in the Void
I was talking to my coach the other day and she said something that really impacted me. She said that when you’re feeling the void, the emptiness between where you are and where you want to be, allow where you’re going and what you’re meant for to be your comfort. What that means for me is that while we each have our preferred coping mechanisms to escape discomfort, it’s way better to lean into knowing what’s possible for you than it is to fall into your usual distractions. In a moment of panic, I have a trick to calm myself and feel into my purpose. On the other hand, sometimes leaning into the discomfort is the way to achieve the growth you need. I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. This Simple Commitment Will Change Your Life
I see so often in life and business how we resign ourselves to what we believe is actually true when it comes to the “rules” in or business or the chaos of daily life. We hear so often that we need to do the mindset work, but how do you actually do that??Get curious about your thoughts Make it a regular practice to check in with yourself - set a timer!Pay attention to the things that are going through your mind, especially when emotionalWhat’s really happening here? Am I actually angry or is there something deeper going on?Who says it has to be this way? More often than not, there are a lot of small changes you can make that will relieve this anxiety and make everything feel better for you. Simply commit to being the watcher of your thoughts and make little adjustments where you can so you don’t resign yourself to difficulties that don’t really have to be there.I’d love to hear from you. Women 30+ are Undateable? (And Other Things to Laugh Off)
A friend shared a video where a guy is listing off reasons why women over 30 are undateable. The ignorance is laughable to me because I’m very comfortable with where I’m at right now and his opinion doesn’t matter to me, but I’m sure that someone out there listening might see something like this and feel some doubts or panic about it. I want to guide and support you to feel less triggered and panicked about that. I have some tips to help you:Learn how to look closer at insecurities and dig deeper Build a force field around you that allows you to laugh off criticisms and meanness You get to know what you want with regards to clients and partners and anybody who doesn’t measure up, gets to fall away. People are going to have opinions and project their fears and their insecurities, but it doesn’t have to mean anything about you. Come back to having that clean, confident energyI’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You're Right. Period.
Not that you won’t make mistakes now and again, but something I say often inside my programs is that your truth is your truth. Your experience is your experience and nobody can take that away from you.Other people’s ways of doing things don’t have to be the right way for you. I’ve struggled with this in terms of my emotions and feelings and also with what I know to be true. I hope that by sharing this today you can gain some clarity.About a year ago I had a tense emotional family situation going on and I had to learn how to face my emotions. I couldn’t numb them, and it wasn’t wrong to have them. I was right to feel how I was feeling, because my emotions were valid. It doesn’t matter if someone else makes you think you’re wrong to have those emotions. You feel what you feel and that’s that. The second part of this is that really, deep down you know what you want. Before you got buried under stories and experiences, you always knew what you ultimately wanted out of life. It’s okay to hold onto what you know is true! You don’t need validation or proof to stick to your truth. Sometimes, it really can be that simple.I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! Discipline = Freedom (Version 2.0)
Back in 2017 I was on a call with a mentor and she said to me, “discipline equals freedom.” Those 3 words changed a lot of things for me and because of the shifts I’ve been feeling lately, I thought it was time to revisit the topic.Because really, it’s so much harder to overthink how to do something, or why something isn’t doing what you want, than it is to just do the thing. I’m super guilty of this, and I bet you are sometimes too. I’ve let some of my discipline slide in terms of time blocking, getting things done, and I’ve realized that I’ve been rebelling against myself. The kinder thing to do is to honor my commitments to myself rather than letting myself have the guilty pleasure of saying no.If you’re rebelling against your own schedule, look at what past experiences or traumas are coming up and making you feel like you need to rebel. Who do you want to be? Then be her. Stick to the decisions you’ve made for yourself because you deserve it.Re-examine your relationship with the word “discipline” and seek how being more disciplined can create a whole lot of freedom for you.I’d love to hear from you. REMINDER: Breakthroughs Often Come From Breakdowns
I was scrolling through Pinterest the other day and this quote popped up. “When a pattern is finally coming to an end, especially one that’s been held in your body for a long time, that’s also when you’ll face the most fear and the most resistance because being set free actually feels incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe in relation to continuing to play out what you’ve always known.” I couldn’t find an actual source for this, so if you know who I can credit this to let me know! That statement kind of slapped me in the face, in a way. I’ve told myself the same thing and experienced the truth of it many times before with relationship stuff, business stuff as I’ve discussed, body stuff, and before the uplevel often comes the breakdown. And it’s definitely uncomfortable to let go of the familiar. It can even spark a little grief or sadness to let go of who you used to be, or thought you were in order to make room for better things.Every single time I’ve had a big moment, it has been prefaced by this time of massive uncertainty, discomfort, and confusion. Our businesses, our lives, are not straight lines. There will be moments of struggle and uncertainty. I’m being transparent about it now because I don’t believe that pretending to be perfect is the way to run your business. I know that the discomfort that I’m feeling now is going to come to an uplevel and I’m choosing to embrace the ups and downs. Those moments are crucial for your growth and they’re worth it. But, you can make it easier on yourself by trying to be an impartial observer to the process rather than getting your emotions all tied up into the changes. I’d love to hear from you. Sex/Life Takeaways + Why You Deserve to Be Happier
I’ve been watching Sex Life on Netflix and the main character stands for so much of what I agree with, so I was inspired to bring the conversation to you. Societal norms have this set path of school, college, marriage, babies, staying at home with the babies and being loyal to their spouse for the rest of their lives. What has come up in the show and what I want to discuss today is that it’s okay to admit that you want more out of your life. There’s nothing wrong with that path if that’s what you want, but if that’s not what you want, or not all that you want, it’s okay to admit that you might want more than what you currently have. And it’s okay to say that out loud. It’s okay to acknowledge that you get to strive for everything you want.In my opinion, granted that there are many different circumstances around cheating on a partner, in general it comes down to not being happy in their situation, wanting something more, and looking outside for something they think they want. As a collective we’re not taught to express our desires in our relationships, business, life in general.I want to remind you today that in every aspect of your life, it’s your job to say what you want, own what you want, know what you want, and expect what you want. When you allow things to be subpar, little by little you lose yourself. You may end up getting emotional and letting resentment get the best of you when the kindest thing to do is speak your desires so everyone is on the same page.I want to challenge you in every aspect of your life to find where you can be happier, and fucking go after it. You have permission to find a workaround for the things that are really important to you. I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! Wealth Week: What it is + Why You Need One
My week got thrown for a loop and as I was sitting in the emergency vet, I ended up asking myself the same questions I asked you recently: What is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now? What would I do right now if I had a billion dollars in my bank account? The answers were immediately clear. I need a break! We all deserve a break when we need one. I’m not taking a week off entirely though. I’m going to take a Wealth Week for myself to take my foot off the gas, clean up some back end in my business, get reoriented in my business, do some brainstorming, and make sure that everything is truly aligned, touch base with my team, things like that. I don’t have an aversion to the word “hustle,” but I understand how it can start to feel like a hamster wheel. You’re not doing yourself any favors by burning yourself out.Taking a Wealth Week for myself allows me to get excited about my message and my offers again. It’s proven over and over again that it really works to slow down so you can speed up. You don’t have to stay on the hamster wheel! Get yourself a Wealth Week!I’d love to hear from you. Decision Fatigue + How to Simplify
Real talk here: a lot of us struggle with decision fatigue more than we even realize. I’m proud of my ability to see things from different angles, but sometimes it turns into a ping-pong match in my head. Back when I was marketing a lot in my facebook group, we had this formula of 6 posts a day - 2 gives, 2 give-and-asks, and 2 asks. It was never a “this formula will transform your business” thing, but when I put it together I was spending all my mental energy worrying about how many posts I had made, what else I should say, reinventing the wheel every day. It saved me to set up a process for myself to just fill in the blanks and not have to make all those decisions every day. That’s what systems can do for you too. When I decided to simplify and only sell Monday thru Friday and take weekends to recharge, I expected to make less money because I was working less. What really happened was that we made more money and more sales because I was putting better energy into my marketing and I wasn’t exhausted by it!There isn’t a magic bullet template for this, the point is just to make a decision and stick with it. Give yourself the gift of making fewer decisions, by making more decisions rather than overthinking everything and wearing yourself out without doing any real action.I’d love to hear from you. How to Keep the Faith You Can Get What You Want
My sister, a friend, and I went to see one of our favorite cover bands recently and we were talking about relationships and how chance meetings turned into much more. The common theme was that all of those people could have met earlier, but they didn’t really connect until the time was right.Point being, your job is to put yourself out there and create openings. The same thing happens with business. Yes we need to work on our businesses, but we can’t force things to come together. There is no one individual action that’ll get you all the results. Do your best with each action, but you can trust that the right people will find you at the right time. You can try to control everything to rush your desired results, but sometimes the best things come in the most unexpected ways. You can have faith that your consistent action will bring along what you’re meant for. Stick with what you know in your heart is right, and the possibilities are always available to you. I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! Neutral Vibes Only
I can appreciate the sentiment when someone says “good vibes only,” but there’s a better way to deal with frustrations. More realistically, we’re all striving for balance and the most positive way of being, but that’s not the same as toxic positivity. In those moments when we feel like our best selves, we won’t be triggered by others because we’re so secure in our own being. That’s what I mean by “neutral vibe.” When I’m feeling activated or uncomfortable, feeling non-neutral in a situation, it gives me a gauge of how far I need to go to get back to my unbothered state. There’s no reason to get too emotional when shit hits the fan. Holding this neutral energy takes the pressure off. When it comes to food, money, scheduling, decisions, it’s so easy to let the frustration fester. It’s not easy to hold a neutral vibe, but it makes everything else easier because you are so calm, collected, and confident.Of course it’s not realistic to hold this 24/7, but when you do get triggered or activated it’s easier to see what the problem actually is. I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. Let Go Of Control + Be Supported
Being supported, how to let go of control, and everything related. I want you to understand how much you are probably stunting your growth by not allowing yourself to give up some control and be supported. You do NOT have to do everything by yourself.I hear about this struggle from my clients all the time. The first point for this, and everything honestly, is you need to not only know what you want, but also own what you want. There is nothing wrong with you checking in with your gut about how you want everything to go. Acknowledging that humans are imperfect and mistakes will happen, it’s okay for you to aim for the ideal situation. Stop acting like the support you get in your life is completely out of your control. I want you to command the scenario that’s going to align with your life and your business. You are steering the ship and anyone you pay needs to be on board with you. But women, you don’t have to be cold, calculating career bitch or the Stepford mom - you can be somewhere in the middle! Don’t be afraid to be clear. The people that support you can’t read your mind. They do want to do a good job for you, but you do need to be clear in your instructions so that frustrations can’t get in the way. It’s not unkind to set expectations, but it can be unkind to let someone struggle trying to please you.At the end of the day, it’s our job to steer the ship. There’s a difference between being controlling and being in control. There’s a sweet spot between holding the vision and intentionally hiring smart, capable people that have strengths and ideas. You get to have people in your corner that you trust to open up to with vulnerability.I want you to really acknowledge and admit to yourself that those things you’re doing on your own, aren’t really easier to do on your own. Let’s be real - are you more comfortable doing things on your own, because it means keeping the control? Are you using work as a way to numb yourself to the shit that’s going on in your life? The cycle won’t stop until you choose to stop it. You have permission to acknowledge what’s going on and feel your feelings. Business success doesn't mean anything if you're not living the life you want to live.I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! Switching Gears in Business, Part 2
I’m breaking down the most important parts I want you to understand about changing things in your business. If you didn’t catch Part 1, go back an episode and listen there first!Even though my business made money last year, it was still a really difficult year and I’ve learned a ton. If it’ll save you some time to hear what I had to learn the hard way, it’s worth it!Tip #5: Stop making declarative statements. I’ve had a tendency to declare to the world how things are going to go in an attempt to keep accountable. Thing is, you don’t have to put the pressure on yourself if you change your mind later. Allow yourself to go with the flow. You’re the boss, remember?Tip #6: When you make changes, calm down and zoom out, and look at what is actually a big deal and what is not. Odds are, most of your audience won’t even notice. Pay attention to where you’re making something heavier than it needs to be. A shift doesn’t require a big production, and sometimes we can just let things go.Tip #7: Sacrifice is not required. Struggles do happen, losing momentum happens, but freaking out about is going to prolong the struggle. If you just decide that you’re going to bounce back bigger than ever, then you absolutely can do it. If you need to slow things down and take a break so that you can speed up, then that’s okay.Tip #8: The truth is, when you go all in, you win. I know that’s corny and it rhymes. When you make decisions, it’s important that you believe in those decisions and stick to them. Changes can be scary, but when you decide to do something, don’t doubt that it’ll work because it won’t. Second guessing and looking backwards doesn’t work either - the only way to go is forward. When you’ve accepted defeat, the gamechanging ideas won’t come to you. Your most important job is to believe. Believing that you can have the outcome that you want is going to dictate your actions and strategy. If you show up not believing you can have what you want, you won’t get what you want and you won’t do what it takes to get it.I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! Switching Gears In Business, Part 1
We’re diving in to all things pivoting and/or switching gears in your business. Save this episode to come back to later! Unpopular opinion: there is no “happy ever after.” It’s highly probable that you will have to switch gears in your business in order to move forward, if you haven’t already. Especially coming off of 2020 and everything the pandemic threw at us, so many businesses had to shift gears to stay afloat.I’ve put together a list of things to help you move through the heaviness, chaos, and static as quickly as possible. First, understand that YOU are the magic. Systems and techniques are great, but don’t forget that you are the person that implemented those things. If my Facebook group gets shut down tomorrow, I can still recreate the magic in a different way because I did it in the first place. For another example, you can bring the same magic you’re using in your sales calls and apply them to a different format, like your email list. My goal is that you have enough confidence to shift and know you can still be successful. Your success isn’t that fragile!Next, I want to make sure you’re not being the “creepy frat boy.” I’ve used this example before - at college frat parties, sometimes there’s the guy that graduated, but still shows up to the parties. It’s clear that he’s outgrown the situation, but he’s refusing to let it go. Don’t be the person who has outgrown what you’ve done when it’s not as big as you need it to be. Another metaphor for this is a big fish in a small bowl. It’ll feel like it doesn’t fit anymore. We can’t stick around for things that aren’t benefiting us. It may sound callous, but you have to be selfish when it comes to your business. Of course, honor what you’ve promised, but you do have to put yourself first. If you keep accepting what you don’t want, you’ll keep getting what you don’t want. That’s a big thing. It affects everything. The longer you allow something to feel heavy, the longer it’ll be heavy. You are the one in charge here, and you can let go of the things you’ve outgrown. But also, you don’t have to throw everything out!I want you to understand how important it is to pivot purposefully, rather than out of fear. What I’ve seen happen often is people being so used to the chaos that once things are moving calmly, they think it’s a problem and look for ways to fix it. Make sure that you’re not trying to fix what isn’t broken! If you’re throwing things out, do it because it’s the loving thing to do for yourself, and do it strategically.I want you to understand that you are allowed to change your mind. As an analytical person, I change my mind a lot because I’m constantly analyzing every single situation. Again, I’m not saying not to honor your obligations. What I’m saying is it isn’t worth wasting all the time and energy it takes to try to figure everything out way in advance. There’s a lot that you can’t know until you experience it, and it’s perfectly fine to change your mind about things. As long as nobody’s getting hurt and you’re honoring the people you owe something to, you don’t have to feel flaky or wrong about changing things up.But whatever you do decide, own it so that you’re able to stand solidly in your decision when you get some pushback. Don’t get stuck doing something you don’t want to do. You are allowed to grow, evolve, and learn and therefore you are allowed to change your mind. If you’re here, you’re committed to growth. Embrace it and own it so you can move forward so much more quickly!I have 4 more points to share in the next episode, so stick with me!I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! 39: How To Make Decisions From the Right Energy
Call me Zen Sara. I just spent some time at a resort and spa where I did everything from floating meditation to getting a psychic reading, without devices, just allowing myself to reset and get away from the hamster wheel. I’ll be putting together a retreat back there in July so, listen for details on that. When it comes to business and life stuff, the decision you’re making isn’t really the most important part. The most important part is who you are when making that decision and the energy that decision is coming from. I find myself in one of 3 modes: I’m either harshly “mothering” myself to do things because I feel like I have to, or doing things because it’s the loving thing to do for myself, or lastly, fuck-it-all rebellious mode. Just recognizing which mode I’m in helps me to know who I am when making decisions. Am I pushing myself in an unkind way, am I being kind to myself, or am I in rebellion mode in a way that doesn’t actually help me? We are hearing so many mixed messages about every decision we make. When you are doing things from the place of loving yourself, it shows up positively in almost every single way, including finances. I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. 38: How to Trust Yourself Faster
I have always liked having structure and steps to follow, but where my business is at right now, I can trust that my actions will bring the results. It doesn’t have to be so regimented and controlled. As my business has grown, I have so much more faith in myself than I used to. I can trust now that when I do what I want within my aligned inspiration, it will benefit my business positively in one way or another. What I want for you is to have enough trust in yourself that if you do the things, the results and momentum that you want will happen. I give you permission to take action in a way that feels fulfilling and good to you, even if you don’t know exactly how it’s going to work out. The real goal is to trust yourself faster. Be able to simply decide what you want, take the action to get it, and trust that it will happen. The first step to trusting yourself faster is to drop the emotions when it comes to making decisions for your business. Using a clean, intentional, strategic viewpoint will be much better for making good decisions. Sometimes we need to zoom out, look at the big picture, and be honest with ourselves. A quick question to reset yourself is, “if there was $1 billion in my bank account, what would I do right now?” If you don’t really want to add more clients at your current offering, your energy won’t be there and the clients won’t come. If you’d rather launch something new if the anxiety wasn’t there, then the joy and excitement will bring more people in.The second tip I have is to do your best to stop seeking validation. There’s a big difference between asking for input from someone you trust, who knows your business and whose opinion you value to move forward, and just asking for validation on whether your idea is a good one. Too many opinions can pull us in too many directions and we fall down a rabbit hole. The better way is to decide how you want things to go, anchoring in that, and trusting yourself. The last part about trusting yourself faster is making the decision, then refusing to look back. Treat it like roadkill - you can’t resuscitate it, there’s no going back, it’s done. You can’t be on both sides of a line. If you’re straddling the grey line with wonky energy, your results will be wonky too.The more you trust yourself, the easier it’ll get. And don’t forget to watch for the “non-scale” victories, not just the income!I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! 37: Anxiety - What I Find Helpful For Coping
I've been struggling with some anxiety this past week. I was going to record a different episode, but I felt that it would be more helpful if I came and spoke to you as I'm struggling with this myself. I usually talk to you from the other side of a victory, but that's not it today. The first thing that really helps me is that I do my best to surrender to it. When I feel like that elephant is on my chest, instead of trying to fix myself, I instead try to be compassionate with myself and let myself feel the things. The second and third tips work together. I say this a little aggressively because it's important: get the fuck off your phone! When I'm having an anxious moment, the last thing I need is more information. I feel so much better when I’ve actually removed social media apps from my phone. Also, turn off your notifications! Unpopular opinion time: it’s probably not critical that you check your phone first thing in the morning. Even in your business, it’s probably better to just take some time in the morning to wake up before you check everything.I highly recommend finding tools and tricks to allow yourself to put the phone down. I’ve found that I can set a timer and some music on the phone, and not touch it while I’m cleaning up at the end of the day. I also got an alarm clock I love, so I can leave my phone to charge in the other room and not have to grab it first thing in the morning. I bought a little mp3 player and a voice recorder for the same reason, to be able to go for a walk with some music or leave myself a note without being tempted to just Google something, or check that notification. Something else that has helped me is just allowing myself to play. I literally dance (badly) around in my apartment and paint (badly) just to reconnect to myself. If I can allow myself an hour of childlike play, without responsibilities, I’m able to do much better work the rest of the day.I’m not a doctor or therapist and I know your struggles are different from mine, but I hope that something I said helped you, even just a tiny bit.I’d love to hear from you. 36: Should You Try To Be Relatable?
A while back, a certain influencer went viral for a video she posted where she announced that she doesn’t have any desire to be relatable to her audience. Her other offensive remarks and actions aside, I’ve been dying to address the relatability piece. While it’s important to have a connection with your audience, you should never have to dim your light just to make them feel better! I would be doing you a disservice to dim down what I’ve created so that you feel less able to do what I’ve done.I feel like there’s a trend of talking about money in order to break the stigma, which is fine, but always make sure you are doing it in a way that brings real value to your people. My goal, and yours may be too, is to make you feel like you can do what I've done. I do talk about my wins and my challenges, not to make light of anyone else’s struggles, but to give you hope that it’s possible for you. You may have challenges that I don’t have, and I don’t intend to diminish that at all.I don’t think it’s my job to be relatable. It’s my job to do what I’m good at, do what I want, and help people create a better life for themselves.Imagine 20 years from now, if everyone was pursuing their goals and sharing their success with authenticity. What a shift that would be!I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. 35: Scaling to 7 Figures - Strategy Shifts That Helped It Happen
Strategy is my thing, and last year threw everything for a loop. Our business model had to change, and that’s what we’re talking about today. First thing: Simplify. In order to get to the next level, I believed that it had to be a specific, complicated way. When I tried that, those are the times when I was the most lost. I was in this cycle of doing all the things I could do, but I didn’t want to do them all and I needed a time out. No cycle stops until you make it stop! Doing more does not mean more money! Do less stuff and better stuff. The month I calmed down about doing all-the-things was the first month we had a 6 figure month. Coincidence? Nope! You can’t force inspiration, and if you’re making yourself miserable doing a billion different things, the inspiration won’t come. Double down on what is working and keep serving the people you want to serve. The next thing we focused on was what was going to give us the biggest bang for the effort. You can’t do all the things, so what is worth it to do? Not every program idea is viable. Last year, the only idea that we went with was our affiliate program because it aligned with what was worth it for us and worth it for our clients. The incentive to share the program exploded my audience and it’s a high lifetime value because those clients went on to hire me for more programs. This may not be the sexiest or most popular idea, but we put a big emphasis on payment plans. I want to make what I’m doing generally accessible. I like watching the payments roll in months after the launch because we were able to get more people signed up. More and more people would then continue to go on to the affiliate program, or another program, or 1:1. We win so much more than we lose that way. There’s no reason to fear not getting paid all up front when it’s easier for more people to say yes.How can you simplify? How can you double down on what’s working? What can you put more energy into because it’s working? How can you rethink the rules you’ve set for your business? Question your beliefs and maybe you’ll open up to a small shift that opens up more possibilities.I’m having so much fun with texting! 34: How To Hack Your Confidence
As a businessowner, do you create rules for yourself? Social media in the morning, record podcasts on Thursdays, don’t work on weekends, whatever. There’s something to be said for systems and routines, but today, I give you permission to flow with the inspiration. If you are super fired up with an idea for a podcast, what’s the point in waiting until your self-scheduled recording time? Coming back to some of those ideas later can just suck the excitement out of it. You started a business to be your own boss, right? Do all those rules really need to be there? You’re Fucking Welcome was born from a need to teach women how to gain more confidence in their businesses, but here’s a secret - 99% of things I’m not completely confident in. Confidence isn’t overnight - you get to be terrified of certain things, but you don’t get to lie down and give up. Don’t get stuck in the way it’s “supposed” to be done when you can work around it in a way that’s more authentic to you and how you’re going to do things. You get to do things your way!I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. 33: Million Dollar Personal Shifts I Had in 2020
We had a million dollar year last year, even during the world basically shutting down. One thing that I've come to realize is that all we really have is the now. In order to really live in the moment, I've had to distance myself from the past and quit putting experiences through the filter of the past. Everything changed when I decided to take action and make decisions based on who I am now, not who I used to be or who I'm not yet. You don't have to play out stories from your past. You also don't need to know 10 steps in the future in order to take action now. I am my best self when I'm freeing myself from the pain of the past and the anxieties of the future - and you get to make that choice too! Let the CEO of your business be the person you are in this moment. For the first time in my life, I've allowed myself to feel and heal a lot of things. As a result, I've been a more compassionate person as well as stronger with my own boundaries.Another thing I learned to do was to acknowledge how far I've come, particularly with my body image. I've come so far, and so have you. Most of you listening have a personal brand and marketing yourself and your services or products come from how you feel about yourself. I've also gotten better at speaking up for myself and standing up for things. This may surprise some of you, but I've been dampening myself in order to fit in with situations and allow problems to build up and fester. Before long, it's all too much and I blow up. By allowing that frustration and resentment, my actions were affected and I was making less money.Release the responsibility of anticipating other peoples' feelings. It wastes so much energy worrying about whether you've messed up, or someone is upset with you. On one hand, try to do your best to do right by people, but in business, it's their responsibility to address the situation if something isn't right. It's not fair to expect people to know how you feel, but it's okay to treat them like grownups and hold them to the same standard as yourself.I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going. 32: Welcome (Back) to You're Fucking Welcome
I’m back! I’m so excited to be back podcasting, and a lot has happened since I last spoke here. I didn’t mean to take so long of a hiatus, but it just didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel exciting or purposeful until I went through a lot of self discovery. I really got to know myself over the last year and as a result, I had the best year of my life in a lot of weird ways.Getting stuck at home kinda forced us to face ourselves and deal with shit that we’ve been avoiding. I ended up hiring a life coach and I got to know myself on a much deeper level and allowed myself to be who I really am. I’m a different human being than I was a year ago. Really working on myself also exploded my business in some deep and significant ways and I want to share it all with you.“You’re Fucking Welcome” came about kinda accidentally. When you’re rooted in authenticity, believe in the way you’re showing up, of course you can say, “You’re fucking welcome for the opportunity to pay me.” It’s a confident, authentic attitude that doesn’t allow you to dampen who you are.The first piece of why “You’re Fucking Welcome” is important:I want to give you permission to make money doing what you love. It sounds cheesy, but if you are anchored in your truth, you can make a bigger impact in the world and live life the way you want to. Being happier with your work allows you to be a better partner, businessowner, parent, all of it. If you’re doing right by your people, nothing bad happens when you get paid. The second part of why I’m doing this:You’re fucking welcome to be yourself. You can, and should, apply this attitude and confidence in all areas of life. It’s not a defensive attitude, it’s more neutral. You don’t like me? Okay. I like who I am. It’s okay to not want to fit in with people you don’t like. It’s okay to own imperfections, and we’ll talk about that in another episode. The third thing this podcast stands for:You’re welcome for talking about this. Small talk is the worst. But, I live for the deeper conversations that are really meaningful and impactful. I want to talk about the uncomfortable stuff because we, as entrepreneurs, don’t have to do all this alone. During our time together, I want to guide and support you in feeling confident in who you are. I’m not doing this to make money, or because of a launch. I’m podcasting again because it fulfills the hell out of me! I’d love to hear from you. Like really, you! You can text me at 848-257-5301 to say hi, let me know what you’d like to hear, and get a great conversation going.
