He thinks a new friend of Leroy is a bad influence, Leroy is not studying but then a ray of sunshine! Leroy discovers Babs, that sweet girl next door (or across the street). Here's the low-down, somebody's gonna jump, see, news photographers gather, a guy gets in the way of their pictures and the cry of 13 + 8 goes out. What does that mean? Well, that's the yell that they customarily use when someone tries to get in a picture so they can be in the news. This warning lets all the photographers around to be on their guard for the photo-bomber as it's known today. OK, fine, only trouble is that the photo-bomber has disappeared from everyone's picture! Wha hoppen? as Ricky Ricardo would say. Quiet Please knows.

Welcome to a Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 266 Bing Crosby Shortie Show edition! It's almost New Year time and for Bing today it's small and large creature talk time. Sounds Like Radio has an all new Christmas Special Volume 11 for you. It's our 3rd new Christmas show because The Great Gildersleeve featured 3 different Christmas shows in 1951 & so do we. Gildy tries to smooth things over but for Leroy & Babs, his new girl, they are overjoyed with their gifts. Leroy got that Christmas tree selling job so he had money to splurge on Babsy. We've been listening to Great Gildersleeve's this year from 1951, following each week till lo and behold this month and December of 1951 were in sync. Gildy did 3 different Christmas specials in '51 and so we'll have 3 different Christmas Specials here too. This is the 2nd Christmas '51 show from December 19th of that year and the 3rd Christmas Gildy show of '51 will be on our 3rd Christmas Special Volume 11 & it's coming right around the corner. Today we find Gildy wanting to buy his girlfriend Paula just the right gift. But what could it be? Gildy is inspired finally and knows. It's the traditional Christmas episode they did each year but every time they did it it was always just a bit different. Shep talks about how when he was a kid discovering a very interesting magazine called "Spicy Detective"! Even I remember as a kid seeing Spicy Detective at the News Stand. I may even have peeked. You're in for a goody originally heard in 1971. Sounds like it could have been recorded this afternoon.

Your Humble Host once again brings you down those rain soaked streets to join Philip Marlowe in another action packed mystery. From February 12, 1949 it's the "Adventures of Philip Marlowe" back on the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 250. Episode "The Lonesome Reunion" has Marlowe hot on the trail of the loot from a bank robbery, but that's just the beginning of this wild episode. I'll tell you more in my introduction.

It's time for Sounds Like Radio Volume 151. On today's November 7, 1951 Great Gilersleeve we find Marjorie & Bronco are feeling crampt and want to buy a house of their own. Now the only problem is money. What to do, what to do? Ahh, Your Humble Host has come up with a solution (thanks to Birdey). It's a fun show today as we get to hear from Bob Hope, Julie London, Bing Crosby & Peggy Lee duet, Doris Day, Elvis Presley, Rosemary Clooney & a classic biggie from Mario Lanza. The Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 246 brings back an old favorite, The Whistler! Today the Whistler sees that justice is done as he rings out "Notes In The Night" as it was originally heard June 27, 1942. Your Humble Host realized it's been much too long since the Whistler has puckered out a tune around here. Bring on The Whistler!

From the Library of Sound Volume 244 Your Humble Host brings you Quiet Please and a neat little story called "Inquest" as it was originally heard August 3, 1947. An unusual tale we played once at Halloween time, but it's not a Halloween show.

From a tape I recorded on February 25, 1975 it was originally broadcast live though on Janurary 15, 1974. It's a good thing Shep ain't around to see how low things have gone since.

Today on Sounds Like Radio's Volume 148 of The Great Gildersleeve we find the Gildy family visiting Judge Hooker for his yearly reunion celebrating the first time Hooker brought Leroy & Marjorie over to Gildersleeve for him to adopt. Judge Hooker invites Leroy to stay for the week-end as he has no kids and is all alone. Leroy ain't thrilled at first but agrees to cheer up the Old Goat as Gildy calls him. Now Your Humble Host has a few guys and gals here to lend their voices on this situation. It seems Marjorie has decided out of the blue to get a job and leave them little babies of hers to Bronco and Birdey and Gildy. Oh my, babies now for the whole family to watch while Marjorie is out "finding herself" as the say in today's parlance.
