Exciting News!  Hopalong Cassidy Comes To Sounds Like Radio's Library of Sound Vol. 21 for the very first time!  Fun and great action await as you ride with Hopalong and his pal California in this episode called "Death Paints A Picture" from 6/4/50.   These are exciting stories of western lore.  Hoppy started in movies then to radio and finally his own TV show.   He was a very very popular cowboy star of the '40's and '50's who was known for selling all kinds of Hopalong merchandise to kids, belts, hats, pistols, mugs, cereal bowls, chaps, shirts, underwear, spoons, plates, you name it Hoppy sold it.  I'm sold already on listening to Hoppy on the radio!  Now if I could only get a Hoppy mug.  You'll love hearing Hopalong laugh, it's my favorite part of every show.

Sounds Like Radio’s Library of Sound opens up with Volume 19 and reveals a classic Philip Marlowe detective mystery!  This was Raymond Chandler’s 2nd Marlowe novel & our 2nd Marlowe story featured on the Library of Sound.  It’s a by the book adaptation of a classic story, and that’s the type Your Humble Host likes. Join us as we travel down those lonely rain soaked streets headed for trouble, that’s where we live as we say Farewell My Lovely.

The Vast Library of Sound Volume 11 opens up once again and out pops a classic Raymond Chandler-Philip Marlowe story, The Big Sleep. A true classic based on an all time great Chandler book. A radio version here based closely on the original book. You won’t be sleeping the Big Sleep when you hear this Library of Sound edition from Your Humble Host.  Be on the look-out for danger when you go down those rain soaked streets with Philip Marlowe.  One thing's for certain, before it's over someone will be sleeping The Big Sleep.

Vol. 10 of The Vast Library of Sound is back with a Classic Nero Wolfe mystery: “Disguise For Murder”. An actual Nero Wolfe book by Rex Stout come to life in a Sounds Like Radio Special Presentation!  One of my favorite detectives is here with a radio adaptation of Rex Stout’s story. I’ve read all the books now you can hear the radio shows.  “Disguise For Murder” can be found in the Rex Stout Nero Wolfe book “Curtains For Three”. Do yourself a favor and read it in the "Curtains For Three" book after you hear it! 

Episode 60 sees the Great Gildersleeve sleuthing after a mysterious girl on a bus from 5/4/49. Your Humble Host sees the singing greats stop by as Gale Storm’s Lucky Lips get us going along with Carson Robison’s beautiful life, Laurie Anders and her wide open spaces, Bing Crosby’s wine, Jo Stafford’s awaiting a ring, Jimmy Dean loves to sing while eating breakfast and Dinah Washington is so comfortable today she takes her shoezies off. Episode 59 finds the Great Gildersleeve (4/27/49) still in the detective mode, this time he’s searching for his honey’s stolen jewels!  And as always some really neat music as Your Humble Host features Detective TV show background music all the while Shirley Bassey loves her diamonds (a new great mix here), Arthur Tracy wonders where, Julie London tells us of her best friend, Frank Fontaine (Crazy Gugenheim) likes a new wedding ring, Bing Crosby is around the corner & Billie Holiday doesn’t know whether she wants furs or violets.   It's an exciting & fun Sounds Like Radio in store for you today!

In Episode 58 of Sounds Like Radio we find the Great Gildersleeve (4/20/49) now becoming a detective at a haunted house. It’s detective time with classic detective music and Robert Mitchum himself sings how to pick a wife, Jo Stafford loves the autumn, Orson Welles displays what he knows of life, Bob Manning sees a change, Blossom Dearie’s wings, Bing Crosby’s haunted heart & even Roy Orbison tells us what not to do when you’re a detective in a haunted house.   Lot of good stuff here and in every episode of Sounds Like Radio.  

Another selection from your Humble Host's Vast Library of Sound, this is Vol. 8.   On November 18, 1974 I was there to record this classic Jean Shepherd radio show just for you (little did I know at the time).  Jean Shepherd, narrator and author of Christmas Story the movie, well long before that diversion Jean Shepherd was only The best radio story teller around.   Jean Shepherd was at his very best when he was on the radio.   Today I have another sample for you of a Shep show with a great story I first recorded in 1973 and then again on 11/18/74 and now it's your turn to experience Shep doing what he did best, not movies or TV, but radio.   Listen.
