Here's something unusual from Your Humble Host.  There aren't many radio shows with Henry Fonda but here we not only have Henry but he's on the great Bing Crosby Philco Radio Time Show.  From May 12, 1948 enjoy the fun Bing and Henry have on this neat Philco show on the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 351.

This Sounds Like Radio is bubbling over with waterlogged excitement!! The Great Gildersleeve is worried about a new water specialist showing up in this 1/26/49 classic episode.  Water though was never more musical as Sounds Like Radio shows us here. There's the watery music from Grandpa (Walter Brennan), Julie London (as depicted in this week's picture) & Bing Crosby provides the protection from being soaked.  While Dean Martin prefers wine, Helen Ward says Not For Me, Emmylou Harris will become a Wayfaring Stranger & even Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme show up Side By Side. Wowzers, is this a show or what?  OK, now all you have to do is enjoy!

Jack Benny is back on the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 348 as Jack and neighbor Ronald Colman go to the races. As heard on March 6, 1949 Your Humble Host is happy to bring you today's Benny. Today’s Sounds Like Radio Volume 72 is kind of special.  What we have is a really nice story of how Gildersleeve tries to provide Marjorie a little tenderness as her Mother might have.  Marjorie is missing a mother in this touching November 9, 1949 episode of The Great Gildersleeve.  Keeping this in mind we provide you with music all about Mother and what it means. Doing their part for Mom are Bing Crosby, Shirley Caesar, a speaking Stan Kenton, Rosemary Clooney, Burl Ives, The Shangri-Las, Danny O'Keefe & Jo Stafford.  A very special show today on Sounds Like Radio Volume 72, we hope you'll enjoy it too.

Get set to Climb Every Mountain, well, at least one, "Old Stone Face" with Gildersleeve and Mr. Bullard.   It's Volume 110 today of Sounds Like Radio featuring a November 8, 1950 episode of The Great Gildersleeve with Gale Gordon & Willard Waterman.  These 2 would later work together in the Dennis The Menace TV show that came a few years after this Gildy show. Willard Waterman played the grocer, Mr. Quigley in Dennis The Menace and also played Gildersleeve in the TV version.   And to bring out the best in every episode of Sounds Like Radio we have some mighty sweet music as always both before and after Gildy.  Today Your Humble Host brings you a Teresa Brewer STEREO version of one of her hits,  Bing Crosby is here to dream, but not of White Christmas yet, then Crazy Gugenheim drops in on Your Humble Host to sing a little ditty as Frank Fontaine, the effervescent Jaye P. Morgan sings a lovely from her alluring album the cover of which you can see posted next to our show this week-Vah Vah Vah Voom, David Allyn a singer new to Sounds Like Radio but not to our library sings a ditty you may be familiar with, and the wonderful Helen O'Connell is in the mood to slow it down in her musical selection.    We even get to take a break and sip some Campbell's soup with a call back to Lassie. Your Humble Host is back with this week's summertime feature, the Bing Crosby Show. Today from January 8, 1947 we'll hear Mickey Rooney & Peggy Lee joining with Bing for some good fun and some mighty fine singing. It's the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 339 and now it's Bing Time!

It's Volume 84 of Sounds Like Radio and in this February 22, 1950 show the Great Gildersleeve wants to be President of the Jolly Boys just so he gets to travel to a convention.  He's sure the rest of the Jolly Boys can't wait to unanimously elect him.  Uh huh.  Enjoy the fun in this show along with our great traveling to a convention music with Frank Sinatra, Joni James & Bing Crosby.   Then we throw out the rulebook and play music with no theme at all except it's just some of my favorite sounding songs of all time.   Hear the wondrous voices of Julee Cruise, Roy Orbison & LeAnn Rimes.

It's time for Volume 107 of Sounds Like Radio and we're having a lot of fun today. We've got some songs that may not be the most delicate to those of ever so sensitive feelings but what the heck, they're great songs and we are the only place you'll hear them.  Today's Gildersleeve show from October 18, 1950 we find Gildy worried about getting fat.  Well, we're here to help out with our wonderful selection of fat and not so fat songs and even some very nice and kinds songs of encouragement.  Also some kindly words from Your Humble Host on the subject to all those in the battle of the bulge.  (And I include myself.)   Today lending a helpful voice will be Bing Crosby & Peggy Lee in a duet, Eydie Gorme, Arthur Godfrey, Ella Mae Morse (today's featured picture for our show), Jimmy Dean (he just wants a biscuit) & Ted Lewis tells us where we should all be.  I know where I'll be, listening to today's show for a few laughs, some good tunes and a little seltzer down your pants, least it's dietary.

The Whistler has returned to the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 331 and he's hot and bothered. From August 22, 1942 The Whistler today features "Death Has A Thirst". On a desert island there's a triangle affair where madness & drunkenness run rampant. Your Humble Host ain't worried this is a perfect setting for The Whistler to take care of business!

Your Humble Host invites Sherlock Holmes back to the Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 332 to look into the case of the Engineer's Thumb. This was originally heard May 17, 1960. It's another goodie here based on Arthur Conan Doyle's original story. You're gonna like it.

It's Summer Vacation for the Great Gildersleeve on Volume 142 of Sounds Like Radio. It's Gildy's last broadcast of the 1950-51 season as Summer vacation time hits. Here's a show that I still remember doing and was one of my favorites as it featured great music with the accent on the piano. All kinds of great and unusual songs involving the piano, from a beautiful instrumental to a our favorite singers with great piano accompaniment. This was one I personally enjoyed.

Today on the Library of Sound Volume 323 Nero investigates the "Death of A Demon" heard originally on April 3, 1982. This is just one of the many original Rex Stout Nero Wolfe short stories. You can read all about it in the book "Homicide Trinity". But for now, it's time to listen to Nero Wolfe.

The Saint had a bet on the fight but is now told to call it off. Somethin' ain't right with the boxer it's up to The Saint to figure it out. You know, things is gettin' a bit crowded.

Ahh, to be alone with your sweetheart! That's all Marjorie and the newly returned Bronco want BUT. Gildy and Leroy were all set to go fishing then they got the news Bronco was coming back. Try as they might, Gildy just doesn't take a hint when our young lovebirds try to convince Gildy & Leroy to PLEASE GO FISHING. It's a funny Great Gildersleeve from May 14, 1952 today on Volume 172 of Sounds Like Radio. Your Humble Host has brought along some mighty fine singers and songs for you too. Joining us will be Jaye P. Morgan in a neat stereo song, Louis Armstrong & Bing Crosby, Martha Tilton, Hoagy Carmichael, a bit of jazz from Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker & Bill Evans, Jo Stafford sings like a bird, and the great Leon Redbone walks around. Bing will even do an encore of one of his best songs from my favorite Bing album. Now that's what I call a show.
