I think it’s so important that I pause to address this concern, because it may be the thing that’s preventing your from taking your side hustle to that next level. Ep 41: How to Create Your First Online Course

Ep 41: How to Create Your First Online Course

Today, we are going to get into one of the most common side hustles out there: creating your own online course. Nowadays, it seems like everyone and their mother has an online course. From how to grow your social media pages to how to build your first app, you name it, online courses are extremely prevalent these days. Even Shonda Rhimes has an online course! It’s nothing new, online courses have existed for a while now, what’s new is the abundance of technology and plug and play platforms out there, so the barriers to entry have really decreased and so anyone, literally anyone can create a course. You can use easy to replace templates and have your own school up online in no time. Now, you might be wondering, well…why is everyone creating courses, should I? Is this a viable side hustle? Well, the reason it’s such a popular revenue stream, is because with an online course, you can package your knowledge and create a funnel, so that you’re constantly getting students and have a passive stream of income in your business. But hold on, before you think creating an online course is easy peasy, there are many steps you need to take before you can get your course to be a passive and consistent money maker. Today, I’ll get into: How to know what your online course should be about How to setup your online course How to record your content How to price your course How to market your course Listen on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher and Google Play Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss Announcements Important Announcements: Side Hustle Pro is now over 1500 members strong and the group is growing by hundreds each week. EP 39: Why You Need to Focus on One Side Hustle At a Time

EP 39: Why You Need to Focus on One Side Hustle At a Time

Former Side Hustle Pro guest Maya Elious shared that the number one thing she would tell any entrepreneur is to niche down. After her episode, a few people in the Side Hustle Pro community talked about how illuminating and critical this advice was. But a few people commented that it was hard for them to niche down, because they were worried about putting themselves into a box. Or to be labeled as one thing. That got me thinking about how too many times, we are scared to niche down and narrow our audience, because we are actually trying to focus on too many side hustles at once. On this episode, I get real about: Why trying to be a Janelle of All Trades leads you to be a master of none Why you need to choose a lane The fact that it’s hard to do more than one thing really well, especially if you are still working on being excellent at one. And definitely if you’re still side hustling. Real life examples of people who are known for many things...and the secret to their success How focusing on one side hustle at a time gives you more time to target the right audience HOW to choose the lane for you   Links mentioned in this episode: Oprah’s tough start with the OWN network Diddy’s leaves restaurant business Listen on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher and Google Play Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss Important Announcements: If you’re interested in growing your business and brand using the powers of Instagram, register for the MASTER THE GRAM mini course. Ep 22: What I Learned At The Signature CEO Conference That Every Entrepreneur Should Know

A bold decision to pitch myself for an opportunity landed me right next to my business idol. In early 2016, the Signature CEO conference landed on my radar as it was on the list of appearances CurlBox Founder and CEO Myleik Teele had on her website and it was right in my neck of the woods. Initially, I thought a conference specifically tailored to wedding and event planners would not be relevant to me. But when I took a closer look at the agenda, I realized the knowledge that would be shared would be both valuable and applicable to my own brand. I brainstormed ways that I could contribute value to the conference organizer and pitched myself to cover the conference as press. On today’s episode, I get into: Why you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take Myleik Teele’s social media strategy gems to take your business to the next level Why Shea Radiance Founder Funlayo Alabi wants us to dare to be different How Personal Finance Coach Dominique Broadway leads entrepreneurs to financial greatness Wedding Planner Tiffany Chalk’s strategy for selling your value not your price   Listen on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher and Google Play Links and people mentioned in this episode: Signature CEO conference Perfect Planning Myleik Teele 1000 True Fans Dominique Broadway Funlayo Alabi Tiffany Chalk Dan Kennedy   Show notes from this week's episode: SideHustlePro.co Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss   Important Announcements: I’m updating my Mastering The Cold Email templates. Ep 20: From Starting a YouTube in her Bedroom to 1M Views on Facebook: Evelyn from the Internets

Evelyn Ngugi is a Kenyan-American YouTube sensation literally blowing up the internet right now, and she can even count Beyoncé (yes, Queen Bey) among her fans (but we’ll get into that story on the episode). What’s it like to amass a huge following on YouTube and Facebook organically while you’re still figuring out your long term plan? On today’s episode, Evelyn shares how she balances being a popular YouTube and social media sensation with a regular 9to5 just like you and me. She is an example that even with a growing side hustle, we're all still just figuring it out as we go, and that’s OK. On this episode we discuss: Evelyn's “system” for developing and publishing content How she’s grown her brand organically, without actively trying What it’s like to have your work singled out by Beyoncé herself! Why monetizing content on the internet is easy, but monetizing in a way that is sustainable is a different ball game Why it’s important to differentiate what you enjoy doing and want to make money from, and what you actually want to do for a full-time job Why you should get out there and explore your gift, even when you don’t have it all figured out  Links mentioned in this episode: Evelyn’s YouTube Channel Beyoncé Played My #Lemonade Video On Tour & You Can #StayMad  Austin While Black Show notes from this week's episode: SideHustlePro.co Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss   Important Announcements: Side Hustle Pro has a buzzing Facebook group! Ep 19: How Rejection Led Me To Be A Side Hustle Pro

Ep 19: How Rejection Led Me To Be A Side Hustle Pro

A rejection from Google was the best thing that ever happened to me. Two years ago I was an MBA intern at Google. I didn’t get the offer. Dejected, I refused to talk about it, unsure of how to unpack the experience. On today’s episode I’m sharing why that experience, along with other “rejections” were really blessings that positively fueled my side hustle mission. Here are just a few nuggets from this episode: Google’s ‘No’ led me to my ultimate purpose: inspiring people to live unboxed and without apologies Failure is an event, not a personality trait Failure taught me to stop waiting to be chosen and instead choose myself Everyone should start a side hustle, even if you don’t want to be a full-time entrepreneur Links mentioned in this episode: The Beginner's Guide To Being Awesome by Brandon Carter Side Hustle Pro Facebook Group   Show notes from this week's episode: SideHustlePro.co Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss   Important Announcements:If you listened to last week’s episodes, you know I’m gearing up to release the exact email templates I used to land even the most hard to reach guests. Ep 17: Mastering The Art Of The Cold Email

Ep 17: Mastering The Art Of The Cold Email

On this episode, I'm sharing the art of reaching out to potential collaborators, customers and clients via the cold email. While many of many of my guests are people I know or have met, 50% of the women I interview on my podcast were complete strangers before I reached out to them via email. In this episode I’m sharing the art of writing enticing cold emails that get responses. Here are some of my key tips:   Preparation Do your research - Google, social media Consider what’s in it for them Eliminate words like, “pick your brain” from your vocabulary Keep a Google doc with your email templates and tweak for each individual outreach Revise as you learn what works Start a Template Document Make sure every person you reach out to knows why you appreciate their work and the value  the collab would bring Be prepared to GIVE before you get Make it EASY for them to collaborate. Propose dates and times (hello, Calendly!) and offer to work around their schedule. Luvvie is is a writer, digital strategist and creator of entertainment and humor blog AwesomelyLuvvie.com. As a fellow writer and avid blogger, I’ve always been inspired by Luvvie’s journey to full-time entrepreneur. She started her blog after peer pressure from friends who recognized her talent. Now Luvvie is getting ready to debut her first book, called I’M JUDGING YOU: The Do Better Manual, which is available on September 16 (or earlier if you pre-order). Ep 7: How to Explode Your Social Media Audience With 5 Steps And Zero Dollars

Ep 7: How to Explode Your Social Media Audience With 5 Steps And Zero Dollars

The number one question I get asked is how to leverage social media to build a brand. When people ask me this, I know that they're really searching for a quick and dirty shortcut to get thousands of followers without having to put in a lot of work. Well I hate to break it to you, but there's no way to build an engaged social media audience without consistent and authentic effort. With over seven years of professional experience as a social media marketing strategist, I've learned firsthand the challenges that come with trying to keep up with changing platforms and algorithms. If you want to be successful in social media, you have to abandon the 'I want to make something that will go viral’ mentality because that's not how it works. On this episode, I'm providing a detailed blueprint for how to grow an active and engaged social media following. I'm going to go over step by step what I've done to grow my own social media accounts and I'll provide a full checklist of resources to measure and grow your social channels, but don't worry, you don't need to take a lot of notes because I've created a downloadable freebie for this episode. So if you go to sidehustlepro.co/episode7 you can see the show notes from this episode and get the FREE step by step checklist for the Side Hustle Pro Social Media Toolkit. My special guest on this episode is Muoyo Okome, Founder of Daily Spark Media & the Daily Spark Entrepreneur Community, who details how he was able to grow his account from a little under 600 followers to 25,000 in less than a year by studying his Instagram insights. He used the data on the most liked and most commented posts to plan his content strategy and explode his social media audience.
