Do You Listen When Your Intuition Speaks?

Do You Listen When Your Intuition Speaks?

In this episode, I want to talk about the power of listening to your intuition and do you trust it to let it guide you?  Our intuition is our internal compass, it is sending us signals to what to say yes or no to, what to follow and what to stay away from.  I have had so many experiences in my lifetime where my intuition has spoken to me, and now that I understand more of my human design, this makes so much more sense. The problem is that our intuition rarely “makes sense”, so expecting it to make sense only blocks it further. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Learning to listen to your gut, your intuition before your head speaks. Too often we listen to our head because we are trying to figure out all the moving pieces, how it will look, or work out, and we will never have these answers. 2) Learning to ask the questions and build a relationship with your intuition.  It is your guide or compass that is trying to speak to you and show you which things to say yes and no to, what opportunities to follow and how to build the trust within your intuition.  3) I am sharing a personal story of how my intuition spoke to me recently and what is going to unfold because of choosing to listen to it. Who Is Doing Your Programming?

Who Is Doing Your Programming?

In this episode, I want to talk about your programming and who is in charge of it?  So many times we fall into the space of being a victim of our circumstances, feeling like we don’t have a choice with what is happening or we are feeling this constant push of not working enough, giving ourselves criticism for taking downtime and working with our brain that is always onto the next thing. We are actually being the thief of our own peace.  Comparison is the thief of joy, yet we tend to be the thief of our own peace by not calling attention to the programming that is going on in our thoughts. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Our thoughts are only part of the problem.  It is our words that we speak that create the emotions that we feel inside of our bodies and these emotions keep us stuck.  When we catch ourselves with our thoughts, it is creating a mantra or something in the moment to draw awareness to it, and to release it without judgment, shame or criticism. 2) Can you recognize when you are sabotaging your own peace or joy, and bring it back to the gap and the gain.  Choose to stand in the gain, compare your current self to your past self and then release the expectation of the outcome. Our expectations are literally killing or stopping us from experiencing joy in our lives.  This is the fruits of all of the work we are doing. 3) You are ultimately in charge of your programming, and it is owning the fact that you have years of undoing to be aware of. You will always slip back, and when self care or boundaries are at their lowest, this can be more challenging. The Missing Piece Of Celebration

The Missing Piece Of Celebration

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on learning to celebrate our “failures” not just our wins.  Failures (whatever definition you give it) are part of the equation and you will never build a business without some major flops, mishaps and mistakes.  It will never happen.  Plus combine the fact that you won’t be the same person in 1 month, 6 months or 1 year, so what works today is not guaranteed to work tomorrow.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Social media is a highlight reel and it is a snapshot in time of where you currently are at this moment.  It does not give justice to the hundreds of steps that got you to where you are today.  And where you are today, won’t get you to where you will be tomorrow. 2) Share your missteps, your lessons, the challenges you overcame etc. because you are normalizing all the messy steps in between for others.   You are showing them that it is possible for you to. If you can’t look back at something you released 6 months ago and feel somewhat embarrassed or laugh at your mistakes, then you waited too long to release it. 3) Failure only has the meaning that you give it.  That is it. Carrying around the baggage from your past is literally blocking you from reaching all that is available for you in the future.  Your future depends on you choosing to let it go and not carrying it. Choose to Be the Bigger Person

Choose to Be the Bigger Person

In this episode, I share some on choosing to be the bigger person, especially when we are being pushed in a way that is against your values, who you are and what you stand for.  We can always choose how we respond. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  The social media space can really push buttons.  Pay attention to how it makes you feel, who is on your feed, what you are consuming. When it doesn’t feel good, what do you choose to do? Learn how to respond vs react. 2) The haters, the negative comments and people, are always there.  They aren’t going anywhere. Send them love back, block, delete, move on, and don’t let them stop you from being who you are meant to be.  3) Respond with compassion, your behaviour always speaks volumes about you, and the same goes for someone else. Be sad for them, for someone to take time out of their day, to come to my profile, to drop negative or nasty comments, where are they at in their life?  Join the HOW Methodhttps://www.marshavanw.com/thehowmethod Join the Rising Leaders Collectivehttps://www.marshavanw.com/rlcm Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker, and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. The Meaning You Give the Fear

The Meaning You Give the Fear

In this episode, I share some thoughts on the meaning that we give to our fear.  “F-E-A-R: has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours.” — Zig Ziglar “Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it.” ~ Tony Robbins.  Fear can be our guidepost, our compass that something is so big for us that it gets overwhelming or we allow the overwhelm to take over.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  When we are stuck in fear we are fearing the worst.  We are prepping and planning for the worst thing to happen, and we go to the absolute worst-case scenario, when in fact it is a scenario that rarely happens.  Where do you allow your mind to go when the fear shows up? 2) When fear shows up I check-in.  Am I feeling called to do something out of lack or because I know it can expand me?  If it is the expansion and I am stuck in the but how then do I know I have moved my thinking up to my head and allowed myself to be stuck. 3) Fear means nothing, it doesn’t mean you are weak, scared, not strong enough, or believing it is not possible for you.  Get into action and let the movement be the thing that creates a shift.  4) Know that the fear actually never goes away.  I like to call fear my teammate, I don’t like to resist her, she is part of the team. Let the Door Close

Let the Door Close

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on the doors and how we know when it is time to let them close.  This is a big one, one that I have relearned, experienced, and relearned multiple times in my life.  From small experiences to massive life decisions, we tend to wait far too long to make the decision to open the door or close the door. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  We overanalyze everything, at least I do. We can easily keep doors open for longer than necessary because we don’t want to make the wrong decision. That open door is blocking us from other opportunities.  2) We stick a door stopper or a foot in the door hoping we can have it both ways.  3) The meaning that we give to things actually decides our actions and emotions.  The meaning that we give something comes from our past experiences - good and bad, from our fears, goals, failures, successes, and our interpretation of what it all means. We are the ones keeping ourselves stuck in our stories. The Story Only Has the Meaning That You Give It

The Story Only Has the Meaning That You Give It

In this episode, I share some thoughts on the meaning that we give to our stories. “Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it.” ~ Tony Robbins. This is a mantra I continually use in my life.  Our life is composed of multiple life experiences and people that are sometimes strategically placed in our lives to teach us something, or to help us become the best version of ourselves.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  The truth is the truth, and the story is the story.  Not all experiences will be great experiences and that’s ok.  Life is forever giving us what we need to become the best version of ourselves. Whatever we are telling ourselves is the truth we are giving it.  The sooner we can get ourselves back to neutral the better.   2) The moments in our life that may appear to be the closed doors, the stopped opportunities may actually in turn be the doors that change the game for us.  Sometimes we are only a few degrees off, and not as stuck as we think we are.  3) The meaning that we give to things actually decides our actions and emotions.  The meaning that we give something comes from our past experiences - good and bad, from our fears, goals, failures, successes, and our interpretation of what it all means. You Have a Voice, So Use it with Valeria Elliott

In this episode, I am speaking with Ms. V The Storyteller.   Valeria Elliott, better known as Ms. V The Storyteller, lost her voice at six and didn't get it back until she was twenty-three. Valeria started sharing her personal stories and decided to turn them into a Podcast. Her podcast is for anyone who has lost their voice and wants to get it back. Her stories are personal, and she uses them as a tool to help others who may have gone through similar stories.  In this episode, we discuss:1) How we can find ourselves stuck in a chapter of our lives and then continue to give the story or chapter we are stuck in more meaning than it needs to have. Our stories are the point of connection, and learning to share our stories allows us to build incredible connections with others. 2) We can learn to train ourselves to not live in our stories or to not live in our past.  Our story is simply an experience. 3) The more we put people on pedestals, the bigger the gap we give ourselves for our own growth in our life. We also make it a bigger drop for them to fall from when we finally see their human side. Where Ideas Go to Die

Where Ideas Go to Die

In this episode, I am sharing an experience that came up for me during a recent coaching session.  As humans, we continually want to plan, map it all out, understand the how, and make it make sense, and while we are planning the best way to open that door of opportunity, opening it no longer becomes an option.  We plan ourselves into a complete blockage.   In this episode, we discuss: 1)  When we look at our past experiences, how many of them have worked out according to plan?  Literally none. We can’t think our way out of a problem, it eventually comes down to getting into action. 2) Our body does not have the capacity to overthink.  Only the mind does.  When the mind is heavy, shift your physical body into movement.  Ground yourself, move your body, the more movement your body gets the less the mind receives and the less it can stop you in your actions.  3) The moment we take our ideas to our brain to map out and plan, we block our own unique human design for how we process, experience, and make decisions. Go to https://www.mybodygraph.com to learn more about your human design and how this can be impacting how you learn, integrate, and create change in your life.  4) Break or interrupt the pattern faster.  When our mindset is full of doubt it doesn't take long to search for proof of what we want to see, break the pattern faster and choose differently. No Pedestals Here

No Pedestals Here

In this episode, I am sharing thoughts on how we put people, mentors, and coaches on pedestals. A couple of things happen when we do that and neither of them helps us to create the change we are seeking in our lives.  In this episode we discuss:  1) When we put people on pedestals, we have no idea what their story is, just what we perceive their story to be. Our perception comes from our experience and has nothing to do with that person.  The bigger the pedestal, the larger the drop when they show their human side, or when they fall below our expectations. 2) A pedestal immediately creates an inferior/superior relationship between the two of you. You will never connect fully with this person you admire because you are not viewing yourself and them as being on the same playing field.  3) This process increases the gap or the stories that we are telling ourselves about what we think we are capable of and only reinforces what we are telling ourselves about why we can’t achieve the same thing. 4) One way to stop putting others on pedestals is to focus on cultivating the best relationship possible with yourself, self-love, compassion, feeling good about yourself, your gifts and values, and investing in yourself every single day.  We are all on an equal playing field and the fact that this “mentor” created what she did, shows you what is possible for you too. Love on Your Haters

In this episode I am sharing an experience dealing with “trolls” or negative people on the internet.  When we are building our businesses online, sharing vulnerable stories, we are putting ourselves out there and it leaves us exposed.  When we get a hater who messages on our post, or sends a dm, we can choose how we respond.  I recently received a nasty one, and wanted to share the experience with you in a podcast episode.  In this episode we discuss:  1) Our haters are always there, people will disagree with us, and they're allowed to.  Their response is not our responsibility.  Our reaction is our responsibility and with practice it gets easier to respond in the moment in a way that best serves us.   2) Do we want to give all of our energy to the 1%, who’s reaction says more about them than us?  When we let the 1% stop us, we don’t reach the other 99% who are praying for the solutions that we are holding onto.  3) Where can we use that as content, leaving everyone in integrity and physiologically see ourselves letting it go?4)  Sometimes we are meant to be the hero in someone else’s story and sometimes we are meant to be the villain in their story and maybe that’s the role we are meant to play.  Our growth can trigger something in them that is not healed and it’s not for us to heal them, we do the work on ourselves.

How to Own it When You’re in a Funk

How to Own it When You’re in a Funk

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts in response to what do I do when I am in a funk?  There’s this weird message (unspoken) in social media, building an online business, of what do I do when I am in a funk? Or even more ridiculously, assuming people in the online space don’t have off days or that they’re in a funk.  That is when we’re not even being fair, reasonable with ourselves.  That is where comparison can be a really slippery slope. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  How to identify when you are in a funk, what does that look like for you, and how quickly can you bring it back to an ownership piece of what do you need that you are not giving yourself. Time, rest, permission, boundaries, self care, fitness, nutrition, habits etc.  It always comes back to me owning what I need to give myself. 2) How fast can we shift, disrupt the pattern and take responsibility for our funk? 3) Give yourself permission for some downtime.  We can only give from overflow to others.  That is it.  We always go first. Choosing Who You Want to Be Changes Your Story with Kelly-Anne Appleton

Choosing Who You Want to Be Changes Your Story with Kelly-Anne Appleton

Today we are speaking with Mindset & Success Coach, Kelly-Anne Appleton. As a self-proclaimed “seeker” Kelly-Anne has spent the last 20 years of her life on a quest to learn to love and understand herself. After years of personal growth and healing, she finally happened on material that reinforced and solidified her belief that everything she was searching for was inside her. In 2020 she became certified in that work through the Proctor-Gallagher Institute. As an empathetic and intuitive Mindset & Success Coach, she is passionate about helping others to transform their lives through this work, break patterns, uncover their power, create a life they love, and truly know they are worthy of all good things.  Kelly-Anne was one of 47 women who were successful in bringing their abuser to justice in the largest case of non-residential sexual abuse by a Catholic priest in North America. She has spoken at a number of events and her story was highlighted in an episode of the CBC The Fifth Estate entitled “The Good Father”.   Kelly-Anne has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of survivors and continues to work to empower and inspire women. Her story will soon be published in the collaborative book, She Is Worthy. As a trained leader through One Circle Foundation, she currently hosts a Women’s Circle in her hometown, a space where women’s souls are fed and filled up by the love, support and energy of the women around them.In this episode we discuss: 1)  The process, experience and power of shame and how it can be such a block that keeps us stuck in our story. Shame also showed up in the emotions of anger, resentment, and frustration and it affected every relationship in her life.  Kelly-Anne does an incredible job of speaking about shame, the power of our voices, and how our story can truly help one person and that can change everything for that person. 2) Recognizing the difference between advice and council.  Advice tends to come from people who are not doing the things that we want to do or not living the life we want to live. Council represents the people you respect individually, who they are, what they are going through and how we can learn so much from them. 3) Forgiveness is a decision that we are making, not a feeling that we have.  Embracing forgiveness is about us choosing what we get to carry, what is supporting us and how we choose to live our lives.  Connect with Kelly-AnneFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/kellyanne.appleton Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/appletonkellyanne Email: [email protected]   Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Ask "What is This Teaching Me"

Ask "What is This Teaching Me"

In this episode, I am sharing the go-to question, that I refer back to on a regular basis.  If we are always willing to learn and grow, and if we are asking for growth, then life will be forever teaching us lessons.  What we choose to make that mean is all on us. I have lived and embodied this question and lesson especially over the last month. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  We decide at any time what something is teaching us.  We are a victim of our circumstances or a the victor of our story.  We always get to decide. 2) How we all sign up for our soul contract and how life gives us the challenges and experiences to grow into being able to serve that soul contract.  Life doesn’t always give us what we want, it gives us what we need in order to grow into that higher version of ourselves.  3)  When we ask what life is teaching us, we are opening up our subconscious mind to see the possibilities.  Ask a different question, get a different answer. 4) Asking more questions, creates curiosity, helps you to see potential, build emotional intelligence, lending to better soft skills - key in leadership at work and interpersonal relationship building. Is Perfectionism Stopping You?

Is Perfectionism Stopping You?

In this episode I am talking about perfectionism and how it is a 20-ton block that we hold onto to keep ourselves “safe, protected and we believe unaffected by the potential opinions and judgements of others.”  As Brene Brown says, “If I look perfect, live perfect, work perfect, I can avoid or minimize criticism or blame.” Perfectionism is a learned behaviour that typically comes from childhood and a lot of times it is a block that we use to keep ourselves from being hurt, yet all it is doing is keeping us from being seen.  In this episode we discuss: 1) I am a recovering perfectionist and perfectionism/fighter is one of the 4 blocks I refer to when it comes to owning our stories.  The others are victim, hider and people pleaser. If you want to take the free Blocks to Owning Your Story Quiz, https://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks 2) I used to wear perfectionism as a badge of honour, thinking it was because I was a striver, I worked hard, I had a level of excellence that I expected of myself.  When actually healthy striving is self-focused in “how can I improve”, whereas perfectionism is other focused, “what will they think”?  I wanted others to see that I could do x,y,z, and it also allowed me to fly under the radar from a young age, and not be the source of issues, problems, or growing up long before I needed to.  I thought this pressure was helping me and it did for many reasons, until it didn’t 3) This became a very self-destructive pattern of behaviour that literally blew up once we started dealing with teen substance abuse and I was living the complete opposite of a perfect life.  “When perfectionism is driving us, then shame is riding shotgun and fear is that annoying backseat driver.” Brene Brown. I was living in shame, feeling not good enough, feeling that I didn't want to be seen, yet all I deeply craved was connection and being seen 4) This pattern went on repeat until I couldn’t do it any longer.  It no longer worked and I was blocking myself from being seen, from receiving support, from connection, from the people who have since impacted my life, and from setting up for the work I am doing now.  I learned how to shift this through the writing process.  There are no authors published who are perfectionists, it’s not doable. As soon as I set down my shield, I was able to live my life, truly live it. I am not sure where I would be if I didn't because the research shows that perfectionism is the path to depression, anxiety, addiction and life paralysis. The Impact of Calming Your Nervous System with Dr. Amy Novotny

In this episode I am speaking with the Founder, Doctor of physical therapy, nervous system and breath coach, author, and speaker, Dr. Amy Novotny.  Dr. Amy Novotny founded the PABR® Institute with the mission to provide pain, stress and anxiety relief to those who seek a naturalistic form of treatment when other treatment methods have fallen short.  Her methods have helped countless people reduce and eliminate pain, stress, anxiety, orthopedic surgeries, sleep issues and the need for medications while improving focus, attention, energy, strength and performance. She co-authored two Amazon #1 Best-Selling books Don’t Quit: Stories of Persistence, Courage and Faith and Success Habits of Super Achievers, which share her journey on how and why she developed the PABR® Method. Her ability to speak French and Spanish has allowed her to communicate with and help various clients from all around the world, including France, Mexico, Central America and South America. She has a variety of interests including running 40+ marathons, running 10 ultra marathons (including two 100 milers), completing an Ironman triathlon, and photographing wildlife and landscapes all over the world which has led to several of her images being chosen as Photos of the Day, most notably National Geographic Your Shot World Top Photo of the Day. In this episode we discuss: 1) Learning to understand our nervous system, how to see when it is regulated and when it isn't, what that looks like, the effect it has on all of our relationships and how to take the small, consistent steps to learn how to regulate it. 2) The pain our body can trap for years, the inability of the body to pull back from our nervous system responses and how persistent increasing stress levels, only exacerbates our body's response to pain. 3) The process of learning how to let go, allowing our body to stabilize, then let go again and stabilize. This process of letting go and creating stability also allows our body to find a neutral state to return to instead of constantly rebounding between the two extremes.  Connect with AmyEmail: [email protected]: https://www.facebook.com/dramynovotny/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-amy-novotny/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anovotn/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/amynovotnyaz Website: https://pabrinstitute.com/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DrAmyNovotny One-on-one coaching: https://pabrinstitute.com/appointments Online live cohort-based group course: https://pabrinstitute.com/online-course Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. The Power of Your Voice

The Power of Your Voice

The Power of Your VoiceIn this episode, I am sharing some thoughts and misconceptions when it comes to “finding your voice”.  You actually don’t need to find your voice.  You haven’t lost it or never had it, you haven’t used it because you are waiting to feel confident, to trust it or to find a way to avoid criticism or judgments from others who might disagree with your message. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Action breeds confidence.  The only way to start to build confidence is to get into action.  Let it be messy, not perfect, this is how you let others see you, how you build confidence, create feedback and then re-ajust and course correct. 2) Your voice is unique.  Your message is unique.  When we give into the fear, we are honestly playing a story and making it about us.  When we can step outside of ourselves and see what we can do, how our message can help others, we can work through our fears of what will others think. 3)  I have to bring HD (human design) into this conversation.  If you have not had an HD assessment, I strongly encourage you to dive in.  The throat center is all about expression and manifesting. I will be diving into more content on the throat and the spleen (our center for intuition) because as we are diving into all of the content for the HOW method, Healing, Owning and Writing your story, it has become more apparent how we have to learn more about who we are and find our own unique way to work through our fears of using our voice. Donovan teaches his self-skills curriculum through youth coaching, speeches, and online content. What Are You Choosing to Allow?

What Are You Choosing to Allow?

In this episode, I am sharing the some thoughts on boundaries, what we allow, how to recognize when we are carrying things that don’t serve us, and some practical tips for how to work though the process of letting go when we realize that we are carrying things that are not ours to carry.  This is a concept that affects and impacts so many of us, especially when it comes to building a business in the online space, as well as so many of us being disconnected or hiding behind our phones or devices. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Boundaries are our highest form of self-respect, we choose what we allow into our lives.  That is people, energy, experiences, how we choose to feel, all of it is on us and it is our responsibility. 2) What we allow is what will continue.  It honestly is that simple.  When you change your response with someone in your life and put a boundary in place, don't automatically elevate your expectations of their behaviour. Their behaviour is always their choice. 3)  Get real, honest and raw with yourself.  When something isn’t working in your life, what can you change, what can you do differently, and how can you bring it back to ownership to see what is missing in your life? Who Do You Need Boundaries From?

Who Do You Need Boundaries From?

In this episode, I want to share a concept on boundaries that hit home recently. Boundaries start with clarity about where you are feeling some anxiety in your life.  Ask yourself what is missing, where you are feeling anxiety and what you know is missing.  You know the answers.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Boundaries start with our values, and clarity on our values makes it easier for all the yes’ and no’s you will follow through with in your life and business. 2) Boundaries are a moving line, like a bubble.  Not a hard line in the sand with no negotiating and also recognizing that this changes every single day.  If you find that your self-care practices are low, your stress is high, I guarantee your boundaries will be the next thing affected. 3) What boundary do you need for yourself from yourself? I dove into this in more detail in the episode. Savage Surrender with SaraMae Hollandsworth

Today we are speaking with SaraMae Hollandsworth.  SaraMae is a Wellness Executive + Entrepreneur, Physical + Spiritual Fitness Expert, Double Certified Health Coach & Personal Trainer, Speaker, Writer, and Athlete. SaraMae Hollandsworth had over 20 years of experience as a health and fitness expert and entrepreneur. She is a high-performance athlete and trainer who suffered a near-life-ending infection that landed her in life support and in a coma and ultimately caused her to have both legs amputated below the knees. Her story is one of rising from rock bottom and near-death to rebuild her life better, stronger, healthier, and happier than before. To repurpose her pain into power, purpose, and potential. She is committed to using her story to help others heal, thrive, and fulfill their God-given purpose. In this episode we discuss: 1) How we are co-creators and creators of our life and we can create change when we embody this thinking and perspective.  Sitting and waiting for life to change on its own is literally giving away our power to our circumstances and taking ourselves out of the driver’s seat from creating life-changing results. 2) The concept of “Savage Surrender”, forgiveness, letting go, and what a spiritual awakening can actually look like.  It isn’t a beautiful or peaceful awakening.  In fact, it can be a messy wake-up call full of loud, banging music and noises that are disruptive.  Embracing all of it, especially the messy parts is the path to creating lasting change. 3) The concepts of healing generational trauma, how that work can be so heavy and challenging, yet some of us are called into this space because we are truly the ones to break that cycle. 4) The best is yet to come.  When we stay in this headspace and energy we show up for our lives being in the driver’s seat and open to receiving the messages meant for us, and anchor in the knowledge that we can create whatever we desire in our lives.  Connect with SaraMae, Email: [email protected]: https://www.facebook.com/SaraMae777 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesaramae/   Watch SaraMae’s Documentary: https://mailchi.mp/e873153b1344/risen-phoenix?fbclid=IwAR1JHSll0qEB9JRpL2GhzqDsXSP30-zsLGqd2C_P5GW8HviGwietYBH0aZo   Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker, and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Be Loyal to Yourself First

Be Loyal to Yourself First

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on loyalty. One of my mentors called me out on this, and it was so necessary. This entrepreneurship journey is rocky, messy, lonely and beautiful at the same time. As humans, many of us are so loyal to others. We have great intentions, we mean well, and we want to help others, yet we are not showing that loyalty to ourselves first. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Every emotion you are exhibiting externally in your life is an emotion that you experience first internally. Like every single relationship in your life is an extension of your relationship with yourself, where can you give to yourself first and then provide the overflow to others?2)  Using this model, even if you are not in the entrepreneurship model, this is still relatable to you. Where can you show more loyalty to yourself first? Where can you pour into yourself first before giving and pouring into others? 3)  “What got you here won’t get you there.” This is such a moment of realization that I am seeing, and thank God I surround myself with mentors who aren’t afraid to call me on my shit. That is how I continue to grow, and that is how I can support my clients and continue to grow my business without burning out.  Join The HOW Method - starting June 2ndhttps://www.marshavanw.com/thehowmethod Join the Rising Leaders Collective https://marshavanw.com/rlcmMarsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why.” She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Learning to Bless the Things You Once Resented

Learning to Bless the Things You Once Resented

In this episode, I want to share a mindset shift or an awareness that I had this past week.  It is about the things that we resent or resist and looking at the energy that we are wasting sitting in these emotions.  What if these are the things we even despise of ourselves and we are holding onto that resentment.  It is a weight that is holding us down, keeping us stuck in the same cycle of energy and frustration.  We will never create change in this cycle. The circumstances and situations that made us who we are, are exactly the things we are being called to appreciate and be grateful for?  What if these things are the actual things we must learn to love, respect, and appreciate about ourselves. In today’s episode we discuss:  1) When you ask different questions, you get different answers.  You cannot love yourself and hate all of the stories that made you who you are. It doesn’t work that way. Sometimes the perspective shift is so one simple question that changes everything. 2) What if the things you have grown to resent, resist, and maybe even despise of yourself, are actually the things that you must learn to love, respect, and appreciate about yourself.  This is such a powerful shift in our mindset. 3)  This always takes me back to the Rebecca Campbell quote, “Bless the thing that cracked you open, because now more than ever, the world needs you open.”  This is the work that we do in Owning Your Story, and the result is a new level of healing, freedom, certainty, confidence, and purpose that is impossible to describe.  4) What is one thing you can look at in yourself, something that you once resented that you might be able to look at differently? Creating a Global Impact and Movement with Bettina Carey

Creating a Global Impact and Movement with Bettina Carey

In this episode, I am speaking with Coach and Speaker, Bettina Carey.  Bettina,  the diminutive 4' 9-1/2" Latina, inspires and empowers women to create BIG RESULTS. They break through, no shatter, their earnings glass ceiling, kick self-imposed limitations to the curb and live their legacies now. Whether she's coaching from a live or virtual stage or conferring with a small cohort of bold women or men on the rise across a conference table, her championship, strategies, and straight talk compel women and men to find a whole new gear to succeed beyond their wildest dreams. Bettina's forthcoming book, "Shattering Your Own Glass Ceiling: Unlocking Your Inner Power & Hidden Potential with Your Master Key, is being written during Covid 19. Stay tuned for the release date...In this episode we discuss: 1)  Bettina’s vulnerable story and how her experience, combined with her drive to make an impact with others, and the shift in the pandemic, opened to door to allow her business to expand globally. 2) Bettina shared many analogies, mantras, and phrases that help her to shift at the moment, one being that she decided these last two years would be her Inspirmental years (Inspiring and Mentoring) and this has become the basis for her business that she's continuing to build. 3) Bettina’s lesson in life that she is most grateful for is learning how to find gratitude in the present moment, that is truly the only moment we have.  This made me reference the quote by Lao Tzu “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” Connect with BettinaLinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/bettinacareyspeaker/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettina.carey/ Website: https://www.WeEmPOWERYourLife.com How to connect with Bettina’s workhttps://www.weempoweryourlife.com/products/438719/VIRTUAL-SUMMITEarly-Bird-Rate.htm https://www.weempoweryourlife.com/234317/Calendar.htm https://www.weempoweryourlife.com/227027/Affiliate-Summit-Promotion.htm Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Healing is An Ongoing Journey

Healing is An Ongoing Journey

In this episode, I dive into some thoughts on healing and how we can support ourselves more in the healing journey.  I also share some ideas on how healing has to come first before we think about sharing our stories.  Learning to share your story from a healed space is when we shift from anger, resentment, and blaming others to taking ownership, living at the cause, embodying the lessons and turning pain into purpose.  This is the beginning of creating an impact, a ripple effect, and rewriting your story. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  How to recognize when our nervous system is off, recognize when we are not listening to what our bodies need, make healing a priority, and recognize that healing isn't a task, it's a practice, and it is not a linear line. 2) Healing is a lifelong process. Healing meets you where you're at to help empower you throughout your life story. 3) When we undergo healing, we are more equipped to help others heal since we are going through the process. We can speak from places of love and light more thoroughly instead of just areas of trauma and despair. The stages of healing move from grief and denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. 4) In general, recovery is the ability to live in the present without being overwhelmed by the thoughts and feelings of the past. When we learn to respond differently and not react to everything around us, we are active in our healing process. Remember to Celebrate - 400 Episodes!!

In this short episode, I am taking a brief minute to celebrate.  Celebrate a crazy idea that came to me almost 4.5 years ago to start a podcast because no one was talking about difficult stories.  I had no idea what I was doing, no one who I knew and could ask how to do it, and tons of overwhelm mixed with excitement.  Oh and let’s not forget the imposter syndrome that was rampant.  It was messy, not even close to perfect and was one of the main starting points to learn how to bless and let go of my perfectionism. Today we celebrate 400 episodes of Own Your Choices Own Your Life and say cheers to all that is to come. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  You don’t have to have it all figured out, just start and trust that you can be resourceful and figure out what your next steps are as you go.  2)  Allow yourself to become a beginner and to learn while doing. 3)  The ideas that drop down for you are for you.  They are yours to bring to life. Measure Backwards - How I Got Here

In this episode, I wanted to share some of my back story on how I got here.  It comes down to we think we know someone’s story but we never do. We know the chapter we are reading and what we perceive the story is.  As I was breaking down the content for the HOW program, and combining that with the book content from The Gap and The Gain it had me stop and want to share this journey with you.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  The steps in my early journey, the bold and scary moves I made and the impact that they made in my life to bring me to this point. 2) How important it is to measure ourselves backwards - by how far we have come and what that looks like. We can have goals moving forward but we must measure our progress by looking backwards. What Proof You Are Searching For?

What Proof You Are Searching For?

In this episode, I want to share a very simple thought and concept that you will always find the proof that you are searching for, so be so mindful and careful of what you are looking for.  This is tied to all areas of your life including self-worth, business, relationships and it can keep you stuck on this spiral of creating proof, even though you are the one who is self-sabotaging and creating it. This is an “I love you but” episode.  In this episode, we discuss: 1)  What story has been on repeat for you? Now look at what you are continuously doing to contribute to that?  The people you are surrounding yourself with, the prices you are charging etc. 2)  Everything is literally data.  It is always teaching us something.  Choose your energy wisely and don’t be pissed off or waste energy when it is something that you are setting yourself up for. This is where radical responsibility comes in yet again. 3)  Be honest, ask yourself what proof are you searching for?  This relates to the past episode of the Gap and the Gain and where do you find yourself, because whatever you are telling yourself is real. You are the only person who can change the story. She is a master at spotting your blind spots and helping you course correct. With a focus on communication and effective decision making, Julie helps you learn to trust yourself (and the universe)! In this episode we discuss: 1) How our attachment is truly the root of all suffering.  We dove into attachments, expectations, how we hold onto things that no longer serve us and how that is energy we are wasting that we could use to create change in our life. 2) The power of letting ourselves feel our emotions without judging or shaming ourselves, and actually let our emotions be our best teachers. Julie shared the term, “blessins” as a reminder how our blessings and lessons are combined together. 3) How transformational breathwork can be to our own healing and how healing ourselves can heal 7 generations back and 7 generations forward. Are You in the Gap or the Gain?

Are You in the Gap or the Gain?

In this episode, I want to share a message downloaded (actually multiple messages that downloaded from listening to my most current audiobook, “The Gap and the Gain” by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy.  This book has had some incredible points that hit home for my own business and I knew I wanted to share it with you here.    In this episode, we discuss: 1)  This is how they explained it in their words, “many highly ambitious people, are unhappy because of how they measure their progress. We all have an "ideal," a moving target that is always out of reach. When we measure ourselves against that ideal, we're in "the GAP." However, when we measure ourselves against our previous selves, we're in "the GAIN."2) This pertains to all areas of our lives, financial, personal, relationships, business, goals, health, etc.  and no one sits in one area and never the other, it is a flow state of movement and recognizing where we are in the equation.  We always have a choice, and awareness is where it starts. 3)  This becomes a measurement of your current self vs your former self and it has implications that can affect and impact your emotional, physiological and psychological state. https://www.marshavanw.com/thehowmethod Join the Rising Leaders Collective https://marshavanw.com/rlcm   Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Don't Pick My Brain

In this episode, I want to share a message that I know I have done, I have used and one that falls into my inbox on a regular basis. It’s a trigger for me for a few reasons, so I took it as a sign to share a podcast episode on it.   In this episode, we discuss: 1) “Can I pick your brain” is a code word for, “can I have free coaching”, “can you share the 1 thing you did to grow your business”, ultimately, “can you make it easier for me”. 2) There is no one way, one answer or one method.  A blueprint is exactly that, a blueprint for one person that can work perfectly but may not work at all for other people. 3) This process does not honour or value the work that another coach has done to get where they are at, and it completely takes our own growth process, experience and intuition out of the equation. Don't Be Afraid to Go Backwards First

In this episode, I am getting a little spicy as I talk about this fear that we have over going backwards in our life and business. We are constantly judging ourselves and comparing ourselves to others, so it gives us the vision and insight that stops and blocks us.   In this episode, we discuss: 1) If we are living a story on repeat, there is no strategy that will change, fix or allow us to grow.  It requires putting a spotlight on what isn’t working. 2) The steps, journey and meaning of the stories only has the meaning that we give it and put on repeat. 3) “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” ~ Soren Kierkegaard and this quote -  “Learn to see things backwards, inside out, and upside down.” ~ John Heider.  Don’t be afraid to go backwards first to see what is not working, to heal what has to be healed and to own what you need to own in order to move forward in the most powerful way possible. Coaches - Stop Shaming Clients

In this episode, I am getting a little spicy as I share some thoughts and perspective on the coaching industry.  How coaches need to stop shaming their clients to do x,y,z or they won’t be successful.  I also share some tips for the client when it comes to making choices in their own business and how they can create a checklist to refer to when it comes to selecting a coach.  In this episode, we discuss: 1) How coaches can stand in integrity in their business by continuing to commit to doing their own work, their own healing and then speak to their clients from that grounded space instead of from the lack, shaming and judgement space. 2) I shared some tips to creating your own checklist when it comes to choosing a coach who may expand you to step into the impact you here to create.  How it’s so important to not choose a coach out of lack or FOMO, yet to choose to get in the rooms or containers that inspire you to move out of your own way to build what you are here to  Join the Rising Leaders Collective  https://marshavanw.com/rlcm   Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. In this episode, we are discussing the taboo topic of shame.  It is one of those topics that we need to add a voice to and as soon as we do, shame loses its power.  In today’s episode we are talking all about shame, how it has a  power in our lives, and how when we speak about shame, give it a voice, learn how to heal it and support ourselves through the healing process we will find our way to vulnerability which can be the bridge to move to continued healing In this episode we discuss:    1) Shame stories, what we deem as shame, how it keeps us stuck and isolated, paralyzing in our lives, blocking us from people, experiences and opportunities, and how we can change this story when we embrace healing.  We heal ourselves and up to 7 generations forwards and backwards. To heal our shame stories, it requires us to heal our past, our emotions, our choices,  embracing forgiveness,  and realizing that our stories only ever have the meaning that we give them.  2) Committing to the healing process helps us to find our voice. The more we find our voice, and use our voice the more we will trust our voice,    3) How vulnerability is a method to release shame, give shame a voice and how to determine who has earned the right to hear our stories. This is the path to connection and the people who are meant to be in our lives. 4) Brené Brown describes vulnerability as "uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure." It's that unstable feeling we get when we step out of our comfort zone or do something that forces us to loosen control. This is the path to building our connections to others.    Join the Rising Leaders Collective  https://marshavanw.com/rlcm   Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Where Are You In The Arena

Where Are You In The Arena

In this episode,  I am sharing one of my fav Brene Brown quotes that was a light switch for me: “If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I am not interested in or open to your feedback.  There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their own lives, but will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgment at those of us trying to dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism and fear-mongering. If you’re criticizing from a place where you’re not also putting yourself on the line, I am not interested in your feedback.”  ~ Brene Brown   In this episode, we discuss: 1) Are you in the arena, are you in your own arena? Where are you? Are you sitting in the cheap seats or are you on the floor?  2) Are you taking advice from people on the floor with you or are they in the cheap seats?  3) Be clear on what you value and how much stock you put in the opinions of others. Learning to Release Shame

Learning to Release Shame

In this episode, we are discussing the taboo topic of shame.  I have personally shared 4 episodes over the years on shame.  It is one of those topics that we need to add a voice to and as soon as we do, shame loses it’s power.  In today’s episode we are talking all about shame, how it has a  power in our lives, and how EFT tapping is one way to release it. In this episode we discuss:    1) Humans crave security, safety and how these “feelings” come from within.     2) What shame is, the difference between shame and guilt and how paralyzing shame can be in our lives.    3) How vulnerability is a method to release shame, give shame a voice and how to determine who has earned the right to hear our stories. This is the path to connection and the people who are meant to be in our lives. 4) EFT Tapping, what it is, how it is effective in releasing anxiety, shame and I share this with the members of the Rising Leaders Collective and it is included in the Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundle below. The NLP work is incredibly powerful at healing our past limiting beliefs, and for subconscious reprogramming. My FAV Brene Brown Quote

My FAV Brene Brown Quote

#386: My FAV Brene Brown QuoteIn this episode,  I am sharing one of my fav Brene Brown quotes: “ I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”  ~ Brene Brown   In this episode, we discuss: 1) Embracing change and everything that life is trying to bring to us, yet we are blocked by our “stories” or our shame of what everyone else will think of us. 2) Ownership literally changes everything. We cannot change anything if we don’t own it first and if we don’t own it, it owns you. 3) Loving ourselves with compassion and grace through our difficult stories is truly the only way to live. It takes tremendous practice to learn how to do this, yet it is such a powerful lesson. 4) Learn to accept and maybe eventually love the lessons your story is teaching you. Don’t make it about the trauma of the story, shift it to be about the lessons you’ve learned.Join the Writing Your Story Masterclass:https://www.everybodyholdsastory.com/writing-your-story-masterclass Join the Rising Leaders Collective  https://marshavanw.com/rlcm   Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Writing Your Story - Where Do You Start?

Writing Your Story - Where Do You Start?

In this episode, we are discussing the idea of writing your story.  This journey of writing 7 years ago and I could never have imagined it would lead to this place of helping others to learn how to share and write their stories too.  So you have had this dream of becoming a published author but have no clue of where to start? Here are a few tips I wanted to share. In this episode we discuss:    1)  Who is going to benefit from your story?  Who are you speaking to?   It actually isn’t about us, that was a huge eye opener when I was writing my story.    2)  Why are you being called to write?  Can you write from a place of integrity about your story? What is being shared, what is off limits, what are the readers' takeaways? 3) What are the turning points in your story.  This is where I was, this is what happened, and this is where I am now.  Such a simple step process but that’s the general breakdown.  You are the hero of your own story and that is what you are being called to share. 4) Are you being called to be a collaborative author or a solo author? I have done both and am sharing some points on both.  Join the Writing Your Story Masterclass:https://www.everybodyholdsastory.com/writing-your-story-masterclass Join the Rising Leaders Collective  https://marshavanw.com/rlcm  Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation.
