#232: How to Heal the “Traumatic Hole” in Your Cup with Lauren Saracione   Today we are speaking with a 19-year fitness trainer specializing in Holistic Pain Elimination Expert  Lauren Saracione. Lauren is a fitness professional with more than 19 years experience, who specializes in helping people get fit, athletic, and heal from pain. She has a unique understanding of how unresolved trauma stored in the body’s electromagnetic field distorts tissue, causing physical pain, and the genetic expression of DNA in dis-ease. Pain Explained, her signature program, helps you get fit, athletic, and heal from pain, mental, emotional & physical. Lauren also has a podcast, Love Is A Verb, where she sheds light on the mental & emotional connection between the body and the Universe as a whole. With the podcast, she hopes to reduce polarity in the unified field of love by including trauma as an integral part of our life experience.   In this episode, we discuss: Owning our trauma is the path to healing our self-care cup, and taking radical responsibility for our choices is the path to growth and creating change.   Repressed emotions and stories, continues to feed limiting beliefs and keep us stuck in our stories.  The inner work is the powerful work that we are all capable of doing.  This is what creates the massive change and the ripple effect we want to create.    Connect with Lauren: Instagram: https://www,instagram.com/laurensaracione Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/undergroundascension Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loveisaverb_physics Facebook: https://www,facebook.com/laurensaracione Website: https://www.laurensaracione.com Website: https://www.undergroundascension.com Website: https://www.loveclubcommunity.com Email: [email protected] Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. We are continually creating our own limiting beliefs.  The power of taking responsibility for our choices and decisions and letting go of the emotions of blame and guilt as they just keep us stuck as a victim.  How our opinions are the source of our own suffering.  They keep us blocked from what is available for as well as the opportunities and people who can help us to bring the possible changes into our lives.    Connect with Melissa : Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/melissamachatFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/melissamachat Website: https://www.re-aligncoaching.com Email : [email protected] Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeJkA0qrBA1GoNDTZFkdVqA?view_as=subscriber   Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #228: The Power of Using Our Voices - IWD 2021

#228: The Power of Using Our Voices - IWD 2021  In this "Monday mindset episode, I am sharing my thoughts about International Woman’s Day 2021 and the power of using our voices.  The theme of 2021 is #feministrecovery. This is a time to celebrate the contribution of women and girls everywhere.  This is a time to recognize the women who inspire us all and renew the importance of gender equality in Canada and around the world. In today’s episode we discuss:1) Especially coming off the year of 2020 that was full of division, the pandemic, loss of jobs, scarcity and fear with income, jobs and health.  This has been the year of comparison, judgment, division, and polarizing opinions.  If there was ever a year that we need to come together to support others, it is definitely now. 2) How we can Be the Change we wish to see in the world.  How we can celebrate the success of others as a rising tide lifts all ships.  We can all rise together.  3) Stop doing it all alone.  Where can you reach out for support, and where can you be of support for others? This is the time to start using our voices for the greater good, especially when we are scared. #227: Bless Your Triggers

#227: Bless Your Triggers In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my experiences with triggers and how to see them differently.  I am sharing one of my big triggers and share how to address them in order to change them.  I also share that your triggers could be showing you something different than what you think.  In today’s episode we discuss:1) Start with awareness of what, who or experiences that trigger you.  They are showing you the work you need to do, not the things you should be avoiding. 2) Triggers are showing you something that actually inspires you. It is insight into something your soul actually wants you to do, accomplish or attempt because it is something that you are capable of doing too. 3) Listen to Episode #129 of Own Your Choices Own Your Life, on learning to Celebrate the Triggers.  This has been a popular topic and request for episodes on this show. https://apple.co/3u4InlUSchedule your Impact Call to make 2021 the year you Own Your Story, build your platform business and monetize your passion! https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/impact-call Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #226: Flaunt Your Flaws with Rubi Skilton

#226: Flaunt Your Flaws with Rubi Skilton Today we are speaking with Podcast Audio Expert & Limb Difference Advocate, Rubi Skilton.  Rubi is a podcast producer, audio expert, limb difference advocate, speaker, and entrepreneur. Being born with a physical difference could have positioned Rubi’s life to go in a different direction. She could’ve fallen into the victim mentality and lived a life of “I wish I could…”, but she used her difference as fuel to become successful and impact others. Throughout the years, Rubi lost herself in the world of expectations. Her voice was lost amongst the masses, so she pushed herself out of her comfort zone and started a podcast to use her voice. Rubi founded Podcast & Co., where she works with high-level entrepreneurs, coaches, and influencers to help them not only connect with their audience on a deeper level but also have their voices heard.   In this episode, we discuss: How owning her story and being an example for others for limb differences inspires her to keep showing up as her true authentic self.  If no one is talking about the mission that is on your heart or the things that are important to you, maybe that’s because it is actually yours to bring to life?  Taking something that we can be so terrified of such as public speaking and seeing it in different eyes as something you have to do in order to move to that next level that is always available to you.  Connect with Rubi : Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/podcastandco Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rubiskilton Website: www.podcastandcompany.comEmail: [email protected]   Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker, and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #225: Ownership vs Radical Responsibility

#225: Ownership vs Radical Responsibility

#225: Ownership vs Radical Responsibility  In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing my thoughts the difference between ownership and radical responsibility.  Radical responsibility is taking massive responsibility for your life regardless of your current situation or circumstances. This is sitting in awareness and responsibility for what we are each choosing to do in our lives.  Radical responsibility is the only way to get to ownership.  Below is a link to a previous episode I did on Radical Responsibility.   In today’s episode we discuss:1) It starts with radical responsibility and full awareness of what our actions and choices are not in alignment with the direction we want to go. When radical responsibility is low it tends to be the time when our self care game is so low that it isn’t serving us. 2) Two people cannot take ownership for one thing because if no one owns it, then no one owns it and if no one owns it, then nothing changes. There has to be some form of consequence attached to a decision in order for anything to change.  3) Listen to episode #124 of Own Your Choices Own Your Life on the Power of Radical Responsibility. https://apple.co/2Ndh7ksSchedule your Impact Call to make 2021 the year you Owning Your Story, build your platform business and monetize your passion! #224: Thank the People Who Got You Here

#224: Thank the People Who Got You Here In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts on the people from our past and present, the people who may not be the ones who are meant to be with us in our future.  Sometimes we don’t move towards our future potential because we are so afraid of the thoughts and opinions of the people who aren’t meant to be on the journey with us in the future. When we get to a space of thanking them for their role in our lives and let go of the guilt or fear of hurting them, we are then free to move toward the future that is available for us.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. Letting go of the fear of disappointing others, the guilt, shame, fears that are holding us back from moving towards the future that is available for us. 2. Thanking the people and experiences that molded us and shaped us into the person we are today.  3. Knowing that there are so many incredible opportunities for us in the future and that includes incredible people and relationships that we have to make space for them to come into our lives. #222: Drop the Armour

#222: Drop the Armour

#222: Drop the Armour In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing my thoughts on the armour that we carry and how we use this as a way to protect us or avoid judgment from others.  All this armour does is make our world really small and avoid us from feeling all emotions, joy included.  Incredible things can happen in our life when we decide to drop the armour and embrace the messiness that is in all of our lives.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. The weight of the armour, why we carry it and what it is doing to us by carrying it. 2. How the armour is actually blocking us from being vulnerable and being seen. 3. The armour and how it is stopping us from finding our army, our group of like-minded people who will be there to support us on our journey.  The armour is blocking us from the most impactful relationships we are meant to have in our lives. #221: Who’s Blocking Your Vision?

#221: Who’s Blocking Your Vision? In this Friday Facts episode, if you have a vision that has tapped you on the shoulder, you were worthy of it long before the tap.  The reason you are stuck is because you are trying to figure out the how instead of following the pull. Where are you lacking belief in yourself, what are your limiting beliefs, and recognize that you are not meant to do this on your own.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. Trusting the vision that comes to us, staying in action and being willing to fall on your face is what is required.  You will be fine, just get back up. 2. The vision is going to require a lot of crappy, messy action to bring it to life, and it will require you to ask for help and receive help from the most incredible people who are ready to come into your life. 3. When we stay open to the how, it can come together in the most beautiful way possible. This also will require you putting the boundaries in place to bring your vision to life.  Schedule your Impact Call to make 2021 the year you Own Your Story, build your platform business and monetize your passion! #219: Attention People Pleasers

#219: Attention People Pleasers   In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing my thoughts on the blocks to owning your story which includes the Victim, the Fighter/Perfectionist, the Hider, and the People Pleaser.  Today we are going to dive into the people pleaser because I am noticing a large number of people-pleasers that come into my coaching space.  It is recognizing that this is happening, and why it is that they tend to see me as a guide to help them through their story.  I am a fighter and perfectionist and when the people pleaser is ready to create change, they recognize that I can be the one to help shift their tendencies to bring their vision to life.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. People pleasing tendencies and what this looks like.  We can’t change anything until we bring awareness to it. 2. Without boundaries it is impossible to bring your vision to life without burning out constantly.  3. The tools to handle the resistance and push back from others when you are ready to create change in your story and in your life. #218: You Can Only Buy into One Story at a Time

#218: You Can Only Buy into One Story at a Time In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts on how we can only buy into or subscribe to one story at a time.  We tend to get stuck on where we have been, what we have lived through and all the challenges we’ve had to experience, and that keeps our energy focused on the past.  That is energy we cannot use to focus on where we are going and how we are moving towards our future.  We can only hold onto one story at a time, holding onto two means we go nowhere and that is not what we are here to do.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. The hold of our past stories and what it looks like to be a victim of our past, instead of recognizing that our stories happened for us to make us who we are meant to be.2. How to create a mantra or a way to recognize that we are the ones keeping ourselves stuck in the past. 3. Shifting our mindset to know that our stories and our experiences are here to help us step into the version of us that can make a massive impact in the world. #217: The Adversity Advantage with Doug Bopst

#217: The Adversity Advantage with Doug Bopst   Today we are speaking with Podcast Host, Trainer, Author, and Coach, Doug Bopst.  Doug Bopst is an award-winning personal trainer, author, speaker and podcast host. Those credentials and accolades are a result of his own transformation. He is a former felon and drug addict, sentenced to months in jail due to being found guilty of “possession with intent to sell.” He chose to use his time locked in that small cell to beat his demons and reinvent himself thanks to a combination of faith, family and fitness.   He has helped hundreds of people improve their health and wellness. #216: Who’s Actually in Your Arena?

#216: Who’s Actually in Your Arena? In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing the mindset work process of sharing your story and the resulting judgement that can arise when we start to share our story.  I am sharing one of my tips on how to work through the judgement of others, how to let go of the people who are not even in the arena with you, and how to understand who is not only in your arena, but who is on the arena floor with you.  I share one of my favourite quotes by Theodore Rosevelt, and Brene Brown from Daring Greatly.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. Assessing who is meant to be on the journey with you, and how to work through the judgement piece that arises when you share your story. 2. What does it mean to be in the arena with you, and who does that describe? 3. How to not let the people who aren’t even meant to be on your journey, be the reason that you hide in your story.  Your story wasn’t given to you to break you, it was given to you so you could learn the lessons, heal and pay that forward to help others.  Schedule your Impact Call to make 2021 the year you Own Your Story, build your platform business and monetize your passion! #215: The Obstacle is the Way

#215: The Obstacle is the Way In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts from the book, The Obstacle is the Way, by Ryan Holiday.  We all have obstacles, yet the weight we give to those obstacles is entirely up to us.  We choose the meaning and power that we give them.  If we can choose to look at the obstacle differently, we can change how we approach the obstacle and the actions that we take.  The obstacle isn’t there to block us, I believe the obstacle is actually teaching and guiding us which way to go.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. The obstacles we face can be there to teach us more about ourselves, certain lessons and even help us to see what we are capable of overcoming.2. The obstacles can be guiding us to the direction we are meant to follow. 3. When we change the way we see the obstacles, we change how we approach them and how we work to overcome them. #213: The Roadmap to Owning Your Story

#213: The Roadmap to Owning Your Story

#213: The Roadmap to Owning Your Story In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing the roadmap to owning your story.  Owning your story refers to taking full ownership for your part in your story, for taking radical responsibility for your choices, action, and reactions in response to your story.  This is the roadmap I use with my clients to help my clients uncover the lessons they learned from their story, which ultimately leads to uncovering what you are an expert of and how you can learn to share those lessons with others.  The impact you are here to make is wrapped up in the stories you have lived.  That is where you will find your expertise.  In today’s episode, we discuss:1. Start by writing down your story, go back as far as you can remember, write down your wins, experiences with as much unfiltered detail as possible. 2. Look for the stories or patterns that you repeated, and what do they have in common? What did you learn, what did your stories teach you, who did you become from living through these experiences? 3. Write down the 4-5 things that you could teach others because you know them better than anyone else.  This is the roadmap to owning your story, and you could teach these steps to others to make an impact. #212: Who Needs to Share Your Story

#212: Who Needs to Share Your Story

#212: Who Needs to Share Your Story In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing some thoughts on who needs to hear your story? When we shift our thinking from ourselves to someone else, who may need our support, it changes how we see our story.  This is a turning point when we realize that our story actually happened for us and not to us.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. Look at the answers, solutions or lessons you learned from your story.  Ask who may be looking for the answers or solutions you are holding onto? We tend to find that the people who we can impact are people who represent us from a few years ago when we were in the middle of our story.   When we change our thinking we change how we see our story and it helps us to see our story outside of ourselves. #208: How Fast Can You Reset?

#208: How Fast Can You Reset? In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts on what we do when our old stories rise up again. Note to self, this will always happen as life is continually throwing us challenges, and when this happens our old stories continue to surface. Since we can’t change this, it is important to focus on how fast you can reset and not let that story dictate what you choose to do next.  In today’s episode we discuss:1. Identify and recognize your old stories, and when you see them, don’t resist them.  Create a mantra or a “switch” that you can use to shift your thinking when the old story arises.  Know that your story happened for you, to make you who you are, so don’t resist your old stories.  Learning to embrace them helps you to see that your story holds your superpowers.  Schedule your Impact Call to make 2021 the year you Own Your Story, build your platform business and monetize your passion! #205: Did You Hit Your First Speed Bump Yet?

#205: Did You Hit Your First Speed Bump Yet? In this Friday facts episode, I am addressing the concept of did you hit your first speed bump of 2021?  We are halfway through the first month and I am sure by now that you hit your first speed bump, something didn’t go as planned and now you have to decide what to do next with the information you are receiving.  Remember things only have the meaning you give it, so if you give it the meaning of you have failed already in 2021, then that is what you believe.  Your words are everything. In this episode we discuss: The meaning you give your story is everything. Did you hit a speed bump, a blip, or did you learn a lesson or something about yourself? Where can you recognize that something needs to be modified, shifted, or changed? Where you can give yourself some grace or compassion? Life will continually de-rail us. Change is the norm. #203: Shame is Not the Answer

#203: Shame is Not the Answer In this Friday facts episode, I am addressing the thoughts that shaming ourselves is not the answer to creating change.  It is the first week of January and I encourage you to call out any criticism or shame you are placing on yourself for falling off your goals and for being human.  We are so critical of ourselves and quick to jump to judgment on our abilities (or lack of abilities) to succeed.  These behaviours will not produce change, change will ultimately come from changing the behaviours.   In this episode we discuss: What is your default or go-to story that you continually repeat with yourself? Recognize what it is and then create a mantra or a saying to break the pattern. This is also known as re-writing the script. Give your brain something else to focus on and believe in. Give yourself a fighting chance by re-writing your sentence, believing in your future self and give yourself a fighting chance. #201: Intentions Not Resolutions

#201: Intentions Not Resolutions

#201: Intentions Not Resolutions In this mindset episode, I am talking about intentions, not resolutions, and the power of scripting.  Before you start planning for 2021, it is important to do a self-assessment of 2020.  What were your wins, what accomplishments are you proud of and what lessons did you learn?  This exercise in scripting that I describe in detail is all about intentions and not resolutions.  Resolutions focus on external rewards and that can create anxiety, are not always achievable, and don’t reinforce the habits required to sustain long-term changes.  Intentions focus on long-term change, achievable and sustainable, and focus on the habits that create the results. #200: The Power of Ownership

#200: The Power of Ownership

#200: The Power of Ownership In this mindset episode, I am breaking down the themes and messages from the past 200 episodes, solo, and interviews, to share with you the steps to owning your choices and ultimately owning your life.  Thank you so much for all of your shares, reviews, downloads, and support.  You have helped me bring this podcast out into the world. In this episode we discuss: The tipping point for all change starts with the feelings we avoid – guilt, shame, hiding, anger, resentment, blame, etc. Deciding that we don’t want to feel these feelings any longer is when change starts. This is where we own it. Ownership is the start of radical responsibility. We recognize our role in the story, and we can then see the lessons that our story taught us. Now we are ready to embrace vulnerability – we find our voice, we build our courage, confidence and allow ourselves to be seen. #198: The Longest Journey is One You Never Start

#198: The Longest Journey is One You Never Start In this Friday fact episode, I am sharing my healing journey and talking about the process of healing. “Healing doesn’t mean the damage never happened or existed.  It means the damage no longer controls our lives.” Today I am sharing my thoughts on the process of healing and how it is a journey to heal our bodies physically, emotionally, spiritually and this is how we can actually rewrite our stories. In this episode, we discuss: The healing journey, how it is a process and something we can go through to stop carrying our past with us in a way that no longer controls our life. Whatever you don’t need to carry any longer is what you need to heal. We are always building our new identities every single day. We are our biggest commitment at all times. #197: PR for Entrepreneurs - Being More YOU Will Help You Scale Your Business with Lauren Salaun

#197: PR for Entrepreneurs- Being More YOU Will Help You Scale Your Business with Lauren Salaun Today we are speaking with PR + Influencer Marketing Expert and Consultant, Business Coach, Speaker, Lauren Salaun.  Lauren spent the first decade of her career in public relations, marketing, and advertising – with time spent in the luxury, music, and health care industries before starting her own PR and marketing business in 2015. During this time, following intense burnout from her corporate career, Lauren got back into health and fitness. A lifelong athlete, she began sharing her health journey on social media and "accidentally" started a health and fitness business, which thrived for several years before Lauren chose to focus all her energy on public relations and marketing. Today, Lauren is the CEO and founder of Influence+IMPACT, a PR and influencer marketing agency that helps entrepreneurs elevate their visibility and make a global impact. She is also the founder of The PR Accelerator, a hybrid mastermind-coaching-agency program that teaches growing entrepreneurs how to scale their business through public relations. In this episode, we discuss: Learning how powerful it is to combine both the feminine and masculine sides of ourselves and our businesses will allow us to find flow in our business and life. Learning how to be more of ourselves is the secret to scaling our business. You are the magic or secret sauce. Working in high intensity and stress can give us a ton of different experiences, yet it doesn’t typically lead to joy in our lives. Energetic burnout is real. Learning to listen to her gut, instinct and energy was the path to finding joy. No level of success is worth sacrificing your mental health or energy. #196: Let That Guilt Go

#196: Let That Guilt Go

#196: Let That Guilt Go In this mindset episode, we are talking about the concept of guilt, the difference between shame and guilt, and how much guilt weighs when we carry it. This quote by Audre Lorde explains it perfectly. “Guilt is not a response to anger; it is a response to one’s own actions or lack of action.  If it leads to change then it can be useful, since it is then no longer guilt but the beginning of knowledge.” In this episode, we discuss: Guilt is an emotion that keeps us at a standstill and is a focus on the fact that we are judging ourselves and feeling like we are never doing enough or doing enough of the right things. Christmas will be different this year no matter what we do because of how this year is unfolding. It is easy to drop into overcompensating this year but that is a story we are creating and telling ourselves. How can we recognize guilt in our lives and where we are putting the shackles on our own feet to keep us stuck in our stories? When we hold onto the guilt the weight of it only increases, and our own self-care is likely diminishing in the process. We don’t realize the weight of guilt until we decide to stop carrying it. It is time to let go of guilt and stop punishing ourselves by reframing the story and forgive ourselves for the guilt we have put on ourselves. When we hold onto guilt, we cannot be in gratitude for what we have accomplished, and we cannot stay in the present moment. This is when gratitude is possible and the most powerful. Friend. Poet. Mentor. Human. She is a believer in fundamental rights, standing up for oneself, owning your truth, and being a kind and compassionate human being, leaving a positive impact wherever possible. Shannon lives with her family in London, Ontario and, when not writing or nurturing others, you can find her at the hockey rink or horse barn with her boys, or cuddled on the couch with her rescue dog, Berney. In this episode, we discuss: The power of finding ourselves in our stories even though it is an incredibly difficult situation. Being quiet and hiding in our stories doesn’t serve anyone. This is a punishment to ourselves. What does Owning your Truth mean, and how Shannon’s mental health and healing was far more important than the discomfort of others. When we turn the inner dialogue off to protect others, we stop listening to our own intuition and voice. Trauma is relative to your own individual experience in life as a human being. Shannon speaks openly about how trauma impacts and affects our brain and how we then process those pieces. We have to deal with the root causes of our trauma in order to move through it. Shannon shares her experience with postpartum depression and psychosis, PTSD, and how she worked to find her living on the other side of PTSD. #194: The Power of Trusting Your Body with Naomi Rotstein Today we are speaking with Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach, Naomi Rotstein.  Naomi has been a Certified Personal Trainer in Boston for the past 12 years. She holds a BS in Exercise Science, Precision Nutrition Certified, and a certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Qualifications are important, but what is even more important when it comes to helping others is that she has been there and she gets it. Naomi has experienced the highs and lows of body image from severe overtraining, disordered eating to recovery, and optimal health. As a former fitness competitor, she spent years struggling with body image and dieting. She was constantly over-exercising and under-eating to maintain my show physique all year. After suffering a peptic ulcer at age 26, she made it my mission to heal my relationship with her body and obsessive thoughts of food. She helped hundreds of women reach their wellness goals. Her clients gain confidence and learn healthy lifestyle choices through scaling back on cardio, lifting heavy, and eating intuitively. The experiences she had and her own personal journey to get to a happier, healthier place with her body gave her the passion & inspiration to help others do the same. In this episode, we discuss: Learning to love herself and freeing herself from the all or nothing mindset was the key to healing her relationship with her body and mind. There is so much power in learning how to change our mindset, tweak our thoughts and words, and trust ourselves and our bodies. #193: A Gift You Give to Yourself

#193: A Gift You Give to Yourself In this mindset episode, we are talking about the concept of forgiveness and how learning to forgive ourselves for something that we have been holding onto is actually the best gift you can give to yourself.  Forgiveness is the practice of healing vs hurting yourself.  This quote by Brandon Bays says it all, “True forgiveness is one of the most healing releasing and freeing gifts we give to ourselves.” In this episode, we discuss: Bring awareness to the one area of your life where you know you can forgive yourself. Ask yourself, “did you make the best decision you could with the information you had at that time?” Don’t put hindsight into your judgment of yourself.  Follow the 80/20 rule and put 80% of your energy to create a different future and 20% into understanding the lessons that you learned. Own it to change it. Own the decisions that you made to get to this point in order to create change. This gives your power to yourself instead of your past stories. Where can you see it in a different light? Would your advice to a friend be the same that you give to yourself? We are always extremely hard on ourselves. Let it go, let it go, let it go. When in doubt, let it go, it is already in the past. Ask for help wherever you need it. #192: Watch Your Expectations

#192: Watch Your Expectations In this Friday fact episode, I am sharing my thoughts on expectations and how especially at this time of year, especially in the year 2020, that we have to be aware and mindful of the expectations we are placing on ourselves.  The holiday season is approaching and this year will be different for all of us, and to give ourselves a fighting chance for success, it starts with watching our expectations. In this episode, we discuss: The definition of expectations is putting our energy into trying to control future events that we have zero control over. This is not a great use of our energy which is our highest commodity resource that we have. #191: The End of Your Story Has Not Been Written Yet with Craig Siegel

#191: The End of Your Story Has Not Been Written Yet with Craig Siegel Today we are speaking with Life Coach and Performance Enhancer, Craig Siegel. In order to understand Craig, you have to understand his vision. You see this isn’t about Craig. It’s not about the money, or to be noticed. Craig learned many years ago that he has a strong ability to communicate and help people want to become better. He decided it was his responsibility to help elevate everyone he possibly could. And the goal has always been to be able to do this on a much grander scale so that he can reach a much larger audience and make a gigantic impact. Craig believes that while people are not broken, their frames often are. He alters their map of the world and revamps their mindset, thus leading to unbelievable breakthroughs in all facets of life. In this episode, we discuss: There is so much power in learning how to change our mindset, tweak our thoughts and words. We deserve to wake up excited about our day, about our lives, and by asking ourselves questions as to what fulfillment means to us and then having the courage to follow through. Cultivate Lasting Symphony (C.L.S) Craig’s initials, built the foundation of his business as he dove into helping people realize that their best life is always ahead of us. #190: The Power of Gratitude

#190: The Power of Gratitude

#190: The Power of Gratitude In this mindset episode, we are talking about the concept of gratitude.  As we enter the final month of 2020, after a year of so much change and unpredictability, I know that this can be a very overwhelming time of the year.  Today, I share some tips on gratitude and how it can be the number one thing to change our perspective. This quote from Oprah sums it up perfectly, “Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have you will never have enough.” In this episode, we discuss: Creating a daily gratitude practice, something that you consciously do every day and focus on specific things that you are excited and grateful for. When it shifts your energy it can potentially change someone else’s energy.  This is the ripple effect that we can all be a part of. Your brain will go wherever you tell it to go. What we focus on expands. The more negative our thoughts, the more we will see things that will reinforce our negative thoughts. Be intentional and consistent about gratitude practice. Consistency pays off. What you listen to, watch, who you surround yourself with will all play a part in your ability to shift your thinking and be grateful. Someone somewhere is always experiencing more challenges or hardships. It is called a gratitude practice for a reason. #189: When to Talk More Than Listen In this Friday fact episode, I am sharing a quote by James Gills, the only man to complete 6xs Double Ironman (I mistakenly said triathalon in the episode), and when he was asked how he did it, he said this, “I’ve learned to talk to myself instead of listening to myself.”  I shared how this quote landed for me in this brief episode. In this episode, we discuss: How toxic our thoughts are and we should spend more time talking to ourselves instead of listening to ourselves. By taking ownership of the words we use to talk to ourselves we are giving ourselves a fighting chance. I shared a personal story on how I have been focusing on the words I speak as opposed to the words I hear myself say, especially when I get into a negative spiral. #188: Embracing the Process of Life with Kesten Hill Today we are speaking with Podcaster, Processor of Emotions and Instigator of Change, Kesten Hill.  Kesten Jean is a mindfulness advocate and wellness-based podcaster. She has a love for mountains, all things vintage, the colour green, and meditation. She is the host of The Process Podcast, which celebrates the highs, lows, splendid and not so splendid twists and turns that the journey called life has to offer. Here she aspires to be relatable, honest, and mindful. She aims to add a smackeral of hope and a sliver of light to anyone who chooses to listen. Weaving mindfulness, humour, her individual story, and those of others, to create a platform that radiates compassion. She believes that when people come together and share their journey, including the hardships. These stories and journeys have the ability to plant a seed of hope in another's heart. Her life as like everyone’s, has been the process of getting knocked down and having the courage to choose whether or not she shall rise. This is her process of owning her choices to own her life. In this episode, we discuss: Kesten shares how she deliberately removed herself from social media, why she did that, and the impact it had on her life. She recognized how social media was a rabbit hole of living in comparison with others. Kesten is fueled by powerful connections and the role of vulnerability in creating connections. Kesten recognized that being highly sensitive was actually a gift. She spent many of her early years fighting illnesses, living with a severely compromised immune, communicating via lipreading, and living in a state of fight or flight. This led to Kesten experiencing trauma and anxiety from a young age and this put her into a box. The power of meditation, breathing and slowing down our daily practices, and the power of self-compassion and grace with ourselves. In every moment of the pivot, Joanna asks herself 3 questions about pivoting. “Enjoy the rollercoaster of life”, this is Joanna’s screensaver and reminder that we don’t have control of anything in our life. The ride up on the rollercoaster is the highest anxiety point of the journey and the downhill is the fun part of the ride.  What if we looked at life the same way? #186: Your Greatest Calling

#186: Your Greatest Calling

#186: Your Greatest Calling In this mindset episode, we are talking about the concept of our greatest calling. Our greatest calling can be wrapped up in our greatest challenges.  Our deepest pain can be the launching pad for our greatest calling.  I’ve referred to this quote many times in my life, “If your path is more difficult, it’s because you have a higher calling”, Jonas Meteling.  If this speaks to you, this episode is for you. In this episode, we discuss: We all have a calling. Sometimes it is wrapped up in our greatest challenges. Read the War of Art by Steven Pressfield.  Such an incredible book! When we ask different questions, we can see things differently. It opens up our eyes to the possibilities in front of us, instead of focusing on the problem that we are seeing. We all have strengths that we can focus on instead of the stories (challenges) that we let define us. Create a mantra to refocus your thinking when the challenge feels too big or overwhelming. I used to remind myself that I had I was in this challenge because I was able to handle it. We can step outside of ourselves and see that the solutions that we have can be very helpful to someone else. In fact, it could change their story completely, which could change ours too.   Book your free Impact Call https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/impact-call This is the last week to join the November class of Owning Your Story—Creating a Business with Your Story. #185: Moving Through Doubt

#185: Moving Through Doubt

#185: Moving Through Doubt In this Friday fact episode, we are talking about the concept of doubt and how much we let doubt stop us from moving forward on our goals.  We give doubt so much power instead of just calling it emotion and not giving it so much energy.  The opposite of doubt is confidence and we can only increase our confidence by doing.  We either feed the fear and doubt or we feed the faith that we can move forward. Here are a few tips to move through the feelings of doubt. In this episode, we discuss: Living in doubt means that you are questioning all of your possibilities for the future, and those are all the things that you cannot control. Look back to all of the things you have overcome or achieved. Where can you use any contrary evidence to prove that your beliefs are not accurate and that your doubt doesn’t serve a purpose? Ask different questions. Don’t train your brain for all of the what if’s or what could go wrong.  Instead, ask how does it get any better than this? Ask questions that focus on your strengths and not your weaknesses. I love this quote by Hanoch McCarty, “It is not who you are that holds you back, it is who you think you are not.” Remember you choose what you feel. #184: From Cubicle to CEO - The Entrepreneur's Secret to Success with Ellen Yin Today we are speaking with Podcast Host/CEO, Ellen Yin.  Ellen is the founder of Cubicle to CEO, an online membership teaching service provider that teaches you how to attract consistent clients so they can make their first $10K month, without a large audience or posting every day. Through her social media agency, Ellen Yin Media, Ellen has worked with multi-million-dollar brands, Fortune 500 executives, and best-selling authors. She has been featured on MTV and in publications like LA Style, Authority Magazine, The Penny Hoarder, Disrupt Magazine, and Her Campus. Ellen is also the host of the award-winning Cubicle to CEO Podcast, which features weekly interviews with top business leaders and successful entrepreneurs. In this episode, we discuss: Ellen graduated from college, debt-free by following Dave Ramsey’s mentoring, and this helped her to open her thoughts to entrepreneurship and what was possible. Each new level of your business and growth can require different mentors to level up and grow. Ellen transferred college twice and quit her corporate job without a backup plan. Being open to possibilities and connections can lead you to places you can never plan or imagine. 2020 has taught us to stay open to so many possibilities as we cannot control or predict what is coming next. Sometimes it can actually be a time of massive growth. Business, media, and visibility are all about relationships. You never know where one opportunity can lead, and that is an opportunity without a hidden agenda. #183: Be the Leader You Wish You Had

#183: Be the Leader You Wish You Had In this mindset episode, we are talking about the concept of leadership and how we start with learning to lead ourselves first.  If you are someone who has craved learning about leadership, or leading others, it is most likely because you wish that someone had been there to lead you on your journey.  Leading yourself means owning the habits, rituals, mindset, actions, and programming that make you the best version of you.  In this episode, we discuss: Identify what you need to do on a daily basis in order to be the best version of ourselves. Leadership is a turning point and solving a problem that exists. The answers you have learned on your journey are not basic. They are valuable for someone else. Leadership is using your voice and finding your courage to stand up and go first. It can be a very lonely journey in the very beginning.  If you feel called to be a leader it is most likely that you wished someone had been there to lead you. What would it feel like to be the leader for someone else?
