In 2015, I quit drinking, and  my life began changing dramatically and rapidly, all for the better. I  wrote my first book about my experience getting sober, and the methods I  developed in order to do so. This book is  "Alcoholics Not Anonymous." While seeking out substitutes  for alcohol, I rediscovered my love for adventure. I began devouring  sailing nonfiction books. I used the money I saved from my first year of  not drinking to buy a week-long sailing class  . I bought my first sailboat later that year, Sobrius, in St Petersburg, FL, and sailed her alone to the Dry Tortugas, then  Miami, and finally to St Augustine. The trip covered 1000 miles and was  an adventure that I will  never be able to repeat. I wrote about this experience, in my second  book, "Becoming a Sailor." ​ In 2018, I sailed alone to The  Bahamas and spent 2 months exploring the islands and searching for  adventure. I found more than I bargained for, and wrote about this in my  third book, "Journey to the Ragged Islands." ​ In the summer of 2019, I sold  my house, quit my job, gave away or sold all my belongings, and bought a  bigger boat, a 1972 Cartwright 40, Windflower. I bought her in  Massachusetts, worked on her for three months, then sailed her to The  Bahamas, solo. I arrived on New Year's Day and spent four months in The  Bahamas. I wrote about this experience in my book  "Chasing the Nomadic Dream." I've since written two novels, "Dead  Flowers on Wednesday" and "The Gold Box," and a sequel to my first book,  called "The Joy of Living Clean and Sober." ​ My happiness journey started  with the realization that something was missing in my life. Through much  introspection, I determined that I needed to chase the dream of being a  nomadic sailor. I designed a plan to make  this happen, and took the steps in the plan. This is my dream, and I am  living it. John Callas is a veteran director/writer/producer in the entertainment industry. He began life losing his father at three triggering his anger, depression and anxiety. By twelve he was sent to military school due to extreme behavior issues. This added abandonment to the already problematic issues he was facing. By high school it go to the point where he attempted suicide to stop the pain. Realizing this was not the way he wanted his life he decided to seek help through therapy and mentors. The first thing he looked at was that oddly enough his depression was a safe haven. Lonely, dark and unsustainable but safe from the outside world. Again he made the choice to find a way out of the rabbit hole. Not knowing how to heal he accepted help from others and therapy. It was in therapy he discovered that others suffered like he did and that he wasn't unique in his pain. Making the decision to heal and have a healthy and loving life began a long journey of baby steps leading him to a successful career in the entertainment business in Hollywood. Some of his work is iconic. His confidence began to grow until he became the person he imagined himself to be. While he acknowledges that at times depression slips back in, the difference is that he controls it and it doesn't control him. His process is to allow himself to look at what is bothering him, find a solution and move on. It isn't always easy but with perseverance he always wins. He decided he wanted to help others so he wrote "When The Rain Stops," his memoir (on Amazon) of his beginning (depression) and how he managed to have a happy and successful life. He wants to help others find their way by his example. Diagnosed at age 8 with Touret syndrome, Doctor Shirag was born and raised by immigrant parents from lebanon. Throughout his young years, he had to challenge himself and get bullied by his classmate because of his many tics due to Touret. After receiving his diagnosis, he was able to validate his illness and start working on himself to cope with it and having to deal with this illness for the rest of his life. His dream to becoming an NBA basketball player didn’t pan out so he had to put his energy into his studies and becoming a clinical psychologist. He succeeded greatly in everything he did in life despite having Touret and helped thousands of patients through their own journey dealing with mental illness. Even though many of his patients had also similar illness, his focus was in all type of mental issues. Dr Shirag is a very knowledgeable and down to earth man, husband and father of a 3 year old young boy. We share so many things in common, which is the love for helping others. If you are looking for someone unique to connect with, Erin D’elia is the one person to reach. At the age of 3, she went through a very traumatic incident where her dog bit her face and had to go trhough surgery being awake and feeling every aspect of the lengthy operation. This in itself brought in series of seizure all through her 20’s. With proper meditation and breathing exercises (Kundalini breathing), she was able to eradicate these seizure from her body and live a healthy life.  She has not yet experience any all through her 30’s. She shares her story with the many out there that are looking to find ways to heal, both mentally and physically. Erin will certainly provide you with the tools to achieve these goals. Obviously, expecting to see miraculous healing in a matter of days will render disappointments, it is important to understand that these practices requires time and mastering to feel positive changes happening in subatomic level. After going through some personal changes in her won life, Sophie had to go through difficult challenges, including but not limited to: alcohol abuse and developing eating disorder such as bulimia. After some sort of divine intervention, she was able to distance herself from all alcohol by taking affirmative action and make these drastic changes. Her spiritual journey wasn’t easy but she knew about the person she wanted to become and made it happen. I had the privilege to have her on my podcast and she found her calling to becoming happy. All she wants now is to help others reach their own version of happiness. Again, we all live a different journey but happiness does have a common denominator: It is called changes. When you decide that change is imminent to get to a better place in your life, this is when your journey to happiness begins. Kristina is a wonderful therapist working with the many out there seeking happiness. Being a therapist myself and author, I love surrounding myself with amazing people promoting happiness, the study of positive psychology. Many wonder if happiness is a feeling or a choice, so this podcast will probably provide you with that answer. Can you stay happy every day? Absolutely not. However, by acknowledging that some days you will be sad or angry or depressed, make sure you accept these days as temporary moments to learn from and move on. Staying too long in these zones can be detrimental to your mental and physical health. Focusing too much on controlling every aspect of your life is what will bring in more disappointments. Learn to let go of things just like Kristina said and accept that some times, you must let the Universe to carry some of that weight off your shoulders. In the case of physical abuse, she recommends to take what you can from what you can access immediately and leave as your life depends on it, because in reality, it really does. Your well being is crucial and you can’t allow yourself to be another statistic. Expect hell to be coming after you file for separation or divorce as this narcissistic person will keep haunting you as much as they are capable of.
