I came across my next guest on Instagram at a time that I really needed her to show up and the series of events that followed from that moment were all thanks to the divine guidance of the universe. Alexi Bracey is a Thriving as you age Coach based in Toronto, Canada. Alexi's cancer diagnosis saved her life because of her tenacity and determination. Spending hours doing research at libraries and bookstores she conquered cancer without drugs, surgery or any medical intervention within a year. She has spent the last 20 years, learning all she could about health nutritionally, emotionally and environmentally. A recent trip to a nursing home changed her direction when she saw firsthand the devastating effects of dementia on some of the residents: no eye contact, no interaction, cutting up their food, feeding them. Even more shocking was that some of the residents were younger than Alexi. Today, she educates people that dementia can be prevented, stopped, and in some cases reversed. In our discussion we talk about ageing and retirement and how our attitudes and language need to change, along with the food and care provided for the elderley. When I recently found myself going down a media rabbit hole surrounding the death of George Floyd during an arrest in the USA and the subsequent global riots, protests and solidarity around the Black Lives Matter movement - I could feel the energy of a generation of pain.
