Welcome to the Run Eat Drink Podcast!  This is the podcast where we embark on exciting adventures, combining our love for running, delicious food, and tasty beverages. Whether you’re an elite runner aiming for victory or just starting your “Couch to 5K” journey, we’ve got something for you. Let’s dive into the three pillars of our show:Accomplish (Run): Accomplishment is deeply personal. Are you eyeing a race series win, planning your next “run-cation,” or hoping to set a personal record in your next half-marathon? Each week, we feature fantastic destination races from around the country. Discover scenic courses, learn about the charities they support, and get inspired to lace up those running shoes. And when we’re not on the road, we share interviews, training tips, and insights from our own running journey.Explore (Eat): Running and traveling go hand in hand. As we explore new places, we also explore local cuisine. We seek out hidden gems—the eateries that locals rave about. Bold flavors, interesting dishes, and passion for food—that’s what we’re after. After each race, join us as we wander the city streets, discovering post-race refueling spots. Whether it’s a gastropub, a food truck, or a cozy café, we’ve got dining options to satisfy your cravings.Indulge (Drink): When the running is done, it’s time to unwind. We raise our glasses to celebrate our accomplishments. Local breweries, coffee shops, speakeasies, and watering holes—these are our destinations. From craft beers to artisanal cocktails, we explore the beverage scene. Cheers to a well-deserved drink after crossing the finish line!Join us on this journey of accomplishment, exploration, and indulgence. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a curious foodie, there’s a place for you at the Run Eat Drink Podcast.

RED Episode 14: Fit Foodie Flashback December 2017

RED Episode 14: Fit Foodie Flashback December 2017

Send us a textThis is a flashback episode.  We registered for the Fit Foodie 5K and planned to run it in September of 2017.  Then Hurricane Irma had other plans and it got postponed to December 2017.  If you all have been following me on social media, you know I had an injury during December as well as a crazy holiday schedule that delayed some of my podcasts.  So this is a look back at a fun race where we met some amazing people.  RUNThe Fit Foodie 5K course had a long and tall bridge in Clearwater, so if this race series comes back and you need to practice some hills, it is a great one.  The John Hancock Village with food and beverages afterward was a great time.  If you are not local to Florida, they run this series all over the country.  So be sure to check it out near you if it comes back next year! CHARITYWe talked with Jessica Bomberg, Vice President for Peer-to-Peer Fundraising with No Kid Hungry.  She talked about their amazing organization and what they do to fight childhood hunger. Please consider running next year, donating on their website, or volunteering to help their cause.  (Not a paid advertisement, we just think what they do is great.) EATNext we stopped by to see Rene Marquis cook some Cauliflower Fried Rice.  It had Forbidden Rice, Tofu, Edamame, and more.  The smell of the soy sauce and spices would have made your mouth water and it is healthy.  It was a tasty dish and looked so easy to make!   DRINKNext up, Dunedin Brewery and a chat with Mike Graff from sales and distribution.  We tried an Apricot Peach American Wheat Beer they brought along and Mike helped us toast our accomplishment.  It is one of the most established breweries in Florida, so if you are ever in town, check them out! Thanks for watching!  Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes. RED Episode 13: Superheroes Half Marathon at Disneyland, Torta at Sabroso, and Master Eisei at MB Post

Send us a textIn this episode we run one of our all-time favorite races, the Superheroes Half Marathon at Disneyland in Anaheim California.  RUNWe run through all of the parks and get a look at the beautiful Paradise Pier in early morning.  Then we run the streets of Anaheim on the way to Angel Stadium.  We run through Angel Stadium and back to Disneyland where we cross the finish line to earn the Black Widow Half Marathon Medal and the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge Medal for completing both the 10K and Half this weekend.  While there are usually more sights to see in Angel Stadium, this was still a favorite and we are so happy we were there one last time.  Keep an eye out for fellow podcaster @RunEatRepeat!  EATYes, we couldn’t help ourselves and went back to Sabroso but this time for their amazing Torta! That is a great sandwich! DRINKWe headed out to Manhattan Beach and to the MB Post to experience an original cocktail made by one of the bartenders there.  It is amazing and delicious! THAT’S A WRAPThanks for watching!  Be sure to visit our website at www.runeatdrink.net to connect with us.  Or subscribe and rate us on iTunes, we’d love to hear your feedback and get discovered by your friends and family!  Check us out on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, too!   See you again soon as we accomplish, explore and indulge together!    Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Episode #12 Thor 10K, Dessert at Sabroso, and Cocktails at MB Post

Send us a textIn this episode, we run the Thor 10K at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.RUNIt was a great race all throughout all of the Disneyland Parks. Early morning might be a tough wake up call but the parks are just beautiful and the characters and sights make it all worthwhile. Here’s a look at the course: EATWe head back to Sabroso! For a great dessert: guava tamales. A delicious offering from their newly opened coffee shop just a couple of doors down from their restaurant. Sweet guava and savory corn tamales homemade and served warm. Quite tasty!DRINKFinally, we try a great cocktail from the Manhattan Beach Post, or MB Post. Yes, we drove outside the Anaheim area, but it was worth it. We tried the Manhattan Avenue cocktail with bacon dust. That’s right, bacon dust. It was amazing.THAT’S A WRAP!Thank you for watching! RED Episode #11: Spider-Man 5K, Sabroso!, and Tin Roof Bistro

Send us a textIn this episode, we run the first of three final races to be held at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.  It is the SuperHeroes Half Marathon Weekend.  This is our favorite RunDisney race series and we are so sad to see them on hiatus (hopefully and not canceled for good).RUNThis is the SpiderMan 5K.  The course is great through the parks and beautifully lit up with characters all along the course and people cheering you on all along the way, both employees and fans of Disneyland! Here’s a map of the course we took:    EATWelcome to one of our favorite all-time restaurants, which has also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Sabroso!  Actually located in Garden Grove, about 10 minutes away from Disneyland, Guy Fieri has featured some amazing dishes from here, but we have a breakfast dish that is out of this world!   DRINKWe took off to Manhattan Beach for this one and stopped at the Tin Roof Bistro.  It is such a quaint little place minutes from the beach.  They have great craft beers on tap and we featured the Nut Brown Ale from AleSmith Brewing Company out of San Diego, California.   THAT’S A WRAP!Thank you for watching! RED Episode 10: Wine and Dine Half Marathon & Canada Epcot Food and Wine Festival

RED Episode 10: Wine and Dine Half Marathon & Canada Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Send us a textThis was a tough episode for me to do because of how the race turned out for me.  I had surgery for a torn meniscus, and I had not done the work of losing the weight for this race, so my knee decided not to cooperate this time around. A sad result, but I will come back next year and fight for redemption using the lessons I learned this year. But, it is a race that everyone should know about and if you love to Run, Eat, and Drink, like I do, hence the podcast, then the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend are events you should check out!In this episode, we recap the race, and show for the first time on a RunDisney race course, Pandora in Animal Kingdom, which was just beautiful.  We wanted to complete the other 3 miles to earn the half marathon medal that they gave us, even though we could not earn the challenge medal.  So we were off to the World Showcase at Epcot and we walked it three times to complete the rest of “our race.”That gave us the chance to share the beer cheese soup from Canada and Moosehead Lager with you.  They are amazing samplings from the Food and Wine Festival.  We have others to come in upcoming Quick Bites. It was an amazing time and I highly recommend RunDisney weekends.  They may be pricey, but the course through the parks, the characters on the course, the entertainment, and the bling are all reasons to consider a runcation at Walt Disney World in Orlando.  That is why I featured this race, despite what happened. Here's a look at the course:So, thanks for watching. Be sure to subscribe and rate us on iTunes.  I'd love to hear your feedback and it helps us get discovered by others who might want to check out the places where we run, eat, and drink.  Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.  Or be sure to visit the website at www.runeatdrink.net.   Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Quick BIte #27: 10K at Walt Disney World Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend

Send us a textIn this Quick Bite, we recap the 10K at the 2017 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  We did the 10K as part of the Two-Course Challenge. You can find out more about this Orlando and Walt Disney World race weekend on Run Disney’s website. It was a nice course that started through the streets around Walt Disney World, then took us to Hollywood Studios, along the water and the awesome scenery as the sun came up along the BoardWalk, and we finished around the World Showcase at Epcot.Check out some scenery and a recap of what it was like along the course in this short quick bite. Here is the course map of where we ran 10K.I discovered what it was like to have some left in the tank at the end of a race to surge and finish ahead of the balloon ladies.  For those who don’t know, I talk about who they are in this quick bite.  They are such nice ladies that help us keep pace.  I just wish I had reserved more for the half marathon because I think my surge here coupled with my previous knee injury had an impact on my Half Marathon performance the following day.  More on that in an upcoming episode.Thank you for watching! RED Quick Bite #26: Sparkle Skirts

Send us a textOur second stop at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend Expo was Sparkle Skirts.  Jill Collins, Expo Manager for Sparkle Skirts, took time to tell us what makes Sparkle Skirts great for running at any distance.  I ran in a HikerChic Sparkle Skirt at the Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend, and it was an awesome experience.  It totally eliminated the need for a running belt at the race.  If you have any experience with Sparkle Skirts, please share it with us or with the world on social media with #sparkleskirts.  Follow them on all of their social media @SparkleSkirts, too!Thank you for watching! Quick Bite #25 Night Runner 270 Shoe Lights

Send us a textThis is the first Quick Bite from the 2017 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World.  At the start of any race weekend at Walt Disney World, it is time to pick up our race bibs and check out the expo.At the expo, we met Renata and Doug Storer, who were featured on Shark Tank for their Night Runner 270 Shoe Lights.  These are great for safety when running in early morning or after dark in the evening.   They took time to talk with us about their product.  Check out their website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube to find out more.  My husband purchased these lights and we will be reviewing them in a later episode, but here, we interviewed Doug and Renata, not because it is a paid advertisement, but because we believe in staying safe as runners and this is a great product that helps us do just that, so we decided to feature it on the podcast.Thank you for watching! Send us a textIn this Quick Bite, we return to Mike White, Director of Brewing Operations at LauderAle Brewery and Tap Room.In our last episode, Mike talked about the importance of reverse osmosis and adding just the right minerals to mimic water from a certain area when making beer.  He also described the importance and role of the grains and barley in creating beer.  In this Quick Bite, he focuses on one of his favorites, hops, as well as yeast and its role in the beer making process. Thanks for watching. RED Episode 9: Running Wild, Drinking Great Beer, and Tio’s Urban Dominican Food at LauderAle Brewery

RED Episode 9: Running Wild, Drinking Great Beer, and Tio’s Urban Dominican Food at LauderAle Brewery

Send us a textThis was an amazing episode to film. Thanks to Ryan Buynak and all the people at LauderAle Brewery and Tap Room for inviting me to film and to the Running Wild LauderAle Run Club for inviting us to tag along on their Monday 5K.RunRunning Wild, a Fort Lauderdale Running Store, partners with LauderAle to host a 5K run every Monday night at 6:30 at LauderAle. It is a fun run that takes us from the brewery through the industrial park near the airport and back again. And what made the run wild? Monkeys. That’s right, stay tuned during the course highlights for monkeys.EatIf you want authentic Dominican food, come get some from Chef Blas Baldepina at Tio’z Urban Dominican Food Truck. We tried the fried cheese that needed no breading, the tasty fried plantains called tostones, and finally, chicharron de pollo. You need “smell-o-vision” to do all of these justice. The homemade spicy chili sauce was simply the best compliment to this meal. We were lucky enough to film inside the truck as Blas was making our meal, and we will feature that in an upcoming Quick Bite.DrinkWe got to go behind the beer and in this episode we feature Mike White, who is in charge of the brewing process at LauderAle. He gave us an introduction to making beer, starting with the water and barley, and he will continue this talk in another Quick Bite very soon.LauderAle just won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival for their C-Porter, so it seemed appropriate to sample the porter that earned them top honors. With flavors like a hint of caramel, chocolate, and coconut, this dark beer is right up my alley, and I can see why it took home the prize! It is like a mounds bar in a glass, but this Porter is lighter in body than most at 6.2% ABV.Thanks for watching.  Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes, visit our website, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. RED Quick Bite #21 Bury Me Brewing Soulless

RED Quick Bite #21 Bury Me Brewing Soulless

Send us a textThis is the last beer we sampled at Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers after the Cops and Joggers 5K, hosted by Fort Myers Police Department and Fort Myers Track Club.  😞This is Soulless, a Scotch Ale, but it has a soul!  It is lighter than its red color lets on and has toffee and caramel notes without being sweet like a mead or barley wine.  It is 7.5% ABV, so I don’t know that I could have too many of them without an Uber, Lyft, or designated driver, but it is one to savor as you sip it.Thanks for watching.  Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes, visit our website, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. RED Quick Bite #20 Bury Me Brewing Creamation

Send us a textAfter the Fort Myers Police Department’s Cops and Joggers 5K, we headed to Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers to try a flight of their beers, and they did not disappoint. On this quick bite, we feature a lighter and easy-drinking kind of beer called Creamation.  It has notes of honey and orange. If you are familiar with Orange Blossom Pilsner, think of those flavors.  Not super sweet, this is a sessionable beer you can have on a hot summer night or after completing a race for a great cause, like the FMPD Cops and Joggers race to benefit Fallen Officers Memorial Fund and Brotherhood Ride. RED Quick Bite 18: Behind the Mission of Misson BBQ

Send us a textThis is a quick bite from the Fort Myers Police Department’s 10th annual Cops and Joggers 5K.  They organize the race to support the Fallen Officers Memorial Foundation and the Brotherhood Ride to honor officers lost in the line of duty this each year. Mission BBQ was at the race and the General Manager of their Fort Myers, Florida location, Adam Palladino, took time to talk with us about why the founders are so passionate about supporting first responders, military, police, and veterans.  Adam also gave us a peek behind the delicious flavors of Mission BBQ.  These restaurants are located all over the United States and if you come to one, their passion to serve those who serve this country is evident.  You can taste their dedication to creating delicious dishes in every bite of their food from brisket to pulled pork and sausage as well as amazing sides like mac and cheese and desserts.  You should stop by if you ever see a location or if you find them supporting a community event like we did. Thanks for watching.  Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes, visit our website, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. RED Episode 8: FMPD Cops and Joggers 5K, Mission BBQ, and Bury Me Brewing

RED Episode 8: FMPD Cops and Joggers 5K, Mission BBQ, and Bury Me Brewing

Send us a textRUNWe are so excited to feature the Cops and Joggers 5K in this episode.  Fort Myers Police Department in partnership with Fort Myers Track Club hosted this nighttime race to benefit the Fallen Officer Memorial Fund and Brotherhood Ride.  It is a cause near and dear to my heart because I have been married to a police officer for 19 years.  I talked with the Race Director, Lieutenant Jeffery Bernice about the race. The Fallen Officer Memorial Fund supports families of officers lost in the line of duty and the Brotherhood Ride honors officers who have made that ultimate sacrifice.  This is the tenth year of the race and it was moved to an evening race to entice more runners and create a family fun night.  It delivered a fun experience for all.  I highly recommend this race for anyone living in the Southwest Florida area.  We got goodie bags that included a runner blinking light, a pen, a sample of BioFreeze (a great friend for sore muscles after a race), a t-shirt with a great tagline, and a keychain with the Cops and Joggers logo. EATAt the Cops and Joggers 5K, we got the chance to try Mission BBQ.  They are on a mission to support the Military, Police Officers, and Firefighters as well as other worthy causes.  They were serving up Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken Sliders along with Macaroni and Cheese.  Amazing flavors!  There are locations all over the United States and we highly recommend visiting one to try their amazing BBQ.  We have a Quick Bite coming up soon that features an interview with the General Manager of the Fort Myers location, Adam Palladino. DRINKFinally, after we ran our race and accomplished our goal, we needed to explore the new Octoberfest Brew launched by Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers. Danse Macabre Marzen was the first that we tried.  It was a good version of an Octoberfest beer.  This funky little place has a great vibe and wide selection of beers.  Yes, we got a flight and will share the other beers on Quick Bites soon! This was a great journey around Fort Myers.  Let us know where we should go next!  Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes, visit our website, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. RED Quick Bite #17: We're Back!

RED Quick Bite #17: We're Back!

Send us a textQuick Bite #17 We are recovering from Hurricane Irma and getting back into a regular schedule of running, eating, and drinking.Originally, we were supposed to have an awesome September, with an episode from the Fit Foodie Run in Clearwater and an interview from Olympic Silver Medalist and 2014 Boston Marathon Champion, Meb Keflezighi.  Then, that very same week, were headed back to Boca Raton to interview someone from Barrel of Monks Brewery and run in the Sprint and Sip, from the same community organization, Levis JCC, that hosted Run, Sweat, and Beers back in July.  However, Irma had other plans for us.  We will still be participating in the Fit Foodie Run, which has been rescheduled for December 2017.  We will feature the Sprint and Sip on its rescheduled date in March 2018.  So we have some amazing content for future episodes! For now, it is less than 40 days from the Wine and Dine 2-Course Challenge and Infinity Gauntlet Challenge.  I can’t believe it and I am so nervous.  I want to be ready!  So our focus in October, will be getting back to regular episodes and featuring some aspects of our Galloway Training, gear for upcoming races, our progress toward weight loss goals, and some great adult beverages (because our weight loss plan still incorporates indulgences every now and then).  We may even be able to get in another 5K race before our busy schedule in November. Thanks for your patience and your continued support of our podcast.  Please be sure and visit our Facebook page or reach out to us on Twitter or Instagram to let us know where we should accomplish, explore, and indulge next! Subscribe, rate, and review our podcast on iTunes.  We'd love to hear your feedback!Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Quick Bite #15 Cadence Drills with Jeff Galloway

Quick Bite #15 Cadence Drills with Jeff Galloway

Send us a textWelcome back for another Quick Bite!  This time it is a “bite” of information about Jeff Galloway’s Training Program, using the Run-Walk-Run Method. On Sunday, August 6th, America’s Coach and Olympian, Jeff Galloway, hosted a running school at the Orlando Track Shack in Orlando, Florida. He talked about the different aspects of his training program including the long run component, the maintenance runs during the week, and drills that can improve your cadence and ability to use momentum to conserve resources when running. Here, in this quick bite, he talks about Cadence Drills.  They are a type of drill that I practice once a week, usually on a Tuesday or a Thursday, to increase turnover, or the number of steps I can get into a 15 or 30-second interval.  It helps me remember to keep the stride short and the steps quick to increase that turnover, but do it in such a way that does not leave me huffing and puffing. These drills really challenge me and at the end I am usually covered in sweat, and I've hit a barrier where I can't do anymore steps because I am huffing and puffing.  That's when I know it is time to back off on the number of steps I do within that 30-seconds. Early in the training season, I do 4 every Tuesday along with 4 of the Acceleration Gliders.  I work up to doing 6-8 on a Tuesday.   I can really tell when I have been doing them consistently because then I don't have to correct myself for making my steps too wide or long as often during races, 400s, 800s, or race rehearsal segments.  It feels better when I keep them short in terms of any "weak links" and my attempts to avoid IT Band issues.  It just feels better overall because it helps me get into a rhythm. There are videos on Jeff’s website that are great resources when it comes to incorporating these drills into your training. Thanks to the Orlando Track Shack for allowing us to film this Quick Bite!Orlando Track Shackhttp://trackshack.com Jeff's Websites for training resources, JG 13.1 Race Weekend, and his bloghttp://www.jeffgalloway.com https://jeffgalloway131.com http://jeffgalloway.typepad.com  Jeff's Training calendars for RunDisneyhttps://www.rundisney.com/training/running/ Jeff's YouTube Videoshttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_hsvva_nH70z1RbNSbDIw Let us know what you think!  Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or leave comments on www.runeatdrink.net  to tell us your thoughts about the episode or to let us know about races we should run, restaurants we need to visSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Episode #6: Run Walk Run with Jeff Galloway Part 3

Send us a textWelcome back to another episode of the Run Eat Drink Podcast! On Sunday, August 6th,  America's Coach and Olympian, Jeff Galloway, hosted a 3-hour running school in Orlando, Florida at the Track Shack. This gave me a great opportunity to share with all of you what his method is all about and why it works. It was such a great experience,  and afterward we sampled some tasty food and beverages right around the corner at Santiago's Bodega. In part three, we explore the resources that Jeff has to offer on his website.  Anyone, from someone just getting started to an elite runner, can use his method to improve time or train to cross that finish line for the first time and feel great after the race.  These resources include books, videos, a run-walk-run timer, resources for recovery like the BFF massager, and a variety of support from e-coaching to race retreats, local galloway training groups, and customized training. He also mentions his JG 13.1 Race Weekend and I did not talk about it in the interview, mainly because I was so honored and a bit "starstruck" to be talking to Jeff, but we have run both Barb's 5K and the 13.1 for two years now.  It is one of the best race weekends out there.  There is no pressure because the course time limit is 4 hours and 30 minutes.  It is run-walk-run friendly, of course.  The Atlanta sites are amazing on the courses and the finish, with Jeff there to congratulate you whether you are first or the very last runner, is incredible, too.   We cannot wait to feature that race on this podcast, and he has special guest and Olympic Gold Medalist, Billy Mills, coming to give a motivational and inspirational talk.  It will be a great weekend!   In this episode, we also feature another amazing tapas dish from Santiago's Bodega, Patatas Bravas.  It was tasty, and it was different from the version we had at Patio Tapas and Beer in Boca Raton at the Run, Sweat, and Beers 5K in July.  Both are worth the trip, let me tell you! Special thanks to the Orlando Track Shack, Jeff Galloway, and Santiago's Bodega for allowing us to film this episode.  Here are some resources so you can find out more about his method and the delicious food and beverages we tried. Phidippides - Jeff's Running Store in Atlanta, GAhttp://www.phidippides.com/ Orlando Track Shackhttp://trackshack.com  RunDisneyhttps://www.rundisney.com  Lolo Fit Apps by Jeff Galloway in iTuneshttp://lolofit.com/apps/easy_5k_with_jeff_galloway  http:/Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Send us a textIn Quick Bite #13, we share the Pulled Pork Stuffed Burger we ordered from the Fillaburger Food Truck at the JDub's Not Quite Friday 5K last week. Okay, actually, it was what my husband ordered, but we ordered the Mac and Cheese Stuffed Burger and the Pulled Pork Burger and agreed to share because they both looked amazing and came highly recommended.   The Pulled Pork Stuffed Burger with it's sweet BBQ sauce and crunchy fried onions was so tasty that we could not skip sharing it with you.  it paired perfectly with the Bell Cow (including a shot of coffee) that we did not film, but I had to have it because I enjoyed it so much at Nice Guys and when I saw it there on tap with addition of a shot of coffee, I couldn't say no.  You can check it out in Quick Bite #6.  If you are in the Sarasota area on a Thursday night, you really should drop by JDub's Brewing, run their Not Quite Friday 5K, sample their tasty beer offerings, and order a stuffed burger from the Fillaburger Food Truck.  JDub's Brewing CompanyFillaburger Food Truck Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Episode #4 Run Walk Run with Jeff Galloway (Part 1)

RED Episode #4 Run Walk Run with Jeff Galloway (Part 1)

Send us a textWelcome back to Run Eat Drink Podcast!  In this episode, I want to share the method I use to train for races of all distances.  I discovered his method in January 2011, when I ran my first half marathon at Walt Disney World.  I was an inexperienced runner who found a book online with a running schedule in it, tried to follow it, and headed to the race.  Mistakes were made.  I would describe that experience as painful and a real struggle, although I crossed the finish line with my husband and accomplished the goal.  At the race expo, Jeff was giving a motivational talk about his method.  He talked about taking walk breaks so you can finish strong.  Those walk breaks are short, 30 seconds or less,  and protect you from running out of gas at the end of the race.  It does not matter whether you are trying to qualify for Boston or complete your first race, he said, you can use this method to pass others at the end, finish with a smile, and still have energy to celebrate afterward. When we got home and started to train for our next race, his words were in the back of my mind.  I did some research and found that he had a whole program, and that there was "an app for that" from LoloFit. It gives you a training plan based on your goal, a recommended ratio for running and walking, and during the workouts, it is Jeff's voice telling you when to run, when to walk, and dropping in occasionally with motivation and encouragement to keep going.  I cannot tell you what a difference it made in training, motivation, and performance.  I became one of his e-coach clients, and have been an avid supporter ever since! On Sunday, August 6th,  America's Coach and Olympian, Jeff Galloway, hosted a 3-hour running school in Orlando, Florida at the Track Shack. This gave me a great opportunity to share with all of you what his method is all about and why it works. It was such a great experience,  and afterward we sampled some tasty food and beverages right around the corner at Santiago's Bodega.Jeff took the time to do an interview with us, and he gave us so much great information, so we are breaking up his interview into three separate podcast episodes.  This is the first part of his chat with us,  Jeff talks about the history of the run-walk-run method and how he became "America's Coach."  In part two, we will explore the science behind the method, and in the final part of his interview with us, Jeff shares resources for anyone out there who wants to use his run-walk-run method.Special thanks to the Orlando Track Shack, Jeff Galloway, and Santiago's Bodega for allowing us to film this episode.  Here are some resources so you can find out more about his method and the delicious food and beverages we tried. Phidippides - Jeff's Running Store in Atlanta, GAhttp://www.phidippides.com/Orlando Track ShackSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Podcast Episode 3: Not Quite Friday 5K at JDub's Brewing Company

Send us a textWe had a mid-week trip to JDub's Brewing Company out of Sarasota, Florida in this 6-minute episode.  Every Thursday they host a Not Quite Friday 5K.  Those who complete the run get a punch card and if you complete two punch cards you get a great shirt! It is free to run with the group.  As soon as we arrived, we signed a waiver, we were shown a map of the course, and we were off!  The course goes through a park and past the Baltimore Orioles Ed Smith Spring Training facility. The scenery was nice, and the group was welcoming and fun.  It was a low pressure way to complete a short training run. There are benefits to completing just one of these runs as well…  Runners get a discount on a tasty beer after completing their 5K. We chose to try their Poolside Kölsch, a lighter and refreshing beer, although, my favorite is still the Bell Cow.  A food truck, Fillaburger was also waiting for us after the run and they had awesome stuffed burgers filled with mac and cheese or pulled pork and more!  The environment is so much fun!  You definitely have to check out all the Star Wars art on the walls and the beer garden out back that you'll see in our podcast.I will definitely be back to run on the next Thursday I have off to fill my punch card, try more from Fillaburger, and hang out at this cool brewery.  You should check them out when you are in Sarasota.JDub's Brewing Company:  http://www.jdubsbrewing.comFillaburger: https://www.facebook.com/fillaburgerEd Smith Stadium: http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/bal/spring_training/ballpark/ If you like what you hear, please subscribe in iTunes and give us a rating or review!  Thank you!  Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Send us a textJuly 29, 2017We are back at Patio Tapas and Beer to try another round of their tasty tapas!  Their happy hour is a steal with most dishes coming in at $3.  If you are in Boca Raton, you should definitely give them a try.  In this 3-minute video we sample:Churrasco at $3 on happy hour this is a piece of skirt steak on a toasted baguette with mojo verde, peppery arugula and marble potatoes.Duck Breast also $3 on happy hour (Duck at that price? How could we not!) that is seared and paired with fig marmalade and white truffle oil.Manchego at $3 on the happy hour menu gave me the chance to try quince paste, which I have never had before.  The manchego is aged 12 years and its salty and Spanish flavor compliments the sweetness of the quince paste.In: 5K, Beer, Boca Raton, Craft Beer, Eat, Fitness, Florida, Food, Patio Tapas and Beer, Podcast Tags: Patio Tapas and Beer, Boca Raton, Levis JCC, Beer, Taps, Podcast, Blog, Run, runwalkrun, Run Eat Drink, @runeatdrinkpod, @runeatdrinkpodcast, Florida, tapasSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Send us a textJuly 27, 2017We are back at Patio Tapas and Beer!  We tasted the sangria, and now we dive into their delicious tapas.  In a 2-min video, we talk about the Pork Belly and Piquillo Relleno.  These two are the perfect balance of flavors and they are just two more reasons you should visit Patio Tapas and Beer if you are in Boca Raton, Florida.  I know it is Spanish Tapas, and we did visit the Columbia Restaurant at our last race, but this was not to be missed, and I love tapas when I can't decided what I am in the mood to eat.  There are so many different Spanish influences as far as food in Florida, they are all worth sampling and enjoying!  This did not disappoint.  Try it next time you are in town and you'll see what I mean.Pork Belly - $3 on their happy hour menu!  It is a piece of crispy pork belly on a toasted baguette with picked shallots and aioli.Piquillo Relleno - $3 on their happy hour menu as well!  A stuffed pepper (I say it is a red pepper in the video, but it is a piquillo pepper) with goat cheese and a PX reduction (which tasted like a balsamic reduction). Support the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Episode #2: Run, Sweat, and Beers 5K Benefitting the Levis JCC

Send us a textJuly 22, 2017Featured in this episode as we travel to Boca Raton:Levis JCC Run, Sweat, and Beers 5KPatio Tapas and BeerFunky Buddha BreweryOn Thursday, July 20th, my husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary with filming the latest episode of the podcast.  Right now, my work schedule allows me to scout races and destinations that we can drive to here in the state of Florida so we can spend a couple of days shooting the podcast.  I am just beginning as a podcaster,  but I love it and hope to feature more races and destinations.  I do want to show you all  hidden gems when it comes to races, tasty places to eat, and great beverages you should try if you get the chance.  I hope it is enjoyable and that we are a helpful and fun resource for runners, vacationers, and friends.  We want you to accomplish, explore, and indulge, and we hope to help with that. This brought us to Boca Raton to participate in the Levis JCC Run, Sweat and Beers 5K.  This race was held at a huge park in Boca.  Talk about an undiscovered race! Who knew this organization had three separate races and this was the last in the series.  If you ran all three you got a medal, but that is not the best part.  This race benefits an outstanding organization, the Levis Jewish Community Center, and their summer camps for special needs children as well as many other endeavors they are involved in to support anyone in need in their community.  Check out their website and Facebook page to see how you can support them or if you want to run the 5k they will be hosting in September.  You really should do it!  It was so much fun!We ran the race entirely in this huge park.  At mile 1 there was a water stop.  We passed two, count them two, alligators on the way to the turn around at the half-way point in the race.  That same water stop was available on the way back to the finish.  It was a flat course, and it was runner and walker friendly with no time limit. They texted our finish times right after we completed the race, and we got a nice tech t-shirt as part of the goody bag.   There was a big inflatable archway at the finish, cold water, chicken wings, and cold and delicious beer from Barrel of Monks Brewing, which we will review in a Quick Bite this week.  Once the after party was over and the awards had been given, we went on to Patio Tapas and Beer. It was happy hour and the dishes were small and inexpensive tapas plates.  We review the Patatas Bravas in the episode, but we had so many good things that we will need to review them in Quick Bites all throughout the week.  Our assessment in short:  everyone should go there and try their tasty tapas. Our last stop in Boca Raton was Funky Buddha Brewery.  They have two locations, and wSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Question for My Fellow Runners

Question for My Fellow Runners

Send us a textWhile this is not a "Quick Bite" or a regular episode, I wanted to put a question out to my fellow runners.  When I can't travel to a destination race, I will be sharing my experiences running, but also asking questions of those runners who are much more experienced than I am.  Like I always say, I am a "back of the pack" kind of runner who makes the most of the race entry fee.  I look to more experienced runners to gain information and I will share what has worked for me in addition to filming the full podcast episodes where I feature a great city, destination run, delicious food, and tasty beverages.  I always say we accomplish, explore, and indulge together.  That accomplishment comes from sharing what I know and learning from the great people I connect with online and through social media. In Florida, Run Walk Run, Disneyland, Orlando, Running, Half Marathon Training, Walt Disney World, Galloway Method, Galloway Training, 5K, 10k, California, AnaheimTags Running, 10k, Galloway Training, Disneyland, Wine and Dine, Run Disney, Runeatdrink, 2-Course Challenge, Half Marathon, gallowaymethod, 5K, Yoga, Run walk run, infinitygauntletchallenge, Galloway Method, Walt Disney WorldSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Quick Bite #7: Fresh and Easy Guacamole at Home

RED Quick Bite #7: Fresh and Easy Guacamole at Home

Send us a textJuly 8, 2017Yes!  You can make guacamole at home in no time, and I am proof of that!  The avocados are looking good at farmer’s markets and grocery stores at this time of year, so why not use them in a healthy recipe like guacamole to put on delicious pork tacos, as a dip with a snack of carrots and celery, or as a topping for delicious nachos or a nice piece of skirt steak fresh off the grill.  Here is the recipe from this episode:Ingredients:1 ripe avocado1 tomato (plum or vine-ripened tomatoes are great)1/4 of a medium red onion1 jalapeño (you decide if you want extra heat by leaving the seeds and membranes in or removing them)1/2 of a lime 1/4 cup cilantro1 teaspoon adobo seasoning (not the sauce that comes from the chipotle in adobo sauce, although that might add a smoky twist to the recipe, so if you try it, let me know!)Preparation: Chop all the veggies to relatively the same size and slice the lime.Chop the cilantro.Chop the cilantro. In a large bowl, add the avocado and mash it with a fork to desired consistency.Squeeze the lime into the bowl and stir it into the avocado.Add the chopped veggies to the bowl and stir to combine.Add the adobo of your choice and season to taste.Stir well.Taste.  Finish with an extra squeeze of lime and any extra adobo seasoning you like.ENJOY!Let us know how you like it and what you are eating your guacamole with this summer! Here's a link to the adobo we used in this recipe and the other flavors Goya offers:Goya Adobo SeasoningOur inspiration for this recipe comes from one of our favorite restaurants in town, Mexico Lindo.  If you are ever in our neck of the woods, you should definitely check them out.  Check in on Yelp, too, if you want to try it for free along with the purchase of a tasty meal! RED Quick Bite #6: JDub's Brewing Company Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter on Nitro at Nice Guys Pizza

Send us a textJuly 5, 2017This week I was lucky enough to have a mid-week day off from work so we could go to our favorite pizza joint of all time, Nice Guys Pizza.  I will review their food in a later episode, but tonight, it is all about one of the beers they had on Nitro, JDub's Brewing Company out of Sarasota, Florida.  Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter is smooth, light bodied, and the prominent chocolate flavor makes it the perfect adult chocolate milk.  JDub's Brewing Company Bell Cow Milk Chocolate PorterNice Guys PizzaSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! RED Quick Bite # 5: Yummy Devil Crab Croquette at Columbia Cafe on Tampa Riverwalk

Send us a textAfter any race, it is time to celebrate and refuel.  At the Columbia Cafe, a part of the Columbia Restaurant family which has been a Tampa staple since 1905,  we sample the Devil Crab Croquette.  It is a delicious combination of Cuban breadcrumbs, spices, and crab, deep fried together for the perfect bite.  It was so delicious, it took 2 minutes to review it.  There is so much more we tasted during our outstanding meal from this historic landmark in Tampa.   For more from our Tampa Beer Run and visit to the Columbia, check out the full episode. Links from this Quick Bite:Columbia CafeSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Send us a textIn this quick bite, we take 90-second break from running to sample our final beer at the Tampa Beer Run, all of this benefitting  a great organization called My Hope Chest.   Coppertail Brewing Company's Unholy Trippel and has an ABV of 9.5%, although its light color could fool you.   It would pair very well with the deviled crab croquette we had at the Columbia Restaurant (featured in our next quick bite).  It has notes of apricot and a bitter finish.  Great to sip in the humidity of the Florida summer.  For more from our Tampa Beer Run, check out the full episode. Links from this Quick Bite:My Hope ChestCoppertail Brewing CompanyColombia RestaurantSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Send us a textThis is a quick review of a tasty beverage from our Tampa Beer Run, Funky Buddha's Pineapple Beach.  This blonde ale is great for a hot day and light enough to drink while mowing the lawn or after running a 5K.  Not overly sweet, hops and a subtle flavor of pineapple make this a great choice in the heat of summer.  For more from our Tampa Beer Run, check out the full episode. (As always, if you choose to, please drink responsibly, of course.  My cameraman was my designated driver for this episode.) Links from this Quick Bite:Funky BuddhaSupport the showTHAT’S A WRAP! Run Eat Drink Podcast (RED) Episode 1: The Tampa Beer Run

Send us a textHey, Everyone!  Welcome to our first episode, where we head to Tampa, Florida for the Tampa Beer Run.  Yes, we get to sample beer on the course, but more importantly, this run raises funds for My Hope Chest, which helps women pay for reconstructive surgery after their courageous battles with breast cancer.  After the run, we need to refuel, and what better way than to sample Tampa on a plate at the Columbia Restaurant.  Our final stop on this trip is Cigar City Brewing, where you can spot the rolling of cigars and a long line of tasty beer on tap, and ours is just a sampling of their libations.  For more information, check out the show notes below.MY HOPE CHESTConnect with My Hope Chest at their website and learn about their upcoming 5K Glow Run coming up in April 2018, also in the Tampa area.AL LOPEZ PARKThis is a beautiful park that is flat and an easy run.  There was no time limit or specific pace per mile you needed to adhere to, so this race is great for beginners or run/walkers.TAMPA BEER RUN ON FACEBOOKWe paid a reasonable entry fee of $45 dollars and added a VIP ticket for $12 more to get a couple of extra beers at the after party as well as souvenir Tampa Beer Run glasses and a white cotton t-shirt.COLUMBIA RESTAURANTThis Tampa staple has been around since 1905, and we happened to sample these:Crab CroquetteSpanish Bean Soup1905 SaladCuban SandwichCIGAR CITY BREWINGAt this brewery, there are some amazing beers and here is a list of a few we recommend:Pollona!
