Whether you’re an elite runner aiming for victory or just starting your “Couch to 5K” journey, we’ve got something for you. Let’s dive into the three pillars of our show:Accomplish (Run): Accomplishment is deeply personal. Are you eyeing a race series win, planning your next “run-cation,” or hoping to set a personal record in your next half-marathon? Each week, we feature fantastic destination races from around the country. Discover scenic courses, learn about the charities they support, and get inspired to lace up those running shoes. And when we’re not on the road, we share interviews, training tips, and insights from our own running journey.Explore (Eat): Running and traveling go hand in hand. As we explore new places, we also explore local cuisine. We seek out hidden gems—the eateries that locals rave about. Bold flavors, interesting dishes, and passion for food—that’s what we’re after. After each race, join us as we wander the city streets, discovering post-race refueling spots. Whether it’s a gastropub, a food truck, or a cozy café, we’ve got dining options to satisfy your cravings.Indulge (Drink): When the running is done, it’s time to unwind. We raise our glasses to celebrate our accomplishments. Local breweries, coffee shops, speakeasies, and watering holes—these are our destinations. From craft beers to artisanal cocktails, we explore the beverage scene. Cheers to a well-deserved drink after crossing the finish line!Join us on this journey of accomplishment, exploration, and indulgence. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a curious foodie, there’s a place for you at the Run Eat Drink Podcast.
RED Quick Bite #51: Tiki House in Key West
Send us a textA QUICK BITE FROM OFF DUVAL STREET NEAR CAPTAIN TONY'S IN KEY WESTThis Quick Bite continues our week-long look at trip we took to Key West to run the Southernmost Half Marathon at the beginning of October. This continues our post-race celebration along Duval Street in Key West.We used to watch Tiki Bar TV religiously. We loved all the tiki drinks they would make. We have a set of our own geeky tikis from Think Geek. So this place, Tiki House, was just our speed. We wanted to hang out at this little place and have several tiki beverages, but we only had time to try their signature drink, the Zombie. It was deadly delicious! We will be back and you should stop by, too! Great drinks, great atmosphere, and a great bartender make this a place to have a drink and stay a while.THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! This continues our post-race celebration along Duval Street in Key West.We were walking along Duval and stumbled upon a place called Wicked Lick that makes liquid nitrogen ice cream! It is a cute little place in the heart of Duval that is pirate-themed! Unique flavors combining savory and sweet is their speciality. We got to try a couple and talk to the owners of this brand new establishment. Have you heard of Tarragon Vanilla and Chipotle Almond Chocolate? We got to try both. They also have a great Maple Bacon flavor, too! Something is here for everyone! Check it out the next time you are in Key West.THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! RED Episode #40: Southernmost Half Marathon and DJ's Clam Shack in Key West
Send us a textRUNIn this episode, we feature the Southernmost Half Marathon. We chose this race because our training schedule called for 12.5 miles this weekend and we thought, "Why not run it in Key West?" Who wouldn't want to see the beautiful sunrise on the Southernmost Point of the United States. It was humid and hot, but a beautiful course and friendly people. It was also held on the same course as a full marathon. The time limit was set to 6-hours for both races, so we thought it would be a no-pressure training run. The only thing we forgot to bring was our Night Tech Gear shoe lights because we started so early and we were unfamiliar with the course (next time!). We were thankful to have our Sqoosh to wipe away sweat during the race, and we needed to remember to hydrate and get electrolytes efficiently both before and during the race. It felt like it was still at the height of the heat and humidity of Florida summer. So anyone running this one as a first half marathon will love the longer time limit but should remember to stay hydrated, even when starting while it is still dark outside. EATAs a post-race celebration, we had DJ's Clam Shack on Duval Street in Key West. Clam strips and conch fritters are amazing there! We bragged about it so much that a friend of ours who went to Key West the very next weekend had the lobster roll and said he had died and gone to lobster heaven!DRINKWe had local beer to toast our accomplishment from Islamorada Beer Company while at DJ's Clam Shack. It was Sandbar Sunday and it did not disappoint as a light and easy-drinking beer to toast completing our training run! Yes, we had other beers at Islamorada Beer Company when we stopped there, so we tried one that we did not have as part of our flight in our Quick Bite. It was glorious after run-walk-running 13.1 miles! THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! Here’s hoping for a great second year of the podcast because of all your support! Send us a textA QUICK BITE FROM KEY LARGOThis Quick Bite starts our week-long look at trip we took to Key West to run the Southernmost Half Marathon at the beginning of October. This Quick Bite features a great sandwich and two tasty local beers on tap at Blackwater Siren in Key Largo. A Mahi Ruben and Coconut Onion Rings were on the menu for us as well as Islamorada Beer Company's Citrus Ale and Florida Beer Company's Key West Sunset Ale. This place is great. Send us a textA QUICK BITEThis Quick Bite features a Muffuletta special from the board at Artisan Eatery. That is an amazing sandwich with an olive spread, a great bun, and some fantastic meats and cheeses reviewed by none other than our camera man, Dana! This is small eatery that has been open less than a year, but back in February was ranked as one of the top 25 restaurants in the News Press. It is a little place with a feeling of home in between our main highway (US 41) and the Southwest Florida International Airport. All of the food is so tasty and made from local ingredients. RED Episode # 39: Walk Like MADD 5K, Artisan Eatery, and Grumpy Goat Coffee
Send us a textRUNIn this episode, we run the Walk Like MADD 5K Dash to help support Mothers Against Drunk Driving here in Southwest Florida. The race was very inexpensive and supports a great community organization trying to help get the word out about being safe and never mixing drinking and driving. We ran as part of a team for Dana with the Cape Coral Police Department. It was hot and humid but we had a water stop and plenty of friendly people to walk and run with during the 5K. The course was flat and took us by Gateway Charter Elementary, Middle and High School. My dad was principal at Gateway Charter High, so we enjoyed seeing his old stomping grounds! It was cute medal and best of all, the finish line was crossing home plate at Jet Blue Park, home of Boston Red Sox Spring Training. We talked with Lori Burke from MADD about what this organization does to help support victims and survivors of drunk or drugged driving incidents. In addition, they also provide education to our community about ways to avoid these tragic incidents. We like to have a cold beer to celebrate the completion of a race as much as anyone, but the key, as Lori put it so perfectly, is to have a plan so that drinking and driving don’t mix. We always do and encourage all our viewers to designate a driver, plan on an Uber or Lyft, or eliminate alcohol from any evening out. Preparation is key. If you can, come out next year and run or walk to help support their efforts, we highly recommend this race. EATThen we went to Artisan Eatery for a fantastic brunch. This is small eatery that has been open less than a year, but back in February was ranked as one of the top 25 restaurants in the News Press. It is a little place with a feeling of home in between our main highway (US 41) and the Southwest Florida International Airport. We had the Pastrami Hash from the regular menu and we saw two specials on the board that caught our eyes, the muffuletta and the Key Lime French Toast. They were all amazing! We will return. You should check it out!DRINKAt the race, we got to talk to Brian Abernathy, Master Roaster from Grumpy Goat Coffee. If you follow our social media, you know we love coffee so much we post about it everyday! It was great to find a local roaster offering high quality coffee through their website and to learn about what makes their coffee so good! We should have had smell-o-vision! RED Quick Bite #46 Guy Fieri's Smokehouse in Louisville
Send us a textWelcome to Louisville, Kentucky! We are here to run a race that supports the Navy Seals Foundation and attend the Bourbon and Beyond Festival!RUN We ran the Joggin for Frogmen 5K to benefit the Navy Seals Foundation on Saturday.EATAfter Bourbon and Beyond was canceled, on Sunday, we discovered Guy Fieri's Smokehouse. We had to try the Trashcan Nachos because they combine our love of great nachos with brisket and a bourbon brown sugar BBQ sauce! The presentation alone is worth ordering them, but the taste is "off the hook" as Guy might say!DRINKWe washed those nachos down with one of our favorite beers made in Kentucky, the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from AllTech. Aged in Bourbon Barrels, it has between 7-9% ABV and a caramel goodness and color. Not too sweet and no bitter finish. One of our favorites anywhere we go!Thank you for hanging in there with us, even though plans changed after Bourbon and Beyond was canceled in the interest of safety for everyone. We hope you'll try Guy's amazing restaurant! We wanted to get so much more there! The meatloaf looked incredible and the Pit Ends Chili sounded tasty, too!THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! RED Episode #38: Joggin’ for Frogmen 5K and "Bourbon & Beyond"
Send us a textWelcome to Louisville, Kentucky! We are here to run a race that supports the Navy Seals Foundation and attend the Bourbon and Beyond Festival!RUN In this episode, we run the Joggin for Frogmen 5K to benefit the Navy Seals Foundation on Saturday. It was at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, not too far outside Louisville. The weather was awesome and the course was almost entirely on the high school campus. It was mainly flat and it is an inexpensive race that everyone can run or walk and feel inspired knowing they are supporting a great cause. We talk to the media manager for the event, Steve Watkins, who is also a former Navy Seal, and he tells us about the foundation and what it does for families of Navy Seals as well as Navy Seals themselves.EATWe got to the Bourbon and Beyond Festival on the first day with a plan to research and prepare to film our food segments on the second day of the festival. We saw lots of local eats and we talked to several people at many booths. We were exited. I can tell you Island Noodles were tasty... we wish we had filmed some segments on Saturday.DRINKWe tried many cocktails as part of the Jefferson’s Reserve.VIP Lounge Area. The Jefferson’s Airplane was a great cocktail that was part of our VIP experience. The Old Fashioned they made us was also awesome. We wanted to bring you so many of the offerings from the local distilleries as well. We should have filmed everything we tried that day because....THE WEATHER HAD OTHER PLANS...It started raining like cats and dogs and we took shelter as we watched great musical acts like Keb Mo’ Sheryl Crow, and Lenny Kravitz. At the end of the night, we made our way to get picked up at the Uber / Lyft shared ride location. It was ankle-deep mud because of the rain and it was difficult for many to exit the park. The city declared the park unsafe and canceled day two. We understood. Safety is always the top priority. We also knew we had to change course so we could bring you some of what Louisville has to offer should you come here to run a race or visit for an awesome vacation. We decided to go on a couple of distillery tours and to a couple of restaurants, so we will bring you those in future Quick Bites.Thank you for hanging in there with us, even though plans changed in the interest of safety for everyone. Send us a textWelcome to Louisville, Kentucky! We are here to run a race that supports the Navy Seals Foundation and attend the Bourbon and Beyond Festival!RUN In this Quick Bite, we are just arriving in Louisville. We check into the Seelbach Hilton as we prepare for our Joggin for Frogmen 5K to benefit the Navy Seals Foundation on Saturday. But first, we need to explore our hotel!EATJust inside of the Seelbach Hilton, we found one of the top 50 bars in the world! Right at our hotel, can you believe it? And their food is just one reason why. Can you say Jerk Chicken Tater Tots? We can say that these are on the "must-eat" list at this bar.DRINKWe had to try toe Seelbach cocktail, featuring Old Forester bourbon. Wow. RED Quick Bite #44: Enzo's Hideaway at Disney Springs
Send us a textIt’s a FLASHBACK and preparation for our experience at Bourbon and Beyond later this month! RUN In June, we started the Run Disney Virtual Running Shorts Race Series. This is an Incredibles-themed series of 5ks this summer. Complete one in June, July, and August plus get a bonus medal. While you can do a virtual race anywhere, we heard about the Bourbon Experience at Disney Springs during the months of May and June. We got to sample some great bourbon beverages to help us research ahead of attending Bourbon and Beyond at the end of September! It is coming up soon and we are excited!EATWhile we were there, we discovered that Disney Springs had special pairings at various restaurants during this experience. Enzo's Hideaway, tucked under Maria and Enzo's restaurant, which we really want to try but haven't had the chance to yet. Enzo's Hideaway has a speakeasy feel and some great appetizers, so we gave one a try that made us recall a restaurant in Atlanta we went to when we were dating, so many years ago!DRINK Enzo's Hideaway had a couple of tasty bourbon-based beverages we had to try. One was the Hazelnut Old Fashioned, featuring Knob Creek. My camera man tried one too. It was Enzo's Bourbon Swizzle featuring Bulleit Bourbon. Both were very tasty! The Polite Pig is A BBQ restaurant with an mouth-watering coffee-rubbed brisket sandwich and a side of street corn with chipotle aioli and breadcrumbs. YUM!DRINKThe Polite Pig also had a winner of a drink... pun intended. Their drink included one of my favorites, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, something I had a hard time pronouncing but I will work on it, Pamplemousee grapefruit liqueur, and elderflower tonic. It was not overly sweet but had hints of fruit and vanilla. DRINKSplitsville had a drink called the Trifecta made with 100-proof Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon. It is not your typical Old Fashioned type of beverage. RED Episode #36: Cape 5K and a Fundraiser at No. 3 Craft Brews
Send us a textRUN In June, we started the Run Disney Virtual Running Shorts Race Series. This is an Incredibles-themed series of 5Ks this summer. Complete one in June, July, and August plus get a bonus medal. For the month of August, and the Dash and Jack medal, we ran a local 5K, the Cape 5K. We got a free entry for it because we volunteered at the water stop in a 5K for 3D Racing, a local organization that helps certify courses and time races, earlier this summer. Rachel, the owner of our local running store, The Run Shoppe, and the one who helped us find the right shoes almost 9 years ago when we started running, heads up that organization as well. Can’t beat that, right? The course was flat and shady, which can help us during those long, hot, and humid summer months in Florida. It was also the second half of our long training run. We got up early in the morning and did 3.4 miles in the neighborhood before the race, so we could get our full 6.5 miles from the training schedule for the Wine and Dine 2-Course Challenge. EATWe ate delicious ribs after the race! Normally, we feature a restaurant where you might be able to go and explore some local food. This episode is a bit different because we headed to No. 3 Craft Brews to help support a fundraiser for a local firefighter who lost his life earlier this summer. No. 3 collaborates with local food trucks to bring together great beer and food, so, while this particular food item was not something that is normally here, usually, on a weekend, you can find something great in the world of local food trucks to explore here. We hope these ribs make a repeat appearance because they were meaty, smokey, and cooked perfectly!DRINKNo. 3 Craft Brews collaborated with No. 3 Craft Brews or GoFundMe page set up to help support his family.THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! So, I decided to tag along and do my training runs at Walt Disney World through the various parks (I was lucky enough to get the time off from my day job). I will share one of those runs in an upcoming episode.EATWhile we were there, we discovered that Disney Springs had special pairings at various restaurants and bars for a Brews & BBQ event. How could we say no? We headed to Raglan Road one night to try the Boaring Burger they were featuring as part of the Brews and BBQ event. Can you say party? It was a great atmosphere with live music and dancers plus the food was mouth-watering. You have got to go!DRINKWhile we were there, we tried the beer that Orlando Brewing Company made exclusively for Raglan Road, the Blagger Organic Blonde Lager. It was yummy and low ABV, so it was a tasty pairing with the burger and it would have been a great post-race beer as well. Light and not hoppy, with a little kick at the start and honey on the finish. We could have many of those. But of course, we will always grab a cab, Uber, or Lyft to be safe and responsible after having any adult beverages, of course! It is really easy to meet up with that kind of transportation on the property.THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! Here’s hoping for a great second year of the podcast because of all your support! RED Quick Bite #40: Nevermind's James Beard Burger Contender & National Scotch Day
Send us a textRUNOkay. We "ran" to a couple of our favorite local restaurants to get dinner and drinks. Yes, we will get a training run in this weekend, but first we had to celebrate a great burger and National Scotch Day. We ran into a local American Ninja Warrior competitor that I am a huge fan of Morgan Wright, "the moose" took a photo with us!EATWe went to Nevermind Awesome Bar & Eatery in our hometown of Cape Coral to support owner Shannon Yates in the James Beard Blended Burger Project competition going on now through July 31st. The burger is a blend of a Grilled Angus Burger and Quincy FL Medium Mushrooms Century Beef Waygu Steak Tartar layered with arugula, onions, and Gruyere cheese on a Toasted 10Cent bun. We are still dreaming about it. You should try it if you are anywhere near Nevermind Awesome Bar & Eatery and you should vote for this burger in the James Beard Blended Burger Project here: jamesbeard.org/blendedburgerproject/vote. (At the top of the page, click vote and scroll down past the description of the contest to where you can search entries. Type in Nevemind to get straight to their entry and vote.)DRINKWe were at Nice Guys Pizza to celebrate National Scotch Day, thanks to the recommendation of Murphy, the bartender at Nevermind, who told us that Nice Guys had a great Dalwhinnie 15-year old Scotch that we needed to try. Greg, one of the owners of Nice Guys Pizza, had their amazing bartender Jimmy Salemi put together a great beverage featuring Dalwhinnie 15-year old Scotch, that has no name, but will be featured on an upcoming cocktail menu. RED Episode #33: Freedom 5K and Gather in Cape Coral
Send us a textRUNIt's 4th of July! Happy Independence Day to the United States of America! We ran the Freedom 5K sponsored by the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce in our hometown to celebrate. It was the first time we ever ran this 5K. Be prepared for hills if you run this one! You traverse the Cape Coral Bridge twice and part of an overpass in Fort Myers. But it is a great view and watching the sunrise over the water while running to celebrate July 4th is an amazing way to start the day. Just a pro tip: Try to do packet pickup prior to race day as lines the morning of the race can be a bit long. Parking is also at a premium, so we recommend getting there as early as possible. We tried to get there an hour before the race in order to find parking (about a half mile away from the start) and pick up bibs. EATWe went to a newer restaurant in Cape Coral to have some post-race brunch. Gather is nestled in Tarpon Point at the Westin Resort in Cape Coral. The view of the water as you eat and drink here is beautiful. We had a pancake and corned beef and hash. It was mouthwatering goodness all the way to the last bite! DRINKGather always has local beer on tap. Scotty's Bierwerks is right in Cape Coral. They make a Hefe that is light, not hoppy and not overly carbonated. With a low ABV and subtle flavors of coriander and orange, it was a perfect post-run beer. THAT’S A WRAPThank you for watching! RED Episode #25: The Fast and The Furriest 5K in Fort Myers
Send us a textRUNThe Fast and The Furriest 5K is quite possibly one of the best 5Ks we've run because it benefits the Gulf Coast Humane Society, an organization that supports animals in need. You can run, you can walk, and best of all, your dog can participate in the race. We met some of the best dogs and people. One dog stole our hearts and will be featured on the podcast in the coming weeks! Please support this great organization by running or walking this race, volunteering, or donating.EATThere is a great new place for tacos and burritos in Fort Myers called Chronic Tacos. We went and had an awesome California Burrito. They have awesome breakfast tacos too, which will be featured in a Quick Bite soon. This restaurant shares its space with a great place to have a beer, too.DRINKMarlins Brewhouse features over 40 beers on tap and crowlers! RED Quick Bite #31: Dunk This Doughnut Cocktail at Datz in Tampa
Send us a textRUNLast June, we launched our podcast, and the first run we ever featured was the Tampa Beer Run. Tampa Beer Run is not only special because it was our first, but because it benefits My Hope Chest, which helps those recovering from breast cancer with reconstructive surgery costs. After the run, we got a bite to eat and a cocktail at Datz.EATDatz is a great place to eat in the Tampa area, only blocks from Bayshore Boulevard, a beautiful stretch of sidewalk, maybe even the longest in Florida, where you can look out over the beautiful Tampa Bay and where we ran Gasparilla in February. Datz features classic comfort food with a twist, has a great brunch menu, and some creative cocktails as well as an outstanding beer list.DRINK At Datz we had a great cocktail featuring coffee and a powdered doughnut as a garnish! RED Quick Bite #30: The Farmer at Maple Street Biscuit Company in Jax
Send us a textRUNThe Donna Marathon Weekend got off to a great start. We decided to experience as much of the weekend as possible by completing the Booby Trap Challenge, which is the 10K, 5K, and Half Marathon during the weekend. And who are we kidding, we love the bling! When we first featured The Maple Street Biscuit Company, we had just completed the 10K and the 5K. And we were HUNGRY! So we had a few of the tasty dishes this rustic community-focused restaurant has to offer. EATWe were starving when we finished our last race, and we had heard great things about The Maple Street Biscuit Company. Apple butter is my jam! Pun intended. And The Farmer has tons of it along with tasty chicken, bacon, cheese, and a homemade biscuit to boot. Guy Fieri perfected the hunch, but can I? RED Quick Bite #29: Flashback to The Dusty Boot at Black Sheep in Jax
Send us a textRUNThe Donna Marathon Weekend is what brought us to Jacksonville and led us to some tasty food and beverages. In this Quick Bite, we flashback to some that we tried but did not get the chance to share in the original episode from that amazing weekend in February. EATA place to celebrate our accomplishment? Black Sheep in the historic Five Points District of Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood. They are focused on creating delicious dishes using local ingredients. We took time to talk with Executive Chef Waylon Rivers about what makes this restaurant special. We featured his pasta dish in RED Episode #20 but he also gave us a great recommendation for a celebratory drink. DRINK Black Sheep is home to some eclectic cocktails and Waylon's recommendation was their version of a whiskey sour called the Dusty Boot. I could have had 3 or 4 of those to celebrate completing our races. THAT’S A WRAP!Thanks for watching! Please subscribe and rate us in iTunes. RED Episode #24: Levis JCC Sprint and Sip in Boca Raton
Send us a textRUNLast July, we went to Boca Raton to run the Levis JCC Run, Sweat, and Beers Race. We stumbled upon a great race. It was on a Thursday, and that was the day I had off from work, and it was to support a community organization, so that is why we decided to go. But we discovered a great organization, a well-organized run, and a great brewery at the after party. So we registered for their inaugural Sprint and Sip, which was originally scheduled for September. Hurricane Irma forced it to be postponed until March 2018. It is a great little nighttime race series, all contained within a park, and with beer at the after party. This time, we got great little medals that double as bottle openers! If you are in Boca Raton, check these little races out. EATThe reason I got so fascinated with this restaurant was that their logo looked like a comic book and caught my eye, but the food is so delicious at Kapow Noodle Bar. The mural inside is beautiful and the food is next level. We tried the Singapore Street Noodles. Their curry flavor and pork belly make me wish I could have it all over again as I write these show notes. Mouthwatering goodness! DRINKBarrel of Monks Brewery is nestled in a little industrial park, but the vibe inside is comfortable with great lighting and barrels mounted on walls. Swag that pays tribute to classic 80’s movies and video games is the icing on the cake. The beer is so tasty. We tried the Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Den of Sins. Amazing! Send us a textRUNLast June, we launched our podcast, and the first run we ever featured was the Tampa Beer Run. A link to the first episode is here. Tampa Beer Run is not only special because it was our first, but because it benefits My Hope Chest, which helps those recovering from breast cancer with reconstructive surgery costs. This was a great run in Al Lopez Park and with 4 different beer stops featuring samples from local Florida breweries and one from Georgia. Don't forget about My Hope Chest’s upcoming GloWalk in April, too, which will be a great time running through the historic Tampa RiverWalk at night! EATDatz is a great place to eat in the Tampa area, only blocks from Bayshore Boulevard, a beautiful stretch of sidewalk, maybe even the longest in Florida, where you can look out over the beautiful Tampa Bay and where we ran Gasparilla in February. The PGDC in Tampa, Florida has a variety of distances you can run during the weekend both timed races and races just for fun, and we selected the half marathon as the second part of our Treasured Chest Challenge (running the Donna Half Marathon and the Gasparilla Half Marathon). It was a hot and humid day. I’m not gonna lie to you. I finished the race very slowly and it was HOT and HUMID. I made the mistake of not hydrating enough before the race or during, so I suffered afterward, so much so that I almost had to skip the eating and drinking portion of our podcast. But I rallied back to feature a couple of great places.EATA place to celebrate our accomplishment? Kojak’s House of Ribs. A South Tampa staple since 1978 and a recommendation coming directly from my camera man, who was born and raised there, Kojak’s ribs are a must when in Tampa.DRINKWe headed to Tampa Bay Brewing Company to try a flight of locally brewed beer. For more information and to see if you qualify, go to www.healthiq.com/red or mention the promo code RED when you talk to a Health I.Q. agent at Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic. One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was being able to interview Meb Keflezighi, who is an inspiration to us. He is the only man to win a silver medal in the Olympics (Athens 2004), win NYC Marathon (2009), and win the Boston Marathon (2014). Watching his success was inspiring to us, but even more than that, his humility and the way he lives his life with faith, family, and education as top priorities is a key reason he inspires those around him. He also has a foundation and through it helps support and encourage people with goals in much the same way he was supported by his family, his faith, and the community around him. We interviewed him at the Expo and wanted to bring you that interview in its entirety. The Half and Full Marathons are run at the same time, with a 7-hour time limit on the course for both races. The spectators make this race, cheering us on with hilarious signs, offering beer, mimosas, doughnuts, and more. The fellow runners motivating each other are inspiring. The feeling of this half or full marathon is something everyone must experience. EATA place to celebrate our accomplishment? Black Sheep in the historic Five Points District of Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood. They are focused on creating delicious dishes using local ingredients. We took time to talk with Executive Chef Waylon Rivers about what makes this restaurant special and then we sampled an amazing pasta dish, Spaghetti a'la Chitarra. Winter squash, pecorino, garlic, sage, rosemary, and sunflower seeds make this a mouthwatering must have! DRINKIntuition Ale Works is a great brewery in Jacksonville. We got the inside scoop from Bronson Olympia, a Tap Room Manager there. (They also serve appetizers, small plates, and sandwiches from Black Sheep!) We recommend the Jon Boat Coastal Ale as a lighter brew perfect for a hot day or our personal favorite, the Underdark is an Imperial / Double Stout that is aged in Willet Rye Barrels for a year and only released in February. He and his wife Barbara are such genuine and supportive people who are passionate about running. Their beautiful half marathon and 5K courses support great causes like the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the Piedmont Dog Park as well as the Donna Foundation and Team 413. The half marathon course takes you through some of the best sights you can see in Atlanta. This year, the race was a challenge for me because I rolled my ankle before mile 1 and had to fight to finish. Next year, I will come back stronger and more careful than ever to highlight that beautiful course. It was a race that tested endurance, mental toughness, and dedication. The people on the course, especially the 4:30 pacers and that great group of ladies who finished just ahead of us and stayed to cheer us on, as well as Jeff at the finish, were wonderful to us and we can't thank them enough! Next year will be great! EATThe Wrecking Bar Brewpub is located in a renovated and historic space in Atlanta. The food we had - the corn pups - were incredible! Wrecking Bar cheddarwurst, cornbread battered and fried, then served with curry ketchup & yellow mustard. Melt in your mouth tender meat and the sweetness of the cornbread along with the tart and tang of the dipping sauces... just incredible. DRINKThe Wrecking Bar Brewpub has homemade ginger beer, lime, and bourbon in their Kentucky mule. It was perfect for bourbon lovers or anyone who likes a Moscow mule but is looking for a twist. There is such beautiful scenery and a dog park, which is one of my all-time favorite parts of the race. This one was so special this year because Barb met us and ran across the finish-line with us. It can be a cold one and we saw snow on the ground, but it is a great way to get a change from the scenery here in Florida. EAT The Expo for Jeff Galloway's Race Weekend is held at the Westin Peachtree. At the top of this beautiful hotel is the Sundial Restaurant. 72 floors up to be exact. The elevator ride alone is breathtaking. The food was great as you will see in our episode! DRINK Barbara Galloway partnered with Orpheus Brewing to give us a great party after the race.
