Ep. 217 - Jack Docherty
Jack Docherty is an actor, writer and chat show host probably best known for the comedy show Absolutely that he co-wrote and starred in and it’s spin off sitcom, Mr Don and Mr George which he starred in alongside his Absolutely colleague and friend, Moray Hunter. He played Ben Gary in the advertising sitcom, The Creatives, was in the sci-fi series The Strangerers on Sky and he appeared regularly in BBC3’s Badults. He plays Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson in BBC Scotland’s comedy Scot Squad. In 1997, Jack was part of the launch of Channel 5 becoming Britain's first five nights a week chat show host on The Jack Docherty Show. Jake Canuso is best know for playing the flirtatious Spanish barman, Mateo Castellanos, in every episode of the ITV comedy, Benidorm. Jake is from Switzerland and began his career as a dancer, appearing in videos with and touring the world with Annie Lennox, Elton John, Take That and the Spice Girls. Andy Nyman is an actor and writer. As an actor, Andy has been in many films, including Black Death with Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne, Kick Ass 2, Star Wars The Last Jedi, The Commuter with Liam Neeson, Judy, the Judy Garland film starring Rene Zellweger and Disney’s Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Whitehall and Emily Blunt. On TV he’s been in Unforgotten, Dead Set, Ballot Monkeys, Peaky Blinders, and provides voices for Shaun the Sheep and Sarah and Duck. Andy is co-creator of the long-running horror stage-play Ghost Stories, which was nominated for two Olivier Awards and adapted in to a film in 2017 starring himself, along with Paul Whitehouse and Martin Freeman. He is the co-creator and co-writer of the television shows Derren Brown – Mind Control and Trick of the Mind. Mathew Baynton is best known as the poet ghost Thomas Thorne in the BBC sitcom Ghosts, which he also co-created and co-writes with his “Horrible Histories” group. As an actor he’s best known for playing Simon Raymond in EastEnders, the brother of Martine McCutcheon's character Tiffany. Gail Porter is a Scottish television presenter, model and actress. Best known for presenting such shows as Top of the Pops, Live & Kicking, Children in Need, The Big Breakfast and The Gadget Show. In 2005 Gail developed alopecia totalis, causing her to loose her hair. She decided not to wear a hat or wig in order to raise awareness of the condition and became ambassador for the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs to children with hair loss. Gail’s alopecia was the subject of the BBC ONE Life series documentary Gail Porter Laid Bare in 2006. She is a vice-president of The Children's Trust, a UK charity for children with brain injuries. Ep. 191 - Bobby Crush
Bobby Crush is a pianist, songwriter, actor and television presenter who first came to public attention after winning the ITV talent show, Opportunity Knocks, six times in 1972. Bobby performed three seasons at the London Palladium guest starring with Jack Jones, Vic Damone and Dame Julie Andrews and his other theatrical roles include Liberace in Liberace's Suit, Dr Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Billy Flynn in Chicago. Bobby’s greatest success as a songwriter was writing Keith Harris and Orville's hit "I Wish I Could Fly" which sold a quarter of a million copies. He has made 13 studio albums including his "Double Decker Party Album", which sold 100,000 copies and earned him a double gold disc. His most recent TV appearances have been in the ITV sitcom Benidorm, in which he played the character "Billy Sparkle". Touretteshero is also a project that she co-founded, aimed at increasing awareness of Tourette syndrome, the neurological condition which Jess was diagnosed with in her early twenties. Ep. 177 - Dr Julia Patterson
Dr Julia Patterson is the Founder and Chief Executive of EveryDoctor, a doctor-led campaigning organisation fighting for a better NHS for every doctor and every patient. Julia qualified from UCL Medical School in 2010 and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015. She took a break from her speciality training to set up EveryDoctor, and has now given up her GMC licence to practice, in order to devote herself fully to advocating for NHS staff and patients. She was a co-founder of the Junior Doctors Alliance (a group that spoke out against the imposition of the sexist new junior doctors’ contract in 2016), and most recently founded The Political Mess, one of the UK’s largest online political forums for all U.K. doctors. The Political Mess is an online community visited by an average 12000-15000 doctors every day, and serves as a platform for positive change.
