In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 29th, 2005, shots rang out from the Shaker Farm in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Nikki Vagades received a call from her 15-year-old step sister, begging for help. When Nikki arrived at the farmhouse, she immediately called 911. Detectives arrived to find six people on the property, all dead from gunshot wounds. January 16th, 2009 was just like any other day for Linda Bonner.  She got up, went to work, and likely thought anything more about it.  Her husband, Franklin Bonner, was home, though, as he was retired from his job with the City of Chattanooga.  When Linda returned home from work that evening, she walked into something from a nightmare.  Her home was ransacked and Franklin was lying on the ground bound with duct tape and he was unresponsive.  It took nine years for any arrests to be made in the case and when the Bonner family finally thought they had justice, the conviction was reversed and the case remains open.     Want access to our first 45 episodes? In April of 2016, UT Austin freshman Haruka Weiser left an evening dance practice to head back to her dorm. She called her roommate to let her know she was on the way, but she never made it. When she failed to show up the next morning and missed her early classes, a missing person’s report was filed, and authorities began the search for Haruka along the paths she was known to take between classes. The next day, her body was found on campus, and with help from surveillance footage, a suspect emerged and was arrested within days. Haruka’s death led to increased security on campus and left a lasting impact on the UT Austin Community.   Want access to our first 45 episodes? In August of 2009, Dalia Dippolito got up early one morning and went to the gym, leaving her husband, Mike at home as he was recovering from a surgery.  While at the gym, she got a call from the local Boynton Beach police saying she needed to return home immediately because something terrible had happened.  She was met with police cars everywhere and crime scene tape sectioning everything off.  Dalia was told that someone entered their home and killed Mike as he slept.  But all wasn’t as it seemed, and a tale of murder for hire played out for everyone to watch on an episode of Cops that aired in September of 2011. From the 1980s until his eventual capture in 2007, a notorious serial rapist and murderer was active in the Buffalo, New York area. Police had linked this man to three murders and numerous rapes, often attacking women along bike paths, which led to him being called “The Bike Path Killer or Rapist”. His arrest came after DNA evidence connected him to the crimes, leading to a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole. Michelle O'Connell's death in 2010 is shrouded in mystery to this day. She was found dead from a gunshot wound, and her death was initially ruled a suicide. Over time though, questions arose due to her troubled relationship with her boyfriend, Jeremy Banks, who was also a sheriff's deputy in St. Augustine, Florida. Despite evidence suggesting foul play, the case was closed, leaving her family frustrated and seeking justice. The case gained national attention as it raised concerns about law enforcement bias and the handling of domestic violence cases. On February 19, 2020, Rowan Baxter forced his way into his estranged wife’s car, poured gasoline on Hannah Clarke and their three children, Aaliyah, Laianah, and Trey, and lit them on fire. Just eleven weeks prior, Hannah was brave enough to take her children and leave her abusive relationship and try to move on with her life. Baxter, unable to control Hannah, wanted to make her pay. After taking the lives of his children and wife, Rowan Baxter died by suicide. Singer, song writer, musician, artist, activist, legend… Beatle. John Lennon was all of these and more to many people. He was an inspiration to millions during his life and continues to be for many more after his passing. In the early morning of March 4th, 2022, 33-year-old Kouri Richins called 911 from her home in Kamas, Utah. She said that she’d come back into the bedroom she shared with her 39-year-old husband Eric to find him cold and unresponsive. First responders arrived, but were unable to revive Eric. The father of three was pronounced dead. His autopsy later revealed that he’d ingested about 5 times the lethal amount of Fentanyl. Nobody could believe that Eric had died from a drug overdose. It didn’t take long for investigators to zero in on Eric’s wife, Kouri. Evidence showed that she’d made significantly poor financial decisions, leaving her in a position that may have led her to commit murder. Sandy Maloney was expected in court in February of 1998 for her final hearing in her divorce from husband, John Maloney.  She had spoken with her mother several times the night before and after being concerned for her daughter, Lola promised that she would make the just over two hour drive from Madison, Wisconsin to Green Bay, Wisconsin the next morning to check on her.  When Lola arrived, she found her daughter’s body burned, not only on the sofa, but into it.  After months of investigating, her husband, a local police officer, was accused and convicted of her murder.  However, he has always maintained his innocence and it’s entirely possible that he isn’t responsible for Sandy’s death. On August 8th, 2013, 26-year-old Brandon Lawson left his home in San Angelo, Texas after a huge fight with his fiancé. On December 17, 2011, the father of 20-month-old, Ayla Reynolds, called the police to report his daughter missing. Ayla was in the custody of her father and the night she disappeared, there were three adults in the house, but not one of them will say what happened to her. They say that she was kidnapped and they didn’t know who took her, but the evidence suggests otherwise. As of this recording, it has been almost 12 years to the day Ayla went missing and her mother still has no answers as to what happened to her 1-year-old daughter that night.
