"Pensa che tecniche come Genome Editing e Cisgenesi possano contribuire a ridurre gli effetti del cambiamento climatico? Varietà così ottenute possono essere accettate dai disciplinari?

About the session:
Statistics tell us that in Italy almost one in two women do not have their own bank account, and the female employment rate is lower than in many other European countries. This session aims to give insights and tools to women in wine who want to have access to credit to set up their own business, to finance their business, or simply to invest in the world of wine or in themselves.
About the hosts:
Italian writer, professional journalist and wine educator Laura Donadoni lives in California, where she founded La Com Wine Agency - a communications agency focused on wine promotion that operates throughout the US - and The Italian Wine Girl - a blog and social community with over seventy thousand subscribers. Laura is also the only Italian female member of the prestigious International Circle of Wine Writers in London. She collaborates with several trade publications, has four books published with national and international publishers to her credit - in Italian and English - and hosts several podcast series, including Lady Vino, among the ten most listened-to wine podcasts on Spotify.
Matilde Poggi works as a winemaker in Cavaion Veronese (Verona), in the DOC Bardolino production area. Her first harvest was in 1984. From 2013 to 2022 she served as President of FIVI, Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti. Since 2022 he has been President of CEVI, Confederazione Europea Vignaioli Indipendenti, an organization accredited to the European Commission.
Luisa Ortu is an expert in Innovation and Internationalization. She lives between Florence and France, where she has lived continuously for three years and cultivated her passion for wine. Luisa is co-owner of a small wine property in Saint-Emilion - Chateau Edmus - along with 30 other Wine Angels: an experience if not unique at least rare in the wine world. She has been working for more than 15 years for the European Enterprise Europe Network, co-funded by the European Commission, and helps SMEs and startups from all sectors develop their business in Italy and abroad, and find funding to realize their innovation projects.

They also manage an additional 5 hectares situated in the most prominent Barolo and Barbaresco crus: Roncaglie, in La Morra; Monvigliero, in Verduno; and Canova, in Neive.

Ep. 2107 Cameron Jones and Claudia Stern | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza
Welcome to Episode 2107 of the Italian Wine Podcast, where Professo Scienza takes questions from the international wine community and answers them in his own inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s questions about reincarnation and the olfactory impact of wine come from Cameron Jones and Claudia Stern.
Today’s questions:
If you could be reincarnated as an Italian grape variety, what would it be and why?
Se potesse reincarnarsi in un vitigno italiano, quale sarebbe e perché?
We have learned from the Greeks to rediscover the sense of smell and of course taste. If there is a wine that touches your senses, is that the best? How many times in your life have you tasted a wine and changed your mind and taken a step forward in pure sensations and in your philosophical approach?

Ep. 2106 Massimo Boccoli, Claudio Bergamasco, Giovanni Mantovani | wine2wine Business Forum 2023
Welcome to Episode 2106, where we present a session recording from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. Today’s episode is entitled “New Economic and Financial Tools for Winery Strategic Development” and features Massimo Boccoli, Claudio Bergamasco, Giovanni Mantovani.
Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and is pleased to present this series of market-focus sessions, recorded in Verona in November 2023.
wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide.
About the session:
The wine-producing company sector tends to be characterized by significant investments and high working capital absorption. In this context, efficient management of working capital through financial instruments typical of Supply Chain Finance can be the way to generate cash internally, promoting prospective growth and value creation.
About the hosts:
Giovanni Mantovani joined the Veronafiere staff in 1985, later assuming the position of General Manager from 1998 to 2022. He is among the minds who developed major international events such as Vinitaly, Marmomac, Fieragricola, Progetto Fuoco, LetExpo, Samoter, and Fieracavalli. Since 2014 he has been a board member of UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. In 2014/2015, he was appointed as a member of the Scientific Committee for the Wine Pavilion - Expo Milano 2015 by the Minister of Agriculture. He currently works as a consultant (senior advisor) particularly for the wine & food sector. He is President of the Fondazione della Comunità Veronese.
Claudio Bergamasco graduated in environmental forestry at the Faculty of Agriculture in Padua. In 2011 he was added to a working group active in the field of subsidized financing for agro-industrial and agricultural firms. In 2018, he became one of the managing partners of the consulting firm Studio 3A Srl, providing services of subsidized financing for capital, promotional and research & development investments. In 2020, together with other partners, he founded Gate 39 Srl, operating today in the field of regional, government and European financing focused on the agro-industrial and agricultural industry.
Massimo Boccoli has worked as a consultant for financial intermediaries and structured finance at major Italian banks. He then continued his career in supply chain finance, corporate restructuring, and credit mediation. The transversality of his experiences enabled him to realize the misalignment that exists between the financial needs of manufacturing companies - increasingly sophisticated - and the offerings of the consulting and advisory sector - purely relational and highly segmented. His goal at Hoshin is to realign the financial response to the real needs of companies through innovative product offerings.

Ep. 2105 Michele Longari interviews Cecilia Longo | Clubhouse Ambassadors’ Corner
Welcome to Episode 2105 of the Italian Wine Podcast with Stevie Kim’s Ambassadors’ Corner on Clubhouse. In this episode Michele Longari interviews Cecilia Longo of premium Italian wine merchant Longo 1961. These sessions are recorded on Clubhouse and reproduced here on the Italian Wine Podcast!
The focus of today’s conversation is less on the production and more on the commercial, logistics and marketing side of wine. Sometimes, we tend to forget that once the wine has been bottled, there is still a lot of work to be done by many different players before the wine actually reaches our glass. The interview with Cecilia will hopefully give listeners a clearer understanding of what happens behind the scenes!
Co-Moderator - Michele Longari
Until 10 years ago I was working as a computer engineer in Emilia Romagna. Although my daily job was in a different industry, I already had a deep-rooted passion for good wine and food. In fact, I was spending most of my spare time and holidays traveling around the regions of Italy to learn more about the local cuisine and traditional wines. Since I was becoming more and more passionate about wine, I decided to start the professional sommelier diploma course with the Italian Sommelier Association, with the main idea of learning something more about wine and, at that time, I was not even planning to take the final exams. Then, the more I was involved with wine and the less I wanted to be involved with computers and coding (who can blame me?!), and so I eventually ended up taking the AIS Sommelier Diploma in 2013 then, the very same year, I moved to the UK and started an MSc programme in Wine Business Management at the Royal Agricultural University. While I was finishing my masters dissertation, I accepted a job offer from Hay Wines, a small independent British wine merchants and importers, and now after eight years I am still working for the same company. My official role is purchasing director, and my main responsibilities are purchasing strategy and imports management.

Ep. 2104 Denise Marrone of Agricola Gian Piero Marrone | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon
Welcome to episode 2104 of the Italian Wine Podcast, and episode 158 of Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon. Marc’s guest today is Denise Marrone of Agricola Gian Piero Marrone, a family-run winery that can be found in Annunziata near La Morra, in the middle of the Langhe of Barolo. The winery is awarded the Best Italian Wine (Banco BPM) Trophy for Barolo Docg Bussia 2019 in 5StarWines – the Book wine selection in 2024.
More about today’s guest:
For over a century: four generations of passion, tenacity and hard work.
The origins
Pietro Marrone was born in 1887, to a family that already cultivated grapes for the production of wine. Very passionate and extremely ambitious from an early age. In 1910, at the age of 23, he asked his father Edoardo if he could cultivate some vineyards using techniques that were revolutionary at the time.
The second generation
Carlo was born in 1924 and, along with his brothers Paolo and Michele and their sister Mariuccia, helped his father Pietro to expand the company, both in terms of quantity and quality.
After the Second World War, Carlo resumed his work in the vineyard and in the cellar with even greater passion than before. The wines became better and better and the farmhouse became known in the village as “Cascina Carlot”.
The third generation
Gian Piero was born in 1955. The wine gene had become part of the family’s DNA, passed down from generation to generation, so, when he finished high school, he devoted himself to the production of wines with the same passion as his father. The time was ripe to plant native white grapes in the vineyards: Arneis, Favorita and Moscato, in addition to the red varieties Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, and of course Nebbiolo for Barbaresco and Barolo.
The fourth generation: Sorelle Marrone
Looking ambitiously to the future with a traditional heart Gian Piero’s three daughters, Denise, Serena and Valentina, work alongside Gian Piero to achieve increasingly ambitious goals.

Welcome to Episode 2100 of On The Road Special Edition in which Stevie Kim takes a deep dive into Barbera d'Asti, one of Italy’s most famous wines from the Piedmont region of north-western Italy. Today Stevie sits down with Pico Maccario to talk about the colourful history of the winery, their iconic packaging and much more.

Today’s question:
With regard to climate change and its impact on viticulture, how can we best meet the palates of consumers who are looking for a more contemporary expression of wine, compared to the original? For example: more tannins / structure in Barolo / Brunello ... or perhaps it is better to change style?

Guest Bio - Raffaella Merlini:
Bugno Martino is a family-run winery in San Benedetto Po, a small village in the south of Mantova, the first village under the Po River. Mantova is a small city in the south of Lombardy, in the north of Italy, land of culture, history and gastronomy.
People used to think that Lambrusco was produced only in Emilia Romagna, but we can have Lambrusco also in Lombardy. In 1987, the Lambrusco Mantovano DOC was created, even though Benedictine monks have been producing Lambrusco in this area since the 12th century under the guidance of Matilde di Canossa, a great Countess and a great woman (Raffaella and Giuseppe dedicated their first wine to her).
Fifteen years ago, Raffaella and Giuseppe left their jobs and decided to dedicate themselves to their great passion: wine and vines.
They became organic autochthonous vine growers and they created Bugno Martino winery. No ancient recipes and no family tradition, only a clear idea in their mind.
They wanted to produce a different type of Mantuan Lambrusco, to return to Lambrusco the identity and value it deserves.

Ep. 2093 Giulia Stocchetti interviews Tamara Ohanjanyan | The Next Generation
Welcome to Episode 2093, where host Giulia Stocchetti interviews Tamara Ohanjanyan. In this episode, Tamara shares with us her experience and point of view having been a sommelier since 2015, hosting engaging wine tastings to educate people and make them more confident and comfortable with wine.
More about today’s guest: Tamara Ohanjanyan
A sommelier with passion! Tamara started her journey in the field in 2015. At first it was hard without proper wine experience to read and understand HOW different all the wines are. And yes they do not taste the same at all!
All started when she accidentally came across a job announcement where it said: "We are teaching about wine with the best sommeliers, come and join the course, if you succeed, you'll work with us". To put it in a nutshell, that's all I did. I ordered my first Atlas of wine and my cousin sent me 2 more books.
In that same year I registered for a 2 year joint program between Armenia and Germany (Geisenheim and Armenian Agrarian universities) "Enology and Wine Management". Thanks to the program we had the chance to travel to some European wine regions and see the winemaking process ourselves.
I realized people needed more confidence in their wine selection when I was already working at a professional wine store in Yerevan, Armenia. People would ask me how I helped them to pick the wine they really liked, what criteria I used, how the wine was made, how to pair a wine with a specific dish etc.
I started my first events called "Wine Talks" in 2017 (I still have the pics and I remember how enthusiastic we all were). And now here I am, organizing beautiful wine tastings in Italy, talking about wine history and via trivia games educating people. I love seeing confidence in their eyes every time we finish the event.

Ep. 2092 Barbera D'Asti: Cascina Castlet | On The Road With Stevie Kim
Welcome to Episode 2092 of On The Road Special Edition. Stevie Kim takes a deep dive into the wine region of Piemonte. Today she sits down with Mariuccia Borio at the Cascina Castlet winery to talk about the winery’s long history and her own involvement since she inherited the estate from her father in 1970.
More about today’s winery:
An estate is initially a project. And a project is a dream which gradually takes shape, first of all on paper, then on the land and finally, for us, in our wine. Our project starts from two simple ideas: respect for nature and alignment with technological progress. Simple does not, however, mean easy. There have been times when we’ve really had to push forward and others in which we’ve had to stand with our feet planted firmly on the ground; we’ve had to invest in land, technology and, above all, research. This is how we’ve created Cascina Castlèt. The grapes are grown in 31 hectares of vineyards in Costigliole d’Asti.
We have concentrated on the land, our land, and on the local grape varieties: Barbera, Moscato, Uvalino and Nebbiolo, but also on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, this last variety having been grown in Costigliole since the late 18th century, when Marquis Filippo Asinari of San Marzano planted it for the first time. Cascina Castlèt has belonged to the Borio family for generations. Mariuccia Borio inherited it from her father in 1970.

Ep. 2091 Riccardo Bernasconi | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza
Welcome to Episode 2091, where Prof. Scienza takes questions from the wine community and answers them in his inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s question comes from Riccardo Bernasconi
Today’s question:
Climate change is threatening our industry with a magnitude and speed that we are struggling to understand and to keep pace with. Among many Italian varieties, which could be helpful to counter the change in the last few years? There were talks and experimentations with the so-called PIWI varieties. Could you give us your opinion on them? And, if any, how is the experimentation with these varieties going in Italy and in which regions?
If you want to learn more about the Professor:
The one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” in place of “Vermentino.” Attilio Scienza is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. He has been the lead for many national research projects in the field of physiology, agricultural techniques, and vine genetics. As the author of over 350 publications on vine and viticulture in national and international journals, you can bet he knows his stuff!

Ep. 2090 Sustainability of the screw cap & co. with Walter Massa, Emanuele Sansone, Luca Dal Lago, Guido Stecchi | wine2wine Business Forum 2023
Welcome to Episode 2090, where we present a session recording from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into the sustainability of the screw cap & co. with Walter Massa, Emanuele Sansone, Luca Dal Lago, Guido Stecchi
Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023.
wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide.
About the session:
Viticulture, especially when it is aimed at obtaining quality wines, is now among the agricultural practices with the least impact on the environment. Even the process of obtaining the processed product - i.e., wine - currently poses a relative threat to eco-sustainability. From packaging to waste disposal, particularly plastic, the wine world proves virtuous. However, no human intervention is completely neutral on nature. Winemakers and wine producers in general must therefore also do their part to improve the situation.
This session offered by the 5T Academy will outline some initiatives that producers can embrace in order to contribute to a more sustainable wine industry. Innovations in glass processing, for example, today make it possible to produce lighter bottles with the same strength as those made of heavy glass.
Moreover, a more sustainable environmental impact can also be achieved by abandoning the cork - which is a physically perfect closure, but biologically and chemically uncertain - in favor of the aluminum screw cap. The latter gives the same quality prerogatives, ensuring the preservation of the wine and facilitating the opening and re-closing of the bottle.

Guest Bio - Bianca Ferrini
A dream, a mission, a challenge: in 2002, after years of research, agronomist and winemaker Carlo Ferrini finally identified a promise-filled plot of vines in the noble earth of Brunello di Montalcino.
Today, on the street between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo monastery complex, Ferrini
cultivates six hectares of vineyard, divided into three parcels.
The first (at 300 m a.s.l.) is shallow and gravel-rich, while the other two (at 400 m a.s.l.) are deeper, with clay soils.
The clones he selected are all low-vigour Sangiovese biotypes that produce loose clusters and very tiny berries. The first bottled wine was of the 2009 vintage.
Giodo, the name being a tribute to Carlo’s parents Giovanna and Donatello.
The second project of Ferrini family, was in Sicily. In particular Carl falled in love with Mount Etna and its main grapes, Nerello Mascalese and Carricante. Thus began the history of Alberelli di Giodo, with its first vintage in 2016.
It is the fruit of eight small handkerchiefs of land, lying at elevations of 700-950 metres,
that together make up little more than one hectare. Co-existing with olive and fruit trees,
these precious, pre-phylloxera vines have survived for 80-100 years, all trained to the
ancient alberello, or low bush-trained, system.
All of this is a passion shared with his daughter Bianca, who has worked alongside Ferrini right
from the very beginning of rooting his dream in the earth.

Ep. 2083 Luca Ferraris, Ferraris Agricola | On The Road With Stevie Kim
Welcome to Episode 2083 of On The Road Special Edition. In this episode, Stevie Kim visits Ferraris Agricola vineyard to discover Barbera D'Asti with Luca Ferraris, of Ferraris Agricola
Discover the history of the ancient estate where the winery is located, the development of this extraordinary family winery, and the winemaking techniques involved in producing its famous wines
More about today’s winery:
The history of the Ferraris Agricola winery began when great-grandfather Luigi emigrated to America and found gold during the "Golden rush" in California. Thanks to his income, great-grandmother Teresa, who had remained in Italy, had the opportunity to make his dreams come true. In 1921 she bought the house, in Castagnole Monferrato, in Via al Castello, home of the first Ferraris winery. Two years later, grandfather Martino bought the "Casot", a rural farmhouse in the middle of a 40,000 square meter plot where today one of the most representative vineyards of the company stands. However, the production of wine remained a passion and never a job. Thus, for decades, the grapes were given to the town's Social Cooperative.

Ep. 2082 Wim Sas | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza
Welcome to Episode 2082, where Prof. Scienza takes questions from the wine community and answers them in his own inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s question comes from Wim Sas.
Today’s question:
There is some confusion about the pedigree of Sangiovese. Some believe Sangiovese is the father of Ciliegiolo, while other research shows Ciliegiolo (known as the grape producing the wine nero dolce) is the father of Sangiovese. Can you please give us your thoughts about this apparent paradox in the pedigrees?
The leading scientists mentioned by Professor Scienza in this episode are Claudio D'Onofrio from the Università di Pisa and Manna Crespan from CREA (Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l’analisi dell’economia agraria)

Ep. 2081 A perfectly matched e-commerce blend for your digital success with Giorgia Santinami, Paolo Picazio | wine2wine Business Forum 2023
Welcome to Episode 2081, where we present a session recording from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into "A perfectly matched e-commerce blend for your digital success"
Having a strong online presence is a key aspect of a brand’s growth today. The digital space is the most frequent, fast and accessible point of contact for consumers who, in 90% of cases, prefer omnichannel solutions. Therefore, the online retail site is currently considered a commodity in several sectors: from Fashion to Lifestyle and Food & Wine.
It is necessary to build one’s digital store by creating a functional and smooth online customer experience, focusing on visual communication and guiding the user through the purchase path, elevating the brand’s digital positioning and strategy. Brands need to integrate retail and e-commerce initiatives that give them broad visibility in every target market, scaling search results, offering more opportunities for conversion, and gaining clear insight into the analytical assets of its users. We need to get a strategic direction for the customer experience and, most importantly, conducive to international brand expansion.

Ep. 2079 Deborah Brenner | Voices with Cynthia Chaplin
Welcome to Episode 2079, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews social entrepreneur Deborah Brenner in this installment of Voices on the Italian Wine Podcast. Deborah Brenner founded Women of the Vine and Spirits and she continues her epic work in the industry with a new initiative to stop harassment in the wine sector.
More about today’s guest:
Deborah Brenner
Founder & CEO, Women of the Vine & Spirits®
President, Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. 501c3
Founder, Diverse Powered Brands™
As a social entrepreneur, Deborah Brenner measures success on the positive impact a business makes on society. She has manifested her vision with Women of the Vine & Spirits®, the all-encompassing global membership organization dedicated to boldly pushing the wine, beer and spirits industry toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive era that supports business development and innovation, empowering all to thrive.
And more recently, with an emphasis on creating greater equity for diverse suppliers who are part of historically marginalized and disadvantaged communities, Deborah launched Diverse Powered Brands™ in 2023. Diverse Powered Brands is the premier centralized B2B digital global catalog connecting diverse-owned, diverse-led and diverse-made brands to buyers, wholesalers investors, and supplier diversity managers across the entire beverage alcohol and hospitality industry
Prior to entering the wine industry, Deborah spent 20 years in the male-dominated television and film technology industry. It wasn’t until a fortuitous trip to Napa and Sonoma, that Deborah discovered another male-dominated industry, one where women were under-recognized. Compelled to tell their stories, she authored a bestselling collection of profiles on women, Women of the Vine: Inside the World of Women Who Make, Taste and Enjoy Wine, which Wine Spectator named a Critical Read.
Through the process of writing the book and championing these extraordinary women, Deborah became inspired to enter the wine business herself, releasing wine from a first-of-its-kind collective of seven artisan women winemakers. For seven years, Deborah learned the business inside and out. Ultimately, however, the wine brand didn’t foster women the way she had hoped, which led her to shut down the brand and return to the drawing board.
In March 2015, Deborah organized the Inaugural Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium, bringing women and male allies together to focus on actions the alcohol beverage industry could make to change the status quo. It was a sold-out success. Membership to Women of the Vine & Spirits opened September 2015. What started off as a one-off event and a grass roots movement quickly expanded into a global organization with corporate and individual members connected across the globe.

Ep. 2072 Yvonne Zohar part 2 of 2 | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza
Welcome to Episode 2072, where Prof. Scienza takes questions from the wine community and answers them in his inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s question comes from Yvonne Zohar part 2 of 2
Today’s question:
Grapes such as Greco, Grecanico, Grecchetto and Aglianico were assumed to be of Greek origin. Greek dna research indicates that this is not the case. Is there any Italian grape that has a direct DNA relation (parent, sibling, offspring) with a Greek grape variety?
If you want to learn more about the Professor:
The one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” in place of “Vermentino.” Attilio Scienza is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. He has been the lead for many national research projects in the field of physiology, agricultural techniques, and vine genetics. Ep. 2071 Ganbei! A closer look at the wine consumption patterns | wine2wine Business Forum 2023
Welcome to Episode 2071, where we present the session recordings from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into- Ganbei! A closer look at the wine consumption patterns among women in Asia with Alice Wong, Xiaowen Du
Do Asian Women move the needle? All eyes have laid on the lucrative market in the East, but how many have grasped the peculiar consumption behavior of that 48% of the population? From teetotalers to tag-alongs and ladies’ night partygoers, women in Asia have been given all sorts of labels when it comes to their drinking patterns. Times have changed, but the social categorization of Asian female drinkers has not caught up. The extent of lost opportunities as a result of stereotyping is hard to calculate. Since the turn of the millennium, we have seen tremendous advancement in women’s education level. Along with the rise in their disposable income emerge the desire to improve their quality of life. Fine dining and wine appreciation have become the norm for many female professionals. Not only are they now sole decision-makers for wine purchase and consumption, but often times women have different preferences compared to men’s. With regard to Asian women’s spending power and distinctive taste, many industries have already taken a head start and established female-focused marketing strategies. Yet when it comes to wine and its related products, the outlook on the Asian female market has been relatively conservative. Clearly, the pie is big enough to share, but how can wine businesses approach this sector and not miss the boat? This session uncovers the lesser-known facts about women in Asia, pinpoints the boundless potential of this untapped market, highlights their preferences in wine, and identifies channels to successfully reach out to this unique demographic

Guest Bio - Federico Stroppolatini
Federico Stroppolatini, together with his sister Marianna, runs their small family-owned vineyard and Bad and Breakfast in the heart of the Friuli Colli Orientali DOP area, near the UNESCO heritage town Cividale, in the north-east of Italy.
The farm was born in the second half of the 1800s and still today it preserve the original vineyard of Friulano planted by their ancestors around 120 years ago.
Federico takes care of the production, running the 6 hectares of vineyard (all situated on the traditional tarraces on the slope of the two hills of the estate) with particular care for autochthonous varieties, low environmental impact with organic farming, biodiversity and vine longevity. He follows similar philosophy in the cellar, limiting interventions on musts and wines, avoiding industrial yeasts, clarifications and stabilizations, preferring longer agings both for whites and red wines, aiming to bring territoriality, complexity and elegance in the glass.
