The podcast for the multifaceted, multi passionate human who’s ready to break out of the boxes that society tries to put them in and fully embrace their authentic self!
How to create more time in your day
A common thing I hear, and you probably resonate with is: "I'll get to that when I have the time" or "I wish I had the time for X" or "This would be perfect for me, and when I have more time, I'll definitely sign up"...No, you won't. And how do I know that? Because life will continue to happen, and things will continue to demand our time. Remember when COVID hit and so many people suddenly had lots of extra time and yet those things they said they'd "get around to when there was more time" still didn't happen? It's because it had more to do with mindset and management than actual time.
Now, this isn't always the case, so I address both how to actually give yourself your time back AND how to change your perspective and utilize tools that will create more time for you.

38 (ish) - how we are only limited by our own fears...
38 (ish) - how to get over your fears...

Protect your peace and let them misunderstand you
VERY unscripted and unedited podcast for you today! I’m currently in Idaho and didn’t really bring any of my stuff to edit a podcast of. This was completely done on voice notes, and then just uploaded. *cue nerves and old perfectionist wounds* lol.
So first off, let this be your permission to do things imperfect.
Second, today’s episode came about from having someone from my past (years ago) suddenly show up and try to blast hate on my Instagram page by bringing up things from my past…
We’ve all done things we’re not proud of right? Like, let’s be real. Everyone has some toxic traits, and likely even a version of them at some point in their lifetime where they are the toxic person in some way shape or form. Maybe not in the traditional sense, but I will fully admit that that version of me had shitty communication when it came to owning up to mistakes when they happened (often because I wanted to be liked and so just hoped it would go away, but it was often things that had a calendar date that would come eventually, so it would snowball and blow up. Some people allowed me to open up and finally communicate and then learn/grow/change, and others, like this person, didn’t.
anyways, while if anyone wants to know, the full story, and all the drama (I’m certainly not going to try to hide my past), I also don’t think it’s necessarily relevant to drag up all of that in the podcast.
What is important is to talk about the lessons that I’ve learned, including the big one that is the focus for today:
Let people misunderstand you. Let them leave. Let it be.
Protect your peace.
As always, I’m open in my DMs if you want to chat about any reflections, experiences, or really anything! I love meeting people and hearing their stories: the good, the bad, and the ugly!

All judgement is (1) self judgement & (2) expectations
All judgement is actually self judgemetn in disguise, and that's something I dive into on today's episode. This came up after the realization that I probably got some judgement for a recent IG post of mine, based on the number of unfollows I had (while also gettign incredible positive engagement!). Typically we fear this, right? Judgement, not being liked, etc...but also...one of the most freeing things is when we can get to a point when we don't care and we actually see it as a good thing. Not only because it means we will be more surrounded by only people who are meant for us, but also...judgement is often an opportunity. Listen in to hear more! And if you're wondering how this fits the overarching topic of the podcast...judgements and expectations are closely linked because our (and others) expectations shape our (and their) judgment and vice versa. If this episode hit, please share on social and tag me, and if you REALLY loved it, leave a review!! Advocating for yourself and THRIVING, not just surviving - with Brynna Coury
Today. I am joined by my dear friend, Bryn Valor. Y'all, this is not only one of my favorite humans, but just a force and light that you need in your life! We talk about everything from how the medical system wanted to dismiss her, to advocating for herself throughout diagnosis and treatment for cancer, all the things that aren't talked about enough like:
- mental health and sexual health throughout treatment
- how well intentioned friends and family can actually make you fel more isolated
- aspects of grief that no one thinks or talks about
- not just surviving but thriving and getting back to feeling like a "self"
- documenting the entire process and being a light for so many others
- how being the black sheep of the family is a blessing
- how her music has (and will continue) to give back
- how to better support a loved one going through a hard time
- and so much more...
This was SUCH a fun conversation that I simply couldn't bring myself to wrap it up in the original timeline I'd planned. Well worth listening to every minute of this one.

In this epsiode, I dive into how, while I know I'm on the right path, I'm also in a very uncomfortable, unknown place and feeling a LOT lately...and the magic in leaning into that, being vulnerable, finding your support system (and actually asking them for help - allowing yourself to receive), and staying focused on your WHY.

"Just because it's not your fault, does not mean it's not your responsibility"
Links from show: course: movonethedaley.com/course-info-page sound healing: www.samanthaharper.com Episode notes: Karamo from Queer Eye inspired today's episode with this quote during a conversation he had on the show in the new season (it's not just a makeover show, y'all. So many mic drops in each episode!) Plus, I figured Pride Month was a good time to showcase that show/him and also drop a little bit of info that until now, only super close people (and those who happen to have naturally brought it up) know...not that I've been hiding it, but just like you don't introduce yourself like "Hi, I'm Christy, and I'm straight!"...that would be super weird, right? Same goes for any other identifier. Which can admittedly make it hard to feel like there's a "right time" to announce how you identify. I breifly talk about how no matter how you identify, it does NOT need quantifiers on it. You do not need to explain yourself to others or to yourself. There is no standard of "enough" of any sexuality in order to be "allowed" to identify that way. Queer simply means not 100% straight. It is a spectrum and it's not nearly as black & white as we're made to think. There are lots of things in between "straight" and "gay" and all (including those 2) are beautiful and perfect. My DMs are open @ instagram.com/moveonthedaley Much love everyone.

Your Values and Your Environment Cannot Conflict
In this episode, I dive into something that I think is incredibly important and simply not talked about enough: How your values and those of your employer or the leader in any enviroment you are regularly in need to match up in some way, or it WILL NOT work out long term. If there is a conflict, you are basically asking for frustration and burnout.
Even inluded an exercise for you to find your top values (harder than you'd think to really get clear and narrow this down!)
Plus...a major life update AND an announcement!!

What you perceive as a weakness is actually your strength.
Listen as we dive into how things about ourselves that we think are our weakness are actually our super power!

BONUS: No one escapes childhood without trauma
Trigger warning: I do bring up sexual assault from my infancy in this episode. And I VERY briefly touch on losing touch on losing my dad (another episode to come for that story)
And even tough I touch on this in the beginning, I want. To be VERY clear that I strongly believe NO ONE escapes childhood without some kind of trauma - it can be big T (assault, sudden loss, traumatic accident like a plane crash) or little T (emotional neglect/abuse, death of a pet, bullying, etc) or even just stories that we create in our heads about ourselves due to experiences, often from family or society.
I think in particular, the stories are the hardest to recognize until we’re older and can be blind spots for a LONG time until we finally see them ourselves, often after we start doing “the inner work” and/or hearing other’s stories and having a light bulb go off in their head. You know the person that you think is amazing, but you can tell they don’t feel that way about themselves and they have certain patterns & ways of thinking that, no matter what you say, don’t change and aren’t recognized? That’s their blind spot. We all have them. And they often come from the stories we tell about ourselves in our heads. “I’m not enough,” “I’m not worthy of love,” “I wont be accepted if I’m [insert thing here],” etc. One thing is for sure: others will see them FAR before we are willing to see and admit them.
These blind spots/stories can turn into self-sabotaging behaviors like pushing people away, holding people to unrealistic standards so you can “be right” about not being accepted, or something as “silly” as not really accepting compliments, cutting reps in a workout, and general defiance towards others so that you can “be right” in your story that you’re “not a good person.” (Ok, that last example might be some ways mine used to show up! And they are the behaviors that now tip me off that there’s something internal I need to address.)
I talk a lot in this episode about my mother. I want to make this very clear: She is hands down the strongest, smartest, hardest working person I know. And she has SUCH a big heart that, honestly, most people don’t really get to see because she keeps it so guarded (a blind spot of hers). She was a WONDERFUL mother and loved myself and my little brother. Everything she did was well intentioned.
But like I said, no one escapes childhood without stories. And while as an adult I can recognize that societal conditioning and generational trauma is behind a lot of my stories, as a kid, you don’t recognize that stuff. I just knew that I wanted to be loved and accepted by my mother and feel safe - and I didn’t feel like I had that due to (1) traumatic events (2) my parents not speaking or recognizing my love language (3) zero emotional support (again, well intentioned but still added to everything) and (4) certain things that I think everyone, particularly females, in my generation grew up hearing from our parents that we now recognize was societal pressure: “Don’t be too loud” “Be perfect in order to be accepted” “Be proper and polite” etc…
I know if my mom listens to this episode, I’m gonna get another phone call…I got one when I announced Human On The Daley saying “You better not talk about me on this podcast” and ironically enough, as soon as I heard her say this, I knew I needed to create this episode. I love her SO much and NOW we say “I love you” to each other (I had that uncomfortable convo with her after Dad died, and she’s said it regularly since and I’m so grateful)…but in that moment I felt the instinct that there are people out there that need to hear my stories in order to start to uncover their blind spots and stories - and only then can you really start doing “the work”
Much love y’all.
Megan

BONUS! How I got here (My story pt 1)
NGL, After recording this, I almost scraped it because “who just wants to hear about me and not something informative/insightful” but then I was reminded by my friend Deanna that there is power is storytelling and that simply by being vulnerable and sharing parts of me, others are given permission to do the same. And if I’m honest with myself, I really love listening to other people’s stories sooo yea, here’s a bit of mine!
