S3E2 Why women have to work twice as hard
"When we constantly feel the need to demonstrate our competence, it can create this cycle of overachievement and overworking. The pressure to continually prove we’re good enough can lead to stress, burnout, and even physical health issues over time." ~ Rochelle Marie
In this week's episode, you will learn:
The Personal Impact of 'Prove-It-Again' Bias: The constant need to demonstrate competence can create a harmful cycle of overworking and overachievement. This pressure can lead to stress, burnout, and physical health issues, adversely affecting self-worth, confidence, and overall job satisfaction.
How 'Prove-It-Again' Bias Stifles Professional Growth: On the professional front, this bias impedes innovation and productivity, forcing women to conform to traditional work practices instead of championing fresh ideas. It also acts as a barrier to career progression, causing capable women to be overlooked for leadership roles due to the unconscious bias that scrutinises their abilities more than those of their male counterparts.
Organisational Responsibility in Tackling Bias: Organisations must recognise and address biases within their culture. Providing training to understand these biases, establishing clear performance criteria, and fostering supportive environments are just a few of the steps they can take. These measures promote fairness, but also enhance health, job satisfaction, innovation, and ultimately, organisational success.
Using the Her Leadership Way Manifesto to Navigate Bias: The three guiding principles of the Her Leadership Way Manifesto offer a roadmap for dealing with the 'Prove-It-Again' bias. By asking powerful questions, taking 100% responsibility, and giving grace to ourselves and others, we can expose and address this bias. Each principle and its corresponding mindset shift empowers women to tackle the bias head-on, bringing us closer to a more equitable workplace.
Listen to this episode to gain a deeper understanding of the 'Prove-It-Again' bias and to learn how you, as a leader, can navigate this challenge. Together, we can pave the way to a future where this bias is a distant memory.

S2E23 Harnessing Healthy Ambition: Redefining Success
"Embrace your ambition, not as a validation of your worth or a quest for significance, but as a reflection of your passion, your potential, and your commitment to making a positive impact." - Rochelle
In this episode, Rochelle, your host, takes us on a deep dive into the world of ambition. Unpacking the complexities and intricacies that come with being an ambitious woman in today's society, she offers invaluable insights on how to harness our ambition in a positive, balanced, and healthy way. From acknowledging the double-edged sword of ambition to dismantling the 'not good enough' syndrome, this episode is a must-listen for any woman navigating her career with determination and drive.
In this week's episode, you will learn:
1. The Double-Edged Sword of Ambition
Ambition, when harnessed properly, can lead to remarkable success and satisfaction. However, when it tips into obsession, it can lead to overwork, dissatisfaction, and burnout. Rochelle discusses the difference between healthy ambition and destructive obsession, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the signs of an unhealthy pursuit of success.
2. The 'Not Good Enough' Syndrome
Rochelle delves into the deep-seated feeling of 'not being good enough' that often drives us into unhealthy obsession. This feeling is often exacerbated by societal pressures and expectations, particularly for women, leading to an insatiable need to prove our worth. Rochelle stresses the importance of shifting from self-criticism to self-love as a vital part of maintaining healthy ambition.
3. The Power of Self-Awareness and Balance
This episode underscores the significance of self-awareness and balance. Rochelle highlights the importance of recognizing our inherent value, independent of our achievements, as well as taking control of our ambition so it serves us instead of consuming us. She provides insights on how to achieve a balanced state of ambition, one that propels us forward without compromising our overall well-being.
4. Redefining Ambitious Women
In this thought-provoking discussion, Rochelle challenges societal stereotypes of ambitious women and champions a new definition: ambitious women as compassionate, balanced, and well-rounded individuals. She encourages us to view ambition as a reflection of our passion, potential, and commitment to make a positive impact, rather than a validation of our worth or a quest for significance.

S2E22 Redefining leadership: The inside-out transformation
"Leadership is not about 'doing' but 'being'. It's a deeply personal and profound transformation that demands a genuine alignment of all aspects of your being to the leader you aspire to be." - Rochelle Marie
In this episode of 'Her Leadership Coach,' we look at a journey of self-discovery using the Neurological Levels model developed by Robert Dilts. Here are the key themes we explore:
The Neurological Levels Model: Rochelle introduces us to the Neurological Levels Model and how each level - environment, behaviours, capabilities, beliefs and values, identity, and spirituality - plays a significant role in our leadership journey. We dive deep into understanding how this model provides a comprehensive guide to self-transformation towards becoming an impactful leader.
Leading from the Inside Out : Rochelle emphasizes the importance of defining our leadership identity, reminding us that leadership is not about 'doing' but 'being'. She urges us to start from the top (identity) and work our way down through our beliefs, capabilities, and behaviours, influencing every aspect of our lives in a more authentic and aligned manner.
The Journey to Embodying Leadership Identity: Rochelle discusses how transitioning into a new leadership identity is not about merely stating "I am a leader." It involves deep self-reflection, continual commitment, and consistent action. We learn how to navigate this journey through introspective questioning and consciously aligning our beliefs, capabilities, and behaviours to our chosen leadership identity.
The Accelerate Your Leadership Academy: Rochelle introduces us to the Accelerate Your Leadership Academy, a resource designed to guide and support leaders in their personal and professional development. This isn't just another leadership program; it's a community that assists in the process of becoming your authentic leadership self.

S2E21 Is leadership training keeping up with the times?
"Lasting change and genuine leadership growth isn't just about improving what's on the surface. It's about aligning every rung on that ladder - your environment, behavior, capabilities, beliefs and values, identity, and even purpose."
In this weeks episode you will learn:
1. The Limitations of Traditional Leadership Training While traditional leadership training courses offer valuable insights and frameworks, their effectiveness is often hindered by several factors. These include a lack of consistent and sustained application, often resulting from intensive one-off sessions that don't allow for sufficient practice or feedback. Furthermore, these trainings tend to be more theoretical than applied, leaving a gap when it comes to real-world application.
2. The Missing Piece: Neurological Levels Model Leadership trainings often focus on enhancing skills and behaviors but overlook the profound influence of personal beliefs, values, and identity. According to Robert Dilts' Neurological Levels model, lasting change requires an alignment of these deeper layers with newly learned behaviors and capabilities. If there's a mismatch, the desired change might not stick.
3. Innovative Approaches to Leadership Development There are various strategies that can address the shortcomings of traditional leadership training, such as forming accountability groups for continuous learning, initiating coaching circles for practical application, and the concept of 'working out loud' or 'leading out loud'. This method encourages leaders to make their leadership process visible and transparent, allowing for real-time feedback and providing a practical leadership model for others.
4. Accelerate Your Leadership Academy The academy bridges the gaps identified in traditional leadership training, by combining the best elements of such training with a holistic, transformational approach. It encourages an exploration of personal values, beliefs, and identity, aiming to align these with the desired leadership persona. The academy is designed to promote sustainable growth and development through experiential learning and peer feedback, transforming you into a leadership role model.

S2E3 Leading from the Inside Out: From Know-It-All to Learn-It-All
"It's about knowing you are an expert and allowing space for new information. It's not about agreeing with everyone and constantly saying you're wrong. It's about letting go of that tight grip we have on our beliefs and having the strength and the courage to shift those beliefs when we get new information."
One of the 9 mindset shifts for becoming a leader from the inside out is from a know-it-all to a learn-it-all. This shift involves seeking out new perspectives, leaving room for more knowledge, actively listening, and being open to new ideas. Fear of judgment and disconnection can prevent us from making this shift, but with courage and strength, it's possible to be both an expert and a learner.
In this episode, you will learn the following:1. How to know if you might have a know-it-all mindset.2. How can we move from a know-it-all to a learn-it-all mindset?3. S2E1 Upgrading your internal operating system with Dr Ryan Gottfredson
"Leadership is not something we do, it's something we are. We need to connect to our being and focus on our being maybe even more than we do our doings." - Dr. Ryan Gottfredson
Dr. Ryan Gottfredson is a leadership professor at Cal State Fullerton and has written two books - Success Mindsets and the recently released Elevated Leader. He works with organizations to help them develop their leaders, and focuses on the idea that leadership is not something we do, but something we are.
On this weeks episode he explains the three stages of adult development, which are dependent thinking, independent thinking, and interdependent thinking.
The third level, interdependent thinking, is where adults become focused on contributing to something bigger than themselves and creating value for stakeholders. Leaders at this level focus on purpose, values, and culture, as these are investments that pay dividends in the long run.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. The three stages of adult development
2. The difference between upgrading your internal operating system or simply adding another 'app'
3. The differences between Mind 2.0 and Mind 3.0 leaders and how they measure success.

S1E16 How to be a leader: The role of courage
"I use that to guide me quite a lot because I know courage is where my growth happens."
I'm a big advocate for courage. In fact, one of my mantras is courage over comfort. And I use that to guide me quite a lot because I know courage is where my growth happens.
So what is courage? The Cambridge Dictionary defines it as the ability to control your fear in a dangerous or difficult situation.
One of the things I hear again and again from my clients when they first start with me is the thing holding them back from a leadership role is because they don't have enough confidence. And what I've learned is that the real thing that's missing is how to be courageous.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. What is courage? The Cambridge Dictionary defines it as the ability to control your fear in a dangerous or difficult situation. How does that show up at work?
2. What is the opposite of courage? The opposite of courage is the idea of running away from fear. It's not doing anything that might even result in fear.
3. How can we get courage? I share two ways I use to get the courage to do things even when I'm feeling fear.

[00:18:08] - Another tool I use to find my courage is curiosity. When I'm procrastinating and I start to feel something, I get curious and start thinking about it. This shifts my thoughts and allows me to move through the fear to the point I can take action.

S1E15 The Power of Mindset: How to Transform Your Life with the Right Attitude
"The power comes when you choose what that mindset is going to be, as opposed to being buffeted by the winds of what happens to you during the day in fact, even that sentence contains a mindset, a belief, a story, a thought."
I'm always trying to learn new things and grow as a person. I am especially intrigued by the idea of mindsets.
A growth mindset is the idea that you can grow and improve your intelligence and abilities, while a fixed mindset is the belief that you are born with a certain level of ability and there's nothing you can do to change it. I realized that I have a growth mindset in some areas of my life, but there are still some areas where I have a fixed mindset.
In this episode, you will learn:
1. How our mindset affects almost every part of our lives, for better or for worse.
2. The power of the mind, including the placebo effect and the importance of a growth mindset.
3. How we can shift our mindset from one that limits us to one that empowers us.

Chapter Summaries:
[00:00:29] - Mindsets affect almost every part of our lives, and some of them serve us well, some not so much. There's a lot of research on the power of the mind.
[00:07:11] - A growth mindset is the idea that you can grow your talents and intelligence, a fixed mindset is where you believe that you are born with a certain level of intelligence or ability and there's nothing you can do to improve it.
[00:12:37] - There are many different types of mindsets that can be used to describe a person's view of the world. A person can change their mindset if they are open to it. The Accelerate Your Leadership Academy works on changing people's mindsets.

S1E14 The power of questions
"The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask."
I was recently talking to a client about a career dilemma she was facing. She was considering taking a job that was a step up into leadership, but she wasn't sure if it was the right fit for her. So I helped her by asking the 'quality' questions.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. What are some quality questions you can ask yourself to change your life for the better?
2. How can asking yourself certain questions help you get clarity about your career next steps?
3. What are the benefits of shifting your mindset from scarcity to abundance?
Resources:
Women in leadership facebook group

Chapter Summaries:
[00:00:30] - A client had a question about what to do with her career. We had a session on getting some clarity about her next steps. A few days later, she got an almost perfect role for her in her team. Unfortunately, the manager of the team wasn't a good fit for her.
[00:04:40] - There are questions that don't make a big difference in your life, but there are other questions that feel more life changing. The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask. The way my life has changed over the last few years is due to the questions I have been asking myself and that others have asked of me.
[00:08:19] - The first question is to imagine yourself one year in the future and looking back at the decision you made a year ago, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you know that you are really happy about the decision that you made one year ago?
[00:09:48] - In the accelerate your Leadership Academy one of the main focuses is on self-worth. The questions to be asked are: if you know you are amazing and that anyone who hires you is lucky to have you, would this job be the right one for you? If you don't know this without a shadow of a doubt, it might feel a little bit sad. But it's okay to accept that. If the job is going to be part of working on your skills or helping your sense of self worth, it can help you make the decision. If it's about working on particular skills, identify those skills and start to work.
[00:13:15] - Mindsets are the beliefs you hold that shape how you see the world and the way you see yourself within the world. Mindsets shape your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In this episode, the author challenges you to shift your mindset from scarcity to an abundance mindset.

"Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years." - Bill Gates
I'm still working on my patience level. I find I need to have patience with practicing patience although I'm a lot better than I used to be. There are many things that one wishes would happen faster in their lives and in their organizations. In the last five years, my life has changed a lot. I've moved from starting at the bottom in a new organization to now leading others and changing the culture at that same organization.
This week's episode of the Women and Leadership Podcast is about learning to be more patient.
Take a listen as I cover: 1. How resting can help you get more done, not less 2. What James Clear says about making 1% improvements every day. 3. What might trigger impatience and how to deal with it.

She's moved from starting at the bottom in a new organization to now leading others and changing the culture at that same organization. According to James Clear, making 1% improvements every day is a good way to get better at influencing others. Every day. It can feel like nothing's happening when we're first starting out, so it's easy to give up. This has happened with me over the past few years in a number of ways. S1E12 Should you be Quiet Quitting?
"To be honest, I'm not a fan. I don't like the term quiet quitting."
Quiet quitting is when you only do the tasks in your role description within the hours you're paid to work.
According to Gallup, 50% of American workers currently fall into the quiet quitting category. In this episode, you will learn the following:1. Why quiet quitting is a bigger deal in America than it is in Australia2. The four reasons quiet quitting makes sense.3. The one reason you wouldn't quiet quit.

Chapter Summaries:[00:00:01] - Quiet quitting is when you only do the tasks in your role description within the hours you're paid to work. It was coined in 2009 at an economic symposium in Texas. In the last few months, quiet quitting has become quite a trend on TikTok, especially for those in the Gen Z and Millennial age range.[00:01:50] - According to Gallup, 50% of American workers currently fall into the quiet quitting category. In Australia the trend isn't as noticeable as it is in America. There are four reasons why it makes sense to quitely quit your job and one reason not to.[00:11:00] - Acting your wage is another term used for quietly quitting. If you want to get a leadership role, you need to be acting the wage of the role you want, not just the one you're in. Aspiring leaders need to act as role models to avoid burnout.[00:14:39] - Join the Women in Leadership Facebook group to continue the conversation about quitely quitting.

S1E11 Thinking about thinking
"Self awareness can make us better at our jobs, better communicators in the workplace, and enhance our self confidence and job related well being."As a leadership coach I believe that being aware of your thoughts and feelings is one of the most important parts of being a leader. This week, I talk metacognition, or thinking about our thinking and self-awareness. According to research, among other things, self-awareness can make us better communicators in the workplace, which is exactly what we need to be as leaders and aspiring leaders. In this episode, you will learn:1. What Metacognition and self-awareness are and why we need to practice both
2. Metacognition and self-awareness can help us uncover our biases and bring our behavior back into alignment with our values.3. Mark Manson suggests that when practicing self-awareness, it's best to go just a few layers down until you start repeating yourself.Resources:Make sure you join the Accelerate your leadership Academy waiting list at www.herleadershipway.mykajabi.com/aylaChapter Summaries:[00:00:01] - Rochelle is the her leadership coach. She believes that being a leader from the inside out is the most important part of the accelerate your leadership method. She was listening to a book this week, all about Metacognition, which is thinking about our thinking. Self awareness is the ability to observe and accurately identify one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. According to research conducted by Sutton, Williams and Allenson in 2015, self awareness can make us better at our jobs, better communicators in the workplace, and enhance our self confidence and job related well being.[00:08:59] - When we practice metacognition and self awareness, we can uncover our biases and bring our behavior back into alignment with our values. She encourages people to give it a try, as it can help them to uncover their biases and build better relationships.[00:13:36] - There are three ways to get better at thinking about all the things. The first is journaling. The second is to talk it out with someone you trust. The third is to sit in silence.[00:16:51] - Mark Manson is the author of the Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck. He suggests that when practicing self awareness it's best to go only a few layers down until you start repeating yourself. He illustrates this with a story from 16th century India where a young man climbs a mountain to speak to the sage at the top.[00:18:57] - Join the Women and Leadership Facebook group to continue the conversation about metacognition and self awareness. S1Ep10 Taking care of you
"As leaders, we are called to be a role model to others. We want to show them that self care is important so that they can do so, too, without feeling guilty about spending time and money on themselves."
I went on a retreat last week and it was amazing. I used to feel guilty when I took time out for myself, but now I realize that it's actually really important. As leaders, we need to be role models for others and show them that it's okay to take care of themselves.
So this week, we're talking about what gets in the way of self-care, and how we might embrace the habit instead. It's not always easy to make time for self care, but it's worth it.
In this episode, you will learn:
1. How I used to feel guilty about taking time out for myself, and how that has changed (mostly).
2. The importance of self care for leaders.
3. How to make self care a habit, and some tips for doing so.

S1E9 Managing Up: The Key to Getting Ahead
"Managing up is not about getting your manager to do what you want them to do."
In today's episode, Rochelle talks about how to manage up and why it's important for aspiring leaders.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. How to manage up in a way that will actually accelerate your next promotion.
2. How to get your needs met outside of your manager
3. How to let your manager know what you're capable of without appearing to be a bragger.
Resources: Women in Leadership facebook group
Chapter Summaries: [00:00:01] - Rochelle is the her leadership coach. On the podcast, Rochelle is talking about how to manage up on today's episode. Managing up can feel daunting at first, but it's simply good relationship management.
[00:01:12] - After ten years in public service, she has learned a lot about managing up. Today she will talk about three techniques that will help you manage up in a way that will actually accelerate your next promotion.
[00:04:55] - As an aspiring leader, you need to build relationships with your team, your colleagues and your boss. You need to find out if your boss is an introvert or an extrovert. If they are more task oriented or people oriented, adjust your communication with them accordingly.
[00:08:19] - There are two reasons why people feel their bosses are difficult: Their values aren't the same as their employees', and/or they're not meeting their needs. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, the founders of Apple, didn't have the same values, but together, they changed the world. It's okay to have different values from your boss. It doesn't make one of you better or worse than the other.
[00:10:38] - It's time to show your boss what you can do when you're not in the room, listening for opportunities to share stories that highlight things you've accomplished in the past, letting your boss know where you want to go in your career and what will help you get there ahead of time.

S1E8 How to Make Your Values Work for You
"You have far more choice in what your values are than we are led to believe"
It took me a while to get to my leadership role the second time around (after kids). So I refused to quit trying even when I suffered knockbacks and difficult times trying to get to my leadership role. All because of my why. I was determined to make a difference by doing leadership in a way that was going to have a positive effect on my team rather than a negative one – and that was based on my values of fairness and making a difference.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
The importance of knowing your values
How to be more intentional about living in alignment with your values
That you have more control over what your values are than you think Resources: Woomen in Leadership facebook group
Chapter Summaries:
[00:00:42] - If you want to make a positive difference to your life one of the first steps is to identify your values. The second is to take stock of how well you live your life according to your values. When we live in alignment with our values, we have more energy and life satisfaction.
[00:04:22] - Being a leader in itself is not always easy. Unfortunately many people give up trying and convince themselves that they never really wanted to be a leader. It helps in getting to a leadership role to know your why. And underlying your why is your values, your deepest values and your goals that align with those values.
[00:06:34] - There are clues as to how well you are living in alignment with your values. If you feel icky or triggered at the moment, you might be out of alignment with the values behind those feelings and need to look for a solution to bring yourself back into alignment.
[00:08:29] - Rochelle's word for 2022 is "intentional". It is important to live in alignment with your values and to make intentional choices about what your values are, and what you do and don't do based on those values.
[00:14:06] - I invite you to consider what do you value most? I encourage you to get down to your top five values to help decision making and keep you focused. Then ask yourself if you are living your life aligned to those values yet.

S1E7 Trying New Things: Why We Fear Them and How to Overcome That
"Try this first. Think about what you're assuming this will say about you, and by default, what you're assuming they will think about you if it goes wrong. And then I challenge you to come up with a completely different meaning, a completely different reaction that you could assume someone was going"
I turned 50 this year, and I made a commitment to myself to do 50 new things before the year is over. It's important for leaders to be willing to try new things. It shows that you're willing to take risks and that you're open to new ideas.
Sometimes people won't try new things because they're afraid of what others might think if it doesn't go according to plan. But I challenge you to reframe what the possible outcome could mean. It might not be as bad as you think.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. What's so good about trying new things?
2. Why is it so difficult for people to try new things?
3. What if you're wrong about the meaning you've put on something?
Resources: Women in Leadership Facebook group
Chapter Summaries: [00:00:01] - Rochelle turned 50 this year. She made a commitment to do 50 new things before the year is over. Being willing to try new things is an important trait for a leader.
[00:02:23] - For some people, the last new thing they tried was 20 years ago. Some new things are easy to try, like a new lipstick or a new color of beer. Other things are a bigger deal, like jumping out of a plane or swimming with sharks.
There are things in the middle that people are still afraid to try. They think failing at them means something about them. What if you put a different meaning on something? What if not hearing a response of I love you from the other person simply means they come from a family that never said it before? If choosing a restaurant that turns out to be awful means you and your friend both have a good laugh about it, if not being able to work out how to use the Digital Planner straight away is a great way of role modeling to your team,
[00:10:36] - Tracy's daughter has been teaching herself Spanish, and she'd asked Tracy to learn it with her. Tracy had let her fear of being terrible at it and the meaning that being terrible would disappoint her daughter, stop her from doing it altogether. Giving it a new possible meaning has allowed her to take action and start to learn the new language.

S1E6 The Power of Words: Why the words you use matter
The words we use - both to others and to ourselves - have the power to shape our reality and change our world for the better. Do you know that the words you speak can shape your reality? "Your words are powerful." I was listening to the Her Leadership Coach podcast the other day and it got me thinking about the power of words. Our words are so powerful and so often we don't realise it. We can use them to positively or negatively impact ourselves and those around us. Just one word can change the meaning of a whole sentence. The next time you're talking to yourself or someone else, be mindful of the words you're using and how they might be received.
Words can shape our reality and change our world for the better.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. The power of words to shape our reality
2. The importance of using positive words when talking to ourselves
3. The significance of the words we don't use
Chapter Summaries: [00:02:11] - There are a few three-letter words that can make a difference to how a sentence lands when you're talking to someone. The author has been working on reducing his use of the word 'but' for a while now.
[00:05:56] - Carol Dweck coined the Term “growth mindset”, which is a belief that we have the ability to better ourselves through effort, through learning and through good teaching. A fixed mindset is the belief that you are born as you are and you can't grow anymore. One of the exercises to help children and adults change from this fixed mindset to a growth mindset is to add the word “yet“ to a number of sentences.
[00:09:32] - Positive and negative words affect us on a deep psychological level and have a significant impact on how our lives turn out. Negative words release stress and anxiety inducing hormones.
[00:13:19] - Today's first challenge is to come up with a new phrase to replace a negative one you use with a positive one. Decide in advance and write it down so that you don't have to think of something on the spur of the moment. Over time, it will build the neural pathways and you will find that you stop using the old phrase and start using the new one.
[00:15:11] - The last point of today's talk is about the words we don't use. When we just don't address the elephant in the room. We turn our backs on it, pretend nothing's gone on and we've got nothing to say.
[00:16:27] - Today's second challenge is to think about the words you're not speaking right now and what it is you're scared about saying them out loud. Next, think about how would the best leader version of you find a way to speak the words she's afraid of?

S1E5 The Six Areas You Need to Embrace for a Productive, Less-Stressed Life (Part 2)
I'm sharing the final three pieces of the Done Not Dusted framework so that you can get productivity, focus, and freedom.
"I've come to see energy as one of our most precious resources."Hi, I'm Rochelle, the Her Leadership Coach, and I help quietly determined career women step up into leadership roles.
In this episode, we're finishing up the work we started last week on the three pieces of the puzzle to getting things done without stress.
This week, we're focusing on energy, habits, and systems.
I believe that energy is one of our most precious resources, and we need to do everything we can to protect it and work with our natural rhythms. Our productivity is shaped by our habits, so it's important to be mindful of what we're doing and choose habits that will benefit us. Systems can help us be more productive by taking away the need to make decisions or reinvent the wheel every time we do something.
I hope you find this information helpful and that it allows you to lead the way, her way.In this episode, you will learn the following:1. How our habits shape our productivity2. How energy levels affect our ability to focus and be productive3. How systems can give us back our freedom
Resources:The Done, not Dusted course details are at https://herleadershipway.com/donenotdusted
Chapter Summaries:
[00:01:15] - Last week, we went through the first three pieces of the puzzle: clarity, the scientist mindset, and being a person of integrity. This week, we're looking at the remaining three: energy, habits and systems. The six areas fall under the framework:. Who do I need to be? How do I work? And what do I do?[00:02:35] - Energy is one of our most precious resources. We need to protect our energy and work with the natural rhythm of that energy. Get the sleep, eat the foods that give you energy and do the exercise. Work with our energy rather than against it. Think about when you are naturally most awake.[00:08:13] - Habits are important because they affect our productivity and stress levels. It's important to be mindful about what you're doing, and cataloging your habits is a good place to start the phone, picking up, drinking coffee and going for a run are some of the habits that can be changed.[00:11:09] - Systems are a set of practices and procedures that are applied to specific activities to achieve a specific result. Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and others have a system for their clothes, so they wear the same clothes every day. System gives you back your freedom and gives your brain more space for creativity.[00:14:40] - If you have a couple of minutes to rate and review the podcast, I'd really appreciate it.Other episodes you'll enjoy:S1Ep4 The Six Areas You Need to Embrace for a Productive, Less-Stressed Life (Part 1)Connect with me:
