#72 Madelyn Dunlap | How to manage transitions for growth
Today I am interviewing Madelyn Dunlap who is the Business Development Strategist for The Rewild Group.
Madelyn shared how to manage transitions in companies to create grow, and this phrase really sums it up "In times of transitions, in times of chaos, leaders need to focus on structure, clarity and focus". Structure was about creating boundaries and processes that instill certainty and enable employees to be guided in a positive way, not a fixed structure but a more fluid one. Focus, is about being absolutely aware of your priorities as a business, whether top line priorities or within each role off the company, and creating opportunities for them to be shared. And then finally clarity, which does link to focus, knowing what is important to focus on, what will make the greatest impact.

BOOST #11 | The problem with goal setting
Welcome to this solo series called BOOST, the purpose is to give you little BOOST to your day, to further provide ways to create a thriving organisation.
The problem with goal setting is that failure state can quickly turn people off from pursuing the goal they've set. What's more, once a goal is reached, the feeling of joy is often fleeting. People feel a rush of happiness, but it quickly fades as a new goal creeps into focus. The key is not just to set SMART goals but ensure that they are aligned to your overall purpose/mission of the company or even you personally.
If they are encapsulated within the context of the purpose, then all you are doing is setting clear goals that will get you closer to the overall mission or purpose, they are far more motivating and inspiring and aligned to what matters.

#70 Gillian Harwood | How to harness adversity for creative business building ideas
Today I am interviewing Gillian Harwood who is the Co-Founder/Managing Director of United Workspace Ltd and Lewes Workspace Ltd.
Gillian Harwood’s career spans over 40 years. She was a pioneer of her time in the late 1970’s when she undertook the mammoth task of converting an abandoned Victorian bus factory, restoring and transforming it with flair and imagination into a successful business hub for small businesses; one of the first of its kind. It was a bold and courageous move and one that earned her ‘Business Woman of the Year Award’, presented to her by the late Margaret Thatcher.
Gillian shares how adversity created the opportunity for a business idea, it was the fact that her house was going to be repossessed by the bank, that the insight for 'bed sitters for businesses' (now known as co-working space) was created. And since the 1970's Gillian has gone on to create many more co-worker spaces across London and the south east, with the driving force to really help enable and empower new business to be established and grow. Recently she sold her Busworks co-working space business for £45m - a testament for her visionary leadership and entrepreneurship.

#69 Michelle Seiler Tucker | How to scale your business with your people
Today I am interviewing Michelle Seiler Tucker who is Founder and President of Seiler Tucker.
Michelle shares her wisdom of many years of advising and helping to scale and sell businesses. Michelle has released a new book called Exit Rich with 6 P's method (#1 People, #2 Product, #3 Process, #4 Proprietary, #5 Patrons and #6 Profit) we focused on People & Product in this episode. Within people is to ensure that you have all the right people in the right roles, not only for now but have a future view as well. You can’t sell a business if it’s 100% dependent on you. Business owners and leaders need to focus on their strengths, hire out their weaknesses, and focus on the right area. The goal is to grow a business that can be run by the people around you. Product is all about making sure you continually innovate and market your business, don't be a Blockbuster and be complacent, always look for ways to meeting the needs of your customer or clients. Create a mindset in the business for innovation, of pushing the boundaries, pushing so much that you fail.

#65 Kevyn Rustici | What HR leaders need to do to lead the people agenda in the new normal
Today I am interviewing Kevyn Rustici who is a Strategic Human Capital Consultant for Gallagher.
Kevyn shared his insights and views on how HR leaders can help shape the future of work by truly focusing on the people doing the work, creating cultures focused on the emotional, mental, physical, and financial well-being of the individual. His approach is for HR leaders to use data and gain insights from this data. Having new information (People Data) available and utilising these insights will help to improve decision making, we will then use our gut, instinct and intuition less to make pivotal business decisions. Kevyn's idea is changing HR departments from a "cost center" to a "profit center" is not some crazy idea it's an evolution, a change of perspective and intention which will drive the necessary changes required in the new normal, because we aren't "Going Back to Normal."

#64 Glenys Chatterley | The importance of networking as a leader
Today I am interviewing Glenys Chatterley who is the MD of Effective Business Network (ebn).
Glenys has been networking her whole business life, something that she realised was important when she left the corporate world to start her own business. And as we now start more in-person networking Glenys shared a tip that has help her and many others to create an impact whilst networking, that the 3, 3 and 3.
Often entering a room with lots of people can be overwhelmed, the key is to have a strategy and breakdown the approach, so initially speak to 3 people that you know really well, don;t spend too much time but arrange to have coffee another time. Then move onto to 3 people you know a little, so you can start to build upon that relationship. And now move onto 3 people you don't know, perhaps the previous conversations have introduced them to you, or ask them are anyone you should talk to in the room. This way you would have had 9 meaningful conversations at least, you can go again if time permits. Glenys shared other key strategies for networking.

#61 Debbie Hancock | How to create a healthy money mindset for business
Today I am interviewing Debbie Hancock who is the founder of Southbourne Accountancy and Business services, who is also a chartered management accountant.
Debbie shares the importance of a healthy money mindset, whether we are a business owner or work for an organisation, in fact it affects all areas of our life. Debbie shares that our attitudes to money are developed when we are growing up, in how we were given money, told what to do with it, how our parents talked about money, and how we responded to having or not having money - this creates our beliefs for money.
The importance is to understand what those beliefs are now, and if they are limiting beliefs we need to change them so that we can walk in freedom around money. One way is to re frame the narratives you have around money and make them positive affirmations, e.g. my family were not very good with money would become I am now my own family and successful money manager who has transformed the age old family pattern to be good with money.
