Social Media Manager Q&A | November 2024 Edition

Social Media Manager Q&A | November 2024 Edition

This week is a Q&A brought to you by my Instagram question box. I had some great questions come through and have had to whittle it down to 6, so I don’t turn this on to a loooong podcast. Also, with the approaching busy season of Black Friday, the Holiday Season and my business birthday, I wanted to keep this episode light & breezy and just have a chat with you all. Questions covered today: How to create an email marketing funnel from social media? How would you deliver bad analytics to a client? Things for women in their 20s to know What’s your favourite tool for saving passwords and password sharing? If you could start your business over again, what would you change? How do you manage so many clients at once? If you have any burning questions, follow me over on instagram (link below) as I often will ask for questions on my stories. Or feel free to flick them through on my DMs and I'll keep them in mind for my next Q&A episode. As always, I'd love if you could subscribe to the podcast, or leave a review. This helps me be encouraged to keep delivering this free content to you.  Appreciate you all for listening!Take CareEllen xx ~~~ Mentioned in today's episode: 50% off Kajabi: https://app.kajabi.com/r/GjosGvor Kajabi 30 day free trial: https://app.kajabi.com/r/GjosGvor/t/bqsarnoe Social Media Starter Kit: https://www.ellenmackenzie.com/freebie  https://www.lastpass.com/ - for password sharing and saving    Want to get more Ellen or Work with her and her team? Episode Rewind: Can You Become a Social Media Manager With No Experience?

NOTE: This episode was originally uploaded in August 2021. ~~~ Yes! Another Rewind episode, but this was so popular and also happens to be one I still send to people when they ask me anything about needing experience in my dms. It's had a bit of editing done to the episode, but I still think you'll get a lot out of it today! When I decided that I'd like to become a social media manager, I didn't think I would start my own agency or become a freelancer. I felt I needed to find a corporate job where I start as an in-house Social Media Manager. In today's episode, we're going to dive deep into this topic. I'm going to talk about how I got started, how I changed careers and got my first few clients, and how I built that up into a full-time gig. I'm also going to give you some tips and advice if you are in a position where you want to move into social media management, and you're trying to get your feet off the ground and get started. In this episode, you'll discover... Pricing yourself as a beginner vs. pricing yourself as an experienced social media manager  The perks of starting in social media management compared to other industries  Why hands-on experience trumps a degree or qualification as a social media manager Different ways to get hands-on experience when you're starting out If you have the time, please could you rate and review this podcast or subscribe to it. Episode Rewind: A Full Social Media Strategy for Beginners in 5 Steps

NOTE: This episode was originally uploaded in January 2022. It is one of my most downloaded episodes, so I though this was a good time to re-release it to you. Everything is still relevant today! ~~~ Social Media Strategy: This was something that used to highly intimated me! Imposter syndrome is flaring as a new entrepreneur finding your way in a new industry, and this word strategy honestly felt so daunting. Over two years later, I can see now that strategy is just a fancy term (for people who must be really good at their job, lol). It doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming at all.  In this episode, I want to help you understand what a social media strategy looks like and how to develop and present a social media strategy to a client or customer.  In this episode, you'll discover… Understanding your client’s goals Doing the research  The brain dump Auditing your clients podcast  Planning the content calendar Presenting your strategy  If you have the time, please could you rate and review this podcast or subscribe to it. Is a Social Media Manager Responsible for Growth?

Is a Social Media Manager Responsible for Growth?

Is a Social Media Manager Responsible for Growth? The answer isn't so straight forward. This episode is one about the challenges behind Social Media Managers, and the pressure we put on ourselves! It's also an episode I think business owners who have a SMM already, or are looking to hire a SMM, could benefit from listening to. Some takeaways: There is a lot of pressure and expectation on social media managers and self-imposed expectations can be just as heavy as client expectations. No one has control over the algorithm; it's unpredictable. Good content is the best strategy for growth. Clients should understand the value of a social media manager beyond just growth. A social media manager's role includes systems, strategy, and community engagement. The value created for clients is a lifetime asset for their business. Marketing should not rely solely on social media; it should be part of a broader strategy. If you have the time, please could you rate and review this podcast or subscribe to it. Onboarding a New Client: My Step-By-Step Process

This is an episode I've been thinking about doing for awhile now, but I wasn't how much you would want an episode on this until someone actually requested it in my DMs. While onboarding a new client is something I've done many times, I realise it can be quite daunting your first couple of times. Hopefully this episode helps you get some key steps locked in for your first or next onboarding. Some key takeaways from this episode are: Contracts and invoices should be prioritised before starting work. Charging upfront is a standard practice in the industry. Understanding client preferences enhances the onboarding experience. Gathering inspiration from clients can guide content creation. Setting clear timelines helps manage client expectations. Embrace the learning process and overcome imposter syndrome. Trust in your ability to figure things out as you grow. Thank you so much for listening, and as always, please reach out in my DMs with questions or thoughts on this episode and please also sent through any requests for subjects to cover in future epsiodes. Mindset & Business Lessons From Simone Biles

Mindset & Business Lessons From Simone Biles

Ellen discusses the inspiring journey of Simone Biles and the lessons we can learn from her as business owners. This episode was inspired by her amazing performance at the Olympics and was recorded after she won the all-round gold medal! She also discusses the significance of having a reason for people to follow you, rather than just having a niche. Ellen highlights the importance of putting effort into content creation and the ups and downs of engagement. She also talks about the evolution of content formats and trends on Instagram, and the balance between curation and authenticity. Ellen emphasizes the power of connection and the importance of trusting oneself and listening to one's own opinions.  Takeaways: Content creation is a skill that needs to be developed over time. Having a reason for people to follow you is more important than having a niche. Putting effort into content creation leads to better results. Content formats and trends on Instagram change over time. Connection with the audience is the most important outcome of social media. Metrics will always go up and down, so don't focus too much on vanity metrics. The Mindset Shift That Helped Me Book More Clients

The Mindset Shift That Helped Me Book More Clients

Ok Guys, I recorded this episode fresh off the plane from the USA and I was in a super productive, thriving mindset. I had even unpacked my suitcase and cleared my emails! I hadn't felt like this in a long time, so it made sense to record this episode on mindset. TBH the New Year's fever hadn't hit me and I was just too tired to set my goals and forecast the year. And I think we just need to give ourselves permission to relax, take it easy - we don't need to subscribe to the New Year hype of starting the year with a bang and rearing to go. But now I've settled in, I'm fresh from having a holiday, and I'm feeling ready to go. And to do that, we get our mindset in check. I'm seeing this a lot in our community at the moment and that's how much your mindset affects your ability to book clients. This is what I'm un-packing in this episode. Outsourcing vs Hiring a Coach

Outsourcing vs Hiring a Coach

Today is all about Outsourcing vs Hiring a Coach. I, in no way, prefer one over the other, but instead it's more about the timing of them. You guys know I'm an advocate for outsourcing and how essential it is for business owners who want to scale. Any time I've reached an income cap or I haven't been able to reach a certain goal, hiring a specialist or a contractor has been the way to help me break through that boundary. However, I think that hiring a coach can be another way to break those boundaries as well. It really just comes down to where you are in your business. So listen as I go through how each of these have impacted my business, and when I've found that the timing is right for going with either of these options. If you haven't already, listen to my previous episode on outsourcing here: Outsourcing as an Online Business Owner And as always, I'd love to hear what you think. Flick me a DM and tell me if you've invested in a coach for your business, or if you've started outsourcing. You can also message me any questions you have.  If you have the time, please could you rate and review this podcast or subscribe to it.
