Comic Patrol
If you dig comic books, this is the podcast for you: we are wickedly good-looking, incredibly knowledgeable and mildly dumb as HECK. From comic book arc analysis, to movie pitches, to publisher/writer spotlights, to character comparisons and more(!!), join co-hosts Coke and Dank in this weekly podcast to get your ears humped with geek culture... This is Comic Patrol. Warning: Hosts may experience brief moments of cheer as tangents of random discourse often distract and amuse all parties.
#38 - Comic Books Based on Video Games
Comic books and video games have a long(ish) history, going back a few decades: sometimes adaptations, sometimes continuations, sometimes filler and other times trash.
With co-host Dank away in another galaxy, we have our 3rd(ish) team member fill in, who just happens to love video games as much as Coke does: introducing Whippet! The two Weapons go through a bunch(ish) of video game based comic books and how well(ish) they translated to this wonderful form of media. There was a list made for both co-hosts to cover the same books, but instructions weren't followed so there are more books in this episode than originally planned...
This episode contains spoilers and/or brief looks at the following books:
- Injustice
- Infamous
- Mercenaries
- Mass Effect: Redemption
- The Witcher (2014)
- Tomb Raider: Discoveries
- Tomb Raider (2014)
- Ratchet & Clank
- Sonic the Hedgehog (1993)
- Sonic Universe
- Mega Man (2011)
- Mortal Kombat (1994)
- Mortal Kombat X
- Resident Evil (1998)
- Halo: Breaking Quarantine
- Halo: Fall of Reach - Boot Camp

Prince of Cats [Arc Analysis #9]
You've never read anything like this before. Trust us, you haven't.
Oh, you have, huh? You've read an 80's, hip-hop influenced, samurai-themed spin on Romeo and Juliet, that positions the title characters out of the spotlight to focus on Tybalt (and his underground sword-dueling gang) instead, while written in iambic pentameter?
Is that a yes? Well then, keep it moving, I guess... But for those of you who have yet to experience Ronald Wimberly's 2012 (or 2016 rework), please listen in as we talk about Prince of Cats for our 9th installment of Arc Analysis.

#37 - Zorro & Batman [Across the Pages]
Across the Pages (AxP) is our series where we take two similar-ish characters/teams/properties from different creators or publishers and give their various forms of media a well-deserved spotlight.
This time around, for our 4th go at AxP, it's The Fox and The Bat: Zorro and Batman. Zorro enters his 101st year in 2020 and Batman his 81st, so it isn't hard to tell that these two have HISTORY. They also have a ton of similarities, and one is partially based on the other, hence their comparison in Across the Pages!
The movies we cover are 1998's The Mask of Zorro, and 1997's Batman and Robin.
The books we cover are Zorro: Sacrilege, and Batman: Gothic.
Needless to say, there are both very high and very low points in this episode... Very, very low points...

Zorro: The Gay Blade [Bottle Cap Review]
Ok, wait. Let us explain! This isn't what it looks like... ok, it is exactly what it looks like: an 80's Zorro parody flick where Zorro injures himself and his flamboyant twin brother takes over the cowl in the meantime.
That's really it. Oh ya, plus some solid laughs and not as many gay jokes as you might expect (there are definitely still gay jokes and the like tho).
We break this movie down - one of us for the 1st time and the other for the 50th time, this is our bottle cap review of Zorro! The Gay Blade.

Daybreak of X [#33.2]
Welcome to our next DoX update episode - it's been a little while, but we're back with more X-books.
Boom Boom to the rescue! Apocalypse in a suit! Kate and Emma new besties? Psylocke's enemy revealed, monsters and dragons galore, and a few new deaths are all ahead for your eargasming pleasure.
Last time we did all the #2's and #3's, but this time around, we're covering the #4's and a few #5's (the others will be held off until the #33.3 update). In this episode we talk about, breakdown and add some commentary to:
New Mutants #4
X-Men #4
Marauders #4 & #5
Excalibur #4 & #5
X-Force #4
Fallen Angels #4 & #5

Locke & Key Vol 1: Welcome to Lovecraft [Arc Analysis #8]
Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez created Locke and Key.
Coke and Dank now breakdown Locke and Key.
From IDW, a 2008 story about mystery, suspense, family and self-discovery. We go through the story, talk about the characters, the plot and all the best parts of this creative, twisted world.

#36 - Sony-So-Far-Verse
We had another episode idea slated and sketched out, but with the new Morbius trailer - and the thoughts that come along with - we switched things up and tossed out the episode outline.
This is a little bit different: no script, no show prep, no notes - we just have a discussion about the new trailer, the Sony-Spider-Movie-Verse, the relationship with Marvel Studios, their other planned movies, and what it all might mean through the drunken lenses of us,. D'Lethal Weapons.

Batman TAS: Two-Face Pt 1 & 2 [Bottle Cap Review]
It has been a long time coming, but we have finally bottle capped a Batman TAS arc: Two-Face Pt 1 and 2. Arguably the best cartoon from our childhood, this story takes place across season 1, episodes 10 and 11, and is the birth/beginning of Harvey Dent's full transformation into Big Bad Harv A.K.A. Two-Face.
How does Batman deal with his mentally ill friend turning full heel, while crime rings around Gotham grow stronger and more bold? Check it out with us

#35 - Twelve Death Days
Merry Christmas!
This was supposed to be our very festive Christmas episode, where we twist the 12 days of Christmas into the 12 days of comic book deaths.... But, our December was a mess, and so you guys are all getting this wonderfully joyous episode later than anticipated. And you'll like it too, goddammit.
In this one, we talk about and rate (because we're morbid like that) a dozen different character deaths spanning Marvel and DC comics; from Jason Todd to Wolverine to Nightcrawler and Black Adam, hit play to hear it all.

Gideon Falls Vol 1: The Black Barn [Arc Analysis #7]
There are SO. MANY. BOOKS.
And because of that, we are breaking away from our usual episodes, and bringing you the first (of many) independent Arc Analysis series episodes.
The first one up - or 7th if you've been keeping up - is the creepy and moody Image Comics' Gideon Falls: The Black Barn (issues #1 to #6) buy Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. We break it down inside, and are quite split on the series: listen in to find out why... Unless you're some wanker who doesn't like us. Give us another chance, man!

Dawning of X [#33.1]
We're ambitious AF.
And because of that, we made a promise that we'd be following along with the Dawn of X series as it progresses.
Welcome to our first (unofficial episode) that is continuing off of our HOX POX and DOX #1 (official episodes). Confused a bit? Don't worry about it - we always are.
In this part of the series, we will be covering the next couple issues of each book that has been launched for the Dawn of X movement: X-Men, Marauders, Excalibur, X-Force, New Mutants and Fallen Angels, all of their #2 and #3 issues.
Enjoy, or at least pretend to.

Last episode was us toxing about hox pox, this week we're toxing dox. That's right - the first issues of the Dawn of X age are upon us, and we go over them together just for you. And you. And you, and you, and YOU.
We take a look at X-Men #1, Marauders #1, Excalibur #1, New Mutants #1, X-Force #1 and Fallen Angels #1. We talk about the teams in each book, a few theories we have, and share what we like or didn't like about each of the new issues, as well as expose what other books are to come in early 2020.

Boo.
Scary, right? Welp, we tried.
And that is what today's episode is all about. The 31st episode on the 31st day of October, or as some dweebs call it: All Hallow's Eve. The devil is out in full force, and in celebration in that evil, we have a festive episode where we break down IDW's mega hit from over a decade ago: 30 Days of Night.
Come kick it with the Weapons as we take this 3-issue comic through another chapter of our Arc Analysis series - breaking down the story from start to finish, the art, the writing, what we liked, what we didn't like, and you get the picture.

Across the Pages (AxP) is our series where we take two similar-ish characters/teams/concepts from different creators or publishers and give their various forms of media a well-deserved spotlight.

We give our thoughts on both first seasons of the shows for each property, as well as an arc from each comic book history: Doom Patrol's Crawling from the Wreckage and Umbrella Academy's Apocalypse Suite.

Promised to you back during our 3 part DC Animated Movies discussions, here it is: the comic event of the 90's.
