STAYING at the Top - Mix 104.1 Boston's KARSON & KENNEDY
Some morning teams come, and some go ─ but since 2003, Karson and Kennedy have become a morning mainstay in every market they’ve been in. They started the show together at Hot 104.9 in Tallahassee. After about eighteen months, they were hired by Q107.5 (WHBQ-FM) in Memphis Then, in 2009 they got the call from Boston, where they continue to hold court at Mix 104.1 (WWBX-FM). The show is fast-paced and will have you laughing until it hurts one minute and then wiping tears away from your eyes the next. Soon, they moved to mornings before heading on to WBON in Knoxville, TN. Next stop was New Jersey, where they were simulcast on two stations. The Free Beer & Hot Wings Show began full syndication in 2004 with the addition of WGRD in Grand Rapids, MI. Joe joined the show in 2005, followed by Steve in 2009 and Kelly in 2019. 071 - J.T. the Brick - From One BIG LEAGUE to Another
You won’t find a more fast-paced, high-energy sports talk show than J .T. “The Brick”. A former stockbroker, JT got his start in sports radio after becoming a frequent caller to The Jim Rome Show. After winning the inaugural "Smack-Off" in 1995, he was offered a job hosting a late-night Sunday show at KMAX-Los Angeles. From there, JT moved his show to KFMB, San Diego where he only spent a few weeks before being offered a show on the now-defunct Las Vegas-based Sports Fan Radio Network. During this time, he also hosted an afternoon show on San Francisco-based radio station KNBR. In June 2001, her landed at the upstart FOX Sports Radio network, hosting a variety of shows. With his outspoken, big, booming voice, J.T. hosts one of radio’s most interactive shows as he fields calls from listeners across the country. Joined each evening by co-host Tomm Looney (the voice of The Best Damn Sports Show Period) their outspoken dialogue is second to none as they bring a new attitude to nighttime sports talk radio on the FOX Sports network.

Memorial Day weekend brought news of the passing of another kind of veteran. A veteran of the radio wars. Celebrated voice talent and imaging conceptualist NICK MICHAELS passed away unexpectedly due to a massive heart attack. Nick was a passionate media thought leader and innovator, who saw where much of the radio industry has headed, without ever losing his ever-evolving vision for what the audio experience could be. Walter Sterling has been in radio since he was 15. He worked for a suburban New Jersey station for minimum wage as an on-air DJ.
