The Author Of Why Is Sam So Sad Dan Granger Speaks Openly About Seasonal Affective Disorder
Why Is Sam So Sad? Seasonal Affective disorder and Depression from a Child’s Perspective (Christian Faith Publishing), is about a boy named Sam, who suffers from SAD. Sam tells the reader all about what he experiences and feels. He goes on to explain what causes sadness within and how the weather plays into how he behaves during this time of year. He tells the readers how he treats his friends and family and even his dog during this SAD time of the year. Sam expounds what the letters S.A.D stand for in Seasonal Affective Disorder. He discusses the remedies he uses to combat SAD. Some include taking vitamins, staring at a special light, and the burdensome task of remembering something good that happened during these SAD days. Sam ends the book reminding the reader to practice gratitude. Because Sam feels you can’t be angry and grateful at the same time. “I wrote this book as a springboard for parents and teachers to understand depression from a child's point of view,” says author Dan Granger. “My hope is that my book inspires parents and teachers to talk to children about depression. In my opinion, I don’t feel depression is talked about early enough. What if by talking to the children we could curtail some effects of teen years caused by feeling hopeless, alone, and never understood? My hope is that by talking to the kids early about depression when the teen years come and depression is more common, the teen will be ready for it.” Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

The Creator Of The First Independent Film Accepted Into The Cannes Film Festival Susan Seidelman
Trailblazing movie director Susan Seidelman, shares a funny and insightful first-person story of her life from her Twiggy-obsessed girlhood to the Madonna-mania of the 80's and beyond in her memoir, DESPERATELY SEEKING SOMETHING: A Memoir About Movies, Mothers, and Material Girls. Her genre-blending films reflect a passion for classic Hollywood storytelling, mixed with a playful New Wave spirit, informed by her years living in downtown NYC. Starting out in the mid-70s, a time when few women were directing movies, Susan was determined to become a filmmaker. She longed to tell stories about the unrepresented characters she wanted to see on screen: unconventional women in unusual circumstances, needing to express themselves and maintain their autonomy. Her fearless punk drama, Smithereens became the first American indie film to compete at Cannes, and smash hit Desperately Seeking Susan led to a four-decade career in film. Seidelman continued to shape American pop culture well into the nineties, directing the pilot of the iconic TV series Sex And The City, focusing her sharp lens on the changing place of women in American society and helping to fundamentally reshape our self-image in ways that are still felt today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Alec Baldwin's Trial Has Begun Ted Rowlands Court TV Live Hooks You Up
A New Mexico judge has ruled that actor Alec Baldwin's indictment will stand in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of his film Rust. In an order on Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer turned down a motion by Baldwin's attorneys to dismiss the indictment. Baldwin therefore remains scheduled to go on trial July 9th for involuntary manslaughter. Nearly three years ago, during a rehearsal for a scene in the Western movie on a ranch outside Santa Fe, Baldwin was holding the prop gun that had been loaded with live ammunition. The Colt .45 revolver went off, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Baldwin, who was also a producer for the film, pleaded not guilty, and has maintained he was not responsible for Hutchins' death. Shortly after the shooting, he told ABC News he had "no idea" how a live bullet got onto the set of his film, but that he "didn't pull the trigger." In March, a jury found the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, guilty of involuntary manslaughter and negligent use of a firearm. She's now serving an 18-month prison sentence. The New Mexico Environment Department's Occupational Health and Safety Bureau issued a citation against Rust Movie Productions and fined them for failures that led to Hutchins' "avoidable death." The high-profile criminal case against Alec Baldwin has had many twists and turns. Baldwin was first charged in 2023, but New Mexico's case against him faced a number of setbacks: Baldwin's attorneys fought to remove special prosecutor Andrea Reeb, a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives. She stepped down from the case. So did the district attorney who brought the case, after downgrading the charges against the actor. (Baldwin initially faced charges for a minimum of five years in prison under a "firearm enhancement" statute, but his legal team noted that such a law didn't take effect in New Mexico until after the fatal Rustshooting.) In April of 2023, the charges against Baldwin were dropped as two new special prosecutors were assigned. In October, they presented their case to a grand jury to determine whether he should be criminally charged. By January, the jury agreed to indict him. But last week, Baldwin's attorneys Alex Spiro and Luke Nikas asked Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer to dismiss his charges. They argued that during the grand jury hearing, the state's special prosecutor unfairly stacked the deck against Baldwin, leaving out key testimony and interrupting witnesses multiple times. "She doesn't cut off anybody saying 'I don't like Alec Baldwin,' that's for sure. It's always in one direction," said Spiro. Spiro argued that the "overzealous" special prosecutor engaged in "bad faith" by failing to make defense witnesses available to testify, and for presenting contradictory testimony. Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey, meanwhile, was on the defensive with Judge Sommer. She denied that she had done anything nefarious before the grand jury."Everything he's saying to you right now is a complete misrepresentation," Morrissey said of Spiro. "I didn't hide any information from the grand jury." She said she had planned to present several defense witnesses if the grand jurors asked for their testimony, and she denied that the testimony was contradictory."I want the court to understand that all I was trying to do was get the most accurate information before the grand jury," Morrissey explained. She defended the testimony of witnesses, including that of veteran movie armorer Bryan Carpenter, who spoke about industry weapons practices during the grand jury trial: "Everything that Mr. Carpenter said is absolutely accurate about the way that safety protocols on movie sets are supposed to work." She said Carpenter testified in the Gutierrez-Reed trial that the armorer is in charge of gun safety, and he testified before the grand jury "that the actor has a responsibility for the firearm once it is in his hand."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Chef Tara Wigley Simplifies Cooking In Her New Book How To Butter Toast
Melted butter on hot toast and served up on a plate. It seems like nothing, really, could be clearer or more straight. But though, in terms of things required, the number is just two, there is a lot of wiggle room for what there is to do. Cook and author Tara Wigley had been to cookery school, read hundreds of cookbooks and developed recipes for over a decade. Yet she found the fewer the ingredients in a recipe, the more confusion there was about how best to make it. The result is HOW TO BUTTER TOAST, a collection of rhymes that will enlighten and entertain, reassure and ultimately liberate the culinarily confused. The rhymes provide reassuring - and memorable - answers to the culinary conundrums we often face: How long should I boil an egg? What's the best way to crush garlic? How do I make mayonnaise, a martini or indeed the perfect cup of tea? Tara's playful take on these food quandaries seems effortless but belies her knowledgeable and carefully researched approach to cooking. Ella assures Blake that she’s fine; partying hard is what it takes to make the cut . . . But success has never felt so much like drowning. With her future hanging in the balance and her past dragging her down, Blake must decide how far she’s willing to go to achieve her glittering dreams of success—and how much of herself she’s willing to lose in the process.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

The Daily Mess When It Feels Like Someone's Watching And Get Your Muscles To Talk To Each Other
Two stories. The first deals with the fear of people watching us. It's completely natural! The brain is always asking if we're safe. But how can we get less attention? As a 3rd degree in martial arts I've learned awareness is everything. Story two: Learning how to recommunicate with your bodies muscles. Where there are injuries you can't sit back and expect all things to properly heal. Your muscles are no longer talking to each other which leads to other injures in your body. Oh great! Nick Corasaniti's I Don't Want To Go Home The Oral History Of The Stone Pony Springsteen's Home
A captivating oral history of the iconic music venue the Stone Pony and of the rise, fall, and rebirth of Asbury Park, New Jersey-featuring interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt, Southside Johnny, members of the E Street Band and Asbury Jukes, the Ramones, the Jonas Brothers, Jack Antonoff, and other legendary musicians. In 1970, Asbury Park, New Jersey, was ripped apart by race riots that left the once-proud beach town an hour away from Manhattan smoldering, suffering and left for dead.Four years later, a few miles down the coast in Seaside Heights, two bouncers, Jack Roig and Butch Pielka, tired of the daily grind, dreamt of owning their own place. Under-prepared and minimally funded, the two bought the first bar they considered, in a city where no one wanted to be, without setting one foot in the place. They named it the Stone Pony, and turned it into a rock club that Bruce Springsteen would soon call home and a dying town would call its beating heart. But the bar had to fight to survive. Despite its success in launching and attracting rockers like Stevie Van Zandt, "Southside" Johnny Lyon, and Springsteen, the Stone Pony-like everything in Asbury Park for the past half century-could only weather the drags of a depressed city for so long. How did the Stone Pony beat the odds to survive? How did it become an international rock pilgrimage site, not just for fans of Springsteen, but for punk rockers, jam bands, pop, indie, alternative and many other musicians as well? And how did it continue to inspire and influence a hall-of-fame list of New Jersey and national rock stars? The story of the Stone Pony-thrillingly charted in this detailed oral history-is the chronicle of a proud and unique cultural mecca blooming in a down-but-not-yet-out tough town. As Nick Corasaniti reveals, the stories of Asbury Park and the Stone Pony are that of modern America itself-a place of battered hopes, big dreams, and dogged resilience.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Ben Dusing From Free Store At The Front Kherson Ukraine Episode Eight Meeting Kristina
The geography speaks for itself. The bad guys are just kilometers away, across the river. We are the only international (or locals) with a brick and mortar office downtown, for them to go for help. No assistance from govt unless elderly, and the assistance they get is shit. Office safe from “normal” shelling (tank fire, most mortars). Glide bombs and attack drones are new since Ukrainians landed on other side and have beachhead. Quietly, that is a total massacre over there — poorly kept secret here. can’t do much about the big stuff … if we get hit with a glide bomb we’re fucked. I like our chances. Monday Wednesday and Friday the FREE STORE AT THE FRONT is open at our office. Basic foods medicines hygiene and winter clothes. Mondays we run bread into insanely dangerous places by the Antonivky bridge, do other stuff like that. Off the radar. For city admin. Bill Eddy From Of The High Conflict Institute Releases Our New World Of Adult Bullying
When we think of bullies, most of us think of aggressive kids or teens who terrorize individuals they perceive as weaker. Yet, bullying isn’t relegated just to the schoolyard. On the contrary, adult bullies exist everywhere and run rampant in many families, workplaces, neighborhoods, political arenas, and organizations of all types and sizes. And in a media landscape where conflict, chaos, and fear reign supreme, we witness celebrities, politicians, and other public figures exhibiting some of the most egregious behavior. In Our New World of Adult Bullies: How to Spot Them, How to Stop Them, Bill Eddy — therapist, lawyer, mediator, and personality expert — reveals how adult bullies have infiltrated every aspect of our society and explains why we so often allow them to operate unchallenged. Whether they are feeding our primitive fears, manipulating our empathetic emotions, or intimidating us with their unrestrained personalities, adult bullies are highly effective at dominating others in nearly every arena of our lives. But, as Eddy demonstrates in his book, these seemingly indomitable traits don’t make a bully unstoppable. Drawing on forty years of experience helping people resist, defuse, and repel adult bullies, Eddy offers proven techniques to help us prevent bullies from taking over. Using a six-step approach that is effective in all circumstances, Eddy helps readers recognize the bully’s pattern, pull the plug on bad behavior, set limits, impose consequences, educate those around them, and stand with others who oppose bullying conduct. Offering invaluable insight into the behavior of adult bullies, their supporters, and our impulses, Our New World of Adult Bullies is an essential guide for those seeking to decrease bullying behavior and gain allies in their professional and personal lives.
