Shye's passion for collecting various rocks, crystals, and geodes (especially amethyst) has been a source of comfort and strength throughout her life. She even wears a Halite necklace daily to maintain balance and confidence. In 2010, Shye's life was profoundly impacted when her mother, Sheila, suffered a severe injury at work, causing her scoliosis to worsen and leading to multiple surgeries and extended hospital stays. During her mother's recovery, Shye was raised by her older siblings. Guided by them and dedicated mentors such as her choral teacher and music instructor, Shye refined her musical skills and built assurance. Shye's songwriting and singing became a vital source of relief for her and her mom, allowing them to bond and find emotional support in each other. Born and raised by a touring musician mother, Cameron Wright was destined for a music career. By training under her mother, Cameron became known as a local sensation by age 11. They performed at all the local venues and recorded a demo, which was later heard by Stevie Wonder and led to performing a duet with him at a concert. After high school, Cameron moved in with their grandparents in St. Louis and instantly felt reconnected to their roots. Cameron started writing songs there, which played an intricate part in developing their sound today. The youngest competitor, Jaukeem, is a mature 13-year-old from a small-town in Georgia. Going to church is his favorite thing, so much so that he even wakes up his mom to go. Everyone knows everyone in his small town, and Jaukeem has made a name for himself as "the little music man." As a child, Katie always had a love for music. She would sing around the house and learn her schoolwork by making up songs. Katie spent a lot of time at the beach and at her grandparents' house on the river.Growing up with three older brothers, she loved outdoor activities like fishing and shrimping with her family. Katie's earliest memories of fishing and shrimping were with her dad, whom she unfortunately lost when she was 9. Thankfully, her relationship with God, loving family and love for music got her through that hard time. After performing at an open mic at a local restaurant, Katie started to seriously pursue music. She then knew singing was her calling. Soon, she began singing all over the U.S. at restaurants, fairs, veteran events, festivals and Jacksonville's own River Taxi. Although Sydney is the only musical one in her family, she has always had their full support throughout her journey. It began with competing in local talent shows when she was 7 and by the time she was 10, she had already struck gold by winning first place in the Erie County Fair Talent Competition. She has since kept that momentum, singing the national anthem at a Buffalo Sabres game this year and multiple Buffalo Bisons games. She has also been a regular performer at a local music arts festival organized by Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls. Her dedicated mom has played a crucial role in Sydney's success, including scouting singing opportunities on social media to finding local competitions for Sydney to compete. Sydney recently won a TikTok challenge promoted by Broadway Evolved. Unsure if the competition was real and never dreaming it would lead to anything, Sydney was blown away when she won. Jan Dan is a stage name that was derived from the first part of his given name, Najee spelled backward, and the first letters of his last name, Daniels. Jan Dan's mom, Fundisha, is a singer and songwriter. She landed a record deal with Jermaine Dupri's company, So So Def, and moved Jan Dan and his siblings to Atlanta when he was just 10 years old. Besides his mom, his uncle, LaShawn, was a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer and one of Jan Dan's biggest inspirations. Unfortunately, LaShawn died in a tragic car accident in 2019, which left Jan devastated. Although music was something he loved, Jan Dan wasn't ready to pursue music full-time after high school. He went the safer route and enrolled in culinary school. Over the years he became more confident in his musical abilities and pushed fear aside. Remembering what his uncle told him before he passed, Jan Dan shifted his focus to music to build upon his family's legacy. He has been writing, recording and producing, sometimes even writing with his wife, Nicole. Born to a white Jewish mother and a Black father, Adam struggled with his bi-racial identity. When his parents split at 4 years old, his mother relocated from New York to Israel where they lived for the next several years. Eventually, they moved to England, where Adam finished school. Adam participated in everything he possibly could pertaining to music, yet he never felt like he knew who he was as an artist. That all changed when he was working at a market in England as a teen and heard the song "Just Friends" by Musiq Soulchild. He immediately resonated with the soul-R&B sound. Once Adam discovered "Dirty Soul," he began to take interest in the greats such as Al Green and Sam Cooke, reconnecting with his Black roots. Jake has been raising kids alongside his wife, Ashleigh, since he was 19. He met Ashleigh when he was just 18, and it was love at first sight after a mutual friend introduced them. Jake's dad introduced him to Elvis when he was 6, and he soon fell in love with country music. Growing up, Jake often performed at talent shows with the guitar his dad gave him when he was 9. Austyns is a devoted "girl dad" with four beautiful daughters. While he's not in an ongoing relationship with the mother of his daughters, they co-parent well and always ensure that the happiness of their daughters comes first. Austyns strives for greatness in everything he does to make his daughters and late father proud. Raised by two loving parents, he shared a home with two brothers and one half-brother growing up. Austyns was devastated when his father was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021 and eventually lost his battle in 2023. Music has been Austyns' key to processing his emotions, dating back to when he was a child. Austyns has been making music since he was 7 and had his first solo performance at 9. Christina grew up in a household always filled with music. From the moment she could speak, she was singing. Christina's mom fondly remembers her running up on stage at church to grab the mic. Christina has always maintained a positive outlook despite starting her life amidst tragedy. Her teen father was tragically killed in a car crash just before Christina was born, and when she was only 1, her mother also lost her life in a fatal car accident. Christina was raised by her mother's parents, whom she calls "mom and dad," making her siblings her uncles. Since Christina was so young when she lost her parents, she has no memory of them and couldn't have asked for better parents to raise her. Although processing the grief of losing her parents before she knew them has been challenging, expressing her feelings through music has helped her find solace. Now, Christina spends two to three days a week honing her skills by gigging at local bars in her small town with her older brother, Daniel.
