Architecture Social on Lisa Rayne's "Architecture in the Den" Podcast
Check out the original recording on Pride Road's channel here: https://youtu.be/1UR8FO1XWo8Lisa Raynes Pride Road Founder & CEO and Stephen Drew, recruiter & brains behind Architecture Social chat about taking your next career stepThe second in a series of topics looking at how the pandemic has affected architects and the architecture profession. This time host Lisa Raynes and her guest Stephen Drew, recruiter extraordinaire, will be chatting about the opportunities they see for architects in the pandemic economy. The world has changed, and many architects are looking for, or having to look for something different – during this podcast you can take some time to think through your options. Hear about how Pride Road quickly pivoted their services online and continued almost without interruption to provide design options for their clients. And about Architecture Social, Stephen’s lockdown project that is making waves among architects. Pride Road Franchise grew out of Founder Lisa Raynes’ refusal to accept that there was only one way for a woman to have an architecture career and a family life. She built her practice in the domestic sector, and then invested to turn her business into one that other ambitious architects wanting work/life balance can buy into. She’s had a seat on the RIBA Council (2015-18), been Chair of Women in Property NW and founded Manchester Curious, an urban architecture outreach festival. Lisa is passionate about sharing her innovations in practising architecture – she wants all architects to understand the value of having a franchise business. 📐 The Architecture Social is an online platform packed with content to help you find new jobs, stand out from the crowd and take your career in Architecture to the next level💻 Find out more at https://www.architecturesocial.com

A List of Demands to RIBA from the Future Architects Front.
Last Friday I sat down with Charlie Edmonds, pioneer of the Future Architect Front, a campaign to end the exploitation of Future Architects. We discuss the following list of demands in an open, frank and explicit chat: End unpaid overtime in all RIBA chartered practices.Provide effective oversight on the Architectural Assistant role.Greater transparency in the RIBA’s budget and spending decisions.Establish a more representative governing body.Accountability for exploitative work environments.Do you agree that RIBA needs to take accountability or that the problem in Architecture Culture is bigger than RIBA itself? Either way, can we ignore these problems such as unpaid overtime any longer? Now more than ever, get involved in the debate. Share your thoughts with the trailblazers at the Future Architects Front on Instagram using @fa.frontYou can read the open letter and can also find the petition here: https://linktr.ee/future_architects_front. 📐 The Architecture Social is an online platform packed with content to help you find new jobs, stand out from the crowd and take your career in Architecture to the next level💻 Find out more at https://www.architecturesocial.com

A frank chat with Donia Khafaga, discussing the realities of being an International Student and VISA sponsored job seeker within the UK Architecture Job Market
Join me and Donia Khafaga to discuss the awkward and interesting topic of trying to find work in the UK as an Architectural Professional with VISA requirements.Often an uphill battle, Donia shows us an insight into how it feels as a job seeker with Tier 5 requirements to work in the UK. We discuss how hard it is to find a job within architecture realistically, a sense of humor, and humility. On a personal note, I am proud to publish this as sometimes within recruitment it feels that discussing the realities of VISA requirements is a TABOO subject.I know how many talented Architects have fought to work within the UK, and we know that RIBA has already acknowledged their stance that we need talent in the UK from international architects but the reality of job seeking for non-EU architects within the UK is brutally tough.Join me and Donia for a frank, light-hearted chat on a difficult topic 📐 The Architecture Social is an online platform packed with content to help you find new jobs, stand out from the crowd and take your career in Architecture to the next level💻 Find out more at https://www.architecturesocial.com
