Today's guest, Emma Murphy, was on my radar for a while. Simply because her work and the help she has offered to the world for decades, are so much needed! This episode was an eye-opening into a world I know very little about – the world of emotional eating. Something nobody is ever proud of, wants to talk about or does in front of others. However, it’s a huge issue that is amplified by the food, diet, and weight loss industry – which literally normalized disordered eating for millions and millions of people. Diet is very often the starting point for a lifetime of disordered eating for unsuspected well-meaning people, healthy conscious people. Emma is a former airline stewardess turned psychotherapist who specializes in disordered eating. Not only has she developed an exceptionally successful practice in Ireland for almost 30 years, but she now trains qualified health professionals so they can incorporate her effective protocol and tools in the area of emotional eating and binge eating disorders into their practice. As a founder and CEO of Eating Freely, her mission is to ensure that anyone, anywhere, regardless of means can access specialist support to resolve emotional or binge eating. Which is never about food, but about feelings, and it is very often linked to trauma.
