Mentorship and Personal Growth
Hello, listeners, and welcome back to another episode of "Leadership Lessons from Ted Lasso." Today, we're diving deep into the theme of mentorship and personal growth in the context of Ted Lasso's leadership style. In the previous episodes of our series, we've explored how Ted Lasso, despite his unconventional approach to coaching, has managed to transform a struggling soccer team and positively impact the lives of his players. Today, we're going to focus on how Ted serves as a mentor, not only helping his team members develop their skills but also encouraging personal growth and self-discovery.Our first teaching point is all about leading with empathy. Ted Lasso shows us that to be an effective mentor, you need to truly understand the people you're guiding. He takes the time to get to know each player on a personal level, understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates them. Ted's empathy allows him to connect with his team on a deeper level, fostering trust and respect.Another crucial lesson we learn from Ted is the importance of encouraging self-reflection. Ted doesn't just give orders; he asks questions that prompt his players to think about their actions and decisions. By encouraging self-reflection, Ted helps his team members grow not only as athletes but as individuals.Ted Lasso also excels in providing constructive feedback. He doesn't shy away from addressing mistakes, but he does so in a way that is supportive and constructive. This approach helps his players learn and improve without feeling demoralized. Our fourth teaching point is all about fostering a growth mindset. Ted Lasso believes in the power of a positive attitude and resilience. He teaches his team that failure is a part of the journey and that it's an opportunity to learn and grow. This mindset shift not only benefits the team on the field but also in their personal lives.Ted Lasso leads by example. He doesn't just talk the talk; he walks the walk. He demonstrates the values and behaviors he expects from his team members. This authenticity is a powerful motivator, inspiring his players to give their best.Lastly, Ted Lasso celebrates individuality. He recognizes that each player is unique, and he encourages them to embrace their individual strengths and quirks. By doing so, he creates an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Now that we've covered these essential teaching points, let's move on to an activity that will help you apply these lessons to your own leadership journey.Activity: Self-Reflective Leadership JournalGet yourself a notebook or open a digital document.Write down the names of the people you lead or mentor, whether in a professional or personal capacity. For each person, jot down their strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates them. Were there moments where you could have provided more constructive feedback or encouraged self-reflection?Consider your own leadership style. Are there areas where you can improve in leading with empathy, fostering a growth mindset, or celebrating individuality? Finally, set a goal for yourself based on what you've learned from Ted Lasso's mentorship style. Trust and Transparency
Trust and Transparency
Welcome back to another episode of "Leading with Ted," the podcast where we explore the leadership wisdom of the one and only Ted Lasso. I'm your host, [Your Name], and today, we're diving deep into the world of trust and transparency. We'll uncover how Ted Lasso builds trust through open communication, honesty, and transparency, and how this foundation plays a pivotal role in creating a strong and united team. So grab your biscuits, folks, and let's get started! To kick things off, let's talk about our first teaching point:Teaching Point 1: Be Vulnerable and RelatableTed Lasso is a master at being vulnerable and relatable. He doesn't pretend to have all the answers, and he's not afraid to admit when he's uncertain. This vulnerability makes him more relatable to his team, and it shows that he's human, just like everyone else. When leaders are vulnerable, it opens the door for trust to flourish. One memorable scene that illustrates this is when Ted admits he doesn't know the rules of soccer (or football, as they call it in the UK). By embracing his ignorance and seeking help, he endears himself to the team and the audience. This vulnerability is a powerful tool for leaders looking to build trust. Now, let's move on to our second teaching point:Teaching Point 2: Honest and Direct CommunicationTed Lasso is a beacon of honesty and direct communication. He doesn't sugarcoat things or hide behind corporate jargon. He speaks from the heart and tells it like it is. This straightforward approach not only fosters trust but also ensures that everyone is on the same page.Remember the "Ted Talk" scene when he gathers the team and tells them that they're not playing like a team? His honesty cuts through any denial or confusion, laying the foundation for improvement. As leaders, we should strive to communicate openly and honestly with our teams to build trust and create clarity.Next up, our third teaching point:Teaching Point 3: Lead by ExampleTed Lasso leads by example, and he expects the same from his team. Whether it's showing up early, working hard, or demonstrating unwavering positivity, Ted sets the bar high for himself, which inspires his team to do the same. One memorable example is his insistence on not drinking alcohol in front of his team. He understands the importance of being a role model and maintaining a professional image. Leaders who lead by example build trust because they show that they're committed to the same standards they expect from others. Now, let's move on to our fourth teaching point:Teaching Point 4: Active Listening and EmpathyTed Lasso is a great listener. He doesn't just hear his team members; he listens actively and empathizes with their concerns. He understands that everyone has their struggles and insecurities, and he's there to support them.In the episode where he helps Jamie Tartt deal with his father issues, Ted shows genuine empathy and compassion. He doesn't judge; he just listens and provides a safe space for Jamie to open up. Leaders who practice active listening and empathy build trust because they create an environment where team members feel valued and understood. Our fifth teaching point is:Teaching Point 5: Transparency in Decision-MakingTransparency is a cornerstone of trust-building, and Ted Lasso exemplifies this. He involves his team in the decision-making process, whether it's choosing the team captain or discussing tactics. He values their input and keeps them informed.A prime example is when he includes the players in selecting the team captain, giving them a sense of ownership and responsibility. When leaders involve their teams in decisions and share the rationale behind those decisions, it fosters trust and a sense of belonging. Finally, our last teaching point:Teaching Point 6: Consistency and IntegrityTed Lasso is consistent in his values and principles. He doesn't waver in the face of challenges or adversity. This consistency and unwavering integrity build trust over time because team members know what to expect from their leader.Even when faced with difficulties, like Nate's betrayal, Ted remains true to his principles and forgives. Leaders who maintain their integrity and stay consistent in their actions earn the trust and respect of their teams.Well, there you have it, folks, our exploration of trust and transparency through the lens of Ted Lasso. To recap, our six teaching points are:Be Vulnerable and Relatable.Honest and Direct Communication.Lead by Example.Active Listening and Empathy.Transparency in Decision-Making.Consistency and Integrity.Ted Lasso reminds us that building trust is a journey, not a destination, and it starts with being genuine, honest, and transparent in our leadership. So, as we wrap up this episode, remember to embrace these lessons and lead with the heart, just like Ted.Thank you for joining us on "Leading with Ted." The lesson here is to be true to yourself and create an environment where your team feels comfortable doing the same.Ted's humility and willingness to learn form our second teaching point. He readily admits when he's unsure or doesn't have all the answers. This vulnerability not only humanizes him but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Leaders who can admit their mistakes and seek growth inspire their team to do the same.Next up, let's delve into Ted's remarkable empathy. Lessons from Ted Lasso: Emotional Intelligence
Lessons from Ted Lasso: Emotional Intelligence
For those just tuning in, Emotional Intelligence, or EQ, refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our emotions and those of others. Ted Lasso's exceptional EQ has been a driving force behind his success as a leader. Let's dive right in and explore four key teaching points on how Ted's emotional intelligence has enabled him to navigate difficult situations and connect with his team on a deeper level.[Teaching Point 1: Empathy - Connecting with Players]One of the cornerstones of emotional intelligence is empathy, the capacity to put oneself in another's shoes and understand their feelings and perspectives. Ted Lasso's empathy shines through in various instances, and it plays a pivotal role in connecting with his players. Take the example when Roy Kent, the seasoned footballer, struggled with feeling undervalued after being benched.Ted's approach is a masterclass in empathy. Instead of brushing off Roy's concerns, he takes the time to have a one-on-one conversation. Ted actively listens, acknowledging Roy's feelings of frustration and self-doubt. By doing so, he creates a safe space for Roy to express himself openly. This empathetic act not only boosts Roy's confidence but also strengthens the trust between player and coach.[Teaching Point 2: Emotional Regulation - Turning Conflict into Growth]Emotional intelligence is not just about understanding emotions but also about managing them effectively. We see this in action when Ted faces a heated disagreement with Jamie Tartt, the talented yet arrogant young player. Instead of reacting impulsively, Ted employs emotional regulation to turn the conflict into an opportunity for growth.Ted recognizes that Jamie's arrogance masks deeper insecurities. Rather than criticizing him, Ted finds a clever way to make Jamie realize his impact on the team. By using humor and genuine concern, Ted breaks down Jamie's defensive walls and helps him embrace a more humble and team-oriented mindset. This showcases Ted's ability to steer emotionally charged situations toward positive outcomes.[Teaching Point 3: Social Awareness - Creating a Supportive Environment]Another aspect of emotional intelligence is social awareness, the skill of understanding the emotions and dynamics within a group. Ted's social awareness is evident in how he fosters a supportive and inclusive environment for his team. In one instance, when Sam Obisanya faces racial discrimination, Ted takes a stand to address the issue head-on.Ted demonstrates his social awareness by not only supporting Sam but also involving the entire team in the conversation. He encourages open dialogue, allowing the players to share their perspectives and emotions on the matter. By doing so, Ted not only strengthens the team's bond but also makes it clear that everyone's well-being is essential to him as a leader.[Teaching Point 4 - Emotional Intelligence in Decision-Making]Ted Lasso's emotional intelligence significantly influences his decision-making process. Instead of making choices based solely on logic or impulse, Ted takes the time to consider how his decisions will impact the emotions and well-being of those involved.By involving his team and considering their feelings, Ted fosters a sense of ownership and inclusivity, making them feel like valued contributors to the team's success. This approach not only enhances trust but also leads to more thoughtful and sustainable outcomes.[Teaching Point 5 - Managing Emotions in High-Stress Situations]A leader's ability to manage emotions in high-stress situations is crucial for maintaining a positive team environment. Ted Lasso's composure during challenging times is truly commendable. Let's take a look at a scene from Season 2 where Ted's emotional intelligence shines brightly. An example from the show is an interaction between Ted and one of the star players, Jamie Tartt, when the team is facing a tough loss and tempers are running high:Jamie Tartt: (Frustrated) This is rubbish! Nothing's going right!Ted Lasso: (Calmly) Hey, Jamie, I understand that you're upset right now, and that's okay. But what you do next is what really matters. You can let this frustration consume you, or you can use it as fuel to get back out there and give it your all in the next game.Ted's ability to remain composed in the face of adversity not only sets an excellent example for his players but also helps them navigate their own emotions effectively. He turns difficult situations into opportunities for growth and channels the emotions into positive actions.[Teaching Point 6: Self-awareness - Embracing Vulnerability]Last but not least, emotional intelligence starts with self-awareness, understanding one's emotions, strengths, and limitations. Ted's self-awareness is evident when he faces personal challenges, particularly with his divorce and being far from his son.Instead of bottling up his emotions, Ted openly shares his struggles with the team. This vulnerability creates a powerful connection with his players, who realize that their coach, too, is human and has his ups and downs. By acknowledging his feelings and seeking support, Ted sets a positive example for his team, encouraging them to do the same when facing difficulties. And there you have it, folks! Ted Lasso's emotional intelligence has been the driving force behind his exceptional leadership. Through empathy, emotional regulation, social awareness, and self-awareness, he navigates difficult situations with grace, connects with his team members on a deeper level, and fosters a positive and supportive environment.Join us next time for more leadership insights from the one and only, Ted Lasso. Until then, remember the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, and as Ted would say, "Be a goldfish" – that is, have a short memory for the negatives, and always stay positive. Unveiling the Power of Knowledge and Practice
Unveiling the Power of Knowledge and Practice
**Enhancing Skills**According to the legendary sales guru Brian Tracy, "Approach each customer with the idea of helping him or her solve a problem or achieve a goal, not of selling a product or service." It encapsulates the essence of sales today: solution-oriented selling rather than product-oriented selling. Training programs empower salespeople to gain this perspective, which enhances their sales skills to meet the evolving needs of customers effectively.A study by the Sales Management Association revealed that 50% of salespeople who complete high-quality training can improve their closing rate. Hence, investing in sales training equips your team with the requisite skills, which subsequently boosts sales performance.**Building Confidence**Zig Ziglar, another famous salesperson and motivational speaker, once said, "Timid salesmen have skinny kids." This is a humorous way to state a profound truth: confidence in selling is critical. Sales training programs boost self-confidence, enabling salespeople to face potential clients more assertively and negotiate deals more effectively.A research study conducted by the Sales Readiness Group confirmed that well-trained salespeople are 50% more likely to meet or exceed their sales quotas than untrained peers.**Developing Professionalism**Jordan Belfort, the 'Wolf of Wall Street', emphasized, "The only thing standing between you and your goal is the story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it." Sales training programs assist in shedding these self-limiting beliefs, fostering professionalism.IBM’s Smarter Workforce study showed that employees in the top 25% of business units who received extensive training had a 23% higher income than those in the bottom 25% with less training.**Improving Communication**As Jill Konrath, a sales strategist, noted, "Your biggest competitor is the status quo. Your prospects are afraid of change and will delay making a decision as long as they can." Sales training helps salespeople effectively communicate value propositions and overcome client inertia, thus triggering a change.According to a report by the American Society for Training and Development, companies that offer comprehensive training enjoy a 218% higher income per employee than those without formalized training.**Creating Resilience**Tom Hopkins, a sales training pioneer, once asserted, "I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying." Sales training cultivates resilience and adaptability, critical traits for enduring the inevitable ups and downs of the sales profession.Data from the National Sales Executive Association indicates that 80% of sales require five follow-up calls after a meeting. Without the resilience to persist in the face of rejection, many sales opportunities could be missed. In conclusion, sales training is an essential investment in your business. It empowers your sales force with the skills, confidence, professionalism, communication ability, and resilience necessary to close deals and drive your company's growth. The measurable difference in income between trained and untrained salespeople further underscores the paramount importance of comprehensive sales training. We aim to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. Let's dive right in!Teaching Point 1: Lead by Example Ted Lasso is known for leading by example and setting the tone for a supportive culture within the team. He demonstrates this through his actions, words, and attitude. One example of this is when he goes out of his way to learn about his players' personal lives and show genuine interest and concern. By doing so, he creates an atmosphere of trust and openness that allows his team members to feel comfortable and supported.Teaching Point 2: Encourage Collaboration Ted believes in the power of collaboration and encourages his team to work together towards a common goal. He fosters an environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their ideas, opinions, and concerns without fear of judgment. This approach promotes teamwork and ensures that everyone's voices are heard. An example of this can be seen when Ted holds team meetings, where each member is encouraged to contribute and participate actively.Teaching Point 3: Embrace Diversity and Inclusion Inclusivity is a cornerstone of Ted's leadership style. He recognizes the value of diversity within the team and actively promotes an inclusive environment. Ted encourages his players to appreciate each other's differences, highlighting the strengths that come from diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Ted's approach teaches us that a supportive culture is built upon acceptance, understanding, and appreciation of each other's unique qualities.Teaching Point 4: Celebrate Success and Learn from Failure Ted Lasso understands the importance of celebrating success and using failures as learning opportunities. He makes it a point to acknowledge and celebrate the team's achievements, both big and small. By doing so, he reinforces a positive culture that recognizes and appreciates individual and collective accomplishments. Additionally, Ted helps his team embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth and improvement. He encourages his players to learn from their mistakes, offering support and guidance along the way.Homework Assignment: For this week's homework assignment, I want you to reflect on your own leadership or team experiences and identify one area where you can improve in building a more supportive culture. Consider how you can implement the four teaching points we discussed today: leading by example, encouraging collaboration, embracing diversity and inclusion, and celebrating success while learning from failure. Write a short reflection paper outlining your observations and proposed actions. We'll discuss these reflections and share insights in our next session. Conclusion: Building a supportive culture is essential for creating a cohesive and successful team. Ted Lasso's leadership provides us with valuable lessons on fostering camaraderie, support, and inclusivity. Remember to lead by example, encourage collaboration, embrace diversity and inclusion, and celebrate success while learning from failure. Apply these principles in your own life and leadership roles to create a positive and supportive environment. I look forward to our next session, where we'll explore another aspect of leadership through the lens of Ted Lasso. Keep up the great work! Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. Lessons from Ted: Empathy in Leadership
Lessons from Ted: Empathy in Leadership
Empathy is the ability to understand and connect with others on a deep, emotional level. It involves putting yourself in someone else's shoes, acknowledging their feelings, and showing genuine concern for their well-being. Empathy is an essential quality for leaders to possess. Empathy is a key quality that sets great leaders apart, and Ted Lasso is a shining example of this.Ted Lasso, our beloved fictional football coach, exemplifies empathy throughout the series. Despite being an American unfamiliar with British culture, Ted takes the time to learn about his team members, their backgrounds, and their unique challenges. He doesn't just see them as players; he sees them as individuals with hopes, dreams, and struggles.Ted's ability to understand and connect with each team member on a personal level demonstrates the importance of empathy in building strong relationships. As the coach of AFC Richmond, Ted takes the time to get to know each player beyond their athletic abilities. He recognizes that his team members are individuals with unique backgrounds, experiences, and challenges. When Ted first arrived in England, he made an effort to learn about the sport of soccer and his players. He asked thoughtful questions, listened attentively, and created an environment where his team members felt valued and understood. By doing so, he built trust and fostered a sense of camaraderie within the team. This level of empathy allows Ted to connect with each team member on a personal level. He actively listens to their concerns, acknowledges their emotions, and offers support when they need it most. Ted understands that every individual is motivated by different factors, and by recognizing their needs, he can tailor his approach to maximize their potential. One notable example of Ted's empathy in action is his relationship with Roy Kent, the team's seasoned veteran. Roy is initially skeptical of Ted's coaching methods, but Ted doesn't give up on him. Instead, he takes the time to understand Roy's frustrations, his motivations, and what drives him as a player. Roy initially resents Ted's optimistic and relentlessly positive attitude. However, Ted doesn't give up on building a connection with Roy. He takes the time to understand Roy's fear of losing his edge and being replaced. Through empathy, Ted shows Roy that vulnerability and change can coexist with strength and resilience.Through their conversations, Ted realizes that Roy's tough exterior is a defense mechanism to mask his vulnerabilities. Ted doesn't judge or criticize Roy for this; instead, he offers support and guidance, helping Roy become a better version of himself both on and off the field. This demonstrates Ted's ability to connect with Roy on a deep level, seeing beyond the surface and recognizing his needs as a human being.By demonstrating empathy, Ted fosters a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration within the team. He creates an environment where team members feel safe, valued, and understood where team members feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns openly. This leads to enhanced collaboration, increased morale, and improved performance. Empathetic leaders are also better equipped to address conflicts, provide effective feedback, and offer meaningful support to their team members. So, what can we learn from Ted Lasso's empathetic leadership style? Here are three key takeaways:First, make an effort to understand your team members on a personal level. Take the time to learn about their backgrounds, interests, and challenges. This knowledge will help you connect with them and demonstrate that you genuinely care about their well-being.Second, actively listen and acknowledge the emotions and concerns of your team members. Show empathy by validating their feelings and offering support when needed. Remember, empathy is not about providing immediate solutions but creating an environment where individuals feel heard and understood. Finally, tailor your leadership approach to meet the unique needs of each team member. Recognize that different individuals are motivated by different factors. By adapting your leadership style, you can help each team member thrive and reach their full potential. In conclusion, Ted Lasso's ability to understand and connect with each team member on a personal level showcases the importance of empathy in building strong relationships. In taking the time to understand and connect with each team member on a personal level, Ted fosters a sense of belonging and creates an environment where his players can thrive. By embracing empathy as a leader, you can create a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals feel valued, heard, and inspired to give their best. As leaders, let's remember the power of empathy and strive to cultivate this vital trait within ourselves. We aim to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. Lessons from Ted: The Power of Positivity
Lessons from Ted: The Power of Positivity
First and foremost, Ted demonstrates the power of genuine belief in others. As a leader, it's crucial to have faith in your team members' abilities, even when they doubt themselves. Ted doesn't let negative opinions or past failures define his players. Instead, he sees their potential and focuses on nurturing their strengths. He empowers them to believe in themselves, fostering an environment where they can thrive.Secondly, Ted exemplifies the importance of fostering a positive team culture. He creates an atmosphere where everyone feels valued, respected, and appreciated. Ted understands that a positive work environment encourages collaboration, boosts morale, and ultimately leads to higher productivity. So, as leaders, let's make a conscious effort to cultivate positivity in our teams, through genuine recognition, open communication, and creating a safe space for ideas to flourish.Another key lesson from Ted Lasso is the power of reframing challenges as opportunities. In the face of adversity, Ted maintains a steadfast positive outlook. He embraces challenges, seeing them as chances for growth and learning. By reframing setbacks, Ted instills resilience and optimism within his team. As leaders, we can do the same. When confronted with obstacles, let's focus on the possibilities they present, encourage creative problem-solving, and inspire our teams to rise above any challenge. On my white board I have written: To turn problems in into possibilities, ask: What is the opportunity here?Additionally, Ted embodies the idea of leading by example. He consistently displays a positive attitude, even in the most difficult situations. Ted's positivity is contagious, spreading throughout the team and influencing their mindset. As leaders, we must remember that our attitude and energy directly impact those around us. By modeling positivity, we create a ripple effect, motivating our teams to adopt the same mindset and approach.Lastly, Ted Lasso reminds us of the power of gratitude and appreciation. He regularly acknowledges the efforts and contributions of his team members. Ted understands that a simple "thank you" can go a long way in boosting morale and fostering a sense of belonging. So, let's make it a point to express our appreciation to our team members regularly. By recognizing their hard work and dedication, we inspire loyalty, commitment, and a shared sense of purpose. In conclusion, Ted Lasso teaches us that the power of positivity can be a “game-changer” in leadership. By genuinely believing in others, fostering a positive team culture, reframing challenges as opportunities, leading by example, and expressing gratitude, we can create a motivating and empowering environment for our teams. We aim to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. BARS Shift #2
BARS Shift #2
Your current belief system has been created based on the past. This is what you have experienced and what you have been told is true. The fact is, most, if not all of this is false or misguided. Your subconscious mind is the home for your belief system and for most people it is built on fear, scarcity, and negativity. If this is you, it isn't your fault. It is also a fact that you don't need to stay in this state as you have the power to remove the current BS and replace it with positivity, abundance, wealth, and happiness. We invite you to join our Facebook group, Raise Your  Bars  - Personal Growth Solutions, and if you are ready to reprogram your current belief systems, click here to watch our free webinar where we introduce the 5-Shifts. BARS Shift #1
BARS Shift #1
What does this mean exactly? This week we discuss it because this is the foundation for you being able to raise your bars and start living the life you choose. The important word in that last sentence is "Choose". You are responsible for your destiny and you will either live it by default or by design. When you allow others to influence the decisions you make, or worse make them for you, you are living by default because you are not in control. For you to make the switch and live your life by design, you NEED to step up and take responsibility. Make no mistake, your current circumstances are a direct result of the decisions you have made in the past, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Now is the time to make the switch, apply Shift #1 to your life, and Raise Your BARS so that you can live the life that you deserve with freedom and happiness - after all, that is what you desire, right? We invite you to join our Facebook group, Raise Your  Bars  - Personal Growth Solutions, and if you are ready to reprogram your current belief systems, click here to watch our free webinar where we introduce the 5-Shifts. Learning From Failure
Learning From Failure
BARS stands for: Behaviors + Actions = Results & Success.Your results are a direct correlation to the behaviors and actions that you carry out every day. Therefore, if you want to change your results, you need to regularly evaluate the behaviors and actions then correct what is not working. It isn't the risk that was not worth taking, it is the way you carried out the task. Take a look at yourself, be honest and take responsibility for the results. Once you have done this you can evaluate what happened, adjust, then go again. Test, evaluate, learn, adjust, and go again! We encourage you to follow our Raise Your BARS Facebook page where we share more tips and tricks on how you can start to live your life by design, rather than by default. Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. BARS Live Podcast
BARS Live Podcast
Start by asking yourself this: What do I want in my life?Once you identify this, you need to get  crystal clear on exactly what it means and more importantly, what will it feel like to be living that life. Really dig into the emotions and feelings then imagine you have this life now.Once you do this you will be reprogramming your subconscious mind to believing that this is your current reality.Do not focus on the results, instead live with the emotions and raise your vibration frequency so that you feel happiness, joy, and abundance every day.It sounds simple, but don't mistake that for thinking it is easy, because it takes persistence and belief so that you create a burning desire to live into.Let us know how you do with this and comment on our Raise Your BARS Facebook page Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. The fact is, Gen Z is the fasting growing employee base so learning how to attract and retain the top talent from this sector will set your business up for success. The expectations, demands and requirements are not what they were even six months ago. A new study of 13,488 people across 15 countries by communications company BCW identified what’s most important to people in their work experience.52% of respondents rated job security, especially at a financially stable company, as most important50% said they wanted a safe and comfortable workplace49% wanted a competitive base salary and adequate time off 48% said workplace culture was most importantIn this survey, Gen Z reports culture and leadership are more important than salary. Across all generations, employees want leaders to be visible, fair, honest and effective.Overall, leadership comes in ninth for respondents. But this too is nuanced. Gen Z ranks leadership as sixth in importance.Similarly, open and honest communication by leaders is ranked fifth in importance, but for Gen Z it comes in as the second most important attribute of the work experience.  Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. Self-Discipline
Self-Discipline
Self discipline moves you from good intentions to good actions. Many people say they know what they want to do, but less actually do something about it. Which camp do you fall into?I have often talked about the importance of identifying your "why", your purpose in life, and then using that as a barometer for your decision making. When you are truly invested in your goal, you will find self-discipline is easier. If you are not, you will be easily distracted and then wonder why you didn't get the desired result.Your task today, is to identify something that you want to do, then decide what actions you need to take in order to achieve it. Lastly, take action and schedule the tasks so that you become more disciplined and get the results you are aiming for. Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. We believe that  the key to success is to go back to the beginning and focus on creating the right Behaviors that  will lead to intentional Actions which, in turn will produce better Results and sustained Success. Sounds simple, doesn't it? The truth is, it is simple but that doesn't mean it is easy. Control the Controllable and Let Everything Else Go!
Control the Controllable and Let Everything Else Go!
Far too many people say that they suffer from stress, which leads me to ask: what is stress?Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body's reaction to a challenge or demand. Stress can be positive, although when most people think of stress, it is in a negative way.     My belief is that most instances of stress are over things that are out of your control so what difference does stressing about the situation make? The answer, absolutely none what so ever! This is why I say, control the controllable and let everything else go. It sounds simple, doesn’t it, so how do you actually do it?Here are a few things that you can do to help:Expose yourself to good input: Be aware of what you watch, read, and listen to. Expose yourself to good thinkers: Jim Rohn says that we become the average of the 5 people we associate with the most, so choose these people carefully.Choose to think good thoughts: Good thinking is a discipline and it is easy to fall into the blame game instead of putting yourself in a place to shape, stretch, and look forward.Act on your good thoughts: You have probably heard people say that knowledge is power but that is only the start. What makes knowledge powerful is the intentional application of what you learn.Repeat the process: To form a habit you need to repeat an action consistently until it becomes a natural process.Another important component of mastering the skill of controlling the controllable is one of my favorite A words: Attitude.Your attitude is a choice. You can choose to make your day great by adopting a good attitude, or you can make it miserable by adopting a bad attitude, the choice is yours. When you choose to control the controllable and let everything else go, you are choosing to adopt a great attitude. For every negative there is at least one positive, and your task is to seek those positives in every situation. You do this by focusing on what you have and what you can do, rather than dragging yourself down by concentrating on what you don’t have and what you don’t want.Again, this is simple, but it isn’t easy. You only have to turn on the news to see this. They rarely talk about things in a positive way. Even if something is going well the media ends to find a way of making you think that it is bad. I always like to leave you with a challenge and this week is no different. Think about what has happened to you over the last few days. Choose one event and write down how you reacted to it. How did it make you feel? What was your emotion, positive or negative? What did you do as a result? Did you complain and feel sorry for yourself? What would you do differently now?Take this new knowledge and intentionally apply it to your attitude this week. I promise that when you learn to master this, you will find good things come to you.  Our aim is to help individuals and organizations to raise their bars and be on a journey of continuous improvement. Therefore it is important that you know your own values and align yourself with a company that shares those and has a culture that you can get behind. Are you ready to Raise Your BARS and be the person you want to become? We want you to become the best version of yourself and to do that you have to break away from the limiting beliefs that other people impose on you and step into your greater self. Significance
Significance
If you are successful, are you automatically leading a life of significance?John Maxwell says that "One is too small a number for significance" and he is right. If it is all about you, or you are doing something alone, you may find short term success but you won't live a life of significance as you will soon be forgotten. If you enjoy what you hear, please share the episode with other people.
