It's true though, you know, just cause you're bad, it does feel good. No, it's like a lot of good things happen. So my daughter's 11th birthday today. That's most important. That was a good one.So she had a, this was the big year.We got her a cell phone.
Already?Got her a cell phone. Yeah.I, I was, I was very hesitant.I didn't want to do it, but apparently like half her class already has a cell phone.Oh, falling into peer pressure.
Well, at this point it was like, we're running out of things to get her.Like, I don't know, like she doesn't really want like cute artsy things. She doesn't want toys. She just wants expensive electronics and like a violin.
But we're like, I'm not buying a violin for you to just quit playing here in a month. So I'd rather or at least get a cell phone that you're gonna use. That's better for a brain than a cell phone.I tend to agree with that.
Just make sure TikTok's not on there, all the socials.Yeah, I told her, I was just like, no Snapchat, you're not there yet.
I mean, Lauren, my wife, laid down some rules and she was like, we get to look at your phone whenever we ask, you can't hide it from us, you must answer our phone calls every single time.I was like, dang, Lauren, did you rehearse this or something?
We got our kids the gizmo watches which is just like they can only call or text and you can only program like Like you can program as many numbers as you want But you like I have control over who's in it or who's not in it like so And there's no apps or anything, but it's a way like if you drop her off at dance practice So it's sophisticated walkie-talkie is what you have pretty much.
Yeah, I wish they still had nextels I I grew up on those.I had those in high school.I loved the Nextel.Me and my friends got them because they didn't take up any of your minutes, and we were just two-way each other.
Back when we had to worry about minutes. That's right.Oh, geez. But yeah, we did that.I went to Costco.I'm telling you what. Costco for AT&T service. It's it's great. We add it easy We added a new line and they gave us $100 Costco gift card.
Oh, well, it was $45.They didn't they didn't upsell you they didn't do anything because we already had the phone it was my wife's like old iPhone 14 Pro and We're like, well, she's gonna ask for an updated Probably probably yeah for Christmas.
I told you when I got my iPhone My new 16, I went to Costco, and I had a 12 Pro.They gave me $1,000 back on it.Oh, wow.And I was like, well, I might as well just upgrade to the 512 gig because I'm always out of space.Yeah.
And my wife is always like, how are you running out of space?I was like, because I take so much video.Like, that's what earns it.You don't have iCloud storage?I don't pay for the iCloud.
It's because I have our own, we have a Synology at home that has like 36 terabytes worth of storage at home. And so I back up everything to that.Does it automatically go there? No, I do it when I'm sitting there.
That's why I have the iCloud, because it automatically uploads them.I could have it do it automatically.I just don't do it, because I don't need to save every dumb picture I take.I'll save the important ones.
Plus, I'm also very anal about file management. And so I want them to go into folders that are date marked that also say, like, the occasion. So it's like, oh, pursuit blues.I need some help with folder management.
Everything's just in my downloads folder. Yeah, it's either that or my wife will be like, oh yeah, we took this picture. It was back in like August of 2022.I was like, how do you remember the month and the year when we took the picture?
Yeah, that's why I like iCloud because I can remember the month, you know, and just kind of scroll to the month and I'm like, oh, I found it.I'm terrible at time.Yeah.Time and directions. It's like, I'm just terrible with it.We all have our strengths.
I know. So, that was a good thing. And then, Eureka, finally this morning, we have a functional dishwasher here at the distillery.I mean, that's been, what, how many months have we been working on this thing?Oh, forever.
I mean, got that thing last November, I feel like, or October.I think it's even been longer than that sitting on a skid. We bought it obviously used from an auction because I'm very price conscious.
And then we had to get our entire kitchen here, remodeled is a bad word, but we had to put something in there. We had to put something in there. There really was nothing there before. We had to tear down all the walls.
well, at least one wall that was a closet and redo drywall and whatnot, flooring, get cabinetry in there.
And then when we had time to, wasn't time to actually install a dishwasher, the plumber was just like, oh, I didn't realize this is a commercial dishwasher.I was like, well, yeah, I'm not just getting some like GE profile thing in here.
Like I got a- These closets clean in two minutes.Yeah, I got a Hobart. That's what I got rolling here. And then he tried hooking it up and obviously, why it took so long.
The frustration part was because all of a sudden we're like, well, where's this water coming from? And then the water's all over the floor. So thankfully, Ryan and I, we have, we can now add dishwasher repairman to our resumes.
So we actually were able to kind of really get in there and found out that Ryan's Eagle Eye saw it was actually just like this piece of plastic piece that had cracked at some point.
And then it took us, I think, a total of three days to get that piece out of there.Yeah, working on dishwashers is you got to be bent over, hand in like in a working space of about two and a half inches.
And just the way they crammed shit in there is unbelievable. It's good engineering. You have to loosen two nuts and it's death by a thousand turns just because you don't have enough space to swivel the wrench a half inch each time. But we got it.
Yeah, I was I was very excited building once I figured out what the problem was then taking it apart seemed a little bit easier just had to keep tracing the parts until I just Disconnected everything and I was like, okay here it is But man alive like it this thing had been sitting around for a few years.
So the amount of I don't know cake I guess you could say between the threads a few cycles before I ran two cycles before I put some dishes.Okay.Yeah, so don't don't you worry about it, but
I'm just excited now we have a dishwasher because I'm always looking around and I see glasses everywhere that are dirty.I'm kind of like, well, somebody's got to wash these. They're not my glasses. We'll get that dishwasher at some point.
We finally got it though. So that's exciting. And then again, another big thing, Kali, the guys have been cranking it out this week when it comes to bottling too.
Yeah, we had three Pursuit Series, six Private Selection, Double Oak and Double Oak Raw, and then Bourbon.
we were sold out of so another batch of bourbon and another batch of double oak rye because we sold out of that sold out of that and that's been aging for two and a half months tasted it last week thought it was ready and said let's bottle it so yeah i'm excited i'm excited i'm excited for q4 that's what i created a newsletter last night around 1 a.m and sent it out started last week didn't or no that's starting september 15th
Yeah, yeah, yeah.I mean, now, because we're technically in O&D, right?Yeah, yeah.I mean, we've been getting all kinds of POs from our distributors, because they're all out, and people are in the buying season. So, it feels good.It does.
Feels like we got some traction.Yeah.How did this, you know, everybody, it's funny, it's like, I was on Facebook the other day, and people were, you know, I think Taylor from, who's on X or on Twitter. No, she's bad as well.
No, by the way, it's almost the end of the Ares tour, so that's coming to a close as well.Anyway, no, Taylor, he's on X and Twitter and stuff like that. He's always talking about news that's happening.
And he had talked about, I guess, MGP stock, their forecasts are down like 5% or 6% of what's happening. And they're like, oh, bubble burst, like here it's happening. And it's like,
And everybody on the comments are like, oh, yeah, like blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, that's just the big guys.I hate to tell you all, we're doing better than we have ever done right now.
And it's just, yeah, I'm sorry that it's, I mean, they're the ones that definitely are spearheading a lot of this. But when you're already in every single corner market across the globe, there's really nowhere to go.And people have already had it.
And if they're trying something new or whatever it is, Yeah, I mean their their sales are down but right now ours are up and so I'm very thankful for that.
Yeah hundred percent we've Yeah, we've just been grinding and hustling trying to figure out the market once What products we can provide and we're connecting with them and it's been it's been an awesome year.
It's been exciting and yeah for the big brands, it's like How do you grow if you put a bow on a bottle of Woodford and do a Christmas holiday edition?Or I saw Makers did the Man of War one, you know.We talked about it last week.
Last week and it sold out.So, it is tough for them because they've had such a, you know, amazing stretch the last 10 to 15 years of just growth over growth over growth. But, you know,
especially domestically, they've hit, I mean, they've hit probably every corner of the country. So, it's like, how do you continue to grow? You have to go open up new markets. And, you know, that's just going to take time.
But Jack Daniels is already in pretty much every market across the globe. So, yeah, it's a tough spot to be in, but I'm sure they got smart people behind it, and they'll figure out, come out with a
just come out with a blackberry flavor, like, crouton. That seemed to solve their short-term problems. It's right there in front of you. It's right, yeah.Instead of Jack Daniels honey, just come out with blackberry. All right.Well, let's go ahead.
Let's kick this off.I think probably in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to go and I'm going to survey and try to figure out where we need ambassadors across our geographies for Pursuit Spirits.
But I still do know that in Fayetteville, Georgia, we could always use your help too, because great little area.
We actually had somebody responded that we had talked about it, and they had said, I'm from Fayetteville, and we were dry up until a year ago, and now we have five new liquor stores.
And that's why I was like, oh, no wonder these all look so nice around here.So new.Yeah.Yeah.That's the way it is, though. All right, let's go ahead, let's kick it off with some news.
And so this first one is our first headline is that there is a new record-breaking sale. There is a Van Winkle 18-year special reserve bourbon that was a Binney's private selection from back in 2003, and it sold for a total of $107,715.
after taxes and fees, making this Unicorn Auction's highest-selling 750 ml as a post-prohibition bourbon bottle ever sold on Unicorn.
This legendary private bottling is known for enthusiasts more simply as the Benny's 18, which is unfiltered, barrel-proof, stitzel-welded bourbon that was distilled in June of 1985 and chosen by Chicago-area retailer Benny's Beverage Depot in 2003.
Drinkers and collectors have historically viewed Benny's 18 as one of the most sought-after bottles in the hobby for several reasons.
First, it's the second-highest proof official of a Van Winkle bottle ever released at 121.6, and many have referenced it as the 2003 version of the very, very old Fitzgerald Blackhawk 18 that was bottled in 1969, and also bottled at 18 years old, an almost identical 121 proof.
Bottles from this release were also not individually numbered like other rare Van Winkle private labels, but actually the total yield is believed to be around 80 to 100 bottle range.
And did you know that some of the most valuable bourbons of all time share a special connection between person and place? And that's Julian Van Winkle III and Chicago.
Ultra rare, we'll have the top of the mountain of Van Winkle private bottlings is like Twisted Spoke, Delilah's 10th anniversary, Benny's 18, Sam's 20 year, of course the Chicago Blackhawks, and those were all bottled during the same, or at least those ones were all bottled in the same area for Chicago-based bars and retailers.
That's incredible.I wish... Penny's probably like, wish we could have sold it for... They probably couldn't give the damn thing away in 2003.So, you know, yeah.
The fact that people held on to them, that was the thing that was also I left out of here is that most people bought them because they consumed them back then.It wasn't a collectible. It was just like, oh, like here's this $90 bottle.
Somebody probably got it for a Christmas gift. They didn't drink bourbon. It was like... Oh crap, I found this thing.I wonder how much this is worth.Oh crap, we need to sell this one. That's quite the ROI.Yeah, yeah. That's pretty awesome, though.
That's good to see.I mean, the collector's market, that's good to see.I know not across the board it's up, but it's good to see that there's still good value for collectors and whatnot as investments and stuff. There are still some true unicorns.
So, marking the next chapter in the nearly 140-year history, Green River has begun construction on a new consumer experience that will bring the pride of Owensboro to the streets of downtown Louisville and also be next-door neighbors to Pursuit Spirits.
So, located at... Was that in the press release? No.I just put that one in there a little bit. So located at 714 West Main Street, Green River's Louisville Tasting Room is set to open mid of 2025.
The warm and communal space will feature a horseshoe shaped tasting and cocktail bar serving neat pours and straightforward cocktail classics.
A retail and bottle shop will offer both everyday whiskeys and limited edition distillery exclusives made for friendly, low key fun patrons where they can play shoot the shoe, which is a game of skill using the Green River bottle as a goal, or they can relax in the lounge, complete with an intimate performance stage.
oh yeah, performance stage, with flexible seating for VIP experiences.
Beyond the main room is also a hidden entrance that will lead to a speakeasy bar, where the brand will host a refined cocktail program, educational experiences, and private events.
Throughout the tasting room, visitors will find Green River memorabilia, artifacts, and it showcases the brand's storied history, which began back in 1885.
Relics, photographs, and historic blueprints and advertisements will be seamlessly incorporated throughout the 4,400 square foot space. Yeah, this is awesome.Known about it for a while, but yeah, we can finally talk about it.
Glad we can finally talk about it.It's funny, like, we got our space, and then I kind of tipped the people off at Bardstown that we were doing, then they got their space, and they beat us.If Green River beats us, I'm going to be really pissed.
Yeah, I know.Because we started this whole, not that we started the trend uptown, but on that block right there, that was us.We had an idea. We're just glad that they're there. We are.
I'm stoked that they're there, because the Bardstown place is awesome, and I know the Green River. The renderings look great, and I'm excited to be dead in the middle.Yep.I saw some pictures, and their floors are already cleaned out.
It looks a little bit better than where our floors are currently at, so we got some ketchup. But we got some character in ours.
Well, we also have three floors of Airbnbs above us, so there's a lot more construction that's happening than just a tasting room.A lot of dust.Plus, we have, what, 8,000 square feet?7,500 square feet, something like that?Correct, yeah.
We'll be bigger than both of them combined actually won't both of them combined will be about the same probably or yeah ish But no, it's exciting.Yeah That whole area is gonna be hopping. It's it's it already is and so it's just cool.
We'll have all of us being down there So yep, so make sure you come and check all out for run out Luxardo's.We'll just go over Bardstown, Green River, you got any?Yeah, got any cherries we can use?
We're running low on... You know, we probably should talk to them about what they do for their ICE program.I was thinking about this the other day.
By the way, I'm gonna give you all just an insight of what it's like to even run a bar and figure this out. It's like, you know, how do you get those big square blocks of ice, like there's only a few companies that can provide them.
And like there's one, there's a guy named Rich that does it with Kentucky Straight Ice, and he's not taking on new clients. And I believe I talked to Travis Hill, who's a friend of the show.
So like that bar seven, they have their ice shipped in from Cincinnati daily.Oh, wow.Yeah.That sounds expensive. We need to figure out an ice program and figure out what everybody's doing around there.
I thought they sell the individual cubes somewhere locally, didn't you?Well, like I said, Kentucky Straight Ice, they're not taking on new clients.Oh.He doesn't want to grow.Oh, gotcha.Well, shoot.Yeah.
Well, maybe we can get under Bardstown Green River Ice Program.Yeah, so we need to talk to them about that. Can we contract our ice theory? We already contracted still theory, so.
I was, I was, cause I was talking to Travis and I mean, they were talking about this already is, is there's opportunity for somebody to come in here and create another ice company that services us because it's starting to, it's starting to grow.
All right, let's keep this going here.So Jackson purchased the store.
Speaking of just everything happening here in Louisville, Jackson Purchase, who's a contract distiller with production facilities in Hickman, Kentucky, will now open a new corporate office in Louisville by the end of the year.
And the company is currently putting the finishing touches on its new space, which is in the Ice House building at 217 East Main Street, which is a little bit further down Whiskey Road. I don't know.
Yeah, it's right before Forrester and I think it's like in between the Humana building and... Yeah, it's not technically Whiskey Road. It's like five feet before Whiskey Road starts.Right, it's closer to Angel Zippy, I guess.Exactly.
So anyway, the office is going to host meetings and private tastings for bourbon investors and other distilleries who seek out Jackson Purchase Whiskey for their own branded products.
The new office will also serve as the home base for the company's corporate leadership, including a new addition, which is the director of contract sales, Michael Creech.
And he spent nearly 20 years with Republic Distributing Company, so RNDC, which is the second largest spirits distributor in the U.S., eventually rising to area manager for On Premise.
And with him leading Republic of Kentucky's On Premise sales, that division sales grew significantly. eventually reaching over 50% of the Kentucky market share. The new office and Creech's new role are just the latest milestone for Jax's purchase.
Blah, blah, blah, blah. They also, like back in August, they had a ribbon cutting where they did a 25,000 barrel rickhouse. They've got a 36 inch column still. And that's the second one.So they're increasing production.
More and more and more well people probably like I don't want to drive down the Hickman Hickman or whatever It's pretty far away all the way at the end of Western Kentucky Parkway.
I think I have it ever been yeah I don't plan on going but exciting welcome to the ville Yes.I mean, people are here, so might as well just be here.Yeah.
I know they have a big partnership with Cascax and stuff, doing a lot of production and stuff for them, so.But I'm sure they have other investors and people want to get whiskey.Yep.And that's what, there's a, which beam over is it?Craig Beam.
Craig Beam. He's over there. He was at Heaven Hill, and then they have... Terry from Willet.Terry from Willet.Yeah, yeah.Terry Ballard.Yep.That's his name.So they got some good talent over there. They do.
All right, and so here is our last news story, which is the other big headline, is that the opportunity to purchase a profitable Kentucky distillery rarely comes around. But today that opportunity has arrived, and this is not a fire sale.
In fact, it's a successful business venture where you can see it in the financial details. So, forced by a mediated settlement between the owners, the sale is judicially mandated to terminate the partnership for Old Carter.
The distillery and social club were founded in 2019 and has been profitable in the first year of business. And this is not the founder's first rodeo, obviously.
listen to the podcast, you know the Carters already, but this offering includes a move-in ready, fully licensed distillery with plenty of aging barrel inventory ready for bottling and pallets of assorted bottles of finished goods ready for sale.
You want to hear some of the financials for the last five years? I know you already know them.I know them, but maybe some people do.Okay.Well, just to kind of give you an idea. This is all public record. This is public record.Yeah.
We're not spilling any tea here.So back in 2019, their first year in business, they did almost $500,000 of revenue.44% of that was gross profit. They had some operating expenses. Their income was a measly $77,000.Not bad, not bad.
We'll skip two years and go to 2021.They went from 500 to 1.6 million, about 1.2 in gross profit. So that's 73% of gross profit, only about $400,000 in operating expenses, meaning they had around $830,000 in net income. So that's 50% income.
And then going into 2023, this is kind of the record-breaking one, is that they had $4.5 million in revenue, $3.8 million in gross profits, that's about 84%, almost $800,000 in operating expenses, which left them a cool $3 million in income, which is around a 67% income, which is
It is staggering. You don't really see that in any business.I mean, that's... No.This business is built on volume and low margin, and that's what it's like.
People will try to sell and make pennies as long as they can move it, and old Carter does the exact opposite. Yeah, well, I mean, they've done a fabulous job with being able to sell really premium products.
I mean, I think their cheapest SKU is like $150, $180, maybe.A lot of them are in the $250, $300 range. And, you know, they've been acquiring whiskey for years, so they probably got those – hence why their margins are so high.
They had, you know, aged whiskey that they bought at much lower cost than people were buying in 2019 to 2020 to present day.
Yeah, it's I mean, I'm just in here eating popcorn waiting to see what this thing goes for I Know we've talked to a few people that are I know there's a ton of interest behind the scenes that people Seriously, I'm putting bids to try to do this and it'll be interesting to kind of see what what happens with the brand because you don't want it to end up being a another Kentucky owl and
where they're gonna try to mass produce it, mass scale it.Because I think when I read it, they only have 3,000 barrels in inventory. We have more barrels than they do.But all their barrels are high age.I don't know if they're all high age.
Probably not high age.I saw them. Majority of them are like seven and younger.Okay.Yeah, but it seemed they had a significant amount of age barrels that you would have a good runway But they have a lot of stuff. That's six seven sixteen younger.
Yeah, I mean they have to keep it boutique and small like there's there's no way around it, that it's not a brand that if you tried to scale this everywhere, it's going to work.As we've seen, the appetite's not there for $150 to $300.No.
Unless it's from the big six and it's got a 12, 13, 14-year age statement on it.Yeah, exactly.
So that's the fascinating part is that they were able to sell fucking sorry excuse my language light whiskey from MGP on age stated for you know how proof this and that for $300 a bottle and but the same way people did it because of the name yeah, they did the name and their ride and stuff like yeah, they did a lot of
Non age-dated releases that were just high dollar and people didn't care.
I mean the product was good But it's I mean, it's really good, but it's just fascinating make people More vanity over sanity in this game a little bit a little bit, but like I said, you're right We'll be sitting from the sidelines and figuring out what's gonna happen here with this.
So yeah, so that's the Who knows if it's the end of Old Carter?I mean, you know, we had Mark and Sherry on the show before, so obviously they're splitting the business and they're not going to be doing this together anymore.
But it'll be interesting to kind of see what the next couple months have in store for them.Yep.We'll see. We'll report on it.We'll report on it.As long as somebody is able to put out some news article on it, we'll be more than happy to do it.

Jim Beam has made an early foray into the festivities with the debut of its limited edition Winter Reserve. This expression is aged six years before finishing for an undisclosed period in a pair of toasted barrel types.
The expression is bottled at 86 proof, is currently available at retailers including Reserve Bar, Total Wine, and Benny's at a suggested retail price of $25.
Beam does say that the bottling will be available for a limited time during the holiday season, so more than likely not, it'll probably disappear from the shelves by January. Yep, there you go.
That's how you get growth holiday ball holiday bottles, man That's what that's what it is But it seems like I feel like Christmas is the the holiday bottle like that's the one to kind of do Yeah, the if anybody buys me a sorry a holiday bottle from a big six distiller I don't need I don't need this but I get I guess I get the allure.
I don't actually it's because it's not for you It's for the masses.It's nice.
That's yeah, that's not for that's not our listener.I don't know but no, it's
Yeah, I saw I was at an account yesterday doing some sales calls, and I saw Jack Daniels had a winter Holiday release, and it was like finished in an apples cider I don't know this and that it was like a holiday cider bottle I don't know so that's there you go there.
You go more stuff.Yep, why not? All right, so let's keep going here.Log Still is proud to announce the launch of Monk's Road Rye Whiskey.
So crafted from Kentucky heritage-grown rye, cultivated on the Distillery Zone farmland, Monk's Road Rye will be available in multiple states this fall, 100-proof and priced at $47.
Yeah, we were with Wally last week and he was sipping on some of his rye.I had some of his rattlesnap because I like their Tennessee bourbon. And I had their gimlet. That gimlet, which you gave me a taste. It was really good.Amazing.
And by the way, let's give them a shout out.So make sure you go if you're down here and you want to go to a new restaurant, steakhouse, all that sort of stuff. So Monk's Road is right there on Whiskey Road and it's called the Boiler Room.
They boiler house well their house not the well it rooms a movie movie.Yeah, they kind of scam people Yeah, their stocks and stuff. That was a good movie, but it was great movie.
Yeah, but they have great cocktails We had the meatballs and some calamari all good stuff.Yeah, I went there dinner with Tiffany, and it was awesome It's pretty cool because they have like
These booths that are like inside of a column still which is kind of cool instead of just like barrels barrels Which is barrels are cool, but it was cool to sit in a column still booth.I guess you hit your head on those plates That's right.
I got some reflux All right, so there's also, this is our other big one, was that the launch of Baker's High Rye Bourbon.
This is a new expression that pays homage to the Baker's trucking business, where he delivered grains to the James B. Beam Distilling Company, and during his time, he developed an appreciation for different grains and their influence on whiskey.
I feel like they're really reaching here. This high rye recipe has two times the standard amount of rye in baker's bourbon. This sounds like a more old granddad.Yeah, they've got to figure out.
They put some old granddad in that 16, like, we got all this granddad, what are we going to do with this? And it's a continuation of their innovation journey and celebrating baker beam and all they did for distillery.
It's distilled to 107 proof, barreled and aged for a minimum of seven years, and it has a price tag of $75.Sounds good. I always liked bakers.I grew up on it.
I think it's great, but I never had the double rye bakers, so we'll see how it is compared to O'Grandad. Two X rye.Two X rye. That's right.People like numbers. They sure do.
All right, so this is Lost Lantern with the release of their 2024 fall collection, and this is making a statement, challenging the misconception that whiskey from newer American distilleries is always young and dirty. and gross. No, I'm just kidding.
They didn't say that. But just young. The new collection features 10-year-old bourbon, which is two 10-year-old rides and a nearly 10-year-old American single malt, which highlights distilleries that have been investing in long-term aging.
And these are some of the oldest whiskeys Lost Lantern has ever released, and in some cases, the oldest from these distilleries as well. Each release is presented at cash drink, non-show filtered, and bottles are priced at $150 each.
So the first is probably going to be our favorite. It's the Westland Peated American Single Vault.I'm just kidding, we're not going to like that. But it is 9.99 years.I don't know why they did that, but there was something in the press release.
Just wait like 20 more days.Yeah, I don't even know, I'd wait like two hours. And then it's bottled at 109.8 per roof. And this is a 100% malted barley, heavily peated from Scottish peat.Peat, sorry about that.
And then you have Tom's Foolery Ohio straight bourbon, which is a 10-year-old single cask.It is 119.4 per roof, and this only had 82 bottles.
It's a straight bourbon whiskey that was aged for 10 years in a 53-gallon barrel, made from 63% corn from the family farm. 10% winter rye and 27% malted barley. This is also Spirits Works California straight rye 10-year-old single cask.
It's 139.2 proof and the distillery is renowned for its gin and rye whiskey and guided by one of the only female-led distilling teams in the U.S.This release is made from 70% rye, 10% malted rye and 20% malted barley.
Lastly, New York distilling company Straight Rye 10-year-old single cask is 133.9 proof, 125 bottles, and one of the country's first and finest urban distilleries, and a champion for the rebirth of gin and rye whiskey in the Empire State.
Made from 72% rye, 16% corn, and 12% malt and barley. I actually tried, I tried everything but the peated single malt.Oh yeah, I forgot.Because Brian had all the sealed box.Going on sealed box.
So I tried those three and they were actually all fantastic. They were really, really, I think the most surprising, not surprising, but it'd been a while since I had tomfoolery.I remember we had their stuff when I was like five or six years old.
It had to been at least five plus years ago since we actually had it.But yeah, I was blown away how good it was.So these are, The three I had were amazing.
I wasn't going to waste my palate on peated single malt, so I knew that was not going to be my cup of tea, so I didn't try that. But for you single malt peated lovers, I'm sure it's good.I'm sure it's fantastic. You're just going to devour it.
All right, so here we go, is that due to the overwhelming popularity of certain single-barrel bourbons that Buzzards Roost released at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival back in September, they are now launching a small-batch release of this bourbon on Saturday, October 26th, at their Buzzards Roost tasting room and distillery.
The small-batch Kindred collaboration, this is to be exclusively available in Kentucky, was created by Buzzards Roost's lead distiller, Ethan Spalding, and his dad, longtime Cooperage industry exec, Chad Spalding.
The whiskey family heritage also includes Ethan's granddad, which is Steve Nally, a renowned Bourbon Hall of Fame member and master distiller. He's our distiller.Wait a minute, he's our master distiller.I'm kidding.
So Ethan and his dad put their magic touch on this five-year-old double oak bourbon with a mashable 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley that went underneath, went underneath, went underwent
secondary aging and buzzards roots proprietary barrel chosen by Ethan and Chad for the flavor product that they like best.
And this combination of five-year-old bourbon with this mash bill and buzzards roots specially toasted wave stave barrel has never been done before. This has an SRP of $65.Hey, it's my anniversary.Maybe I should get one. October 26th?Yeah.Oh, okay.
Yeah. What country are you jet-setting off to for this anniversary?I'll be in Tennessee for working at an event.Oh, that's right. That's right. You're gonna be in an event. You're gonna be hanging out.
I'll be slinging whiskey, just what my wife wants to do.She signed up for it.Yeah, that's true.Yeah, it was like, let's be fair now.She signed up to do that. She's a good sport. That's all right.
She does she need like a like a sweet t-shirt or something to wear. She got it.She's got to rep the brand She's already got them all.
Okay, you need to wear a hat when you get some she doesn't do hats Okay, we had to figure out something more on her side then maybe a bag or something.Yeah.Yeah, we're out of those I meant like a designer handbag. No, I can't afford one right now.
Fair enough.Yeah.We're going to dinner. The event's down in Franklin, Tennessee, so we're going to go to a nice dinner the night before. We're all good.Treat yourself. That's right.
All right, here's our last one, and it's that New Riff has announced the release of a Kentucky straight rye whiskey made with biscuit malt.Yummy.Bisquick.I was just going to think it was buttermilk biscuits.
So proudly distilled using Abbey malt from the prominent German malt house Weyermann, the whiskey is the latest installment in the distillery's high note limited edition lineup.
It will be available exclusively through the New Riff's Whiskey Club and at the distillery's Aquifer Tasting Room. made with 51% rye, 26% corn, and 23% Weyermann Abbey malt, which is obviously a biscuit malt if you didn't know that.
The latest rye whiskey features a complex malty aroma with intense notes of biscuit, honey, nuts, and chocolate.I don't think I've ever nosed a bourbon and been like, you know what?I got some good biscuit on this one.
Well, you get some doughy type biscuit. Yeah, but I don't think we've ever said biscuit.Probably not biscuit.More doughnuts and croissants. All right.I'll keep going when you talk about biscuits.Yeah.
So, New Rift first began its Weyermann Abbey malt exploration back in 2014, when it began distilling what would become its award-winning 100% malted rye whiskey.
This is aged four years, again, made with some biscuit malt, bottled to 109.4 proof without filtration, and has a suggested retail price of $50.It'd have been so much cooler if they said it was Bisquick malt.
I only think that's not even real biscuits though.It's not.I mean, I don't know.It's like flour.
I kind of want to make, I'm kind of like at a hankering, like I kind of want to make it a mission this weekend and like go make some really good biscuits. I just do the crayons. They're so much easier.I know, you know, John Little, our friend over.
Yeah. You know, he's got a thing. He does a lot of homemade biscuits from scratch, and that's like his thing.Yeah.Takes a lot of time.To do it right, I think so.Yeah.I don't see doing, I don't see biscuits in your future.
Well, I think it just, you know, it's more than biscuit.I think it involves a lot of butter.Well, now that your daughter's going to be on her phone all day, you'll have time to do the biscuits.
Like, hey, hey, look up that biscuit recipe I need to try.Yeah, yeah.Which honestly might be a good thing. There you go.You can look it up on her new phone and do the recipe together. And she loves biscuits.
It's like one of the only six things that she eats now.Oh, perfect.Yeah.Save a trip from Biscuit Belly. That place is good.I went there last weekend. It's great. which is another local spot around here.
So if you're looking for some good brunch, it's the way to do it.Yep.That is our finale of this week at Berman for October 25th, 2024.I was looking, I was like, do we have, we have one next week? No.Happy Halloween.Oh yeah.
Cause it'll be November 1st for our next one.Oh, so yeah.Happy Halloween.Hope your costume was great. Yeah, what you gonna dress up anything pursue bottle cuz it's black and orange Smart idea. No, I usually don't dress.
I did the whole kin thing last year But this year every year it for some reason it surprises me.I'm like, oh I want to get cuz I love dressing up I think it's fun.
I really get in the spirit, but then when it comes around I'm like, I just didn't I just didn't I just did good.I didn't order a costume I didn't order a costume, but thankfully I mean like you've seen it.
I've got a closet full of stuff from my Halloween.Yeah, so I've I've got... Just break out some of that old crap.I've got a backlog.I think I've got, like, an old prince kind of costume.I've got a... I know I have a Colonel Sanders costume.
You know, we did stuff for... Back when Orange is the New Black was hot, I dressed up as, I don't know, whatever, that police officer that had the mustache.Oh, yeah. That was when you had the stache?Yeah, that's when I had my stache.Yeah, yeah.
Don't do that one. That was a good day.Actually, I don't know.I guess I... No, I don't think I growed out long enough by Halloween, so you're right. That's over. I could just grow out a mustache for Halloween and just see what happens.Don't do it.
What are you worried about? It's not like you have to kiss me at night.I don't have to look at you.Your desk is right next to mine. Then you look over, you're like, damn, that's a good mustache. All right, y'all, that's it.We'll see you next time.
