Lanny Poffo made his debut in 1974, losing to Wayne Cowan in the opening match of a All-South Wrestling Alliance card held in Atlanta, GA on April 16th. The young rookie remained in the promotion for several months, defeating Cowan in a rematch and also gaining a win over The Great Fuji. At a card on July 9th, 1974 in Atlanta he teamed with his father Angelo Poffo for the first time, defeating the veteran team The Royal Kangaroos Lanny Poffo is the son of Veteran In Ring Wrestling Legend and Promoter Angelo Poffo and is the younger brother of Randy "MACHO MAN" Savage.

I was certainly surprised to see a wrestling show based out of San Antonio, TX on TV in a WWF market, but I was a loyal viewer from the beginning. I was able to see on TV every Saturday morning, main event type match-ups that I would only see from the WWF if I paid to go to a house show. The SWCW angles came at you fast and furious, unlike the WWF where angles for the most part were not as prevalent as in the NWA and AWA promotions. WWE Hall of Famer Handsome Jimmy Valiant (And a HUGE Surprise Guest!) Handsome Jimmy Valiant Owns a wrestling school (Boogie's Wrestling Camp) in Shawsville, Virginia. Jimmy Valiant has competed in the NWA, WWWF/WWF, AWA, and several independent promotions in the Mid-Atlantic area. His theme song is "The Boy From New York City" by the Manhattan Transfer. He still uses the theme song to this day. Although he teamed with Johnny Valiant and Jerry Valiant, they were not brothers in real life. He and his partner Lucious Johnny Valiant are Class of 1996 WWE Hall of Famers. Jimmy is a Published author.
