Six rules for happiness with entrepreneur and award-winning business leader, coach, mentor, facilitator, speaker, writer, and mindfulness teacher Ray Martin

Welcome to the Wellbeing and Career World podcast. In November 2005, my guest left the UK for what was meant to be a six-month sabbatical. At the time, he was an award-winning CEO of a Management Consultancy, but life had other plans. His wife and business partner suddenly wanted out of both the company and their marriage, and shortly after, his father passed away. Within three months, everything he knew had changed. That six-month trip turned into a 14-year journey of transformation, ultimately leading to the release of his book, Life Without A Tie, in 2022. Along the way, he discovered six key ‘rules’ that have shaped his path to happiness and fulfillment. Today, we’ll dive into those rules and the powerful lessons behind them. On today's podcast we will be chatting about Ray's "six rules for happiness" Ray answers some of the questions below or answers questions as part of the conversation.   What inspired you to develop your six rules to happiness, and how did your 14-year journey shape them? Your first rule is to ‘Build a solid foundation.’ What does that mean, and how can someone start building their own foundation? ‘Fully Own Everything that Happens’ is a powerful concept. Can you share a moment when taking ownership transformed your mindset or approach to life? In what ways has becoming your own observer helped you grow, and how can others apply this in their daily lives? When it comes to creating ‘Powerful, Purposeful, and Sustainable Relationships,’ what are some key elements that people often overlook? Why is paying attention to health—spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional—so critical, and how do you personally balance these aspects? How has empowering and supporting others contributed to your own happiness, and what advice would you give to someone looking to do the same? Were there any particular challenges in consistently applying these six rules to your life? How did you overcome them? How do these rules work together as a system, and why is it important to apply them collectively rather than individually? For listeners just beginning their own journey to happiness, which of the six rules would you suggest they focus on first, and why?   Contact Ray:  Website: Life Without A Tie - Ray Martin Book: Life Without a Tie (getbook.at)   Disclaimer: This podcast and website represents the opinions of Wellbeing and Career World and our guests to the show and website.  The content here should not be taken as medical advice and is for informational purposes only, and because each person is so unique, please consult your healthcare professional for any medical questions or Aviation/Aerospace Employer, Regulator, organisation for questions related to you. Trusting Your Gut: The Power of Intuition in Nursing with Jenn Johnson

Welcome to the Wellbeing and Career World podcast. We’re diving deep into the power of intuition, especially in high-stakes environments like the ER. My guest, Jenn Johnson, has spent years as an ER nurse in Canada, and along the way, she discovered something remarkable—she could often sense what was going on with her patients before the tests confirmed it. Jenn shares her journey of learning to trust her gut, the science behind intuition, and how it became an essential part of her patient care. But it wasn’t just her patients that pushed her to grow. Jenn also faced intense bullying in the workplace, forcing her to leave jobs and confront toxic environments head-on. Today, she walks us through those experiences, how she handled each one, and the lessons she took with her every step of the way. And the story doesn’t end there—Jenn is now gearing up to release her book, Nursing Intuition, this fall, where she’ll explore more about the science and art of trusting your instincts in patient care. Jenn’s experiences, both in the ER and in dealing with challenging coworkers, have given her invaluable insights, and we can’t wait for you to hear more. Transitioning to a new music teaching job with Composer/Conductor/Author/Performer/Music Educator Adrian Gordon

Welcome to the Wellbeing and career world podcast, I am delighted to be chatting with internationally performed composer and seasoned music educator. After 17 years of teaching music in the classroom in South Florida and going through four music director job transitions in two different schools, as well as general music, choir, and two string orchestra positions, Adrian realized there was a gap in his music education training. Even though his undergraduate and graduate programs were musically and pedagogically extensive, he never felt as though they touched on those hard-to-navigate areas of transitioning between jobs. In addition to teaching, Adrian is the founder of Leap Year Music Publishing, which publishes string music for elementary, middle, and high school ensembles. His compositions appear on the Florida, Texas, Maryland, and Georgia Orchestra Association Music Performance Assessment Lists. His compositions are distributed through J.W. Pepper and have been performed throughout the world. He takes pride in creating music that is fun and pedagogically sound at all levels. Adrian received his BA in music from the University of Miami and his master’s degree in music education at Florida International University. Born and raised in Miami, FL, he currently resides in Charlotte with his wife, Kelly, and their two sons. On today's podcast we will be chatting about transitioning to a new music teaching job A very warm welcome to the podcast Adrian Gordon   Adrian answers some of the questions asked below during the podcast or answers questions as part of the conversation. The conversation between Tahmina and David discuss a number of airlines throughout the podcast. The Wellbeing and Career World podcast and guest Tahmina Watson have no association with any of the Airlines or Individuals mentioned within those Airlines.   1)I gave a brief introduction about your background, Can you let our listeners know more about your background? 2) Tahmina, there are so many articles in the news and social media informing of a Pilot shortage in the USA and how airlines are helping expats pilots obtain Visas to work in the USA. Is it so easy what these reports are saying? 3) I want to first ask you about the E3 Visa. There is an article from Business insider about Australian expat pilots having an opportunity to work for Breeze Airways, that article mentions "Australian pilots will be able to work as Breeze pilots under the E-3 work visa program in a little-used but not unprecedented solution to the pilot shortage. Skilled Australian nationals can apply to legally work in the US and regional airlines including CommutAir and ExpressJet Airlines have used the program to recruit pilots from the country. "It's an opportunity to give good, hardworking, well-qualified folks jobs who want to live in the US [and] want to be a pilot for a US airline," Owens said. 4) Are there any Visas available to unemployed/ex-pat pilots to gain access to employment in the USA? 5)Are these Visas expensive and what is the time span from application to setting foot in the USA for work?6) If the reported pilot shortage in the USA is fact, then why not make it easier for expat pilots to obtain a visa from all countries.? 7) What are the first steps do you recommend to a pilot wanting to obtain a visa in the USA? 8) I have some questions sent in from Pilots looking for more information: Which are the effective operational limits to the NIW EB-2 visa ?Is it possible to obtain any visa without any sponsor? Will my application cost large amounts of money? Is it possible a special unit can be formed by the USA immigration office only for pilots that could help solve the Reported pilot shortage and reported transportation issues . If i get a visa, is it permanent or renewable? If i obtain a visa, can i apply for permanent residency? 9) Is it worth contacting airlines to ask them about possible opportunities for ex-pats? 10) What about the financial status of the pilot, for example: is proof of savings and being able to support oneself criteria of the application? Question 11) Is there anything else I may have missed out which you feel is important to share? 12) Where can listeners find you on social media?   Tahmina and her team have kindly provided the links below ans hope you can find the information you need.
