Unmasking Your Worldview
Transformation Tip: “We do not see the world as it is. We see the world as we are or as we are conditioned to see it” - Gabor MatéEvery action is rooted in the thought that produced it Your worldview is the collection of your attitudes, values, stories, expectations, etc. You don't often think about what is truly shaping your decisions, but your worldview is impacting how you see and respond to situations every single day. Factors that shape worldview: EnvironmentParents Culture EducationSpiritual/Moral PrinciplesTransformation Application: Think of a topic you have a strong opinion about or affiliation with and then ask yourself “What or who shaped that belief or affinity towards that thought”? Resolving Inner Conflicts (Part 2)
Whether we realize it or not, many of us have inner conflicts that affect our relationships with ourselves and others. In this episode, Steve and Pete offer practical tips for putting relational conflict behind you to find full freedom. Transformation Tip: If you own this story, you get to write the ending. Roots of conflict that cause us to get off track Involuntary: what people have done to cause conflict to youVoluntary: what you have done to cause conflict to othersHow to bring ourselves back into alignment:Involuntary ForgivenessVoluntary Taking responsibility ForgivenessAccepting yourself Pete’s Poem: “Should” When I take stock of who I am and see that things are good. A thief comes in to steal my joy accusing me, “but you should”. You should be more productive. Your body should be slim. That guy right there is so well-liked. You should be more like him.So now there's a rubbly where my esteem once stood, knocked down with cruel intention by the wrecking ball of should. “How dare you be contented! Your best will never do.”“Try harder still”. His voice demands, “become a different you”.I get back on the hamster wheel determined to improve but hear him say to my dismay, “the finish line has moved”.Then in a time of clarity, I see I have a choice. I can choose to tune him out and hear a different voice. I hear I am accepted. I hear I am enough. And where I lack, God’s got my back, I'm covered by his love. I'll celebrate my talents working hard at what I do. I'm doing fine with my design my limitations too. I don't do super exploits. Sometimes I wish I could, but I accept me as I am. I've had enough of should.Transformation Application: Write your list and complete the forgiveness exercise discussed in the podcast. Transformation Talk with Craig Muster: The Power of Storytelling
In this special Transformation Talk episode, Pete talks with Craig Muster, an essential life coach, and business consultant, about how sharing unfiltered and honest stories can create deep and meaningful connections and relationships.Transformation Tip: 'Where there is perfection there is no story to tell.' — Ben Okri Learn to listen to other people's stories and pay attention to how you tell your own stories. When we tell our stories with filters and perfectionism, we don't allow ourselves to be vulnerable and we keep ourselves from truly connecting with others. When you try and "appear" a certain way, you cannot truly connect with people's hearts. When you hear someone else's story it gives you permission to think differently about your own story. Performance will never give you what connection can. Connection satisfies your soul. Transformation Application: Have two courageous conversations this week.
