Too Opinionated Interview: Kurt Yue

Kurt Yue was born in Beijing, China and moved to the United States with his parents when he was four years old. He spent his formative years moving around the country from Iowa to Arizona to Ohio. Unlike many actors, Kurt never dreamed of acting when he was growing up. He never participated in drama club in high school nor did he take any theater classes in college. In fact, before the age of 27, his only acting experience was a fourth grade play (in which he played a horse). Four years after graduating college with a degree in computer science and engineering, Kurt was doing business consulting as a software developer in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the "typical young professional" working nine-to-five on weekdays and hitting the bars with friends on weekends. One Saturday night, after a night of celebrating a high school buddy's return from a tour of duty in the army, Kurt and his friends were walking back to their cars when he noticed an interesting storefront. It was the Houde School of Acting - the premier acting school in Cleveland, Ohio. Since he was looking for something to do after work at the time, this really piqued his interest. Kurt decided to jot down the contact info and, the following week, he walked into his first acting class ever. With speaking roles in Fox’s The Gifted, Sony’s Venom andMarvel’s Black Widow, Yue has appeared in all 3 Marvel Universes. Kurt is also known for his roles in Cobra Kai, The Haunting of Hill House, Dynasty, Young Rock, Preacher, Will Trent, Man in Full, Wolf Pack and Ozark.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Too Opinionated Interview: Dan Luzadder

Today on Too Opinionated, author and Pulitzer winning journalist Dan Luzadder stops in to discuss his two new books!  The Manchurian Journalist: Lawrence Wright, the CIA, and the Corruption of American Journalism Luzadder’s in-depth, extensively documented, and critical examination of the Fourth Estate is a tough look at what must be done to restore the independence and integrity of America’s watchdog of democracy, its independent journalists. “As the nation witnesses the collapse of fact-based, unbiased, democracy-supporting journalism, amid our current political dystopia, a truly free and independent press remains a democratic dream yet unrealized,” said Luzadder. “Rebuilding the dream of a functional media rooted in truth and integrity, committed to the fundamentals of democracy, is dependent on that truth being known.” The Manchurian Journalist documents for readers that their concerns about American journalism are justified. It shows that as the watchdog of democracy journalism has, since the Cold War, been compromised by influences unseen and unheard by the public in deciding what people read, hear and subsequently believe. This cultural cold war, led by a CIA and State Department-tied political strategy, involved major news outlets, magazine and book publishers, and worked through a network of unsigned intelligence ‘agents' – and influential institutions, foundations and government agencies -- to propagandize the American public, challenge socialism and communism, and preserve an elite “ Establishment.” Street Talk: The Great Flood and Other Stories from a River City      Street Talk, (The Great Flood and Other Stories from a River City), is a collection of columns and stories written in the early 1980s by author and investigative journalist Dan Luzadder, a columnist for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel. Included are his reflections and reporting on life in the city, including columns he wrote for the newspaper's Pulitzer-winning coverage of The Great Flood. This natural disaster in the spring of 1982 drew national attention and an appearance by President Ronald Reagan as thousands of residents were driven from their homes at the heart of the city where three rivers converge - and the city plunged into a desperate battle against the flood-of-the-century.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Throughout Victory Gazette, Ames paints a vivid and often heart-wrenching picture of the lives of Justine and those who continued to report the truth. Their sacrifices clearly reflect the tension and uncertainty of the time. Ames’ description of Justine’s internal conflicts and her interactions with family and fellow Resistance members provides a deeply human perspective on the war and its impact on individuals and communities. Too Opinionated Interview: J David Bethel

As the son of a U.S. State Department Foreign Service Officer, J. David Bethel hopscotched around the world, from one of his father’s embassy postings to another, finding himself, in 1959, in Cuba, sitting in a hotel room with Fidel Castro, just one week after Castro had come to power. Today, Bethel is an award-winning author, mining his memories from his globetrotting youth as the son of an embassy press attache for his political and psychological thrillers that explore the violence always simmering in the dark recesses of human nature.  As Bethel says, “My childhood was fertile training ground for a fiction writer.”  His latest novel, Mapping the Night (2024), follows a pair of investigators – one for the FBI, the other for the NYPD -- whose probe into a New York City serial killer is being hampered by a person – or persons – in government. The question is why?  As with Bethel’s other books, Mapping the Night is fast-paced, intricately plotted, with compelling characters in the kinds of glamorous, high-stakes worlds in which Bethel grew up and later worked. Not surprisingly, many of his novels lean into politics. Evil Town (2015, Tell-Tale Publishing Group) tracks an FBI investigation into the murder of the wife of popular Florida congressman that takes the story from the Pentagon to small-town Florida. No Immaculate Conceptions (2018, Two Dog Publishing) follows a frantic young presidential speechwriter who is pursued by a psychopath.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Too Opinionated Interview: Dan-e-o

Dan-e-o (Daniel Faraldo) is an award-winning Canadian Hip Hop artist, songwriter, and actor of Jamaican/Spanish descent.  The critically acclaimed emcee will drop his 6th solo album, “Vigilante” on May 10th on all major streaming platforms via URBNET.  Since Dan’s single, “Cleanse My Soul” dropped earlier this year, fans and critics alike have been eagerly waiting the artist’s new album. “Vigilante” is worth the wait! The album stays true to the social conscious of Dan-e-o. It is equal parts lyricism clinic and seething social commentary - from the graphic novel album cover to the unapologetic lyrical content. “Vigilante” harshly critiques social media misuse, talentless rappers, gun violence, anti-black racism, self-hatred, jealousy, and self-doubt. The rapper’s commitment to irradiating negativity and the injustices that surround us is made clear by the album’s title. “Vigilante” hits and hits hard and makes no apologies.  Dan-e-o’s successful 1996 debut single, “Dear Hip Hop” made the Hip Hop world sit up and pay attention. The artist has never looked back, earning the respect of fans, critics, and fellow artists. Not surprisingly, Dan-e-o leaves it all on the tracks. He is raw and unrepentant.  “Vigilante” is not for the faint of heart. The album is the veteran Toronto lyricist’s most provocative project to date.  “Vigilante” is available on fire orange vinyl, CD, digital download and all digital streaming platforms via URBNET now!  https://daneo-urbnet.bandcamp.com/album/vigilante  Don’t miss Dan-e-o’s just released single and video “Like We” featuring 2-time Juno Award-winning Reggae artist, Blessed! https://s.disco.ac/rhwutkorfwek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee7EJOKGGKk   His single release, “Supreme” featuring Nish dropped on April 19th.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)
