Ep. 239: Three Dudes attitudes

It’s life in the FastLane with a new episode of Tights and Fights!Hopefully, we’re officially done with PPVs before WrestleMania. We got a bunch of solid matches from FastLane, including some that surprisingly held the attention of the non-wrestling fans in our lives and one that just came up short in its finish. Most importantly: Now that it looks like Daniel Bryan might actually be added to the Universal Title match at WrestleMania, are we willing to amend our “TWO DUDES!” attitude in this one instance?Plus, TNT has ordered a reality show starring Cody and Brandi Rhodes. Do we think they can thrive where couples like Miz and Maryse have? We have our doubts! The Main EventSince her debut Charlotte has been a fixture of the women’s matches at WrestleMania. Now for the first time, she’s set to miss the event. Whether that’s because of COVID or because she played hardball to get her fiance out of his WWE contract, we don’t know for sure. But we’re going to get into the Queen and how WWE leans on her so much. The Three CountDanielle put over Xavier Woods’ new bass.Lindsey put over Britt Baker's promo.Hal put over Asuka's instagram photo and the potential for more all-female commentaryHosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 238: Stop the bleeding

Let’s enjoy life in the fast lane before an orange racist ruins WrestleMania! It’s a brand new Tights and Fights! This Sunday is the last live show on the WWE Network before the service moves over to the Peacock platform. We’ll say little requiem for our $9.99 friend, between what went right, wrong and our hopes for WWE on Peacock. There are some fun matches on deck for Fast Lane, but it’s a little hard to focus on that when 1) this feels like an unnecessary step before Mania and 2) Hulk Hogan is returning to host the biggest show of the year. We’ll try to properly express our excitement for some great wrestling and our disgust that the orange racist is returning for his biggest showcase yet since his brief exit from WWE.Main EventIt’s been years in the making but it’s finally happened: A women’s match main evented AEW Dynamite! Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa showcased a ton of brutality in this match they’ve been building to for months. But was it perhaps too brutal? And how much progress did it make in assuaging our concerns about the AEW women’s division?Three CountLindsey put over Rebel's involvment in AEW's women's match.Julian put over Shawn Michaels vs. Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 22.Hal put over Johnny Gargano and Candice Lerae eatign Dairy Queen.Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 237: All Elite Sparklers

Set the sparklers off! It’s time to over promise and under deliver on Tights and Fights!AEW’s Revolution PPV was capped off with a major Exploding barbed wire death match for the championship between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. Despite a bunch of barbed wire, it sure was light on explosions and death. We’ll talk about the dud of a finish and how we would like to see the company respond. But it’s not all bad news in the land of the Elite... now they’ve got a brand new Christian Cage on the show to mix it up! We’ll talk about his big debut and why had was DEFINITELY behind his jump. All that plus chats about an absolutely stacked NXT show, Apollo Crews’ new accent and why a quirky billionaire may be the worst kind.Main EventFor over a decade, The Miz has been one of the most quietly consistent and top tier talents in WWE. From championship reigns to reality television to The Marine, he’s done it all. And yet he still isn’t nearly as appreciated as he should be. We’ll talk about what makes him so great and what it’s been like to see every phase of his career unfold in front of us. Three CountDanielle put over Matt Hardy’s Cameo.Lindsey put over Maki Itoh’s AEW debut.Hal put over the announcement of Molly Holly going into the Hall of Fame.Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 236: Serving two kayfabes

Check the beltflation levels, tighten up the chamber doors and get yourself some new pants, it’s a brand new episode of Tights and Fights! In the time that Hal has been off the show, The Miz won and lost the WWE Championship. How excited are we for Bobby Lashley now that he’s brought the top prize to The Hurt Business? And will he really hold onto it any longer than WrestleMania? And we’ve also got plenty of other titles to discuss: Apollo Crews has a new mood and attitude as he fights for the Intercontinental Title. Plus Daniel Bryan is Roman Reigns’ newest opponent, but will it be anything more than a placeholder before Edge? But let’s also face it: One of the biggest pieces of news was Shaq debuting in AEW! He had his tag match alongside Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet and… he actually did a fine job. Does this mean more for is in store for the AEW women? IT HAD SURE BETTER!Main EventIn the Fall of 2002, Triple H presented Vince McMahon with his latest brainchild: The Elimination Chamber. It led to a bunch of injuries, messy wrestling and a really great pop for Shawn Michaels’ last World Title win. We’ll talk about the match and why it was best experienced in a Hooters restaurant.Three CountDanielle put over one of the best wrestling tweets of the week.Julian put over Mega Ran’s new song for AEW Revolution.Hal put over the Inner Circle on AEW.Hosted by Hal Lublin and Danielle Radford.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 235: Fist right up the bum

There weren’t quite 36 chambers, but there were two of them! And we’re talking all about them on a brand new Tights and Fights!Sure there were some decent, if tepid, matches on the show, but you know whatwe didn’t see much of? The women! Why wasn’t there more of a showcase for the RAW women’s champion? Why hasn’t Bianca Belair called her shot against Sasha yet?But don’t worry we’ll also talk about all the things happening with the world title scene going into WrestleMania. Edge is officially taking on Roman Reigns for the WWE Title, so it’s Spear vs. Spear take two in April. And Miz finally cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and managed to break the curse of failed cash ins. What does this mean for the title going forward? All this, plus a chat about the brilliant tears of Adam Cole who delivered the best version of a low blow to his old compadre. Main EventWhenever a new promotion opens up, WWE’s underused or recently fired talent often decides to see if there’s more money and opportunities to be had. And even though AEW said they weren’t interested in that many WWE guys, there sure are a lot of WWE guys in AEW. We’ll talk about who’s done great work and who still needs to work if they’re going to succeed in their second chance. Three CountLindsey put over Canned Heat Wrestling.Julian put over Bad Bunny on SNL.Danielle put over Big E’s new Kickstarter project “Our Heroes Rock”Hosted by Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 234: WrestleMania SS COVID

A belated happy Vengeance Day to all! It’s a brand new episode of Tights and Fights! The latest NXT TakeOver certainly delivered the goods as we prepare for the brand’s WrestleMania weekend plans. For starters, we have our winners of both versions of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic! Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez looked great in their coronation, as did MSK. Will boots be put to holes in just a few weeks? We can only hope!Plus, Io Shirai successfully defended her NXT Women’s title again. But why are we starting to wonder when the belt will move on to a new competitor?Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about Dynamite… and as enticing as an exploding barbed wire steel-cage-three stages of hell match sounds, we’re not sure this is what we want to see from our wrassles. Main EventAfter a fantastic match between Finn Balor and Pete Dunn, Adam Cole not only attacked Finn, but he also signaled what may be the end of the Undisputed Era. Where do the members of the faction go from here? And what does this mean for the NXT title going forward? The Three CountHal put over Young Rock.Lindsey put over The NXT Wrestling Fan podcast.Julian put over MSK for a very specific reason.Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 231: Proud as a Gobbledy Gooker

The Network is dead, long live the Network! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights! We’re always a week behind Smackdown, but my goodness what a show it’s become. Cesaro, Bayley, Roman, Sami and Sasha are all shining on Friday nights. But a special shout out has to go the EST of WWE because Bianca Belair is AMAZING.Not to be outdone, NXT is in the throes of its Dusty Tag Team Classic which we refuse to believe can do any wrong. And even though AEW still won’t give the women more than a single match a week on televsion, there’s some cool things on the horizon for the division and we’re always going to hope that it’ll lead to more. Hopefully!Main EventAfter seven years of $9.99 wrestling, the WWE Network  is officially headed to NBC’s streaming service Peacock. What does this mean for wrestling fans? Is there any chance that fans of The Office will decide to tune into a Royal Rumble or two? There’s so much to dive into! The Three CountDanielle put over Bianca Belair’s WWE Chronicle.Lindsey put over RJ City's "Wrestling Raconteur" documentary.Hal put over Edge Declaring for the Royal Rumble.Hosted by Hal Lublin,  Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 230: A tear… in my eye!

With a tear… in our eyes! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights! We’re giving the main roster of WWE some love this week. Smackdown’s given us Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Billie Kay, and Bayley’s Ding Dong Hello program and so much more. Plus we might get to see Apollo team up with Roman and Paul Heyman? Come on!Plus, we’re a little split on the weekly spooky antics of Alexa Bliss. Find out which side of the reaction spectrum we fall on when it comes to her newfound powers of beating Asuka clean. It goes without saying, but we’re going to anyway: NXT was fantastic this week. What a great night for something called a Fight Pit!But don’t worry, we’ve still got some love (and constructive criticism for AEW).Main EventThe 1992 Royal Rumble is considered one of the best editions of the event ever. We’ll talk about what makes it work, the promo that Ric Flair made famous and the why it was such an crazy time to be a wrestling fan.Three CountDanielle put over Mustafa Ali on Twitter..Lindsey put over Rhea Ripley on Twitter..Hal put over Adam Page not joining The Dark Order..Hosted by Hal Lublin,  Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 229: All Elite Gaming

Pass the controller and keep your mask on for the love of all things holy! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!WWE has been dealt a blow with its champion, Drew McIntyre being one of the latest people who’ve tested positive for COVID-19. What does that mean for his 100% totally wanted dream match with Goldberg at the Royal Rumble? We’re also scant weeks away from the Rumble, WWE’s first major show of the year. We’ve got a few contestants named, but most of the fun in a show like this is all the surprises that are hopefully in-store.Plus, how great is NXT? Seriously? We got even more great shows guaranteed with Finn Balor vs. Pete Dunn on the horizon and he Dusty Rhodes tag team classic in full swing.Main EventAEW has shared more details of its up-coming video game. We’re not really sold on the extra beefy character models that we’ve seen so far.... But the gameplay sounds promising! We’ll explain what our hopes are for the game to fill the 2K sized hole in hearts that WWE’s games have left. Three CountDanielle put over Malcom Bivens ruining the Buss It challenge.Julian put over the WWE Day of Reckoning video-game series.Hal put over Dr. Britt Baker's Waiting Room.Hosted by Hal Lublin and Danielle Radford.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 228: RIP Brodie Lee

Welcome to the first Tights and Fights of 2021! Has this year been an immediate improvement of the political strife and international turmoil of last year? Not really! But at least there’s a lot of good wrestling!Let’s start with NXT New Year’s Evil. What a great top to bottom show. We barely even remember to talk about the fantastic main event for how good the rest of the show is!Plus, Lindsey saw her long dream fulfilled in the main event of Night One of Wrestle Kingdom 15: Kota Ibushi is the champ-champ of New Japan! Finally, we’ll talk about the latest version of Bullet Club arriving on multiple promotions near you.Main EventYou knew him as Brodie Lee, the Leader of the Dark Order in AEW and Luke Harper, member of the Wyatt Family in WWE. In real life he was Jon Huber; a star gone entirely too soon. We heard the last few weeks from tons of people across wrestling who knew and loved him after he died on December 26th. We’ll discuss some of our favorite moments from his great career.Three CountDanielle put over Alicia Fox being recognized as the Legend she is.Lindsey put over Jay White’s post Wrestle Kingdom promo.Hal put over Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage at WrestleMania III.Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Gimme Tables! Gimme Ladders! Gimme Cans! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!WWE has one last show to put on this Sunday: TLC. We’ll talk about the matches that are on deck that will round out the damndest year of pro wrestling that any of us have lived through.Plus NXT’s women’s and men’s world title scene continue to exhibit tons of quality challengers. Is there any chance that Kyle O’Reilly beats Finn Balor? Is Toni Storm the best choice to face Io Shirai? And what’s the deal with all the leather gear lately? Finally, we’ll discuss what jokes from wrestling absolutely need to be retired in the new year. NOT A GOOD LOOK, AEW! Main EventLook the news is slow this week. Ep. 224: War Games and air guitars

War is hell… and hell.. IS AWESOME! It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights! We talk about everything we loved from NXT TakeOver: War Games. Io Shirai with a trashcan bomb was a gift to us all, for sure. In fact, so was just about everything from that women’s match.Plus, Johnny Gargano is a three time North American champion with a brand new faction that’s probably a Star Wars reference. When we’re done freaking out about the greatness from that show, we’ll discuss Kenny Omega on Impact Wrestling and whether or not we’re interested in seeing any more crossovers between the two brands. Main EventThe Undisputed Era is the certified lifeblood of NXT. Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong have held all the men’s gold, main evented tons of TakeOvers and just been a delight as they air guitared their way into our hearts. It’s a new episode of Tights and Fights!NXT is getting ready for the latest edition of its War Games TakeOver with TWO double cage matches coming on Saturday. And while we love us some Pat McAfee, that women’s cage is hitting on all cylinders for us right now. Plus, there’s a LOT happening with AEW right now: Kenny Omega cheated his way to the AEW world championship and has hinted that he will be bringing the title over to Tuesday night’s Impact Wrestling. What could this mean and how do we feel about the prospect of this sort of cross over?Plus, we’ll tell you about riding our Pelotons (or at least our incredible inaccurate simulations).Main EventSting is the latest star from Yesteryear to enter AEW. Has the company put Kenny on the right path to gain our unabashed cheers? Plus, on RAW and NXT, Drew McIntyre and Io Shirai emerged with championships after PPV quality matches. Boy what a week. It’s one of those times where you look yourself in the mirror and ask “Does anyone even care if wrestling was on TV this week?” Answer: probably not! But let’s claw free from the darkness and talk about it anyway!Hal, Danielle and Lindsey are back to discuss a little of the wrestling that they managed to walk in the midst of such a turbulent political time. But we’re also going to discuss things like Pennsylvania’s making the babyface save, how many times we’ve cried and our hope for tomorrow. Main EventThis has been the longest week of the longest year… And y'know what? Ep. 218: Taste the Painbow

Such Hell! Much Havoc! WWE showcased two major events this past week.Sunday was the latest edition of Hell in a Cell. This year we were lucky enough to see three really solid versions of the titular gimmick match. Roman Reigns retained his championship while Bayley and Drew lost theirs. We’ll talk about where these stories could play out from here. Plus, NXT held Halloween Havoc on Wednesday with a full slate of spoooOOOOooky matches to enjoy… even if we would have like to see some different outcomes. All of that plus  we’ll cover The Young Bucks final (?) tag title match in AEW, the possibility of MJF joining the Inner Circle and the return of Eric Bischoff to wrestling television.Main EventBefore it was just another gimmick match in WWE, Hell in a Cell used to be THE gimmick match of WWE. But now that the cell is a little taller, a little redder and a lot less bloodier, does it still have the same appeal? What changes have we noticed? And what were some of the best HIAC matches in history? Ep. 217: Wrestling is Musical Theater

Get on your dancin’ shoes and warm up those vocal chords! Hal and Danielle are back to talk about a whole lot of wrestling.AEW had what may have been our favorite segment from them ever: Le Dinner Debonair with MJF and Chris Jericho. They still aren’t doing right by their women’s division (as evidenced by Kenny Omega’s “Babes and Brooms” entrance), but are segments like this enough to keep us engaged as fans?Plus, we’ll talk about Kushida’s biggest win yet and why we’re so happy that while The New Day may be split up, they’re not broken up.Main EventThere may come a day when AEW and WWE combine forces in some way shape or form. If and when that ever happens, we can only hope that it turns out better than the 2001 WCW Invasion storyline. It was the conclusion of the Monday Night War and was among the biggest wasted opportunities in wrestling history. We’ll discuss what we thought as fans at the time and what might have improved it.The Three CountDanielle put over Naomi going viral on TikTok.Hal put over Roman Reigns and Jey Uso's ongoing story..Hosted by Hal Lublin and Danielle Radford.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Thanks so much for your contribution and continued support!Keep your masks on tight and protect your legs and jaws!Hal, Danielle and Lindsey are ready to discuss everything from the week in wrestling starting with NXT TakeOver 31. A fine show as always, but why does it feel like everyone on the show has had their titles forever? Is that just our impatient quarantine brain talking or is it actually a problem?Plus, we’ll get into the return of Ember Moon and how stacked the NXT women’s division is. And we haven’t forgotten about AEW which celebrated a new champion and the 30th anniversary of Chris Jericho via some very memorable cameo requests (which we’re happy to add to here)Main EventWe’ve waited a while for Mustafa Ali to get his big break and now he’s finally got it: He’s officially the leader of Retribution. How confident are we that this will lead to a major boost for him? And does his new found turn speak to how poorly WWE is able to write straight forward babyfaces in a way that gets the audience to cheer for them? The Three CountDanielle put over Effy’s big gay brunch 2020 and For the Culture.Lindsey put over Ember Moon and Toni Storm’s return and the final weeks of the G1 ClimaxHal put over the Chris Jericho anniversary celebration.Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Ep. 213: Anoa’i am the one you want

Get your Retribution names sorted and your family tree organized!Hal, Danielle and Lindsey discuss the debut of Slapjack, Mace and T-Bar from WWE’s masked faction. Those names are just as awkward as they sound, but we’ll try to have fun with it all the same.On the positive side, WWE has a ton of new names involved in title matches. Zelina Vega and Nikki Cross are finally getting a bigger stage for their respective shows' women's titles, which should be a lot of fun. But even better: Candice LeRae and Kyle O’Reilly from NXT have been thrust into title contention for the next TakeOver. All of that, plus highlights from the G1 Climax and whether or not we care about Cody Rhodes’ brief return to AEW before he goes off to bubbles unknown to host a game show. Main EventThe first family of wrestling isn’t the McMahons or the Rhodes’; you could make a much better case that it’s the Anoa’i family and all the wrestlers it’s produced over the years. If there’s going to be too much wrestling, there may as well be some exciting parts mixed in. That means new champions like NXT Champion Finn Balor and AEW tag champions FTR. Plus Miro (formerly WWE’s Rusev) made his return to wrestling as part of AEW! We’ll explain why we’re excited about him… and why it looks like AEW might be relying on former WWE talent. Just a little. The Main EventNot a great week for either AEW or WWE taking care of their performers. While the language of the actual rules is a little vague, it still remains that WWE is looking to further restrict its wrestlers appearing on third party services like YouTube, Twitch, Cameo and more. We’ll explain why this feels like a gross move. And not to be outdone, Matt Hardy took a bad fall on Saturday that resulted in him going to the hospital. While AEW insists that he doesn’t have a concussion, we remain dubious that that they handled this the right way.The Three CountLindsey and Hal put over You Cannot Kill David Arquette.Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. But one thing that its consistently come short on is its women’s division. And while we’ve gotten used to the brief matches and limited character moments, it’s lately gotten worse. A women’s tag tournament with no TV time and a women’s fan community behind a $50 paywall pushed us to our limits and we’ve gotta talk about it.The Main Event:It was one of the longest running and transformative stories in the history of international wrestling: Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi as the Golden Lovers. You’ll help keep the show going and earn special bonus gifts, including special bonus episodes of Tights and Fights.Booyaka Booyaka! Six One Eye! What a disgusting show Extreme Rules was, right? But it wasn’t without its strong matches. We were incredibly interested in everything going on with Sasha vs. Asuka. A lot of people weren’t on board with the finish, but we’ll explain why we’re fine with a little screw ball in the right context.Plus we’ll get into AEW’s new star(?) Eddie Kingston and talk about why our opinions varied so much on the Young Bucks vs. Butcher and the Blade.Main EventSince the Pandemic shut down everything, WWE decided that pre-taped matches and mini-movies were an effective form of PPV content. And while we’ve gotten some great high marks like Edge vs. Randy Orton and The FireFly Funhouse, this past week gave is the low bar of the eye-for-an-eye match and the Swamp Fight. How long can WWE keep getting away with this? And is it worth pushing through the worst of this for the chance at better shows? The Three CountDanielle put over RJ City's feud against Randy Orton.  Lindsey put over FTR's interview about Black Lives Matter.Hal put over  Adam Cole vs. Pat McAfee.Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. Are we excited to see her moonsault her way through the red, yellow AND blue brands? Plus, Asuka had her official coming out party as RAW women’s champion and it featured Kairi Sane’s adorable recorder play. What other instruments should she be playing? Probably all of them right?Plus, we’ll discuss what Britt Baker’s injury means for AEW’s women’s division, discuss a bunch of the amazing promos that we saw this week and pay tribute to our lost hero Shad Gaspard. The Three CountDanielle put over a wrestling TikTok.Lindsey put over the silly and fun entrance of Karrion KrossHal put over The Undertaker's Last Ride documentaryHosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey KelkProduced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. We’ve got us a full house once again! Mike Eagle makes his triumphant return to join Hal, Danielle and Lindsey and he’s got a lot on his mind.First, he’ll tell us why these empty arena shows, regardless of the quality of the matches, are just not working for him. There’s almost a fundamental disconnect between him and the show when there’s not audience and he just can’t get past it. He’ll explain.Plus, we’ll go through some of the biggest things from wrestling from Sammy Guevara getting run down by a golf cart, Brandi Rhodes getting attacked by a snake and AJ Styles’ return from the boneyard. The Main EventJon Moxley is the second ever AEW Champion and seems to be set as a cornerstone of the company. In the years prior though, he was WWE’s Dean Ambrose who was by turns a champion and a lunatic.
