Leading Through Chaos: Embracing Change in Business and Life
Summary: Sometimes, the path to clarity begins in the chaos—trust yourself to find the order that’s waiting to emerge. We’ve all been navigating so much change recently, especially as women entrepreneurs. It’s clear that more than ever, we need to step up and help women-owned businesses break past barriers, especially when statistics are showing how many don’t even make it past the $100,000 mark.Personally, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how we approach challenges. As entrepreneurs, we face problems daily, but it’s in those moments of difficulty that we can find opportunities to take action, experiment, and evolve. In my own life right now, I’m sitting in a bit of chaos but I’ve learned over the years that out of this mess, order will emerge. Trusting the process is key.I want to know—what’s your environment like right now? Is it organized or chaotic? And are there things you need to shift to adapt to the changes happening around us?In this holiday season, I encourage you to connect with your loved ones, seek understanding, and be kind to those with different perspectives. Let’s grow together and make the most of this season.Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating in the U.S. And wherever you are, I’d love to hear what’s going on in your world. Show notes: 💸 The majority of women-owned businesses are not passing the 100,000 mark.👀 It is time for action and experimentation: what do you see in your environment? 06:17😍 Women are leaning into their innate leadership capabilities: listening to intuition and heart. 09:32🌺 What is changing around you: embracing changes and thinking about things that matter to you. 12:24 Links- Connect with Adrienne: www.sheleadsmedia.com- Listen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: www.sheleadspodcasts.com- Email us at: [email protected]

The Power of Healing with Oxygen: The Groundbreaking Future of Medicine Through Hyperbaric Therapy with Nicole Garrett
Nicole Garrett, a certified hyperbaric technician (CHT), is the CEO of Under Pressure Hyperbarics and a recognized leader in hyperbaric medicine, with extensive experience in commercial diving, dive medicine, and hyperbaric therapy. She began her career at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), treating complex conditions like crush injuries, air gas embolisms, and diabetic wounds, and was part of a Department of Defense study on traumatic brain injuries. With over a decade of experience, Nicole has overseen the development of hospital-based hyperbaric centers nationwide and continues to consult and educate professionals globally.Nicole shares how moving to California to train dolphins as a career choice led her to commercial diving and then to hyperbaric therapy. She discusses her journey into entrepreneurship and the challenges of starting a business, especially issues with income during the COVID pandemic. Hyperbaric treatments are amazing in treating carbon monoxide poisoning, diabetic wounds, radiation injuries, and even traumatic brain injuries. With dissolving oxygen into the body’s fluids, these treatments are stimulating stem cell release, and regenerating blood vessels has been a huge help for these and many more conditions. We can say that hyperbaric provides miraculous healing but also provides anti-aging and cosmetic benefits through the stimulation of collagen on a cellular level and preventing aging on a DNA level. Brain fog and lack of energy can become a thing of the past with these therapies, and they even help with Alzheimer’s. For all with autoimmune issues like arthritis or any kind of pain or inflammation, this is a place to find relief. After this conversation, we know why Nicole is so passionate about spreading the word about this therapy, bringing it to everyone through a franchise model, and changing the mindset about the power of our body to heal itself. Boosting our health with this revolutionary treatment is the groundbreaking future of medicine for fighting the effects of modern living.Notes:🏥 Nicole opened Under Pressure Hyperbarics: the first fully certified Medicare insurance facility that's not located in a hospital. 03:44🐬 From training dolphins and commercial diving to entrepreneurship. 06:49🧠 The mechanism of Hyperbarics: chamber gets the oxygen that you're breathing into all your body fluids. 10:50👩⚕️ Treatment of infants and prevention of injuries. 14:35🩻 It's used for cosmetic purposes: reversing aging on a DNA level, a special kind of anti-aging. 18:44🎯 Nicole's goal is to franchise Hyperbarics so it can be accessible everywhere. 21:13🫶 Your body decides what it needs to heal and prioritize: generally, the places with the most inflammation or acute injury. 24:29😍 Hyperbarics also helps women with breast cancer reconstruction and mastectomies. 25:29▶️ It usually starts with 10 treatments: how it works with autoimmune conditions. 28:33🥅 Nicole's next challenges are opening another chamber and secure funding. 32:26Links:Connect with Nicole: www.linkedin.com/in/nicole-garrett-93a37426Instagram: instagram.com/underpressurehyperbaricsWebsite: underpressure.com/hyperbaric-oxygen-therapy-beverly-hills-Connect with Adrienne: www.sheleadsmedia.com-Listen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: www.sheleadspodcasts.com>> "I love ❤️ Adrienne and The She Leads™ Podcast!” If that thought crossed your mind at any time while listening to our special show, can I ask you to please take a moment and give our podcast some love? As a professional corporate event emcee as well as a compelling keynote speaker. Building Confidence, Community, and Impact: How Women Can Support Each Other’s Success with Cate Luzio
We have to build a bigger influence up, down, and across, in all of our relationships.Cate Luzio, the founder and CEO of Luminary, a global professional education and networking platform addressing and impacting the systemic challenges faced by women throughout their professional journeys. Luminary now includes a 22,000 sq. ft. space in NYC and a virtual network. The world still operates differently for boys and girls. Women are smart and capable but often don’t fully believe in their abilities. While women are breaking down barriers, many of these barriers are internal. Overcoming imposter syndrome requires an “action-oriented” approach, along with subtle shifts in language and mindset. Using “I deserve” rather than “I need” brings up the confidence and that is crucial for becoming a visible role model who inspires others. Our leadership sets the tone for collective growth and support—finding win-win relationships and moving away from competition with other women is key. Cate’s experience with Tiffany Dufu illustrates how competitive situations can turn into opportunities for mutual growth. It is time to embrace your achievements unapologetically, and find a community where you get the support that you need and where you can also provide support for others. Pitching with Purpose: How to Craft a Winning Pitch Deck Story for Investors with Heather Lawver
As your company's founder, you are Beyoncé, and your slides in the pitch deck are your backup singers.Heather Lawver, the founder and CEO of Ceemo.ai, has helped underrepresented founders raise over $172 million in venture capital. Heather shares her entrepreneurial journey, starting from graduating high school at 12, launching her first startup at 13, and creating a platform designed to automate brand marketing and pitch deck creation, which helps founders look polished and market-ready.She says that pitch decks are like children's books for grown-ups who love money, while underrepresented founders often face a lack of early funding and expertise in branding and marketing. Heather decided to help fix this gap with Ceemo.ai. The approach to pitch decks is usually totally wrong because the founder, not the slides, should be the focus, as well as the emotional core that grabs an investor’s attention. Founders should rethink stories by viewing them from various angles, incorporating classic storytelling methods, and avoiding getting lost in the weeds, which is the first mistake entrepreneurs make.Unfortunately, research shows there is a difference in how messages are received. Male founders often receive more positive, promotional questions, while women are asked defensive, preventative questions, even when delivering the same pitch. Women bring knowledge, kindness, and empathy, and we don’t need to adopt toxic traits commonly attributed to male leaders. However, we often struggle with self-doubt and hesitation. It's time for women to reclaim their confidence and speak with the certainty and power we deserve. Language matters – saying "WHEN I reach my goals" instead of "IF I reach my goals" changes everything. Let’s shed doubt and take up space! Notes:⭐ Ceemo is preparing founders for pitch decks: underrepresented founders start ‘one day behind’ even if they have the funds. 03:37👔 If you don’t pitch to investors, you need strategic brand material for banks, family investors, and non-profits. 08:27🤯 Elements of a good pitch deck: you are the star, not the slides - you have one minute to show it all in the first two slides. 11:59⚠️ Founders usually get lost; these are the most important questions founders should ask to get a perfect pitch deck. 13:57🆚 Being aware of the problem vs the solution: emotional feeling is the key. 17:29😇 When the person is the base: you have that ‘specialness’ when you address friends and family, angels, pre-seed, and seed ventures. 19:34🤓 Ceemo will create an AI pitch generator: framing and creating unique stories while challenging the narrative owners created. 22:19🤷♀️ Differences in pitches between women and men: declarative, confident language vs. cautious and doubting. 30:19🏆 Stella Foundation is an amazing organization and Heather is their finalist this year. 37:09Links:Linkedin: linkedin.com/in/heatherlawver Website: ceemo.ai-Connect with Adrienne: www.sheleadsmedia.com-Listen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: www.sheleadspodcasts.com-🎟️ Buy tickets to She Leads LIVE 2024 here:https://bit.ly/SheLeadsLIVE2024 >> "I love ❤️ Adrienne and The She Leads™ Podcast!” If that thought crossed your mind at any time while listening to our special show, can I ask you to please take a moment and give our podcast some love? When you invest in women, you invest in all of humanity and the economy.Melissa Wallace is the CEO of Fierce Foundry and co-founder of Fivefoottwo Marketing. Melissa has more than 25 years of marketing experience across many different areas - B2B, consumer, and the creative agency world, with a focus on pioneering technologies and entertainment. In 2023 Melissa launched Fierce Foundry - the first-ever FemTech Venture studio designed to reduce and equalize the deficit and funding for female founders. Unlike traditional accelerators or incubators, a venture studio builds companies from idea to exit, offering full lifecycle support to founders. Melissa explained how Fierce Foundry provides both entrepreneurial and business expertise to help women founders launch and scale their companies, with the goal of driving these companies to exit and reinvest in other female-led ventures, creating a "flywheel" effect.Male-focused startup model doesn't work as well for women entrepreneurs. Women face different challenges and need a tailored approach to success, one that better reflects our experiences and mindsets that don’t have drinking bourbon and smoking cigars mindset.Women also have more phases in their lives, need reinventing, and as Melissa stated even middle of the life retirement. Reality is just different and career paths and models should be different as well. For Melissa resilience is a key trait for women in business but self-care is a critical component of success in entrepreneurship. We are all equal, but we are different and that is why women should support other women in business, from investing in female-founded businesses to simply creating space for women to thrive without burning out. Show notes: 👩💼 Melissa has been a huge proponent for women for decades: traction on the prototype was not possible, so she started bridging the gap through her venture studio. (3:59)⭐ What is a venture studio: building products with creators to de-risk the investment, while incubators and accelerators only offer partial support. (08:15)🤩 How the venture studio is funded: crowdfunding, donations, family offices, VCs, and angel investors. (13:07)🆚 Female vs. male model of doing business: women need a model with flexibility. (16:48)👠 Two phases of women’s lives: saving, reinventing, and being resilient. (20:49)🗝️ Learning about yourself through entrepreneurship: mindset, self-care, and time management are key pillars. (24:58)⚡Positive stress is energy that pushes and motivates you: learn your capabilities and work within boundaries that keep you happy and healthy. (27:24)🌷 Learning from being laid off: take the opportunity to rethink your direction and focus on your happiness. (29:43)🎤 Melissa will be a panelist at She Leads LIVE 2024: her membership includes a community for female founders. Learn to Monetize Your Skills With Side–Gigs, with Christine Schaub
Women are natural multitaskers and can benefit from monetizing their downtime if needed.Christine Schaub is the author of the book Queen of the Side Hustle: Unleashing Your Potential for Extra Income. She makes her living with six side gigs, including hosting the award-winning web series Come On Over. She co-authored the number one Amazon Best Selling memoir, and was a former press secretary for a US congressman. Christine also has a background in corporate communications within healthcare, pharmaceutical, real estate, and entertainment companies. Women are master multitaskers. Christine explains all the options and skills women accumulate throughout life, often not recognizing these skills as opportunities for side gig income. She shares how to learn more skills without financial risks and how to strategize for success in the side gig economy. The side gig economy offers freedom and flexibility but lacks benefits like healthcare so keeping corporate jobs with side hustling is a win-win combination. However, just like any job, side hustling can lead to burnout, so balancing multiple side jobs and learning when to say no is crucial. The key is to experiment with side hustles to ensure financial stability. Be flexible and open to all avenues to maximize your potential. Notes👑 Christine is great at everything except sports: putting together many side hustles. 03:34🧁 How to find your market and niche: know your limitations and volunteer to try it first. 07:50⏰ Christine has six side gigs, and she sometimes stacks them all in one week: the power of time management skills. 11:08🤹♀️ The best multi-taskers are stay-at-home moms: women are multi-taskers by nature, and this is a money-making opportunity. 15:24💲 Reading and getting paid: all options for side gig jobs. 18:37🤓 Choosing your work zone will determine your side hustles: skills in marketing yourself or finding help, also make a difference. 24:24🏥 Health insurance and freelancing: don’t leave corporate for side hustling but experiment with monetizing your downtime. 28:31🔥 Don’t burn out yourself by being an overachiever: quitting is not a bad thing if it maintains your sanity. 36:08🌸 Learn skills in corporate environments, which can lead to career growth: free classes in your company or volunteering in other companies are great learning opportunities. 44:22📘 Christine has QR codes with lots of working sheets and webinars. 49:36LINKS: Come On Over website: www.comeonovershow.comQueen of the Side Hustle: Unleashing Your Potential for Extra Incomehttps://amzn.to/3LKVOS5 Connect with Adrienne: https://www.sheleadsmedia.comListen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: https://www.sheleadspodcasts.comJoin Us at She Leads LIVE 2024 in NYC - Oct. 18& 19th. https://bit.ly/SheLeadsLIVE2024> "I love ❤️ Adrienne and The She Leads™ Podcast!” If that thought crossed your mind at any time while listening to our special show, can I ask you to please take a moment and give our podcast some love? How Women Can Master Business Exits with Carrie Kerpen
Understanding how to build a sellable business is a game changer. Carrie Kerpen is the founder of The Whisper Group, an exit-readiness advisory firm dedicated exclusively to women-owned businesses.Carrie has built and sold one of the world's first social media agencies and has continued helping female founders build and sell their businesses and live their lives fully. She is on a mission to get as much money in the hands of women as possible. Carrie has been a great friend and supporter of Adrienne and the She Leads LIVE conferences from the early days and has contributed her wisdom consistently.Carrie says that women often start businesses driven by passion but rarely think about how they will exit. It's imperative to consider an exit strategy from day one. Creating sellable businesses rather than focusing on immediate monetization is a key point Carrie is very passionate about. She says that so much about exiting is not just about the business but about us personally and being honest and relatable rather than projecting an overly polished image. Many business owners face regret post-exit due to lack of financial planning. Women must realize that small businesses can exit with six times more value and we need to embrace the idea of extracting wealth from our businesses in order to provide the security and power for ourselves and our families that we so rightly deserve.Notes:🌸 The visualization exercise at the first She Leads LIVE event changed many lives: the power of women circles. 03:37🤯 Getting married in front of 5000 people on the Minor League New York Mets field: sponsorships and charity funds raised and the birth of Carrie’s SM agency. 06:30⏰ Timing is crucial: people who are prepared to capitalize on starting movements are the people who truly succeed. 10:45🌟 The growth of Carrie’s company Likable Media was fast: switching gears to a side project and finding her passion and life purpose. 11:51🔑 In The Whisper Group, women are sharing real experiences on business exits: providing women with the freedom to make choices is the key. 16:07🙃 Do you think about how your business will end? The education-then-monetization approach was mind-shifting for Carrie. 19:33⚠️ Challenges of exit strategies: plan your exit properly to avoid regret for selling the business. 23:52✌️ We should normalize seeing exits for 6-7 figures for smaller businesses. 26:497️⃣ Seven tenets are required to build a healthy, scalable and saleable business. 29:50😇 Anticipatory anxiety is so much worse than actual reality. 31:42👩💼 Being a businesswoman, leader, and mom: the trick is having all the family participate in the work and family life. 33:19🛑 Prioritizing business brings guilt in women: we put things on ourselves and that is just too much. 35:46Links: Connect with Carrie: www.linkedin.com/in/carriekerpenWebsite: www.wearethewhispergroup.comPersonal website: www.carriekerpen.comGap reports: www.closetheexitgap.com Connect with Adrienne: https://www.sheleadsmedia.comListen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: https://www.sheleadspodcasts.comJoin Us at She Leads LIVE 2024 in NYC - Oct. 17 - 19th. The Power of Cultivating a High-Performance Team and The Right Mindset with Victoria Hajjar
To have a successful business, the first person we need to learn to lead is ourselves.Victoria is the CEO of Ugli Ventures, a marketing consultancy for 6-figure female founders, and a podcaster. Victoria focuses on female entrepreneurs and optimizing sales and marketing strategies, team building and leadership development to establish sustainable, profitable 7-figure enterprises. She has cultivated global brands across various sectors and countries including the US, the UK, China, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Mexico. Over the course of her career, Victoria has observed that men typically possess a mindset wherein they’re less likely to feel the need to perfect every aspect themselves before delegating tasks. Contrastingly - and generally, women entrepreneurs often feel the need to ‘do it all’ and end up focused on lower level tasks that hinder their businesses momentum. To move more efficiently towards success, it is essential to understand your business from a higher strategic level, envision what success looks like, and rise above the weeds. This high-level perspective allows one to more easily build a scalable marketing machine.Victoria believes women must do all they can to learn to delegate more effectively and focus on team building to drive business growth. The commitment mindset is something every business owner needs: create the goal, write real numbers down on paper, and check in on them every single week so you can adjust and keep the eye on the prize!Let’s all commit to delegation for success!Notes:👩💼 Victoria is on a mission to help women entrepreneurs to success by focusing on a more feminine approach to running businesses rather than adopting the male way of working. 04:13🤷♀️ How to create a successful marketing department: don’t do things alone - nurture your team. 09:38🗝️ Delegation is the key to growth. 16:27🧐 Hiring a team when you don’t have enough funds: who do you need in the team? 21:07🧠 Setting your mindset up for success. Inner Prosperity as The Key to Financial Success with Ruchi Pinniger
Our inside wholeness is what creates prosperity.Ruchi Pinniger is a former Wall Street executive and founder at Watch Her Prosper. Her company provides financial mentorship, support, and services to women-led service-based businesses. After personal and family struggles, Ruchi shared a story about how one Prada bag taught her that true prosperity is in inner wholeness rather than material possessions.Even women would rather talk about their death than money, Ruchi explains that financial support and help are crucial to all businesses of all sizes. The numbers are data and when used properly can show a path one business should take, but creating a safe, non-judgmental space for women to discuss money is crucial for practical financial planning and support. Not only the financial support matters for business success but also our internal beliefs and self-care. Ruchi’s RIR concept (Recognize, Interrupt, Reframe) helps women shift from disempowering to empowering thoughts about money and success. This involves recognizing negative self-talk, interrupting it, and reframing it with positive affirmations. Both personal and societal conditioning are tough for women, and there is a need for a holistic approach that will include work but also balance it with well-being and self-compassion. Having more spaciousness and ease in our lives will lead to greater success. Reframing our habits and beliefs is the key and anything is possible for us after that. Notes:👧 Growing up without parents after 15: learning from an immigrant mom reinventing herself. 03:34🌺 What is prosperity and how to get it: well-being, our spirituality, and then our relationship with people and with money. 07:00⚠️ Asking for support is crucial for business owners: numbers are data that provide info for the next steps.10:19😇 Planning and projecting in business: self-care is the first step in working things out. 13:58⭐ Making yourself a priority impacts your business: let’s find time for ourselves. 17:17⚡ Paying attention to the language you use with yourself: reframing it with the RIR concept. 18:41🧠 Subconscious thoughts are the root of our deeds and actions: everything starts in your mind. 24:30👀 Reframing the shame about loans: look at things from a different perspective. 33:30💎 The power of gratitude and trust: getting through the hard situations in higher vibration. 34:32 LinksConnect with Ruchi: linkedin.com/in/ruchipinniger Website: watchherprosper.comConnect with Adrienne: www.sheleadsmedia.comListen to podcasts for women by women on the She Leads Podcast Network: www.sheleadspodcasts.com >> "I love ❤️ Adrienne and The She Leads™ Podcast!” If that thought crossed your mind at any time while listening to our special show, can I ask you to please take a moment and give our podcast some love? Harmonizing Leadership: Energy Healing in Corporate Worlds with Alycia Diggs-Chavis
Alycia Diggs-Chavis, is an energy healer, intuitive coach, and CEO of BlueViolet Energy Healing. She shares her journey from studying international business at Harvard to working in corporate leadership for over 20 years. After she experienced the issues of becoming an empty nester, she transitioned to entrepreneurship and working with people in a completely different way. Through self-discovery and working with a coach, Alicia found her new calling in energy healing and became a certified master energy healer. Alycia helps leaders reduce stress and find their core through custom energy work in corporate environments. Corporate wellness is very important because as human beings we don’t leave our lives behind, but take it with us to work as well. That is why self-awareness, growth, and achieving the state of flow are crucial for all leaders and their success. Women especially need to step outside their roles built for everyone else but themselves. Women just don't build the same type of relationships with themselves as with other people. That is why it is crucial to look inward and figure out who we really are, make ourselves centered, and walk with confidence. A need to take time to reconnect with ourselves is huge and results in peace, confidence in decision-making, and getting back to balance is mirroring directly to the business success.Only when you're learning yourself - you're loving yourself, you're investing in yourself. When you are showing yourself to others - you're investing in others. Let’s heal ourselves and the whole world.
