109: Healing Single Vs. In A Relationship With Samm Murphy
Whether single or in a relationship, healing is a deeply personal journey. Today, Sabrina and guest Samm Murphy emphasize the importance of curiosity, self-awareness, and connection throughout the process.
Sabrina highlights how being single can create space for self-discovery, allowing individuals to break habitual patterns and focus on their inner child work. Samm shares that while healing in a relationship adds complexity, it also offers unique opportunities for growth through triggers and mutual support. They agree that healing isn’t about reaching a final destination but embracing a continuous process where triggers become opportunities to evolve.
Sabrina and Samm discuss how relationships can provide evidence to counter negative core beliefs, fostering change when both partners are committed to growth. They underscore the importance of communication and aligning on values, emphasizing that understanding a partner’s unique needs while staying true to oneself is vital. For those single and healing, Sabrina advises recognizing patterns and shifting beliefs, while Samm encourages curiosity about what triggers anxiety and exploring new behaviors.
Together, they stress that relationships require intentional effort, appreciation, and a shared vision, creating an environment where both individuals can continue to heal and thrive. Whether single or partnered, Sabrina and Samm advocate for compassion, openness, and the courage to embrace imperfection as integral to the healing journey.

108: The Messy Middle: Navigating Uncertainty in the 1-3 Months Of Dating
Welcome to part 2 of this series, in this episode, Sabrina dives into the 1-3 month stage of dating, where deeper emotions and unexpected triggers often emerge. She emphasizes the importance of self-trust and self-regulation, explaining that dating anxiety is natural but should be managed with tools like grounding exercises and clear communication.
Sabrina advises acknowledging your triggers without projecting them onto your partner, instead taking the opportunity to explore them personally. Practicing boundaries and fostering self-regulation are key—rather than seeking constant validation, work on inner resilience. Sabrina stresses that anxious daters need to reframe their responses to uncertainties, understanding that not every unmet expectation is a crisis.
At two to three months, it's appropriate to discuss exclusivity and shared values, as consistency and emotional availability become essential. Sabrina encourages being honest about needs and expectations while allowing space for the relationship to develop naturally.

107: Are They Avoidant, Narcissistic, or Just An A*shole? With Joe Nucci
Sabrina welcomes Joe Nucci to discuss dating and relationship dynamics, starting with the misconception that location is the root of dating struggles. Joe notes that while cities like New York and Colorado have distinct dating cultures, true obstacles often stem from avoidance and unresolved personal issues.
They explore how self-acceptance bridges awareness and healing, stressing that dating is a skill, and choosing openness is key. They highlight the difference between connection and attachment, explaining that safety and validation deepen attraction. True growth, they agree, comes from intentional communication and addressing underlying issues in relationships.

106: From First Date to What’s Next? How to Navigate the 0-1 Month Stage of Dating
Dating can be emotionally intense, even for those who've worked on themselves. Sabrina explains that dating triggers are normal, but trusting your instincts is crucial. Building a healthy relationship takes patience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. Distinguish between anxiety (which spirals) and intuition (which feels calm).
Set boundaries, stick to routines, and invest your emotions wisely. To manage overthinking, try journaling and mindfulness. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can help break negative thought patterns. Stay present, be vulnerable without seeking validation, and take things slow. Focus on self-awareness and self-trust for a healthy start.

105: Why You're Not Making Progress In Your Healing Journey With Masha Kay
In this episode, Masha joins Sabrina to dive into why so many struggle to see real progress in their healing journeys. They explore how lasting change starts with radical accountability and self-regulation—shifting away from seeking external validation and advice.
Masha and Sabrina discuss how true growth means taking responsibility without self-blame, focusing on self-awareness and setting realistic expectations. They explain the importance of regulating the nervous system, responding mindfully rather than reacting impulsively, especially in relationships. Together, they emphasize engaging authentically with your inner child and building grounding practices that align with your needs.
Healing, they argue, isn’t about chasing new strategies but using the resources you already have to foster an empowered foundation for personal and relational growth.

104: Communicating Your Needs And Navigating Conflict
In this solo episode, Sabrina emphasizes the importance of communicating needs and navigating conflict in relationships. She wants individuals to trust themselves and be honest, even when difficult conversations feel uncomfortable. A challenge many face is overcoming core belief and facing fear of abandonment or rejection, which often leads people to avoid addressing their concerns. Sabrina explains that using your voice is crucial because your partner should want to hear your opinions and understand your needs. Effective communication involves setting boundaries, using “I” statements, and addressing behaviors rather than criticizing character to foster healthier dialogue. She highlights the toxic effects of contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling, which can undermine trust and connection, and encourages couples to actively listen, stay curious, and be consistent in communication. Sabrina advises addressing issues in person rather than over text, being specific and direct about your needs, and choosing the right time for discussions to avoid escalating conflict. She also notes the importance of repairing conflict rather than just avoiding it, as healthy relationships are built on the ability to repair and grow through challenges, not simply on the absence of conflict. Ultimately, Sabrina believes that navigating conflict with openness and honesty strengthens the bond between partners.

103: Situationships And Self-Love: How To Stop Settling With Quinlan Walther
In today’s conversation, Quinlan and Sabrina talk about situationships, self-love, and self-trust. A situationship is defined in this conversation as an undefined, noncommittal relationship where one person desires more commitment than the other. Sabrina shares her personal experiences with situationships, highlighting the lessons she learned, such as the critical role of communication and how past emotional suppression from childhood influenced her approach to dating. Quinlan emphasizes the importance of self-love, explaining that you can’t fully share yourself with others until you love and respect yourself first. They discuss the need to set boundaries and have the courage to leave situations that don’t serve you, trusting yourself to make the right decisions. The conversation also touches on toxic relationships and how they can feel familiar or even appealing, especially when they reaffirm unhealthy core beliefs. Quinlan and Sabrina agree that true growth comes from valuing yourself, recognizing your worth, and committing to personal development. Exiting a situationship requires reclaiming your power, shifting the narrative, and focusing on your own journey rather than on the other person. Ultimately, self-love and self-trust involve validating your emotions, forgiving yourself for past mistakes, and making choices that align with your own well-being. By prioritizing these aspects, you can navigate relationships with greater clarity and confidence.

102: Navigating The Highs And Lows Of Dating And Relationships With Dr. Scott Lyons
Dr. Scott Lyons joins Sabrina to discuss the high highs and low lows of dating, focusing on the addiction to drama in relationships. He and Sabrina explore how unresolved trauma can lead to seeking emotionally unavailable partners or chaotic relationships, mirroring past experiences. They highlight how many people are drawn to emotional intensity, mistaking it for love, and how this creates a cycle of self-abandonment, as individuals chase someone else’s emotional rollercoaster instead of staying grounded in themselves. Trauma often causes people to confuse present and past experiences, making it difficult to separate healthy dynamics from old emotional patterns. Scott emphasizes that healing begins when the red flags of chaotic relationships no longer feel attractive. He also introduces the concept of "memory spread," where past emotional triggers amplify reactions in the present, causing unnecessary tension. Sabrina and Scott discuss the importance of co-regulating with a partner, articulating needs before stress builds, and learning to enjoy the calm and stability that healthy love brings. Scott notes that for some, calmness may feel unsafe, as they are habituated to chaos and seek it out to fill their anxiety. Ultimately, Sabrina and Scott both agree that true connection is built on curiosity and communication, and that chasing emotional intensity—like butterflies or drama—keeps individuals from experiencing the deeper, more stable intimacy of a healthy relationship.

101: Chasing Potential And Putting Them On A Pedestal With Silvy Khoucasian
Sabrina and Silvy sit down to discuss what can cause the tendency to chase potential in relationships and put partners on pedestals. They offer practical tips for managing these patterns. Silvy, a relationship coach, reflects on her own journey with fearful-avoidant attachment after a long-term relationship, explaining how unresolved childhood trauma led her to project insecurities and set unrealistic standards. She and her husband learned to recognize their vulnerabilities and communicate better, a skill crucial for those in anxious-avoidant dynamics. Sabrina and Silvy emphasize that placing someone on a pedestal, which is linked to attachment wounds, prevents true intimacy by idealizing a partner and avoiding vulnerability. They explain that this behavior can stem from childhood but becomes harmful in adult relationships, blocking authentic connection. To overcome this, look at relationships objectively, understanding your emotional needs, and communicating honestly, ensuring that your attachment style and role in the dynamic align with healthy, balanced intimacy.

100: Imposter Syndrome, Self doubt, and Why You Need To Bet On Yourself.
In a special 100th episode, Sabrina dives into imposter syndrome, surrendering to the process, and the importance of betting on yourself. She shares her personal journey of hitting rock bottom and realizing she wasn’t taking control of her life, focusing too much on external validation. Sabrina discusses how imposter syndrome, often rooted in perfectionism and fear of rejection, can hinder progress. She stresses the importance of self-compassion and setting personal goals. Sabrina emphasizes the need to show your true self, rather than pretending to be what others expect. Mindfulness and meditation can aid in managing thoughts and reducing anxiety, allowing individuals to return to themselves. By cultivating self-efficacy, setting small goals, and using affirmations, Sabrina talks about betting on yourself and taking risks, no matter how small, trusting that you already have the internal tools to achieve your goals. Ultimately, the journey is about how you navigate challenges, not avoid them, and recognizing that every experience shapes who you are today.

98: Overcoming Anxiety, Stress, Doubts, And Fears With David Ghiyam
This week, Sabrina sits down with David Ghiyam to dive deep into the principles of Kabbalah and how it applies to personal growth and relationships. Both share personal insights, with Sabrina emphasizing that challenges are invitations to grow and expand her capacity to handle life’s difficulties. She reflects on how her own journey has pushed her to step into her power, even when it’s uncomfortable, and sees pain as a necessary part of becoming a vessel for greater things. David builds on this, explaining that Kabbalah helps people understand the root causes of pain and how it can serve as a path to transformation, rather than just reacting to it. They discuss how people often self-sabotage in relationships due to limiting beliefs, and how surrendering negativity and taking responsibility for one's own energy is key to attracting what you truly desire. Sabrina admits that fear and discomfort can sometimes hold her back, but recognizing and embracing those feelings has been essential in her growth. Together, they explore how self-awareness, making intentional choices, and seeing challenges as opportunities can shift life toward a more fulfilling, empowered reality.

97: How To Actually Change Your Life With Liz Moody
Liz Moody, a journalist turned podcaster and author, sits down with Sabrina to talk about how to grow into the person you want to be. Liz shares some of her personal journey and emphasizes saying yes to yourself. She and Sabrina encourage people to start by figuring out what they truly want, free from external pressures, and to identify their motivations. Liz suggests reflecting on life from the perspective of one's deathbed to prioritize what really matters. Both Liz and Sabrina talk about the need for granular clarity in relationships and life goals, advocating for commitment devices to help follow through on intentions. Building self-trust is crucial, and this can be done by making quick decisions, keeping small promises, and embracing discomfort. Liz also highlights the importance of setting structural boundaries, such as limiting phone use, and choosing "your hard" while maintaining perspective on bigger life priorities. Finally, Sabrina and Liz encourage practicing gratitude and romanticizing the little things in life, as focusing on the positives can rewire the brain for happiness.

96: Managing Reactions To Emotions And Sitting In The Discomfort
On today’s solo episode Sabrina delves into the often-overlooked concept of sitting with uncomfortable emotions. She shares personal stories to make the topic relatable, emphasizing that emotional discomfort is not something to resist but to explore. By understanding what’s happening in your body and identifying where the discomfort lies, you can regulate your emotions more effectively. Sabrina explains that managing emotions isn’t about eliminating discomfort but using tools like mindfulness, breathwork, and self-compassion to engage your prefrontal cortex and create space for clarity. It's crucial to identify where you've learned to suppress feelings, as unresolved emotions can hinder growth. Sabrina advises acknowledging sensations, naming emotions, and reparenting yourself to build resilience and avoid spiraling. By practicing cognitive reappraisal, mindfulness, and gradual exposure, you can reframe challenges and make room for growth. She also highlights the importance of emotional validation, respecting others’ feelings, and setting boundaries in relationships. Ultimately, building emotional resilience requires self-compassion, allowing yourself to feel and process discomfort, and understanding that emotional regulation is a gradual, ongoing journey.

95: Catfishing, High Value Dating, and Spilling The Tea With Kamie Crawford
Joining Sabrina today is Kamie Crawford, diving deep into relationships, touching on dating dynamics, attachment styles, and red flags. Kamie reflects on her anxious attachment stemming from an absent parent and how therapy has helped her move towards a secure attachment. Sabrina and Kamie agree that while disagreements are natural, constant arguing in relationships isn't healthy. Kamie, who dates someone with a child, emphasizes respecting the child and communicating openly with both parents. The two discuss the importance of taking things slow, not rushing into relationships, and being mindful of red flags. In their 30s, both women now prioritize meaningful qualities in partners over superficial traits they may have focused on in their 20s. They also touch on the growing confusion around gender roles in dating, where some men believe they are the prize, and how bad advice from people with no relationship experience can misguide. On the topic of catfishing, they urge caution online, recommending looking into someone before meeting them, especially if they’re new. Ultimately, they stress the importance of investing in yourself, setting healthy boundaries, and choosing partners who genuinely align with your values rather than succumbing to societal pressures or superficial expectations.

94: Disorganized Attachment In Dating And Relationships With Thais Gibson
Sitting down with Sabrina today is Thais Gibson, co-founder of The Personal Development School, which focuses on attachment styles: secure, anxious, dismissive avoidant, and fearful avoidant (or disorganized). She and Sabrina talk about the different attachment styles to lay the groundwork for this conversation. Secure attachment develops when a caregiver is attuned, leading to fulfilling relationships. Anxious attachment often arises when parents are loving but absent, leading to fear of abandonment. Dismissive avoidants experience emotional neglect and struggle with feeling trapped. Fearful avoidants grow up in chaotic environments, resulting in conflicting desires for love and connection while fearing them. Thais shares her experience with disorganized attachment, where strong feelings of love triggered fear, causing her to shut down and push people away. Sabrina and Thais emphasize the importance of understanding attachment styles, showing empathy for internal struggles, and maintaining clear, kind communication. In relationships, anxious and avoidant types can work together if both are willing to grow and communicate effectively. Healing disorganized attachment involves reprogramming core wounds, understanding personal needs, and learning self-regulation and healthy boundaries. The journey is challenging but transformative.

93: Taking Things Personally
In today’s solo episode, Sabrina dives into why people take things personally and how to stop doing so. She shares a personal story about being ghosted and the person later reaching out to apologize to emphasize that a lot of the time, it’s about the other person and not you. Sabrina talks about how taking things personally often stems from assuming something about the other person, which can trigger core wounds and childhood experiences where you might have blamed yourself. This reaction can serve as a way to either shift blame or control the narrative, but it ultimately hinders your growth. To overcome this, she advises slowing down, being curious, and practicing self-awareness to better understand your own emotions. Understanding your attachment style and cognitive biases can also help, as they influence how you interpret others' actions and events. Sabrina highlights the role of the amygdala in emotional responses and how social rejection can feel like physical pain due to its evolutionary roots. Ultimately, she encourages listeners to focus on their self-worth, establish healthy boundaries, and not let others dictate their value, reminding them that self-worth comes from within, not from external validation.

92: What It Actually Means To Be In A Secure Relationship With Julie Menanno
Julie Menanno is on the show today, sitting down with Sabrina to talk about the interplay of attachment and relationships. Julie emphasizes that healthy relationships aren't about accommodating each other's insecurities or avoiding triggers but about engaging in mutual growth and healing. She and Sabrina challenge the narrative that one must lower their expectations or avoid partners who trigger them. Instead, they advocate for using those triggers as opportunities for personal and relational growth. A crucial part of building a secure relationship involves self-work—being emotionally balanced, recognizing and regulating your own emotions, and being able to reach out for support when it’s needed. Julie highlights the importance of feeling seen and heard in a relationship, as well as the need for both partners to be committed to growth and co-regulation during conflicts. Drawing from her own experience, she shares how communication, expressing needs, and working through challenges together have been key to maintaining a strong relationship. Today’s conversation underscores that a secure relationship, while more comfortable, requires ongoing effort, self-awareness, and the ability to repair and grow together, especially in the face of life's inevitable stresses and traumas.

91: Rejection, Abandonment, And The Origin Wound With Vienna Pharaon
On this week’s episode, Sabrina chats with Vienna Pharaon, a licensed family and marital therapist. They delve into the concept of origin wounds and explore how childhood experiences shape our lives and influence our relationships. Vienna talks about how unresolved pain often manifests as patterns in our daily lives, and urges us not to get stuck in the past but to acknowledge and understand it. Origin wounds can stem from issues of worthiness, trust, belonging, prioritization, and safety, and recognizing these can help us heal. Sabrina and Vienna highlight the importance of examining the roles of our caregivers in our upbringing, noting that even those who were less involved can cause significant pain. Healing involves grieving and witnessing these wounds, allowing us to make different choices. Understanding how our childhood affects our present relationships, particularly how fear of abandonment and rejection play into these core wounds, is crucial. Vienna advises against comparing our pain to others, affirming that even without major trauma, our wounds are valid and deserve attention. She and Sabrina also discuss how these wounds impact our self-worth and the way we relate to others, suggesting that by addressing and understanding our behaviors and patterns, we can break destructive cycles and build healthier relationships.

90: How To Heal After A Toxic Relationship And How To Find Yourself With Ginger Dean
Ginger Dean joins Sabrina to discuss toxic relationships, healing, and personal growth. Ginger, who experienced an abusive marriage, emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s role in recurring unhealthy relationships to reclaim power and avoid rationalizing red flags. Healing involves recognizing and changing dysfunctional behaviors learned in childhood which is crucial for addressing specific issues. Emotional awareness and open communication are fundamental, as is setting boundaries and asking questions early in a relationship to ensure compatibility. They highlight the necessity of self-validation, maintaining a fulfilling life outside of dating, and rebuilding self-trust. Recognizing when to leave unhealthy relationships is essential for achieving genuine happiness and health. Ginger and Sabrina stress that personal growth involves making decisions aligned with one's values and being willing to walk away from bad behavior. They caution against the need for external validation, especially from random strangers on the internet, and encourage a focus on self-compassion and understanding one's history to break the cycle of dysfunction. Ultimately, trusting oneself and making informed, self-honoring decisions are key to thriving after toxic relationships.

89: Why You Overthink And How To Stop
Sabrina shares her journey with overthinking, explaining that it often arises from the brain's attempt to protect us through fear and coping mechanisms learned in childhood. This process involves the amygdala's fear response, which can shut down the prefrontal cortex, causing further overthinking and misinterpreting neutral signals as negative in dating, leading to a self-fulfilling prophecy of rejection. To combat overthinking, Sabrina suggests identifying triggers and recognizing patterns, practicing mindfulness, engaging in brain-stimulating activities, and using cognitive behavioral therapy to reframe negative thoughts. She emphasizes validating feelings while learning to trust oneself, noting the difference between overthinking and intuition. Overthinking can cause analysis paralysis, fear of rejection, negative self-talk, unrealistic expectations, and inhibition of spontaneity, eroding self-confidence and preventing authentic interactions. By addressing root causes, fostering self-compassion, and being curious about triggers, individuals can manage overthinking, enjoy relationships, and show up more fully in their lives without constant fear of negative outcomes.

88: The Spark, Closure, and Debunking Dating Myths With Britt Frank
In a discussion debunking dating myths, neuropsychotherapist Britt Frank and host Sabrina explore how the brain is involved with these false ideas. They challenge the myth that knowing why someone behaves a certain way will fix a relationship, emphasizing the importance of personal emotional responses over external explanations. They also address the misconception that triggers are others' responsibilities, suggesting that personal reactions need self-examination. The idea that being single will solve problems is debunked, encouraging curiosity about triggers instead. The duo highlights that texting doesn’t necessarily indicate relationship intentions, stressing the need for contextual understanding and balanced brain chemistry in early dating stages. Finally, they discuss that people don’t change for others unless it aligns with their core values, and adults can't truly be abandoned but can be left, advocating for personal agency in relationships.

86: Boundaries vs. Jealousy: Navigating Trust and Insecurity With Therapy Jeff
Jeff Gunther, known on social media as Therapy Jeff, joins Sabrina to discuss themes of jealousy in dating relationships, drawing from insights in his new book on how to show up authentically in relationships. They explore retroactive jealousy—obsessing over a partner's past relationships—and share personal experiences, highlighting that such jealousy often stems from personal insecurities and lack of self-worth. Jeff advises imagining trust in your partner and addressing insecurities openly rather than projecting them. They discuss the importance of distinguishing between boundaries and jealousy, noting that boundaries should come from a healthy place. Communication and self-compassion are key to managing jealousy. Jeff explains that jealousy is not inherently unhealthy but can be justified if a partner's actions are inappropriate. Lastly, they address the misconception that a lack of jealousy indicates disinterest, emphasizing the importance of direct communication and reassurance.

85: Why You're Hung Up On Someone Who Doesn't Want To Be With You
On the first episode of The Sabrina Zohar Show, your host, Sabrina, explores the reasons we sometimes pursue people who don’t want us and emphasizes the necessity of healing and self-empowerment. Rejection is painful, but it’s crucial to understand that it’s not a reflection of our worth. Sabrina explains how love that isn’t reciprocated sparks neurochemical changes, causing excitement and a dopamine rush, while breakups lead to cortisol spikes and emotional lows. To counteract this, she suggests activities like walking, journaling, and spending time with friends. She delves into attachment styles, noting that secure individuals can handle breakups better, while avoidant and anxious types may struggle more. Sabrina encourages listeners to reframe their narratives, accept their feelings, and focus on self-worth rather than taking rejection personally. She highlights the importance of recognizing cognitive dissonance and fantasy bonds, urging listeners to reflect on their past relationships honestly. By doing so, we can break free from unhealthy patterns and create space for healthier, more fulfilling connections.

83: How To Rewire Your Brain With Nicole Neuroscience
From across the world, Nicole Vignola (aka Nicole Neuroscience), neuroscientist, organizational consultant, and author, is in the studio to talk with Sabrina about the impact of neuroplasticity on daily life, particularly in the context of dating and relationships. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to form new connections, is reinforced by consistency and can help change unproductive patterns learned in childhood. For instance, frequent texting early in a relationship can create anxiety and a dopamine-driven expectation that meeting in person often fails to meet. This mismatch occurs because the brain anticipates rewards from predictable behaviors like texting, but prefers the unpredictability that real-life interactions offer. Nicole emphasizes that changing these patterns involves understanding and leveraging the brain’s mechanisms, such as using visualization and breathing exercises to manage stress and avoid catastrophizing. By rewiring our brains to handle emotions better, we can build resilience and improve our relationships. Compassion for oneself during this process is crucial, as positive behavioral changes foster better outcomes.

Flying solo today, Sabrina sits down to chat about handling differences in dating, which involves open communication and understanding personal boundaries. Sabrina emphasizes the importance of discussing key topics early on, such as beliefs, future goals, and financial habits. She shares personal experiences to highlight that relationships often end due to incompatible needs rather than lack of love. It's crucial to focus on finding a partner whose core values align with yours rather than trying to change someone. Sabrina advises discussing lifestyle choices, like diet and alcohol, as well as family dynamics to ensure compatibility. By being true to yourself and addressing potential differences openly, you can build a genuine, long-term partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.

80: Texting in Dating Pt. 2
Flying solo today for this special episode, Sabrina is talking about texting while dating. Sabrina's personal experience highlights that the anxiety around texting persists even when trying to disconnect, but it's how you handle these feelings that matter. Texting can trigger black-and-white thinking, where unmet expectations validate negative core beliefs, leading to anxiety. Understanding that people have different texting habits and showing up authentically in relationships is crucial. Focusing on overall relationship dynamics is important rather than just texting patterns. Building security and confidence helps alleviate anxiety. Compromise is key, especially when texting habits differ between partners. Effective communication, setting realistic expectations, and addressing concerns with evidence can help manage texting-related anxieties. Ultimately, texting should not be the foundation of a relationship, and flexibility, understanding, and personal growth are essential for healthy interactions.

79: Beyond "Yes": Breaking the Cycle of People-Pleasing as a Trauma Response with Matthias Barker
Sabrina sits down with Matthias Barker for a second time to dive into the detrimental effects of people-pleasing, a common trauma response where individuals regulate others to feel safe themselves. Unlike genuine empathy, people-pleasing stems from fear and often involves manipulation. Barker emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and confronting dysfunction rather than avoiding it, as true safety doesn't come from constant monitoring out of fear. He advises distinguishing between needs and anxiety, advocating for acceptance and mutual attunement in relationships. Personal experiences shared by both Sabrina and Barker highlight the necessity of building a solid relationship foundation, addressing big emotions, and helping partners express their needs authentically without resorting to people-pleasing behaviors.

70: Trusting yourself, understanding triggers and validating your own needs with Masha Kay!
Sabrina explores the ins and outs of the healing journey with Masha, which revolves
around nervous system regulation and self-trust development. Nervous system
dysregulation goes hand in hand with how we view ourselves and our perception of
reality. How can we validate our feelings despite dysregulation and our distorted
perception of reality and decide on the best decision? Masha delves into how “trusting
yourself” starts with trusting your emotions, holding space for processing your emotions,
and then paving the way to decide. The decision may not be the best down the road (is
there ever a definite and immediate way to know?), but as long as it honors what you
were feeling at the moment and you accept the consequences down the road.

69: Codependency and getting back with an ex with Mark Groves and Kylie McBeath!
Sabrina sits down with Mark Groves and his partner, Kylie McBeath, for a conversation on their dating journey, which leads them from breaking up to finding each other again years later.
When they first parted ways, they were confronted with the logic behind why it had to end and what they each had to work on. After their closing ceremony, a collective decision to end the relationship with a series of questions and reflections, they each worked on addressing their codependencies and why their relationship was not serving them as individuals.
Healing involved figuring out what Kylie began with sourcing from men or a relationship with Mark. They both reflect on the series of tools such as somatic therapy, financial competence, and creating a safe space for feeling a range of emotions as individuals and liberation that brought them back to one another.

65: Eating disorders, trauma responses differing between children and how a lack of control can manifest differently based on experiences with big sister Jaimie Bailey!
*TRIGGER WARNING! We do discuss eating disorders in this episode.
On this weeks episode of The Sabrina Zohar Show, Sabrina is joined by her big sister Jaimie Bailey for a heart-to-heart talk on trauma and its manifestation in her relationship with food. Jaimie is a holistic nutritionist passionate about wellness and a healthy relationship with food and diet!
Jaimie talks about how trauma initially manifested itself with her and her fixation on tiny details about herself. Her older brother's addictions began to influence her choices and her addiction to the high. Her household environment was hostile and lacked joy, so her feeling of joy was tied to substances. It also led to the avoidant attachment style because of coping alone and the lack of trust in others to protect her.
The first step in dealing with a problem like binge eating is understanding why it is
happening. Once you have this understanding, you can decide to rise above it and prevent it from happening again.
