Ep 43- Ellen Adair Talks "Herd" In Time For Halloween, Their Love of The Phillies, & Their Thoughts on Gender in Hollywood, & More!
Ellen Adair is here! You have seen her on TV & Movie Screens. You have also seen her on the MLB Network talking Baseball and her beloved Phillies! She is here to tell us of a new way to see her- in this Horror/Thriller "Herd" coming out in time for Halloween!
Because the zombies are not "undead," but people with a virus, it hits closer to home in a number of different ways.In HERD, they're certainly terrifying because they're infectious, but how human are they, still? There's not an obvious moment when a switch is flipped. What's left of their consciousness? And if you're scratched, what's the moment when you're really lost? How long do you have to consciously reckon with your fate? There are parallels with a lot of real, if slower-moving, diseases.
She is telling us all about making the film, the decision to announce being non-binary, how that affects her place in Hollywood, and what is next for this Up & Coming Movie Star! Take a listen!

Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran Jai Rodriguez returns home to the NYC stage after 17 years, with his new cabaret show A Thousand Sweet Kisses, chronicling his hilarious journey through love, sex and relationships.
Best known as the “Culture Guy” in the groundbreaking original “Queer Eye,” theater audiences first met Jai at the age of 18 when he played Angel in RENT, making him the youngest person ever cast in a leading role in that show. While in NYC, Jai appeared at Lincoln Center in Spinning Into Butter, as Carmen Ghia in The Producers and as Zanna in the cult classic Zanna, Don’t! While performing eight shows a week, Jai became a fixture in nightlife with his popular post modern pop cabaret night at XL called Twisted Cabaret. Since then Jai has become a regular fixture in TV and film guest starring on shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie,” “The Magicians,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Fantasy Island,” and as the scene stealing Geoffrey in “Malibu Country” opposite Reba and Lily Tomlin to name a few. Most recently Jai was in the Judd Apatow film BROS and is in “Uncoupled,” which is about to shoot its second season.
A Thousand Sweet Kisses is a hilarious and touching musical cabaret featuring Broadway and pop classics as well as never before told behind the scenes stories. Each night will feature a different surprise guest dueting “I’ll Cover You” from RENT with him. Join us for Jai’s unforgettable return to the NYC stage!

Ep 40- From Saturday Nights To Broadway Lights: Alex Moffat Talks "The Cottage"
What is it like to make your Broadway Debut with Laura Bell Bundy, Eric McCormick, & More? What is it like to make your Broadway Debut with Jason Alexander as director? Is doing "The Cottage" like doing SNL? Am I the nephew of Steve Bannon? These are all questions that are answered with Alex Moffat!
A breakout performer on SNL, Alex succeeded Jim Carrey as Joe Biden on the show. He is best known for his impersonations of Eric Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Anderson Cooper, and Joe Scarborough amongst others, as well as his original recurring Weekend Update character Guy Who Just Bought A Boat. His most current films include Susie Searches, which premiered at the 2022 TIFF on September 9th, and the holiday comedy, Christmas with the Campbells, opposite of Brittany Snow and Justin Long, that just released in Canada on October 1st. He can next be seen on Apple’s “Bad Monkey” series, an adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s novel where he’ll star with Vince Vaughn. Over the 2020 holiday season, Alex appeared in the Netflix feature, Holidate, directed by John Whitesell and starring Emma Roberts. He also worked on the Paramount feature Clifford, the live‑action hybrid based on the best-selling book series and directed by Walt Becker. Alex can be seen playing opposite Brittany Snow in the breakout romantic comedy Someone Great. He has also been receiving great praise for his performance in The Opening Act, produced by Peter Billingsley. Aside from SNL, he can be seen on TV in Showtime's series “Billions” and is the voice behind Jimmy in Disney's sequel Wreck-It Ralph 2. Spending the earlier years of his career in Chicago, he was a regular performer at iO and The Annoyance Theatre as well as an official acro-dunker for the renowned Chicago Bulls. He played in the Celebrity All-Star game in February 2020.

Ep 39- Jordanian Filmmaker Ahmad Alyasee Tackles Trans & Queer Lives & Traditions in "Our Males & Females"
There has never been a time for a piece like this! We in the US often see things thru the lens of our culture, laws, and government. Have you thought about Trans Lives & Religion in other lands?
Award-winning director Ahmad Alyaseer's latest film, OUR MALES AND FEMALES, is a story of the harrowing injustice faced by a deceased transgender woman in the Middle East as her family grapples with the task of washing the body and coming to terms with their “son’s” new identity. The short, a powerful exploration of the complexities of gender identity, grief and religion, has not only captivated audiences worldwide but has also just secured its place as a strong contender for the 2024 Academy Awards®.
The film has so far garnered widespread attention and acclaim during its impressive festival run, participating in more than 90 film festivals across the globe and being screened in over 35 countries. Nonetheless, the film still faces challenges in its home region, the Middle East, where censorship issues have prevented its screening, underscoring the critical nature of the themes explored in OUR MALES AND FEMALES.
Ahmad Alyaseer, an award-winning writer and director from Jordan, masterfully weaved this gripping narrative that continues to spark conversations about gender identity and acceptance. “I want to make films that are bold, spark debate and challenge stereotypes, allowing audiences to think about issues they may not have considered before and shed light on certain taboos in their culture, in hopes of fostering empathy and tolerance.” Alyaseer is currently developing two feature films, including one based on OUR MALES AND FEMALES, promising more impactful narratives in the future.
With its recent qualification for the 2024 Academy Awards®, OUR MALES AND FEMALES is poised to reach new heights and remains a testament to the power of cinema and storytelling.

Ep 30- Grammy Winner Abigail Barlow Talks Her New Single, "Bridgerton Musical" Lessons, & More!
This chat is FUN! We are deep, we are silly, we are talking music! Abigail Barlow has accomplished a lot in her life and she is still a BABY! She has a Grammy, she has music streamed millions and millions of times, she created a concept album of a TV show, and went viral, but it has come with some tough moments as well! She is here to talk her journey, what is next, and the album, coming soon, that she has put her heart and soul into!
GRAMMY-award winner Abigail Barlow is back with "Rock Bottom," the first track off her upcoming debut solo album Princess Pop, due out early 2024. A culmination of the past year’s ups and downs, "Rock Bottom" (co-written with Kings and Gus Ross, who also produced the track) is a statement from an artist who has reflected, learned, and grown - an artist who has realized that her voice and message continue to resonate powerfully as she looks ahead to the future. After contesting a lawsuit over her GRAMMY-award winning The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical as half of Barlow & Bear, "Rock Bottom" reflects on the experiences she’s had over the past year, paving the path forward, onward, and upward for Abigail as an artist.

Ep 28- Hollywood Insider, Author, & Emmy Nominated Writer Shelley Herman Tells All!
Do you like gossip, stories, and old Hollywood Tales? We have one for you!
Shelley Herman is an Emmy-nominated writer whose career began as an NBC Page in Burbank, CA. A graduate of Agoura High School and California State University, Northridge, Shelley has written over 1000 hours of television shows, contributed to numerous books for Dove/Phoenix Books, starred in the TV series Off the Wall, and Night Rap, and co-hosted ESPN's Battle of The Monster Trucks and Mud Bog Spectacular. In addition, Shelley has guest-starred on numerous TV shows and hosted eight infomercials and national talk radio programs, and is a member of SAG/AFTRA, Writers Guild of America, West and The Television Academy She and her husband, actor Randall Carver, live in Los Angeles, where they feed every stray animal in their neighborhood.
"I'm not ashamed of anything," says showbiz veteran Shelley Herman about stories recounted in her new book, My Peacock Tale: Secrets Of An NBC Page. "There's nothing in this book that anyone should be ashamed of, because the lessons we learned, the people we met, made us who we are now. We had a lot of fun and if we could, we'd do it all over again!"
More than a memoir, My Peacock Tale is a playful mix of "Sex and the City" and "Mad Men" – set against the backdrop of Hollywood (and beautiful downtown Burbank!) in the 1970s. It's not just about the stories and memories of Herman's own time as a 20-something NBC Studios Page in Burbank - handed "the keys to the kingdom" and assigned gatekeeper to showbiz royalty. It's also about the lifelong friendships she formed with fellow Pages, whose own wild and crazy formative experiences are also tastefully recounted and unabashedly celebrated.

Ep 27= Jazz/Cabaret Stars & NY Staples Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch Talk Music, Birdland, & More!
They are NY Staples! They are everywhere, play for everyone, and do it all! Billy Stritch & Jim Caruso are here! They are talking Birdland and Cast Party!
It’s a cross between “The Voice” and “The Tonight Show!” Jim Caruso’s Cast Party is a wildly popular happening that has brought Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night since 2003. It is the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with show folk and the people who love them. Cast Party is a hilariously impromptu open mic/variety show where showbiz superstars and up-and-comers deliver jaw-dropping musical performances and razzle-dazzle.
Legendary showman Jim Caruso guides the entire affair with razor-sharp humor and the unbridled enthusiasm of an uber-fan. Musical director-to-the-stars Billy Stritch holds court at the ivories. But the real fun starts when the audience participates in the onstage festivities. Broadway legends, jazzers, cabaret divas, starry-eyed tourists, and enthusiastic kids storm the stage and entertain each other. If you have a voice, a dream and some sheet music, your Cast Party moment awaits!
Caruso and Stritch love taking the show on the road, and have celebrated talent in London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Dallas, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Miami, as well as very special all-star events at The Town Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Cast Party has been honored with five BroadwayWorld Awards, a MAC Award, Bistro Award, and a Nightlife Award.

Ep 26- Emma Hunton (Wicked, TV, & More) Talks "Exorcistic" Coming To NY Just In Time For October!
We love us some Emma Hunton. She wowed us in "Wicked," sang her face off in "Rent," and stuns on screen in all her projects. She is here to talk about a new parody just in time for spooky season!
The new rock musical, EXORCISTIC presented by HRS Productions and Orgasmico Theatre will premier in NYC just in time for Halloween. The show will come to NYC for its limited viewing on October 8th through October 23rd at The Box. The unauthorized parody of The Exorcist was brought back by popular demand after their sold-out run at The Three Clubs in Los Angeles.
The musical parody brings about horror, hilarity, and the most powerhouse rock tunes you’ll see in a theater this year! The production brings to roaring life with iconic imagery and an explosive live band, the story of a movie star whose daughter becomes possessed and is helped by priests who try to save her.
Book, lyrics, and music by two-time Ovation Award winner Michael Shaw Fisher. Lindsay Heather Pearce (Wicked and RENT) will be featured in the opening cast. Emma Hunton (Freeform's Good Trouble, Wicked, and RENT) will also star, reprising her role from the LA production. The cast includes: The Summer Set's frontman Brian Logan Dales, Leigh Wolf (Exorcistic 2013), Jesse Merlin (For Love of the Glove, Re-Animator the Musical), Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray, Bupkis), Nick Bredosky (UMPO 10 Things I Hate About You) Kim Dalton (Cluelesque, Toil & Trouble) Mitchell Gerrard Johnson (A New Brain) Gabby Sanalitro (That 90’s Show) and Tyler Olshanksky.
Exorcistic is a parody within a parody. The audience watches a struggling theater company make their way to Broadway by the second act, however, their lead, Emma Hunton has taken Method Acting a step too far and is replaced with a Broadway star. This role is a rotating rolodex of stars which you do not want to miss because it changes every night! Each night there will be a different special guest performer who will be played by: Marissa Rosen (For the Girls, Water for Elephants, Modern Love) Nick Cearly (The Skivvies, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown) Jillian Schiralli (CATS, now that’s what i call 90s) Gerard Canonico (Almost Famous, The Dude Ranch) Jordan Donica (Camelot, RENT, Hamilton) Jamie Cepero (SMASH, The Function) and more!
Los Angeles cast member Frankie Grande says “Exorcistic combines everything you love about Rock Musical Theater and Horror into the perfect evening of theater that will leave you laughing and crying all the way home!”
The Box is located at 189 Chrystie St, New York, NY 10002.
The show will start promptly at 7:30 pm with the doors opening at 6:30 pm.
Tickets are now available and can be purchased here

Ep 21- Opening Night Coverage of "20 Seconds" Starring Tom Sweitzer
We were live on the red carpet for "20 Seconds" at the Signature. We had a chance to talk to the star Tom Sweitzer about the journey to NY with this incredibly personal story. We also chat with the director, VIP guests, and more!
To a young Tom Sweitzer in 1970s blue-collar Pennsylvania, homemade meatballs were an Italian mom’s cure-all. Husky pants from Sears were a necessary evil. And dad’s schizophrenia and alcoholism were the fuel to a nightmarish fire. That is the life Tom knew and endured until one day, he ran out of the house and into the church across the street. There, he met a woman who gave him a gift that would alter the course of his life: music. Through song, Tom found a haven, a passion, a career, and a purpose. But above all, it gave him the language to accept loss, let in love, and forgive the demons of his past.
20 Seconds is an inspiring testimony to the uplifting power of music at all stages of life. Music provided companionship when Tom couldn’t find it in a destructive home. Years later, music shaped Tom’s career as a therapist, allowing him to augment his penchant for song with clinical, research-based practices.
In his inviting solo performance, Tom weaves storytelling with original song and nearly a dozen colorful characters. Over 90 minutes, audiences meet the Sunday school savior, the compassionate but ailing mother, the tortured father, one foul-mouthed parrot, and many more. As you follow him through his journey, you’ll hear the music that shaped his healing, and, as the church bells chime across the street, experience the powerful 20 seconds that mended a scarred relationship between a father and son.
"Tom Sweitzer is a composer and artist with vision, and he delivers an emotional and compelling autobiographical performance. He survived extraordinary challenges in his childhood and discovered a talent for music that, as a Music Therapist, enables him generously to give others what he never received. This is a portrait of resilience and forgiveness." - Renée Fleming

Ep 18- Michael Conley Talks "The Fabulist Fox Sister" Coming To NYC on "The Roundtable"
DEBUT ALERT! DEBUT ALERT! DEBUT ALERT!
The Green Room 42 will host the New York debut of The Fabulist Fox Sister, the musical comedy stage hit direct from London, for two shows on Tuesday, September 26 and Friday, September 29 at 9:30 PM. The show stars writer and performer Michael Conley, featuring music by Oliver Award nominee Luke Bateman and book and lyrics by Conley.
It’s New York, 1892: Kate Fox, the woman who inadvertently invented séances is holding her last one. A final audience gathers to watch as she conjures some ghosts to tell the story of her life and the religion she accidentally began. Loosely inspired by the loosely true story of Kate Fox, The Fabulist Fox Sister is a silly, scathing and sardonic one-person musical inspired by our own era of approximate truth.
Conley is a writer and performer based in the UK. In New York he hosted the award-winning Gay & Lesbian Comedy Fest and starred in Hello, Boys!, a revue of songs he wrote with Matthew Loren Cohen. Musicals include the Off West End hits Superhero (winner of the 2018 Off West End Award for “Best New Musical”), The Sorrows of Satan, The Little Beasts and Indecent Proposal. English adaptations include Matches and The Prince and The Pauper. Plays include The Cancellation of Crispin Cox, Baubo and the Queen of the Sea and A Gay Divorce.

We had a time at the "You Gotta Believe" Gala Concert! We were sobbing. We were cheering. We were on our feet! We had such a good time!

We had no idea! That is where "You Gotta Believe" comes in! They take the challenge to find forever homes for teenage foster children to give them a chance to be a part of a family and community!
We had the chance to talk to:
Seth & James
Bellamy Young
Donna Murphy
Norm Lewis
Brenda Braxton
Matt Gould
Griffin Matthews
& More!
We even have a clip of the Surprise Guest of the night, Broadway's Original Annie, Andrea McArdle singing "Maybe" for Bellamy Young!

A once-in-a-generation talent, she takes influence from Aretha and Whitney, bringing her audience back to an era of Hollywood movie glamour, but her style and presentation could be compared to Billie Eilish, a cool, confident, edgy tomboy. The innovative jazz vocalist, pop singer, and gifted songwriter has brought memorable performances to global audiences: Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., New York , Miami and Atlanta stateside; internationally to countries including Amsterdam, and most uniquely Rwanda with the Christian humanitarian agency World Vision, whose mission is to provide clean water to every person everywhere they work by 2030. She’s performed at high-profile events, like The Trumpet Awards in 2018; at legendary venues like The New York Philharmonic; and she even played Young Ella in the Celebration of Ella Fitgerald.
Singing since the tender age of 12, Wé Ani’s star-making turn during her show-stopping blind audition on the hit NBC TV show The Voice drew world-wide attention in 2016. People are continuously awed by the distinct difference between Wé’s speaking voice and singing voice during performances and appearances on social media. Wé Ani is, undeniably, a rising star.

Ep 11- Singer/Songwriter Stewart Taylor Talks His New Single "Favorite Ex"
Well we have a chat for you today!
Out artist Stewart Taylor is ending this summer of love with a song about the one that got away. “Favorite Ex,” available now on Spotify.
In his latest single release, “Favorite Ex,” out artist Stewart Taylor sings about an old flame he regretfully had to extinguish. “We ended things when I left New York to pursue my career in Los Angeles,” he explains. “We both knew life would eventually take me out West and that our time together was limited, but I often wonder what would’ve been had I stayed.”
The song merges eighties vibes with today’s pop and R&B and is the second ballad Stewart Taylor has written about his former lover. His debut single, “Mess Your Hair Up”, released in 2019, is about him too. Ep 7- Drag Superstar Trevor Ashley Talks "Queen of the Universe," Liza, & A New Show At Greenroom 42!
We love a Queen here at The Roundtable and we have one of the best to do it!
Australian drag and theater legend Trevor Ashley, best known from the TV hit “Queen of the Universe,” in the new show “Queen of the Moment” for two performances on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15 at 9:30 PM. The evening features songs from “Queen of the Universe,” including “Get the Party Started,” “The Rose,” and “River Deep, Mountain High,” in addition to tributes to Shirley Bassey and Liza Minnelli. TrAshley will lift the curtain on what really happens when you travel halfway across the world to shoot a reality television programme when you’re a control freak with absolutely no control. Featuring music director Brian Nash, expect a night of laughs, gay anthems and powerhouse vocals, as Trevor brings his trademark wit and self-deprecation back to New York. Following this show, Ashley will perform at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End in October, before returning home to Australia for concerts in Perth and Melbourne.
Trevor Ashley is one of Australia’s most sought-after and successful performers. He has built a career and following as an actor, writer, director and international queen of cabaret – but not necessarily in that order. He recently was the fan favourite and runner-up on “Queen of the Universe,” the global drag singing competition hosted by Graham Norton, streaming worldwide. An Australian musical theatre icon, Trevor starred as Thenardier in Les Misérables, for which he was nominated for his third Helpmann Award. He has also appeared as Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar, the original Australian Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and created the role of Miss Understanding in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical, and has just completed a sold-out run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as Pharaoh
Ashley has previously starred in Liza (on and E), Liza’s Back! (is broken), both of which toured to Vienna, Hong Kong and London’s West End, and in I’m Every Woman for which he won the Sydney Theatre Award. On TV, Trevor was commissioned to write and star in “The Very Trevor Ashley Show” for SBS, Australia’s public television network. He recently completed a national symphony tour of “Diamonds Are for Trevor,” a tribute to Shirley Bassey which was also recorded as a TV special for Foxtel Arts. He has also appeared in “Les Norton” (ABC), “Drunk History” (Network 10), “Get Krackin’” (ABC) and “Dance Academy” (ABC) and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras broadcast as a special guest star. This year he returns to the regular role of Dolly in “RFDS: Royal Flying Doctor Service” for the 7 Network.
Trevor took the city by storm in 2019 when he made his New York debut at Sony Hall in Liza’s Back! (is broken).
Trevor Ashley will perform “Queen of the Moment” on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15, both at 9:30 PM, at The Green Room 42 (570 Tenth Avenue at 42nd Street, on the 4th Floor of Yotel). The cover charge ranges from $25-$55. A livestream option is available for $20. For tickets, please visit www.TheGreenRoom42.com.
