Michael Friendly is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, a Professor of Psychology, founding Chair of the graduate program in Quantitative Methods at York University, and an Associate Coordinator with the Statistical Consulting Service. He received his doctorate in Psychology from Princeton University, specializing in Psychometrics and Cognitive Psychology.In addition to his research interests in psychology, Professor Friendly has broad experience in data analysis, statistics, and computer applications. He is the author of Discrete Data Analysis with R: Visualization and Modeling Techniques four Categorical and Count Data. He is also the author of SAS for Statistical Graphics, 1st Edition and Visualizing Categorical Data, both published by SAS Institute, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics and Statistical Science His recent work includes the further development of graphical methods for categorical data and multivariate linear models, as well as work on the history of data visualization.Howard Wainer is an independent statistician and author with experience in educational testing and data visualization. He received his PhD from Princeton University in 1968. He has taught at The University of Chicago, Princeton University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed by the Educational Testing Service from 1980 until 2001 and was the Distinguished Research Scientist at the National Board of Medical Examiners from 2001 until 2016.
