#31 - The #1 (easy!!) thing anyone can do to get more clicks on their CTAs
When I write copy for my clients I sell how people love to be sold to.
Genuinely.
Confidently.
With, “I’m here for you, and we’ve totally got this” energy.
Full of heart and humor and human connection.
But when I ask for the sale in my own copy?
I get all tied up in my head and write WTF calls to action that sound like this:
“Click here …. if you’re interested … and not too busy … ‘cuz I don’t want to trouble you … and this offer is just lukewarm anyway.”
You too? Do you find yourself tripping over your words when you ask for the sale?
Let’s change that.
Because if you write a compelling piece of copy but nose dive on the call to action?
Your conversions are going to feel it.
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing my #1 favorite (and easiest) copy trick of all time to boost your call-to-action click rates to an all-time high.
No worries - you don’t have to be a ‘word wizard’ to do this trick, and it doesn’t involve you turning into a used watch salesperson either.

#30 - DitchYourCurrentSalesPageHeadlineForThis
The current headline on your sales page’s got *nothing* on this.
It’s called the Question Loop Headline.
And if you’re getting a *ton* of eyeballs on your sales page, but not nearly the number of conversions you want to achieve …
Then this headline formula is about to shake.shizz.up for you - in the best way.
In today’s episode of Above the Bar Copy, I teach you how to write a question loop sales page headline that will:
Wake your clients up from their zombie scroll faster than an ice water bath. (I’m from the Midwest … it’s polar plunge season … that’s the best analogy I got😆).
So they want to keep reading your page
Make your offer look like the irresistible, one-and-only solution that it is.
So they’re thinking. “She gets me. I’m in!”
Don’t miss this episode.

# 25 - 8 client-centered website launch strategies that actually boost traffic to your site!
Building a new website is one thing. But effectively launching that new site and driving traffic to it? Whew, girl - that’s an entirely different but equally important to-do for your Trello boards!
When I write websites for my copywriting clients I never hand someone brand new website copy and say, “Well, peace out! Good luck figuring out how to promote your new site and creating a launch plan to announce it!”
Nope nope nope. I always share a few different strategies and options my clients can follow to announce their new website copy, and those are exactly the strategies I want to share with you in this episode. In case you want to drive some new traffic to your existing site or create some buzz around a new one.
The cool thing about these website launch strategies is that they are super client-centered. I mean, of course you are inherently excited about your new website. That thing was a lot of work to put together!
The trick is to also get everyone else just as excited about your website as you are so they want to go check it out, too. That’s why these website launch strategies I’m sharing with you today are all about giving your clients and website readers something to look forward to when it comes to visiting your new site. Adding in a little of that ‘‘what’s in it for me’ flare to catch their attention and boost those views!

#24 - 3 prompts to fire up the sales messaging for your Mastermind or group coaching program
If you have a group coaching program, a mastermind, or a 1:1 coaching service, you’ve probably thought, “I know what I do is incredible. I know the students inside my container are getting these amazing results once they get inside my program …
…. but articulating my offer promise, creating less cookie-cutter and more compelling sales messaging, and finding the right words for the exact right client I want to work with feels hard!”
So you’re sharing a ton of benefits and behind-the-scenes content for your program, talking about your story about how coaching has changed your life and business for the better … and then waiting and hoping this will all resonate with someone somewhere.
Or .. you feel a bit stuck on what to say because the students inside your container see massive shifts in their business after working with you, but those shifts look slightly different for each individual, so you’re not sure how to get more specific in your copy or really ‘explain’ what your students do inside your mastermind beyond ‘reach your dream business.’
You might also be having some doubts when it comes to charging more or selling your mastermind or group coaching program because ‘no one is going to buy that’ or ‘it’s a hard sell’ or ‘I’m not sure about making a clear program promise or pinning down a more niched audience because we do so many things for different people who are in all walks of life when they join my program.’ ’
If any of the above sounds familiar, welcome welcome, my lovely friend!
Today’s episode of the Above the Bar Copy podcast shares three copywriting prompts and examples that will help your craft more engaging, effective, eye-catching, and non-wishy washy sales messaging for your mastermind or coaching program so you can start to more clearly see all the good stuff you’re already doing and more easily articulate the amazing-ness of your offer to your future students.

#16 - How to conduct client voice research like a copywriter (5 tips)
The best copy for your business is not in your head. It exists in your CLIENT's head. Right? So you’re not CREATING copy as much as you are LISTENING for it, digging for it, uncovering it.
In today's episode, I cover 5 tips for using client voice research to get your copy to speak to what your people want.
Link to the Client voice phone interview and survey questions, the email template I use to ask for the survey, and the onboarding questionnaire I have all of my new copywriting clients fill out: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/63693ce4d8cf4984a09e80ec

Looking for inspiration and strategies for growing your business in the cracks of your day....beyond using Instagram and posting to social media?
Today is the very first guest interview on the show! Join me as I sit down with Holly Haynes, a business strategist who is passionate about teaching women how to build their dream job and scale to 6-figures without sacrificing their weekends or priorities.

#14 - To talk pain points or not? Love-based copywriting without the fear mongering.
Have you ever struggled with talking about your client's pain points or struggles?
After all, you're in business to HELP people, not point out their suffering! (I get it.)
Today's episode is all about how and when to address client struggles and pain points in your copy, and how you can do it in an impactful and love-based way.
Plus! Bonus story - why I almost didn't become a copywriter, and what changed my mind -- hint, it has to do with the marketing tips you'll learn in this episode.

#13 - Writing impactful copy that feels like you and *works* (3 tips)
We've all heard this advice:
Your copy is about solving a problem for your clients.
True.
HOWEVER....
When you write your copy from a place of:
I have to solve a problem.
I have to say something that will convince people to buy from me.
My words have to dig into my clients' struggles and pain points.
I hope people like what I say and that this *convinces* them to work with me.
I think we can get really….stuck. Frozen on the page with writer's block, feeling unsure of ourselves and questioning everything we say.
So…how DO you write impactful copy that feels like you, builds relationships, sounds original, and leads to sales?
Today's episode is three of my best tips for doing just that. See you at the show!

#7- Offer guarantees aren't scary (they're necessary)
You're scrolling the sales page for an offer you want to invest in. You're nervous. You're excited. But also ... whew!!... you have those pre-purchase jitters.
You're reading this sales page and thinking will this work for me, what if I don't see results, is this a good investment?
And then you get to the offer guarantee. Oh, thank goodness! You're looking for reassurance. Some peace that you can't go wrong here.
But the guarantee only says, "Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee you'll see results, but if you put in the work and follow the steps in this program exactly, these results *are* possible for you."
Um?
I'll give you three million dollars if that sentence as *ever* sparked inspiration, convinced someone to buy, or made a reader feel safe, seen, and understood.
We need better offer guarantees.
Don't get me wrong. Creating an offer guarantee doesn't mean you have to offer a refund or extra deliverables that will put your business under or stress you out.
No.
It simply means you remove as much risk for your buyer as possible and support them in getting the best results.
In today's episode of the podcast, we're talking about offer guarantees. What they are, why you need one in your copy, and a few examples of what a smart offer guarantee can look like. See you in the show!

#6- 3 things I'm doing to create better copy right now (and the summer burnout that got me here)
It's inevitable. Every summer, I take on way too much. I try to squeeze out every last second of my time as a mom and business owner until I eventually have nothing left to give and face plant. Faceplant right into a massive content creation and copywriting burnout. Yes, the B word we're all annoyed about hearing about - I know her well.
In trying to keep up with client work and life, I've let writing copy for my business fall to the wayside. This isn't to say you can never step back and take a break (I think you totally can and should). It's just that I feel this unplanned absence from my copy and content in every part of my business. I miss writing for myself. I miss feeling excited about talking to my audience. I miss that flow and ability to share about my work in a way that feels good and aligned with my values.
You too? Welcome! This episode of the podcast is all about overcoming a content creation and copywriting slump. In it, I'm sharing three things I'm doing right now to keep my messaging consistent and on point and to actually savor + enjoy my time writing for my business.

Have you ever sat down to write the headline of your sales page, website, or landing page and felt like…
