No. 131: Danette Harrington

Danette Harrington served 24 years as the auditor of Butte-Silver Bow. That, though, was only a part of her service as an employee of the local government. She also grew up in the great neighborhood of the Dublin Gulch. The Gulch is now threatened as the Superfund partners are targeting for a toxic dumping round that will finish off the neighborhood. The Dublin Gulch hasn't hosted a family in about 50 years, but its memory still burns strong in former residents like Harrington. That neighborhood is still worth fighting for. No. 125: Curtis Smith

No. 125: Curtis Smith

It's been more than 33 years since Curtis Smith played basketball for Butte High School. He is still mentioned all the time because he is one of the best players to ever suit up for the Bulldogs. He passed like Magic Johnson, though he'd rather you say it was like Larry Bird. Either way, Curtis was great. He played on Butte High's 1989 and 1990 teams, and the Bulldogs only lost three games in those two years. Unfortunately, two of them were championship games. He doesn't have that gold basketball of a state champion, but Curtis is a champion in my book. Curtis also really does seem to live by the Golden Rule. He is nice to everyone, and that is even better than being a great basketball player. Today's podcast is presented by Lone Peak Physical Therapy. Yesterday, I saw him in person for the first time in years, and we had a great time talking about the glory days, the Vu Villa, the fact that he was a band-O, the Vu Villa and his large family.
