60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: An Elephant to Deliver Us From Our Writing Comfort Zone
Hello to you listening in San Diego, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with your host, Diane Wyzga. The other day over coffee with my friend, Barb Mosher, acclaimed abstract artist and podcaster our conversation took an unexpected turn when Barb asked if I saw myself as a writer. Well, no, not like Anne Lamott, John Irving, Robin Wall Kimmerer. But, you do write, she said. Magazine articles, stories, behind the scenes book editor, and let’s not forget your 600+ podcast episodes, right? Well, yeah. Enough, said Barb! If I was giving you advice (oh, boy, here it comes) I’d tell you to do something illogical, wild, and fun! I want you to devote 30 carefree minutes to this prompt so you can step away from pre-conceived notions and expectations. Okay listeners, if I have to do it, so do you.Story Prompt: There’s an elephant, dressed in plaid, sitting in my kitchen, eating grapes, out of the dog’s dish! Now what? Write that story!Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!
