188: The 2023 Local Elections Show
It's time to talk politics and real estate, and 2023 is a more important year to have this discussion than most. We have several competitive mayor and city council races happening in Greenville, Travelers Rest, Simpsonville, Easley, Pickens, Mauldin, Fountain Inn, etc., and many of these elections will have low turnout and ultimately will be decided by just a few votes. But the stakes are high, with many candidates running campaigns focused on concerns that directly impact homeownership and the real estate market, such as development requirements, residential infrastructure, traffic, affordable housing, etc. And on top of everything else, there are many anti-development "NIMBYs" still attempting a hostile takeover of local government, as they have now for several years. Where is this heading, and what does it mean for the future of the Upstate?
