The tale of the goose who lays golden eggs reminds us to take care of the source. The farmer got so greedy for more eggs that he killed the goose in hopes of getting all the eggs at once. Only to reveal there were no eggs in side. Sometimes we expend the source in the effort to get more outcome. We do this at work by driving and pushing for too hard and too long exhausting employees. We do this personally by overtraining, over working, over eating etc. at the expense of our health. We do this in relationships by not giving time, attention and love and then we don't get any more time attention or love in return. This is the theory of abstraction from Simon Sinek's book - Leaders Eat Last. I feel abstraction hits companies the hardest when it comes to Customer Experience (CX), Employee Experience (EX), and Leaderships Growth. I used to think quit was a four letter word. You are never supposed to quit! Grit was the key to success. I still agree that grit is essential but I think I was confusing quit with "giving up". Giving up when faced with resistance when something is important to you is not okay! You need to grit for that which is important to you. But also, you need to quit that which is no longer serving you. We have one life to do with what we want.
