Planting Seeds for Success: From Growing a Garden to Raising a Family, with Gina DiSalvo

Planting Seeds for Success: From Growing a Garden to Raising a Family, with Gina DiSalvo

Do you have a hard time trusting your intuition and end up following other people’s strategies in order to find success?  What if I told you that leaning into your intuition and simplifying what you can handle is the secret behind sustainable growth and success? This week, I'm joined by Gina DiSalvo and we dissect what it means to follow your intuition and focus on what you can actually manage in this season of your life. Gina is a backyard veggie gardener, wife and mom of 3 on a journey to self sufficiency. She doesn’t have much time to spend in the garden but loves growing food for her family that is nutrient dense and free of chemicals. We talked about the importance of simplicity and trusting the natural processes of growth, whether that's in the garden or in our own lives. Just like seeds and plants naturally want to grow, our babies and businesses have their own journeys and growth timeline.   We also chatted about:Overcoming good girl conditioningRecognizing people-pleasing tendencies when you consider yourself a "rebel"Standing in your truth ,even around authority figures Taking radical responsibility in your household The simplest definition of trusting your intuition Intuitive gardening and connecting to nature without adding to your to do list ...and so much more! If you're a mom or a business owner looking for tips on finding balance and owning your authentic self, you don't want to miss this episode!Connect with Gina on IG (@ginasgardens)Grab Gina's FREE Ultimate Guide to Watering Less by clicking hereConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer)Apply to be a guest on the podcast hereSupport the showConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer) Want to be a guest on the podcast? How Society is Failing Us in New Motherhood, with Nikki Matthews

How Society is Failing Us in New Motherhood, with Nikki Matthews

You aren't failing mama, but society might be failing you. In this episode, I'm joined by Nikki Matthews who shares her experience preparing for pregnancy/birth and navigating postnatal depression and anxiety after becoming a mom. She discusses the societal taboo surrounding maternal mental health and the struggle to seek support.  This is part 3 of a 3 part series on Matrescence (tune into episodes 12 and 13 to hear other matrescence stories) In this episode, Nikki and I also discuss: The differences in healthcare, parental leave, and childcare in the UK, Canada, and the US How society is failing in preparing mothers for the emotional changes and identity shift that come with motherhoodThe importance of exploring personal values and why self-discovery should be prioritized instead of fitting into traditional metricsThe pressure to bounce back and return to pre-baby life and how this adds to the struggle of understanding one's new identity as a motherNavigating feelings of isolation and inadequacy in new motherhoodNikki shares the importance of understanding matrescence and normalizes some of the hardships so many of us face in early motherhood.  Tune in and join the conversation as we dissect the need for societal change to better support mothers.A note from Nikki: "I'm a Brit, currently living in the USA away from friends and family. I'm married to my wonderful husband James, I have a rambunctious 2 year old little boy, and I also have a non-stop 4 year old pup called Dora. Our house is loud, high energy and messy (just to keep things in perspective!) I used to work in the corporate HR space for 14+ years, but recently took a career break to spend time with my son & explore some of my creative passions... Which brings me on to the.maternally .... an idea that I had when in the throes of postnatal depression and anxiety, and realised so much more needed to be done to support mums as they transition into and throughout motherhood. When I first stepped into the role of mum, I really needed an ally in my corner ... hence the.maternally was born!  I'm a motherhood ally, a matrescence educator, a fierce supporter of maternal mental health, a recovering people pleaser and perfectionist and a HUGE croissant lover! I'm just getting the.maternally off the ground and very much learning as I go, but I'd love for you to join my community!"Connect with Nikki on IG (@the.maternally)Connect with Nicole (@nicolepasveer) Apply to be a guest on the show hereSupport the showConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer) Want to be a guest on the podcast? Finding Alignment Between Career and Motherhood, with Ashley Beatty

Finding Alignment Between Career and Motherhood, with Ashley Beatty

Is it your intuition or society's "to-do" list? Have you ever stopped to check in with yourself and actually notice if that thing your doing (planning a wedding, preparing for a baby, or moving up in your career, etc) is guided by your intuition or just the next thing to cross off the (never ending) list of things society expects from you? I'm certainly guilty of living by default and getting wrapped up in the 'checklist',  striving to meet my next career goal and chasing society's definition of success... but this episode isn't about me! It's about Ashley! This week, I'm joined by Ashley Beatty who is a self development coach and fellow student in the Seasons of Matrescence® training I'm part of right now. She's also a mom and teacher from Ontario, Canada. Ashley shares her journey through motherhood and how she trusted her intuition while balancing her professional goals with the turbulence of new motherhood.  Listen in to uncover the wisdom she's gained along the way.  We also explore:how to find alignment between professional goals, career and motherhoodnavigating expectations versus reality within new motherhood the significance of investing in ourselves, avoiding the comparison game, and recognizing our own strengths and weaknesseshow motherhood can be an opportunity to unearth new passions and find your true path in life embracing and embodying the full spectrum of being a momDon't miss this uplifting and empowering episode as we continue to celebrate the resilience, strength, and wisdom of mothers everywhere.  And be sure to tune into Episode 12 and 14 to continue hearing vulnerable and inspirational stories from other moms in this (sort of unintentional) three part series on Matrescence!  When not momming or teaching 8th grade, Ashley is self development coach who empowers women to discover who they are at their core through genuine and authentic connection. Navigating Queer Motherhood, Birth, and Identity, with Dana Struthers

How do you navigate the complex world of relationships, parenting, and identity while embracing your true self?   This week, I'm joined by Dana Struthers from New Zealand, who answers this million dollar question for us through the lens of her own matrescence journey.  Matrescence has been no straight road for Dana. Postpartum care NOT as a luxury but as an essential, with Brittany Zeer

Postpartum care NOT as a luxury but as an essential, with Brittany Zeer

There's a massive gap in care for mothers after having a baby. Brittany Zeer, creator of Blissful Womb Care joins me in this episode to discuss the importance of supporting postpartum healing as a way to improve the wellness of not just a family, but the community. She outlines the 5 essentials that every woman should be offered including: Rest, Warmth, Body Care, Nourishment, and Community SupportWe also discuss the Rite of Passage a woman goes through when becoming a mother and how often the Rite of Passage is incomplete; missing the integration of a new beginning and new identity. To properly complete this Rite of Passage, we need social recognition and community care, which is generally lacking in our culture. “Birth is just a blip in timePregnancy is just a blip in timeBut postpartum is foreverYou’ll never not be postpartum again”-Brittany ZeerBrittany reminds us that the postpartum period is forever, not just the 6-12 weeks we are led to believe.  At the time of this recording, I was 18 months postpartum and had the opportunity to experience one of  Brittany's postpartum packages first hand. In this episode, I  debrief my experience including the lessons I learned after processing my birth story with her and  my experience during the Closing of the Bones ceremony. Brittany supports women and mothers with Menstrual Cycle and Fertility Awareness, 1-on-1 Pregnancy Support, Prenatal Yoga, and Postpartum Care. Details on in-person support for those living in the Calgary/Airdrie area can be found here Brittany also has virtual offerings including prenatal yoga and her intimate group container on cycle awareness, called Blissful Cycles Connect with Birttany Zeer on IG @blissfulwombcare Connect with Nicole on IG @nicolepasveerIf you're interested in being a guest on the show, apply hereSupport the showConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer) Want to be a guest on the podcast? Spontaneous solo episode where I go on a little rant about human design and shedding layers of societal conditioning. A quick reminder to celebrate the little (big) things

A quick reminder to celebrate the little (big) things

This episode was not planned! I think the spontaneous solo episodes are soon going to become my favourites! In this quick chat, I reflect on celebrating the launch of this podcast. I encourage you to notice the little things in life worth celebrating and I remind us both that what we focus our attention on grows... so we need to stop critiquing ourselves (which is subconsciously rooted in lack and scarcity)  and instead start paying attention to our baby steps and getting back up each time we fall (growth and expansion) As always, I'd love to hear from you!  Connect with me on IG (@nicolepasveer)Support the showConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer) Want to be a guest on the podcast? Watered Down and Redefining Self-Worth: My career path up until now and how I'm starting to live my most potent life

Watered Down and Redefining Self-Worth: My career path up until now and how I'm starting to live my most potent life

In this solo episode, I pretend we are on a first date and begin unloading my life story with you!  I discuss the pressure I put on myself during high-school and university to get good grades and pick a "successful" career path .  Looking back now, it's so easy to see I spent a lot of those years worried about my reputation and held onto the belief that my worth was measured on my achievements... and that "achieving" equaled success. Since becoming a mom, it's become clear to me how strong my overachieving/perfectionist/people pleasing tendencies were... it's given me opportunity to make different choices and start forming my own identity!   For the first time ever, I'm doing things because I want to, instead of because it's expected of me!  If you like what you see (um hear?) so far, or resonate to anything I've shared, please let me know. I'd also love if subscribe to the show and leave a rating/review! DM me over on IG with a screenshot of your review so I don't miss it. Since my love language is words of affirmation, it will truly make my day ♡ If you're interested in being on the show and have a conversation idea you'd like to bring forward, fill out this form Support the showConnect with Nicole on IG (@nicolepasveer) Want to be a guest on the podcast? They told me not to record in the bathtub but I did it anyways

In this episode, I introduce who I am and share a bit about why I'm starting this podcast.  As a busy mom, it can be hard to find quiet time so I figured why not record while taking a bath!  Turns out the audio quality is nooooot superior, it sounds like I'm in a cave! So until I figure out a better mic setup, my dreams of recording in the tub are crushed...   It was important to me to not let perfection get in the way so this is an exercise for myself to show up MESSY - here's your permission to do the same! Connect with me, I'd love to hear from you!! Come say hi on IG  @nicolepasveer As I keep playin', showin' up messy and creating, I'm always looking for special guests to co-host with me!!  Think of it less like an interview, and more just chatting over a cup of tea!
