Jay M - A Slow Walk with God - Meeting 192

Jay M - A Slow Walk with God - Meeting 192

Jay M from Bali, Indonesia has been walking on his path through recovery for the last 25 years. He had a transformative spiritual experience that brought him to the awareness of God at an early age, but then fell into the abyss of addiction, in a myriad of forms for decades. When he finally got clean and sober and found his way into the rooms of AA, NA, SLAA and CODA, he began to grow spiritually, but it wasn’t until he hit his third rock bottom and lost everything that he loved, that he was surrendered enough to dedicate his life to this journey of recovery. He was fortunate that God put David G from Oklahoma in his life, right at that moment, to show him the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous in a way that he never could have imagined. It was only then that the true promises and miracles of recovery began to manifest and be revealed in his life. He speaks on his slow walk with God and journey into recovery.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Melissa T - I Am the Problem... AND the Solution - Meeting 189

Matt D - Gratefully Married to a Sexaholic - Meeting 183

In this POWERFUL meeting, Matt D shares on how he eventually became grateful that he is married to a sexaholic woman.  Here is a little about Matt D: Matt's wife's sexaholism brought him to the S-Anon fellowship in December 2021 as a homicidal, suicidal lost cause. After a slow start, he learned through the principles of the 12 steps and the tools of S-Anon to love God, his wife, his children, and his fellows, and to takesolution-based action to break the patterns of co-dependency in his life. The lessons he's learned in S-Anon have also helped him to tackle his drug and alcohol addictions. He is now an S-Anon success story, living his best life as one who is happy, joyous, and free.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Josh W - Embracing the Process, Not Just the Outcome - Meeting 174

Josh is a grateful sex addict working his recovery.  He has been sober since June 19, 2014.  He found recovery in the synergistic relationship between therapy and 12 steps.  As well as the grace and forgiveness he received from his wife and his God.  He started attending SA for 2 years and then was introduced to SAL and has been attending SAL 12 Step for over 7 years.  As part of his recovery journey he felt called by God to share his experience, strength and hope.  He did so in group meetings, church  as a sponsor, but felt God's call for more.  As a result he went back to schooland left a career of 15 years in pursuit of becoming a Clinical Mental HealthCounselor (CMHC).  He is now working at the clinic where he started his recovery journey (Circles of Grace/formerly LifeStar in Salt Lake City). Sean B - Getting Back to the Basics - Meeting 172

Sean B - Getting Back to the Basics - Meeting 172

Sean B came into the rooms of AA on May 22nd, 2019 after coming to the realization that he was unable to regulate his emotional state without a drink. He quickly recognized there was a large gap between the expectation of where he thought he would be in life and the reality of where he was. While he was able to stay sober for a year, he half measured the steps and didn’t make much spiritual progress. On February 27th, 2020, he came into the Big Book Sponsorshipfellowship and threw himself into the steps, and abandoned himself to God. In that process, he has learned much about addiction, emotional sobriety and codependency. He has worked with over 30 sponsees, and maintained 3 years of sobriety from hard drugs and alcohol.  In this meeting, Sean speaks on getting back to the basics of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented so many fellowships, addictions, and afflictions.  And we look forward to continuing to add to the diversity of speakers and backgrounds.  Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs.  To become a Reco12 Spearhead you can quickly and easily become a monthly donor here: https://www.reco12.com/support  or you can do one-time donations through PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12)  or Venmo:  @Reco-Twelve .  Thanks for your support!Resources from this meeting: Big Book Sponsorship / 12Steps4HoursAlcoholics AnonymousBig Book of AA"Outro music is "Truth and Reconciliation" written and performed by James Carrington and used with full permission of James Carrington.  To learn more about this music and performer, please visit https://www.jamescarrington.net/ and https://m.facebook.com/jamescarringtonmusic ." Support the showPrivate Facebook GroupInstagram PageBecome a Reco12 Spearhead (Monthly Supporter)PatreonPayPalVenmo: @Reco-TwelveYouTube ChannelReco12 WebsiteEmail: [email protected] to join WhatsApp GroupReco12 Shares PodcastReco12 Shares Record a Share LinkReco12 Noodle It Out with Nikki M PodcastReco12 Big Book Roundtable Podcast

Young found the 12 step rooms in 2010 after losing everything due to his daily heroin, crack and alcohol addiction. He didn't take any of the 12 steps and spent the next 8 years in and out of detox units and treatment centers. Tom L - No Longer Running the Show - Meeting 169

At 33, recovery found Tom obese, isolated, and dependent on welfare and disability payments. Deeply unhappy and ashamed of what he had become, he had no idea he was an addict.  Fifteen years later, healthy, employed, married, and living free from life threatening addiction, he was shown that normal living was not enough to keep from returning to insanity, that for him the spiritual life cannot be just a theory. Tom will speak to us today on how he is No Longer Running the Show.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs. Anita H - Be Loud About It - Meeting 168

Hi! I am Anita born and raised in Spokane WA. I was a chef and cook until my disease of alcoholism grew to something I could not handle anymore. Through the years I’ve faced many traumatic events which in turn made my life spiral down fast. In 2018 I got so sick from my alcoholism it nearly killed me. I spent most of the year in and out of the hospital, and still am battling my never ending health decline to this day.  Anita shares in this conversation the importance of being loud about it and shunning the stigma of addiction and alcoholism as well as a ton of other experience, strength, and hope.  This is a powerful conversation from one who has lived in the trenches.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We also hope to smash the stigma of addiction so that people are more willing to come out of the shadows and into the light.Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs. Karen A - Using the Big Book in People and Relationship Addictions - Meeting 166

Karen A. from Jerusalem, Israel is a proud Mommy and member of the Spiritual Gangsters fellowship. Karen had addiction running through her family and lost her baby brother to an accidental morphine overdose when he was just three days out of rehab. In 2014, Karen entered the rooms of OA when her doctor said she had the 4Fs - female, fertile, fat, and forty! She knew that a spiritual approach was the only solution to her food problem and all of life's other challenges, such as codependency, anonism, and love addiction. Today, Karen guides sponsees through the Big Book for any affliction, especially people addictions - CoDA, Al-Anon, Sex and Love Addiction, etc. and she specializes in carrying the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to Orthodox Jewish women worldwide who otherwise would not have access to recovery.  She speaks to us today on using the Big Book and Big Book principles in people and relationship addictions.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Resources from this meeting: George Lewis 11st Step Evening MeditationSpiritual Gangsters FellowshipBig Book of Alcoholics AnonymousOACODAAl-AnonSLAAReco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs. Joseph O - Page 63 of the Big Book of AA - Meeting 163

Joseph O. grew up on Long Island, New York. He graduated college with degrees in Psychology & Economics, but he would say his real major was Independent Study in Drugs & Behavior. He made a geographic shift to Los Angeles to get away from his drinking companions & start fresh but still made no real investment in Recovery. In LA he maintained some abstinence over 10 months or so but picked up again when a girlfriend moved on. Very rapidly he lost his job, apartment, and car and found himself on Skid Row living in a Christian mission with 200 other bottom rung cases. Finally on February 29, 1996 he crawled up the steps of a Jewish rehab. He was blessed with a great sponsor that got him into the work quickly and made the process fun & understandable. He was very active in AA around LA. Three years ago He moved to Jerusalem to continue his studies to become a Rabbi. Joseph is a proud member of Spiritual Gangsters and a believer that Alcoholism is a condition he needs to tread even today. Joseph attends meetings daily, leads a Book Study twice weekly focusing on going line by line in order to understand & apply the authentic message as a lifestyle. He has a sponsor and he sponsors & has a God Squad that he can rely on for feedback & support that is Program based. Joseph is a member of Jerusalem AA and active with Intergroup as Chairman of Public Information and member of H&I where he dedicates time to bringing the message to Rehabilitation facilities & jails. Page 63 of the Big Book is where he strives to live.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs. Josephine A - Seeing God Through Another's Eyes - Meeting 162

Josephine came into the rooms early 2020 more than 3 years ago after countless failed attempts to stop drinking. Little did Josephine know that putting down the drink was the start of what has been, and is the hardest, AND most rewarding part of her life so far. Josephine started drinking at 11 years old and is a blackout addict by her own words. She has been in and out of the rooms of AA, SLAA, CoDA, CA, DA, Greysheet, and OA. Only when Josephine wanted to die in recovery, feeling desperate and insane, did things change. Only then, she describes, that she found the hand of God as she understands God to be. Josephine says she never knew what it truly meant to give herself to this simple program until that day. And that today she does and is blessed and beyond grateful to be able to talk on the subject of “Seeing God Through Another’s Eyes “.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Laura Palmer - Taking the Shame Out of Addiction - Meeting 161

Laura Palmer - Taking the Shame Out of Addiction - Meeting 161

Laura is a mom of 4 who started struggling with a pain pill addiction with her last baby. Her struggle got terrible due to an epidural injury. The next 2 years were chaos and a decline that she didn’t even know was possible.  She racked up 5 felonies and jail and  prison time and thousands of dollars in fees and penalties. But her Higher Power, Christ saw her out of her addiction and now she gets to help others eliminate the shame in their own addiction story and find @the.road.back. Which, by the way, is her Instagram handle. Laura has been clean off of opiates now since May 27, 2014 and she also refuses to take pain meds, even through multiple surgeries.  She states that when she commits to God that she won’t take those drugs, God takes the pain, and makes the situation bearable. Sean B - Be Still and Know God - Meeting 160

Sean came into the rooms of AA on May 22nd, 2019 after coming to the realization that he was unable to regulate his emotional state without a drink. Hequickly recognized there was a large gap between the expectation of where hethought he would be in life and the reality of where he was. Whilehe was able to stay sober for a year, he half measured the steps and didn’tmake much spiritual progress. On February 27th, 2020, he came into the Spiritual Gangsters fellowship and threw himself into the steps, and abandoned himself to God. In that process, he has learned much about addiction, emotional sobriety andcodependency. He has worked with over 30 sponsees, and maintained 3 years ofsobriety from hard drugs and alcohol.  The pursuit of Stillness and God have made a massive difference in his own recovery.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Evie S - Life Changes Over 35 Years in Recovery - Meeting 159

Evie has been in CoDA for 35 years and has done service throughout most of that time at every level of the Fellowship in three different CoDA communities and at the world level.  She found CoDA after many years of therapy and other personal development efforts and believes that CoDA and the 12 steps have given her the most important tools she needed to heal her relationships especially with members of her family of origin.  She met the love of her life through recovery and they were together for 31 years and married for 29 before he passed away last June. Their relationship went through many periods of struggle and she truly believes that it would not have survived without the CoDA tools.  Her ongoing CoDA recovery and her many CoDA friends have been her primary support during this past year. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. To become a Reco12 Spearhead you can quickly and easily become a monthly donor here: https://www.reco12.com/support or you can do one-time donations through PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12) or Venmo:  @Reco-Twelve .  Thanks for your support! To record a Reco12 Shares … share or prayer, please link to https://www.speakpipe.com/reco12shares and leave a share or your favorite recovery prayer. Justin's Mistake Part 2 - Meeting 157 with Anita H

Justin's Mistake Part 2 - Meeting 157 with Anita H

Well...  I did it again... for the second time in 157 meetings.  I forgot to hit record when we started the meeting.  I will keep the summary of things below of what she talked about, and this quick recording is me trying to summarize Anita's share as well as taking responsibility for my error.  As was brought up in the meeting, "We will not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it."  Well... as much as I currently regret that I messed this up, I trust that soon enough, it can and will be used as something that I can draw from in the future to help another or myself in a hard time.  Anita H is from Spokane, WA.  She was born and raised there.  Here sobriety birthday from alcohol is 11/21/2018.  She previously worked as a chef.  That is where her alcoholism started, or so she thought.  In all actuality, from about 14 or 15 years old, she was already planning how she would drink.  Then at the age of 19, she began drinking.  At age 20, one of her co-workers died right in front of her and that experience caused PTSD.  This is when her alcoholism really got bad.  She was chasing alcohol to try to get the images out of her head.  She nearly drank herself to death in 2018, and the damage she did to her organs from this drinking is permanent. She says that each day comes with new challenges, but she has to take it one day at a time.  Alcohol, Anita says, does not care who you are, how many degrees you have, how rich you are, or how much you are loved by others.  She shares in this meeting how she strives to stay strong through the cravings that still happen. Thanks for your support! To record a Reco12 Shares … share or prayer, please link to https://www.speakpipe.com/reco12shares and leave a share or your favorite recovery prayer. To find Reco12 Shares on virtually any podcast platform and follow and listen, go here:  https://reco12shares.buzzsprout.com/share Resources from this meeting:Alcoholics AnonymousBig Book of AAOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.  This song, and/or the entire soundtrack for thSupport the showPrivate Facebook GroupInstagram PageBecome a Reco12 Spearhead (Monthly Supporter)PatreonPayPalVenmo: @Reco-TwelveYouTube ChannelReco12 WebsiteEmail: [email protected] to join WhatsApp GroupReco12 Shares PodcastReco12 Shares Record a Share LinkReco12 Noodle It Out with Nikki M PodcastReco12 Big Book Roundtable Podcast

Lenette M - Living Step 10 - Meeting 156

Lenette M - Living Step 10 - Meeting 156

Lenette came to SLAA back in 2014.  She had gone thru a divorce and her addiction really surfaced shortly after.  How her sex and love addiction shows up is that she feels she must be validated and chosen.  She ripped thru peoples’ lives and hurt many.  Only thinking of herself.  Lenette’s codependency shows up when in a relationship.  This looks like her micromanaging and pretty much giving up her life for her partner.  Lenette started her steps for the first time in 2014 with a sponsor when she got through step 2 and left, because she felt anger about and couldn’t figure out a higher power and couldn’t believe that God or something bigger than her actually loved her.  Because if it did, why was she an addict and suffering?  After several starts and stops, she finally got a Big Book sponsor and worked through all of the steps and started sponsoring others. As one of the results, she has found that she is loved and lovable.  Even if she is not in a relationship. Lenette now loves the 12 steps and finds that when she is taking a sponsee through them, it still moves her to tears.  She really loves living Step 10 as it can mean cleaning the slate each night and starting anew the next day.Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones. Peg O'Connor - Higher and Friendly Powers - Meeting 155

Peg O’Connor, Ph.D., is a Professor of Philosophy at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. Her training is in moral philosophy, feminist philosophy, addiction studies, and the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein. She believes that philosophy helped her to get and remain sober. Avoiding Alcoholics Anonymous for the first 20 years of her sobriety because of the concept of a “higher power,” she is focused on using some of the great canonical thinkers in western philosophy to illuminate dimensions of addiction. She further shares this in her new book, Higher and Friendly Powers: Transforming Addiction and Suffering (Wildhouse Publications, August 2022).Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and the similarities of recovery from all afflictions and addictions, and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are trudging this road. Leo came to NA in 2018 and has stayed clean for more than 4 years now.He came to the point when he became sick and tired of beingsick and tired. Leo spent a lot of time trying to find the solution, both whileusing and while staying clean. It ended being a long journey searching for the secret recipeof recovery, some sort of Philosophical Stone. He tried to find the perfectsponsor, perfect books, perfect step-working method, and even the perfectreligion. All these attempts eventually failed. After a long period ofdepression and after all his ideas let him down he finally started to develop areal contact with his Higher Power - Gods of his understanding. Buddy C. is an author, businessman, father, podcaster, and a spiritual seeker since his early teens. Through 12 Step recovery and open-mindedness to spiritual ideas outside of his comfort zone, Buddy has been sober for over 12 years as of this writing. Buddy recently wrote the award-winning book, Powerless But Not Helpless, a recovery interpretation of the Tao Te Ching.  A book that helps bridge the gap between a Power Greater than ourselves and the door knob. Ian S - The 10th Step & Its Promises - Meeting 151

Ian S - The 10th Step & Its Promises - Meeting 151

Ian is a recovered alcoholic of the sort described in the book Alcoholics Anonymous. He has an abnormal reaction to alcohol—but much more troublesome is the way he reacts to the absence of alcohol. Ian started drinking when he was a teenage boy, but it was in his 30s that he discovered his “utter inability to leave it alone, no matter how great the necessity or wish.” (p.34) This lack of power was not curable by any human power: neither expensive rehabilitation centers, nor the love he has for his beautiful four-year-old son, nor any other method he tried could free him from the insidious insanity of that first drink. But then, Ian had a profound spiritual experience, midwifed by a man who had suffered the same difficulty and found the same solution: the Twelve-Step program of spiritual action outlined in the same book that described my trouble exactly. Over the course of ten days, his sponsor took him through all twelve steps and he experienced complete recovery from that seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. He has not had a drink since. The 10th Step Promises play a huge role in his recovery.Resources from this meeting:Big Book of AAAlcoholics Anonymous12Steps4hoursSpiritual Gangsters MeetingsReco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are on this path. Ashley S - An Earnest Seeker - Meeting 150

Ashley S is a recovered sexaholic/lustaholic and codependent from North Carolina. She found herself emotionally in bondage until she discovered a miracle of healing through the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. By working the 12 Steps as outlined within the Big Book through the power of a loving God and her sponsor’s patient guidance, she recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. She had a life-changing spiritual awakening, which resulted in a new relationship with her Creator and a way of living which answers all her problems. Ashley has walked a free woman with newly found inner power and peace since November 2nd, 2021.With reliance upon Him, Spirit has shown Ashley how to create the fellowship she craved. The bright spot in her life is now sharing experience, strength, and hope primarily across AAA (All Addicts Anonymous) and AASS (All Addictions Step Study). Inspired by her sponsor’s men’s group called The Freedom Seekers, she formed its counterpart called The Serenity Seekers – an all addiction inclusive women’s lineage group. Ashley and her sponsor also founded an all addiction inclusive study of the Big Book called the “High Road to a New Freedom,” where by God’s grace they have carried the message for 30 weeks to numerous countries across the world.Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way.
