With A.I filling the headlines more and more - I wanted to throw back to a mix I was inspired to make after reading Mo Gowdat's "Scary Smart back in 2021. My favourite Progressive House always has a futuristic sound that really flicks my science fiction switch on. I like to use samples that accentuate those elements and make the listener think whilst on the journey of the mix. The sample I have used in this mix is from the voice of Mo Gowdat. Mo is the former Chief Business Officer of Google [X]. I read his book Scary Smart: The Future of Artificial Intelligence and How You Can Save Our World, which is a roadmap detailing how humanity can ensure a symbiotic coexistence with A.I when it inevitably becomes a billion times smarter than we are. My birthday is April 5th and my Mum's was on April 9th. This was a close bond we shared when she was alive. So, during the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic I wanted to lift my spirits, and thus my first 'Lost In' Project aired on Thursday 9th April 2020 on Facebook. During the entire lockdown and mixed live on Facebook, before they shut it down, Lost In was reaching 100's of people in their homes and gardens over the 4 and 5-hour-long genre-spanning mixes. The project ran for two and a half years continuing on Mixcloud. 83 mixes in total! This mix is a throwback to those special Thursday evenings mixed live on air with the Lost in Faithful from around the world connecting together online. I'm still full of gratitude for this project and how it reached like-minded, gentle souls who love their electronic music mashed up into a weekly audio journey. The mix was played on 7th April 2022. A bit of a first for PHUK. We're introducing Dave Moyle who has produced an entire mix of his own productions, which we've never done before on this podcast. It is therefore a very unique journey and adds to the variety of talent we offer and showcase on this podcast.Hugely inspired by music during his childhood, Dave became captivated by the sounds around him, ranging from various genres and movie soundtracks. He would often attempt to mix two tapes or even vinyl with tapes to create a unique blend of music. As he grew older, he frequented local events and clubs, where he was enamored by the DJs spinning and mixing tunes. This led him to purchase a set of turntables and he has been mixing ever since, covering all genres of music including 80s, 90s, Dance, House & Trance.Dave drew inspiration from well-known DJs like Armin Van Burren, Above & Beyond, Judge Jules, and Pete Tong, whom he admired for their work on their Radio 1 shows. He honed his skills in music production during his twenties, learning and perfecting his own style and sound. Dave has been a warm-up DJ for well-known artists such as Lange, Scott Bond, Solerstone, Dave Pearce, Manuel la Saux and Lee Haslem. He has also played on radio stations such as Sunderland's Spark FM, Unite Radio based in County Durham, and AATM in London. Dave has had numerous releases on record labels like Neostatics Sounds, Affiliate, Green Nights Records, and Blank Capsule Records, with many unreleased tracks on his Soundcloud account. His current sound is very unique and original, featuring nods to the 80s and 90s with melodic progressions and movie-inspired tranced-out beats. This is one of my ALL time favorite mixes by the mighty LTJ Bukem. This CD has a special place in my heart. I followed LTJ from the rave scene and subsequently bought every CD he has ever made. He's a true pioneer of his own sound. Progression Sessions Vol 1 in particular holds the most special place in my heart as it closely resembles a set I heard play live in 1998 in The Courtyard at Cream in Liverpool.
