He holds a master’s degree in political science, with research focusing on U.S. policy toward Palestine and Israel, and his media appearances include MSNBC, BBC, and Al Jazeera, among many other outlets.

According to Human Rights Watch’s 213 page report published in April 2021 illustrating the nature of Israel's apartheid, Israel systematically oppresses the Palestinian people both across the occupied Palestinian territory and within Israel itself. As part of her research, Iman also worked on listing two important sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List; one in Palestine (Battir Land of Olives and Vines) the other in Qatar (al Zubarah Archaeological site).

In the early 1980s the IDF declared the area a firing zone (“Firing Zone 918”), an action viewed by experts as a violation of international law and one clearly undertaken with the objective of forcibly displacing the Palestinian residents of the area to take control of the land. Last month, the Israeli Supreme Court rejected the residents' claims to the land in favour of the military, declaring the region a closed-off training area following the two-decade legal battle.  Residents fear expulsion and are already at the mercy of Israeli home demolitions and property confiscations while also facing regular harassment and violence from both the Israeli army and Israeli settlers. This morning, veteran Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was shot dead by Israeli forces while reporting for Al Jazeera from a Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin, occupied West Bank. Eye witnesses say Israeli snipers shot at her and a colleague, Ali al-Samoudi, who was also wounded by a bullet in the back, despite them both wearing press vests and helmets. According to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), at least 46 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israel since the year 2000 and no one has been held to account.

Palestinian residents are reportedly "under siege" in Sheikh Jarrah, with roads to the neighbourhood blocked off by Israeli Security Forces amidst ongoing abuse and intimidation of residents from Israeli settlers. There have been reports of property damage, multiple injuries and arrests, including the arrest of eight children since Friday 11 February. The Salem family is one of 218 Palestinian families, which comprise of at least 424 children, living in the East Jerusalem neighbourhoods of Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan currently facing threats of forced ethnic displacement by Israeli authorities. Humanitarian Country Team in Palestine, comprising United Nations Agencies and international and Palestinian NGOs released a statement on Friday 18th February saying: "The United Nations has repeatedly called for a halt to forced evictions and demolitions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem: under international humanitarian law, forcible transfers of protected persons by the occupying power are forbidden regardless of their motive."

Sam Bahour is a Palestinian-American, born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio and is managing partner of Applied Information Management (AIM), a consulting firm specializing in business development with a niche focus on start-ups and providing executive counsel. Bahour was instrumental in the establishment of two publicly traded firms: the Palestine Telecommunications Company (PALTEL) and the Arab Palestinian Shopping Center. He is currently an independent director at the Arab Islamic Bank, a policy analyst at Al-Shabaka, The Palestinian Policy Network, and an advisory board member of the Open Society Foundations’ MENA Office. Bahour serves in various capacities in several community organizations, including co-founder & emeritus member of Americans for a Vibrant Palestinian Economy (AVPE), and board member of Just Vision in Washington, D.C., among others. He writes frequently on Palestinian affairs and has been widely published in leading outlets.
