Ever since the age of 14, Nino always found painting as a way to express himself. Nino shares his experience coming to the Unites States from Indonesia to finish his high school studies through an exchange student program. After finishing high school, Nino decided to stay in the US and attend art school, at the Art Institute of Seattle where he ended up studying graphic design. Nino transferred to the Art Center in Pasadena, CA to continue his graphic design education as well as, packaging design. Nino expresses how during his time at school, art making was always lurking in the background, he was always making art on the side throughout school and into his professional career as a designer.Paige and Nino chat about why there are not more men engaging in online art communities. Nino questions why there are not more men taking courses for art? Are these online art courses not their thing or is it because men have been conditioned to not express themselves in general or through art? Nino expresses his own experience taking an online art course and dives into the why behind his own online art course, the Spice Art Club. Nino explains his online membership, the Spice Art Club as a layer or a process, it’s not meant to be perfect. Just like a painting, layer by layer, you will start to uncover ways to express yourself and create art without self doubt.
