33. Make it Happen ft. Midwest Manny
On today's episode we sit down with Emmanuel Cabrera aka Manny the owner of Gente Fina & Midwest Cargo Equipment, aside from his cargo business he has been making a name for himself for his clothing brand. I learned a lot about the brand from the homie Esteban who helped manny out for his New York Fashion week but then I find out Manny is also from the same area that I grew up in. We talk early beginnings, failing businesses, his proposal, how he started his other business and so much more. Manny has grown his brand organically and is able to tell his story through it so that's something I admire, I learned so much and I know any listener especially artists/designers can take away alot from this episode. The best way to hear it all is to listen all the way through. You can follow manny at @midwest.manny and follow his brand @gentefinachi to stay up to date on all his drops and releases.

32. Nostalgic Naveen
It finally happened! I sat down with @naveenissleepy someone that everyone has been telling me to have a conversation with! Naveen and I are very similar in that we design clothes, art and help our friends out when we can, our brands align in that we mix nostalgia and pop culture. Latley he has been going so crazy with Polywrl and freelancing it was an awesome learning more about him. One big difference between us is that Naveen started off as a producer, making beats for his friends that slowly transitioned into cover arts and now designing for some big names in our city. He is also friends with the members of T5 if you haven't listened to that episode please go back it's the funniest one i've had yet! Theres so much I already knew about him because I am a fan of his work but so much more he taught me about himself the best way to hear it all is to listen all the way through! Thank you for supporting the pod make sure you support Naveen follow his accounts @naveensissleepy and @polywrl to be up to date on all his drops! have a great day keep making pigs fly!

31. We're All Like Onions ft. Jake, Alex & Kevin
On this episode I sit down with 3/4 owners of Layer Chicago a local vintage resell store that has been making a big name for themselves reselling vintage clothing, furniture, art and so much more.
I recently met the guys after Esteban (@escofits) head stylist and selfless soul, introduced us, gave me a behind the scenes look at their store and we scheduled a day in the distant future to record.
The day came and I learned so much about how they started the companies they left behind to form this new collective and how their store name came about.
These 3 guys are the face of the store while Adam the one not on the podcast is the genius behind everything ( look forward to meeting him too!) I love how charismatic every one is and they have their own distinct styles, the store itself is amazing right on north avenue by one of the busiest areas in the city no wonder it's a success.
You can tell they love what they do especially since they're waking up at 3am some days to do it! I learned alot about vintage lingo and how to work with others in this episode there is alot of gems the best way to hear them all is to listen all the way through!
Thank you for sticking around make sure to comment or give us a 5 star rating! Keep making pigs fly!

30. Got it Out the Mud ft. Fedz
Welcome back! Fedz aka Fernando an artist here in Chicago came through and we have our first long format conversation on live on the podcast. Fedz and I have always bumped into each other at events but it was never enough time to truly get to know one another, after this conversation our friendship definitely grew.
I found out that we’re in the same industry not just as artist but signage! He talks about how he’s ready to leave his day job to pursue artistry full time, when he’s not painting murals he’s learning a new medium at the moment he is a tattoo apprentice. Soon he will master this too! We talk about his upbringing, going to Mexico to live with his grandparents, his journey from LA to Chicago and how he got his name.
As a child fedz would sculpt toys and figures out of mud, that slowly turned into actual sculptures and his love for art began. I learned so much about him and myself we are happy to have him and welcome him back anytime! A lot of gems buried in this episode the best way to hear them all is to listen all the way through thank you for supporting the pod and telling all your pals about us!
Follow Fernando @fedzart and you can support the pod by giving us 5 stars and following @pabspod ! Thank you keep making pigs fly!

28. La Ley Del Creativo ft. Mat Crea
This episode of the PDP (@pabspod) was filmed in Bogota, Colombia my hometown, I invited my artist friend @matcreativo to join me in our airbnb and shoot the shits!
Disclaimer: this episode will have subtitles on youtube!*
We had a great time I got to practice my Spanish a lot, and learned so much about Mat. From his upbringing to his dog Broly, our influences in anime, cartoons and how we put it into our art. I like to think of Mat of the version of me in Colombia lol he's a muralist, graphic designer, curates events where he puts on other artist (sound familiar?) But he also dedicates alot more time into graffiti and spray painting which I admire. I learn about "la ley del duende" his most recent event and the saying itself that comes from Colombia, we learn about his favorite method of creating, where he see's himself in 5 years, getting arrested, where his name came from and so much more!
the only way to know it all is to listen all the way through thank you so much for your support, thank you MAT and keep listening/ watching on youtube im excited to meet so many more artists.
Have a great day Make Pigs Fly!

We learn where their company came about and how it is really their love story, through shared experiences they find and sell pieces that played an essential part of becoming who they are.
Managing parenting and being business owners is tough we learn how they do it and how important it is to pray in this life. This episode reminded me why I love doing podcast's I'm able to learn so much about these creatives and the real passion behind their work.

26. Evolution of Ali Six
Welcome back! I caught Nikko aka AliSix at a very pivotable part of his life fresh off a Mexico trip and right before his Japan trip, we sat down and I learned a lot about the multimedia artist. You know his character Richie the Raccoon but latley he has introduced a new character "King" his Tiger we get into the development of him.
All the mural work he has been doing for small businesses and even bigger companies like Warner Bros. We talk about the importance of "showing face" and interacting with other artists, this could lead to being invited to be in future shows, but creating sick art is key! Nikko has been one of the most consistent artists in the city but he talks about how sometimes he feels like he's running in circles, getting out of the country has helped him stay inspired and get out of his comfort zone.
We talk about his graffiti background and how he transitioned to more character/ mural work, his encounters with the police and the best way to go about tagging now. You can tell Nikko has a passion for super hero's and cartoons, we talk about his biggest inspirations that even influence how he dresses now.
There's so much we cover in this episode thank you for listening all the way through you can follow his art: https://www.instagram.com/ali_six_/ and check out his website: https://www.ali-six.com/ he constantly drops new items & merch so stay tuned!

24. Brown Boys Unite ft. Rami, Younis & Momo
On this episode of the PDP I sit down with some of the funniest comedians in the world! Rami, Younis & Momo are 3/5ths of the comedy group Terminal 5, Chicago comics that have been making a name for themselves, putting on their own shows and bringing people joy for a couple years now. I've been a fan ever since I saw them do stand up and it's really a full circle moment to be able to have them on my podcast.
The night after recording this my face was so sore from laughing so much but what stood out to me the most was how genuine and kind these guys are, they do this for the right reasons and it shows. Even through the trolling and flaming you can tell how much love they radiate and anyone who goes to their events will feel that energy.
Rami speaks on his latest hour (that i got to witness and it's amazing) what inspired it from his early days in theatre to what's happening in Palestine now.
Younis recently moved to LA pursing comedy doing freelance work he is able to use his editing skills to pay rent but also to practice his sets even more.
Momo has his own show that he produces "Make Me Laugh" which showcases other comedians and does alot of the editing as well. Even though they're all hilarious you can tell how serious they are about their craft and the hard work is paying off. This podcast at it's core is about Art and comedy is one of the hardest art forms in my opinion but they do it so effortlessly.
Terminal 5 just had a show for new year but they're constanly doing more shows through out the year I know Rami just annoucned a couple dates check out his instagram to find him in a City near you and you can look forward to their 5 year anniversary show in August where I will definitely be attending.
This is the longest podcast I have ever done but it went so quick and there's still so much more i wanted to talk about either way i'm sure we will have them on again if they aren't too "Hollywood" disclaimer: the audio cut off for a bit so we used camera audio but it comes back

23. Don't Give Up! ft. DJ PBOY
we sit down with Fabio aka DJ P Boy a rising DJ out of Mcallen, Texas and Auroras cousin. First real time having a long format conversation with him but it was a great time this is his 2nd time being on a podcast usually behind his DJ board he can let the music do the talking but i'm really glad we got to see another side of Fabio. Fabio was born in Chicago and moved at a young age he tells us a little about his upbringing, wanting to be a soccer player but due to an ATV accident he found an interest in DJ'ing. Fabio recently completed school at Point Blank Los Angeles where he learned the in's and out's of the music business.
After this conversation I realized how determined DJ P Boy is to make his dream reality, he has been working gigs consistently from weddings to silent headphone club events having to adjust accordingly to peoples requests and still create his own sound. One of his goals is to DJ in Chicago and I have no doubt it will happen real soon.
Thank you DJ PBOY for taking the time to do this podcast and my lovely co-host for making this happen and explaining the concept of this pod so effortlessly.
We appreciate you listening, subscribing and watching our videos on youtube, make sure to follow Fabio @djp_boy11 and support him along his DJ Career
see you next week! Keep proving them wrong!

22. Yew Got Something to Say ft. yueskeyluna
This episode of the PDP we're blessed by the super talented Yeus, she's a multi media artist, youth advocate, content creator, photographer and so much more. She dabbles in any form of art and has made a name for her self in Chicago for her bright colors and warped fonts, we talk about her upbringing hitting the streets to tag, repurposing furniture that people donated and selling it back to them after she made it cool, how we met and how much we have in common. Yeus really is a fan of quality art even though she doesn't show her face much once you see her work you know it's her, I'm grateful to be able to sit down with her and learn more. Watch the full youtube video to see the woman behind all the great pieces and follow her as we go into 2024 she has alot more art to show us! @yueskeyluna

21. Still Dreaming ft. Ramiro Arte
Welcome back to the PDP (the Proud Disappointment Podcast ) my guest on this episode is a local artist that has been making a name for himself as a painter/illustrator. Ramiro Arte has been one of the most consistent, hard working artists in Chicago, constantly painting and putting himself out there I appreciate him taking the time out of his busy life to record a pod. Ramiro tells me what it’s like juggling a full time job and being a painter. How he grew up and his mother influenced him to be an artist but still dealing with immigrant mindsets needed to have a back up plan. I met Ramiro at Sentrocks Studio he hosted a pop up and been trying to book him since, he pulled up to Pabs & Pals 5 with a huge piece that sold immediately.
Right now he has a series showing at Side Practice Coffee and a few more showings this month. I had to reach out to learn a little bit more about him and what he’s thought of our industry. There’s a lot of similarities between Ramiro and I we both had kids young and now have 2. Excuse the first 10 minutes of the pod for geeking out on old Cartoon Network shows but they played a role in how we started.
Thank you for listening, subscribing on YouTube, and sharing with your loved ones. You can follow Ramiro at @ramiro_arte_ and check out his work at All Star Press. Have a great one! Remember to make pigs fly!

20. Pigs in the Clouds ft. Hrsh & Easeworld
PDP. 20: Pigs in the Clouds ft. Hrsh & Ease World On this episode we have special guests: @hrshwuzhere @easeworld and Rulò visiting me. We get into origins stories, where their names came from, how their folks feel about their career path and what made them dress so fly.
I met Ease through mutual friends and Chicago pop ups, we remember when I copped one of his running dog shirts and been cool ever since. Eventually Hrsh became another great pal of mine these past few years we been running into each other more and more. These two have been putting out consistent work for a couple years now with amazing visuals everything up to this point has been independent but we speak on if they would ever want to sign a deal. Being from Waukegan their wasn't a place for creatives to gather and work together so Ease and his friend's made it their mission to provide that for others in the area.
They talk about some of their events and how some even got shut down this reminds me of all the parties I threw back in the day. As much as I love shopping I start to feel guilty spending so much on clothes when I need to invest more money into my craft. These two have amazing style they make it known that in order to perform their best they have to look their best. I wanna thank them for taking the time to talk to me and give us a deeper look into their lives, you're probably used to hearing their voices but I wanted to provide a more personal perspective.
Im excited for their future and love what they are making if you haven't already go follow them @_hrsh and @easeworld on everything you wont regret it. You can follow me @pabsprints shop with me at pabsprints.com and you can support this pod anywhere you listen to your podcast.Have a great one and stay fly!

19. Produce Party ft. Melissa
Welcome to the PDP! proudly disappointing the haters since 2022! Today we have a great guest for you; she’s an artist, a designer, fruit activist, one of the most consistent in Chicago you might’ve seen her at your local pop up, navy pier, one of my shows let’s give it up for Melissa! AKA NO BAD FRUIT. Melissa has been artist all her life, playing drawing games with her family at the dinner table, selling her artwork at a young age she was destined to create. Through that talent she spreads the word about how much food waste there is in today's world, and chose fruit being that it's the number one most wasted category of all food groups. Melissa made the move from San Diego to Chicago through a scholastic soccer scholarship after she graduated school she now works as a multi media artist professionally. It was a big jump Melissa took but it led her to be involved in one of the greatest creative scenes in the world, she's vended at over 20+ events spreading the word about food waste and providing all sorts of paintings/ lifestyle products for the world.
We have vended at multiple events and also participated in pabs & pals 4. Since then she's been vending at all sorts of events most recently Renegade where she will be selling her new bandanas and other rare items. There was one time Melissa took a commission for No Bad Fruit, her client asked to change the shoes on a character and that's when she vowed to never compromise personal art again. If you want to commission Melissa for custom work you message her on her instagram @artbythatgirlmel we talk about how to balance comissions and personal work as well what to say no to. I learned a lot from her on how not to waste food and how we can become better humans.
You can shop with her on instagram and follow her @nobadfruit or in person I will share her events on my page @pabsprints you can support a great cause and an even greater artist.

18. Heaven Sent ft. Sentrock
On this episode of the PDP I sit down with one of the biggest artist in Chicago he's a painter/muralist, studio owner, podcaster, father all around genuine dude lets welcome SENTROCK to the pod! This is actually my first long format conversation with him, of course I've seen him around and made small talk but everything was surface level up until this podcast. We recorded this on literally the hottest day of the year, he showed up with some good wine and even greater vibes needless to say I learn a lot.
This pod has a little bit of everything for everyone ( especially the dads) we dive into his early life in west Phoenix, constantly being "sent" to the principles office, what his parents thought about his art and how he eventually made it over to Chicago to create the "Bird City Saint" iconic red mask we all recognize and love. We get into what really makes a good father, as much as everything looks perfect on social media thats never truly the case.
Both of our families paved the way for us to create art / podcast's etc.., some people might refer to us as hard workers but it compares nothing to the work that our parents/ grandparents put in. Now that we're fathers we have to figure out how to do the same for our kids, it's hard balancing giving them everything they want while not raising them to be entitled.
SentRock gives us his origin story, 12 years ago fresh on the scene looking for galleries to show his art, after getting denied countless times he made his debut at Elephant Room on Wabash where he had his first show " Alter Ego's" and the rest was history, now he has whole museum exhibits and solo shows all over the country.
His show at the Elmhurst Musuem was a big inspiration of mine, there's an underlying theme about flying & freedom that we have in common. 6 years ago I went to the same museum but for Hebrew Brantley another big Chicago artist that has taking his art to an even crazier level. We talk about getting compared to other artist but we are all small parts of this new age renaissance of art. As much as we try to push the limit we are all inspired by our environment and are more similar than we think, the only true thing that sets us apart are our individual stories that we try to tell through our work.
I just want to thank SENTROCK for taking the time to get to know me a little more, I learned so much from this episode and there's so much more I wanted to ask him but one podcast couldn't cover it all, I'm hoping this grows into a great friendship and we continue to work with each other.
Follow him @sentrock and check out his studio in Pilsen: 2059 W 18th St, Chicago, IL 60608
you can follow me at @pabsprints thank you for listening, subscribing and sharing the pod, you can watch full video's of these on my youtube @pabsprints and you can shop new art/ clothes on my website pabsprints.com!

17. My Son Takes Over ft. Lucas
On this episode I sit down with my greatest creation of all time, he is my best friend, my right hand man, one of, if not, the biggest reasons I work so hard, he's an artist, card collector, youtuber, just out here living his best life; lets welcome LUCAS to the proud disappointment podcast. We recorded this on his 6th birthday, I record him every now and then but this is the first one for the public. It's hard have a long format discussion with a 6 year old since they want to just get back to enjoying life but he is my favorite person to talk to.
I ask Lucas a few questions about life and how i'm doing as a parent, we recall his very first memory ever and how he feels turning 6. We tried to do a snack review but it wasn't working too much background noise and not enough snacks we need to make a whole video of us just trying out new snacks. This episode was alot of fun I learned a little bit more about my son and how he views the world. Try to give him a little advise and he does the same for me.
Thank you for listening, watching on YouTube and subscribing so you're up to date on everything PABS. My son also has a youtube channel we take our time with dropping videos but he get's so happy when he gets new subscribers so go check out his channel Lucas's Dungeon.
Have a great day and remember to make pigs fly!

16. Closed Mouths Don't Get Fed ft. ErickTooDope
On this episode of the PDP I'm accompanied by one of the hardest working DJ's in Chicago, we grew up in the same area, he's a vibe creator, a podcaster, you might have seen him on TikTok providing great sounds welcome Erick Too Dope!!! Erick has been one of my go to DJ's any of my events shit I might even need him to DJ the baby shower, he's always ready to work and has been motivating me to keep going for a while now.
We first met in person fr back in 2020 when I was a guest on his podcast "Dawg House Radio" it was clear back then Erick had an ear for good music but he hadn't begun his DJ journey yet. We get into what it's like having to rely on your team and the side gigs that might get in the way of the main vision as well as just life in general getting in the way of our goals. Erick is recently unemployed which we celebrate because the goal is always to be our own boss but that comes with hardships...We talk about motivating our friends even when they might not even want the same things for themselves. Some of his favorite locations to DJ at and some of the annoying ones that don't let you pay anything you want. His favorite Genre and what inspired him to become a DJ.
Funny haircuts and how we adapt when we think there's nothing we can do Erick reminds us ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, a lot of great gems and cool stories on this pod I learned a lot about Eric and myself. Thank you for listening, watching on youtube and most importantly subscribing to our podcast. You can follow Erick @erick_too_dope check out his content and his podcast Dawg House Radio https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/13-pabs-squared/id1507699296?i=1000520556352

15. Moving Out + Baby Number Two
quick life update, things have been so hectic for the last 6 months it's been tough for me to catch my breath. Recently I announced that I am having my second child, since then I moved in with my girlfriend and also transitioned from the studio in Skokie to a smaller studio in Chicago. This new place is a bigger podcast studio but way smaller artist studio so it's been taking some time getting used to the change in square footage.
I recently dropped the last recap video at the old space and it was really emotional editing it, knowing that we will never be there again was a hard pill to swallow but every ending has a new beginning, that video is on my youtube now if you haven't already go check that out!
Waiting for baby #2 has been emotional and beautiful I wasn't in the same head space for my first born so I'm excited to use all the experience and knowledge I learned to become an even greater father.
I give my thoughts on the world ending and time travel this was therapeutic for me and I'm excited to show you guys the next batch of guests coming on the pod!

14. Let's Get Uncomfortable ft. Tony Mayne
Welcome back to the PDP (Proud Disappointment Podcast) today i'm accompanied by one of the most consistent individuals in the world, the owner/creator of Consistent Co., if you've been in the Chicago pop up/streetwear scene you've most likely seen one of his products; @tony_mayne! We have a very inspirational episode Tony is very passionate about his craft and has accomplished so much in these 7 years of creating. From clothing, NFT's, paintings, weed strains, rolling papers anything you can think of he's dabbled in.
We speak of on roots, freelancing, creating products we use everyday. The origins of his clothing line @consistentclan and how his brand came about, constantly showing up first one in last one out mentality. Tony moved out to Colorado for school but maintained a Chicago presence he comes back every now and then to "recharge" but he explains how he prefers the rural-ness of being outside of the city. Tony started his artistic journey from a graffiti background and that transitioned into graphic design and now he takes on clients from all over working as a freelancer, he tells us how he overcame a teacher telling him his art wasn't going to work. We get into the the Picket Signs Tony makes and what they mean to him. Those tagging days did get him into a little bit of trouble with the law though, he tells us the story about how he almost got arrested in Detroit and the police escorted them out of the city.
Reminiscing on the first pop ups we worked together in Pilsen and not too long ago he participated in Pab's & Pals 5 where he sold both of his pieces. Tony has a great group of individuals that support his brand "the clan" always comes out anytime he host's an event. As a clothing designer it's hard to sell a shirt and even harder to gain a faithful customer, it took a while for some of the consistent clothes to sell but that never stopped Tony he always believed in the vision and even bought out his partners so that he could take this business into his own hands.. I see a lot of similarities between me and Tony we both have big aspirations, love Red Bull, have multiple entities/ companies in our name and won't take no for an answer.
A lot of gems in this episode, thank you for reading this, listening, subscribing and sharing we appreciate you so much this podcast is a labor of love I want to amplify the voices of people who I consider hard working and passionate. I wanna say thank you Tony for coming on and giving us all this free game and for consistently creating and pushing the limits. Follow him @tony_mayne & his brand @conistentclan. 13. Taking Accountability ft. Bubby Beats
On this episode I sit down with Bubby Beats a local producer/artist and good friend who has been supporting my brand for a couple years now. I found out Bubby is actually from my neighborhood of Northlake, our families homes are literally blocks away and we didn't cross paths until mutual friends started rapping together. It's crazy how the universe works. Bubby get's into how he started producing, how he started making music and what it's like preforming for his biggest inspirations. We dive into the human conscious and how bias humans can really be, Bubby is very self aware and it's noticable in this episode he teaches Pablo alot about mental health. We speak on our experiences with therapy and the time's we felt we were at our lowest. Pablo is ready to move out of his parents home this will result in some uncomfortableness that he is prepared for but wants everything to go as smooth as possible. Thank you for listening and watching on youtube this podcast is about vulnerability and showing a more personal side to creatives and entrepreneurs.

12: Salud y Vida ft. Abuelita Gladys
This episode is in Spanish watch it on youtube for the subtitles, today we're accompanied by one if not the most important persons in my life; my Grandma! Gladys was a professional basketball player for Bogota, a teacher, an artist, the first person that taught me how to be creative and so much more than words can describe. She tells us about her home life, which one of her parents was more strict, living with 13 brothers and sisters my grandma was one of the youngest who is still around. Gladys practically raised me for the first years of my life since my parents both worked from morning to late night and has always made me feel like a prince. When I moved to the states it was tough on her the most, losing her grandson she pleated with my mother to let me stay but my mom would tell her it I was her son and she had to be the one to raise me. This is very similar to how my mom has been taking care of my son funny enough this week I move out so I'm sure it will be hard on her as well not living in the same house but at least I'm not moving out of the country. My grandma tells us what she's proud of what she regrets and wishes she had did but reminds us that it all happened for a reason. I'm really proud of this episode she is so insightful and gives some great advice for anyone that has creative blocks or doubts themselves. We get into vices, Marijuana, Drinking etc.. Recalling my mental breakdown she tells me her perspective and how she didn't recognize me during that time. There's so much to unpack on this episode I cry for the first time in a longtime so thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable and show you different sides of myself that make me..me. This episode will be cherished for the rest of time I'm hoping my grandchildren will see it and see how amazing my grandma was and all my future generations, she makes a nice shoutout at the end to all our loved ones. Thank you for listening, watching and supporting my business it's been a slow grind but we're chipping away at it every day. Remember to not be ashamed of yourself and keep doing what you love.
