Welcome to the Online Store Success Podcast. If you are determined to create, launch and scale your fashion, lifestyle or beauty product online (without the expensive pitfalls), this podcast is for you.
I’m your host, Jodie Minto. I'm an award-winning 7-figure fashion founder, e-commerce business coach, certified digital marketer, and meta ads specialist. I’m also a mum of two teens and two fur babies and live on the sunny Central Coast of NSW.
I started my online fashion store from scratch while working full time, juggling young kids and living in the Middle East. I scaled that business to a 7-figure online brand before selling it last year.
This show is dedicated to showing you how I did it and how you can, too. Hit subscribe now, and let’s dive in.

50. The real issue that is stopping you from scaling your sales
In today’s podcast we're unraveling the true challenge that's been holding you back from reaching your sales aspirations: it's all about traffic and conversions.
Last week we explored the myth surrounding your products and prices as potential sales obstacles. So now, let's tackle the real elephant in the room: traffic. Without a consistent, targeted flow of visitors, your conversion goals will remain elusive. Think of traffic as the lifeblood of your eCommerce venture; without it, sales simply won't materialise.
But not all website visitors are created equal. Some are new, cold visitors, while others are warm, returning ones. The crucial question: how many visitors do you need daily? This hinges on your conversion rate. A typical eCommerce conversion rate is around 1%. That means, out of 100 targeted daily visitors, you might expect just one sale. Imagine aiming for $2,000 in daily sales; with a 1% conversion rate, you'd need a staggering 2,000 visitors daily.
So, how can you drive this traffic to your store? There are two main approaches:
Organic Traffic: This comes naturally through non-paid search engine results or organic social media posts. Think SEO optimisation, content-driven marketing, and engaging blog posts.
Paid Traffic: This involves visitors coming through paid advertising, like Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, and more.
It's a smart strategy to combine both organic and paid traffic methods. If rapid traffic increase is your goal, paid strategies like Facebook and Instagram ads are your go-to solution.
For an in-depth analysis of your daily visitor needs, check out the helpful calculator I've designed: Website Visitor Calculator
Building a robust traffic strategy and optimising conversions are key aspects I dive into within the Online Store Success program. The last round of Online Store Success for 2023 starts August 21. Grab your spot while there are still places!

49. Why your products or prices aren’t the problem that's stopping you from making sales on your online store (and what actually is instead).
Today we are diving deep into the heart of e-commerce success. Ever wondered why your products or prices might not be driving the sales you dream of? We often think that the problem lies within our products or the pricing. But guess what? That’s rarely the issue.
Before I continue summarising the episode, I want to let you know that I have spent the last few days running a live training program which ends tomorrow. Our main event, Learn the 6-figure secrets to scaling your online store to 6-figures and beyond will be live at 12pm AEST Thursday 10 August. Join me to learn more about eCommerce success!
In this episode, we'll break down the barriers holding your sales back and uncover the real issues that deserve your attention. The economy might seem uncertain, but it's not the sole culprit behind sluggish sales. Remember Taylor Swift's concerts that sold out like hotcakes, despite any economic turmoil? That’s because effective positioning and marketing can create demand even in challenging times.
You know what's often the real issue? It's the lack of eyeballs on your products. Your website might be the best-kept secret, and that's where we need to start.
And then we need to talk about your brand's voice. Does it resonate with your product offerings? If not, we need to align them. And those marketing strategies you're using? They need to be consistent and effective. It's not about trying every trick in the book; it's about the right strategies tailored for your business.
We're entering the pivotal fourth quarter where e-commerce businesses make their biggest profits. This is your time to shine. So, whether you're considering starting an online store or taking your existing one to greater heights, now's the perfect moment.
Join Me in the Journey
Remember, I've been in this business for over two decades, and I've helped countless entrepreneurs achieve their e-commerce dreams. You're not alone on this journey. Tune in next week, as we unravel the mystery behind driving more eyeballs to your website.
And hey, if you're eager for more insights, don't miss my Six Figure Secrets Training. It's packed with practical strategies to elevate your store to the next level.

46. Getting started with Facebook and Instagram ads for your eCommerce business
I love Facebook and Instagram Ads. Some people call me a nerd, but I know first hand they can be a game-changer for accelerating the growth of your e-commerce store.
Ask any multiple figure 6 or 7 figure a year ecommerce business owner what their biggest driver of traffic and sales is and I’d put money down that they will tell you it’s via paid ads - particularly Facebook and Instagram ads.
Paid Social Media Ads are the number one lever you can pull in your business to scale your traffic and sales FAST.
People often say to me, right now I’m going to focus on:
Organic social mediaSEOWriting blog postsFinding brand ambassadorsLearning Tiktok dance routines videos
And while all of these do help drive traffic to your website, they are a slow burn and require lots of time and effort to get traction.
If you want more traffic and sales NOW, the quickest and easiest way to do that is via Facebook and Instagram ads. You can literally ‘turn the tap on or off’ as you please and you will see instant results.
Paid Facebook and Instagram ads are one of the fastest ways to send traffic and sales to your online store.
Facebook ads allow you to:
Reach a new audience FASTBuild brand awareness and loyaltyInstantly increase your website trafficGrow your email list and social media by followingRemind previous customers to come back for another visit. Gives you SO much valuable data (even if you didn't make any sales from that campaign) as to who exactly is resonating and clicking on your ads.
PLUS despite all of the changes and all of the confusing mambo jumbo talk circling online, it’s actually easier than EVER to self-manage your ads yourself.
Gone are the days of needing complex funnels, and testing a gazillion interests against each other. The platform is simpler than ever, despite what you may have heard.
Tune in to today's episode to hear whether you are ready Facebook ads for your business, and how to bet my help with your ads.
What I cover in today's episode is just a little of what I teach inside of Online Store Success where we dive much deeper into using the power of paid Social Media ads.
In Online Store Success you will learn how to get started DIY'ing your Facebook and Instagram ads (and save thousands each month on agency fees).
You will learn everything from technical set-up to creating audiences, and how to build ads for both cold and warm audiences.
You will also learn the latest strategies as to what's working and what's not and how to create a paid traffic sales funnel for your store, AND how to measure your results including knowing which ads to turn off and which to scaleOnline Store Success is a game changer for eCommerce business owners needing to increase their sales, and pronto. 45. How to use organic social media to drive traffic and sales to your online store
Where, when and how to turn up on social media is often completely overwhelming for most small business owners. It’s just another thing we have to do, added to a never-ending list of tasks we need to do to keep all the plates spinning and sales coming in.
Some folks love it - some loathe it. Either way, it is fairly necessary for several reasons.
I’ve spoken before about how traffic is the lifeblood of an eCommerce business, and organic social media is an important part of that traffic formula.
While it’s just one marketing tactic that fits into our sales funnel, it’s an important one, as we spend SO much time on social media apps these days. It makes sense to go where your potential customers are already spending time. You are meeting them where they already are, giving them a chance to stalk you and even chat with you to get to know you more and decide if you the right business for them.
Digital marketing is all about reaching customers across different touchpoints and multiple times. Social media allows us to do just this, reminding customers we still exist and hopefully popping up in their feeds regularly and consistently.
Tune in to hear about:
- Why you need social media for your business
- Which platforms you need to be on
- What and how often to post
-What's working right now.

44. How to Build a Winning Website
Welcome to this episode of Online Store Success. Today I’m chatting about Websites - a winning website that is!
So what is a winning website? It’s one that is built to convert as many website visitors to customers as possible, on autopilot (while you sleep!). Can I get a ka-ching!
Your website is the equivalent of a brick-and-mortar shop front - first impressions are everything. And sometimes we are too close to our website to see the holes in it.
We are more often than not looking inside the back end of Shopify / rather the public-facing website and we know exactly where everything is (because we put it there) and just assume everyone else will know too right (a bit like my husband's wardrobe…).
Think about shopping in person at your local shopping centre or mall. When you approach a new store for the first time, would you stick around for a long if there were boxes everywhere blocking your path? If there were inches of dust in the window display, and cobwebs around, would you be willing to stay?
How about if you have a question or want to try something on - what if there was no sales assistant there to help you?
We need to consider the user experience of our website visitors the same way you would if they were visiting you in real life. That is, you need to make a great first impression and help guide them through your store in order to make a sale.
Now obviously we can’t do that as easily online, however, there are 10 crucial elements that will help you do that online in order to scale your business to a million-dollar-a-year eCommerce store like mine, iland co.
Tune into today's episode to hear exactly what these elements are.

43. Building an iconic brand
Welcome to this episode of Online Store Success.
In the last episode (episode 42 go back and have a listen if you missed it here) we talked about getting clear on WHAT your niche is, and WHO exactly your customer is.
This week I’m talking about your brand and how it aligns with your niche and attracts your ideal customer (ideally). But sometimes we get it wrong...
In this episode, I chat about:What exactly is a brand?
Why is it important?
How do you build one or refine an existing one?
What if your brand no longer fits your business, your customers or your products?
This is just a little of what I teach inside Online Store Success which is opening for enrolment in early August.
In Online Store Success we break this down even more and develop:
Your brand identity
Key messaging
Your brand bible

42. Nailing your Niche - Do you really know who you are selling to?
Welcome to this episode of Online Store Success.
Today we are going to chat about whether you might be missing out on loads of possible sales by missing the mark on pinpointing your niche and ideal customer.
Many businesses I see are trying to be everything to everyone in the hope more people will buy from them, and what happens is that no one actually resonates with the business or brand and the sales just don’t come.
So how do we figure out what our niche is and who our customers are? Tune in and find out.
Today’s episode just scratches the surface of what is covered in Online Store Success, which I’m thrilled to let you know is coming back in August this year! This is the first time in over 18 months I’ve run this game-changing program that couples coaching, curriculum and coaching.

41. A cautionary tale about house painting (and how it relates to business)
Today I am sharing a cautionary tale about house painting. No, I have not shifted my focus to become a renovation podcast! Inside this house improvement story there is a lesson that relates to business. Tune in to hear more.
******
Four years ago, my husband loudly declared that he was going to paint the entire outside of our house. Now this announcement had me perplexed because my husband is no house painter - he is a plumber! And when I questioned whether this was a job he could, er even wanted to, achieve, he told me: “I am not paying somebody else to do this job when I am perfectly capable of doing it myself.”
Can you relate to this way of thinking? Have you ever decided to tackle a task that was not your skill set, just so you could save a few dollars?
Well, I probably don’t need to tell you how the house painting ended. Let me just say - when my husband declared himself finished, there was still a lot of work left to do. Now in fairness to my husband he is not a house painter. He didn’t even have the tools to complete the job properly. He had thought that, because he could open a tin of paint, he could complete the work. And by the end of the process he was wishing he had never begun!
How many times do we take on projects in our business that we are not equipped for, or don’t even have the time for?
This happens so often with social media campaigns. Are you guilty of trying to run your own social media campaign and finding it fall flat on its face? Do you have a friend who tells you social media ads are a waste of money because they tried it once and it didn’t work?
If this sounds like you, I have the perfect solution. I have a number of workshop and coaching programs that will equip you with the proper tools and knowledge you need to be able to run your own social media ad campaigns.

Today I’m chatting with a friend and also a mentor of mine, the infamous Kate Toon!
Kate is a powerhouse in her own right, is known as the ‘Beyonce’ of the SEO world, a digital marketing coach, Copywriter, Author, Bumfluencer, Mum, partner, 7-figure business owner, and downright great human.
Kate helps business owners build a successful, profitable, and enjoyable business. Using smart, creative, simple digital marketing tactics.
Kate’s about to embark on a book tour in major cities around the country and I’m honoured to be interviewing Kate at her Central Coast launch party, Friday 23rd June. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, but sure to do so today before they sell out via the link in the show notes.
In this episode, Kate and I get serious about the reality of running a business, raising small humans, maintaining healthy relationships, keeping up with the laundry, and the truth of existential crisis. (How did we fit this all into 30 minutes?!)
It’s true, Kate is a powerhouse, but she is honest to admit that she doesn’t even try to do it all alone. She has a team. Because we don’t need to burn ourselves into the ground in order to run a successful business. Kate and I have both experienced small and scaled businesses and we reflect on the changes in business practice and profit margins when income grows.
We talk about healthy profit margins, how to balance work and housework, and we dispel the myth of working-from-home as being liberation. We even break down the complexities of marriage and gender roles. This is an episode you don’t want to miss!

39. How many website visitors do you really need each day?
Are you struggling to get the sales you need on your online store each day? 😭
Worried it could be your products, your prices, or your website that is broken? After 6+ years of coaching eCommerce clients, my guess is you have a traffic problem and that your products, prices and website are fine! More often than not, a lack of consistent, quality daily visits (traffic) is the problem.
Today, I’m unpacking how you can get clear on EXACTLY how much traffic you need each day to meet your sales goals. Let’s get started.
After 6+ years of coaching other online store owners AND running my own eComm store for 9 years, I know that traffic, aka website visitors, is an online store's lifeblood. No traffic = no sales; it’s as simple as that.
But not all traffic is the same. There is cold traffic versus warm traffic, higher quality traffic that comes from organic searches, recommendations or returning customers, and lesser quality traffic that might come from a ‘traffic’ campaign in Facebook or a bot (the horror!).
But lack of traffic is more often than not the biggest challenge online store owners face BUT they don’t always realise it’s their biggest issue. Online store owners often assume it’s their products, prices, website or a thousand other things
So, how much traffic do YOU need each day to meet your sales goals?
Well, that depends on a few factors.
What is your average order value?
What is your average conversion rate?
And HOW much sales/revenue do you want to make each day?
These metrics will guide you as to how many daily visitors you need.
Tune in to hear exactly how many website visitors you need a day.

38. Are you focusing on the wrong thing in your marketing?
Welcome to this episode of Online Store Success. Today I’m chatting about focus, particularly where you're focusing most in your marketing efforts.
You see after 6.5 years of coaching eCommerce clients AND building and scaling my own online 7-figure fashion business I’ve learnt much about marketing and common pitfalls we find ourselves in as small business owners.
There’s one huge pitfall I see (and have landed in myself many a time) that I see time and time again.
And this pitfall costs us customers, sales, time and frustration.
Because if we are doing this one thing wrong, it will drastically affect the success of our marketing efforts (and business).
It’s something that I can confidently say we’ve all been guilty of doing at some stage in our business.
So what is it you ask? Tune in and found out!

So what’s working right now in Facebook ads you ask? Tune in to hear exactly what is (and isn't working right now) in Facebook ads land.
For the speed readers, below is a high-level re-cap.
1. Broad audiences
Broad audiences are great for so many reasons - not just because it makes ad creation super easy, but because:
They don’t burn out after a few days
They give us cheaper results - for every customisation we ask of Facebook we get charged extra
Interests don’t necessarily work anymore after IOS updates
They rely on machine learning which is what FB recommends (and rewards us with lower CPCS)
If you aren’t using broad audiences right now - it’s time to try them!
2. Dynamic creatives- do the testing for you, lets the algorithm find the best combination
Dynamic creatives are my new go-to and are like the lazy girls' guide to both building and testing which ads your audience wants to see.
Toggle on the ‘Dynamic creatives’ button at the ad set level and then when you get to the ad creation stage, you can load up to 10 different visuals, 5 text options, 5 headlines, 5 link descriptions and 5 calls to action.
Pro tip - don’t use ALL of the options if you are running a low-budget campaign, as it will spread your ad spend across all of the combinations and you will find it takes FOREVER for any one ad combination to have enough spend allocated to it to be successful.
3. Account simplification
It’s time to stop running ads like it’s 2015. Gone are the days of having hundreds of ad sets testing for single interests audiences, and then different creatives (and then duplicating those testing against CBO vs ABO)
The new way forward is fewer campaigns, with fewer ad sets within them.
And as a busy eCommerce business owner that is probably trying to do ALL of the things, I’m sure you don’t have time to stare at column after column in ads manager trying to figure out the winners.
It's time for fewer campaigns, and less complicated funnels and Im sure for many this will be welcome news!4. Lower daily budgets
Yep, this one is new - starting your campaigns at a lower daily spend seems to be rewarding advertisers with a lower cost per conversion than starting the campaign at a super high budget.
There is lots of discussion around daily budgets and that starting your campaign on our lower daily budget makes FB work harder for your dollars, in comparison to a much higher daily budget where FB has more runway and ad spend to burn through.
If you are starting ads at $200 a day and they aren’t getting you the CPCs you want, try recreating that ad on $80 a see if there’s a difference.
Pro-tip. Set yourself ‘rules or benchmarks’ as to when to turn off ads. If historically your cost per sale from FB ads is $50 per sale and you’ve created a new campaign that’s spent $200 without a sale, I’d switch it off and try again. If you want to run the test I mentioned, be sure to let the $ 80-day campaign reach the same total spend amount as what your $ 200-a-day ad hit, before you turned it off. That way you are comparing apples with apples.
5. Outside-of-the-box retargeting strategies
As I mentioned before, broad audiences are what FB wants us to use, and reward us with cheaper CPCs. But what if you want to retarget your warmest audiences? Sure, you can create a conversion campaign retargeting them but what you will probably find is that the cost per sale in the retargeting ad is higher than the cost per sale in the broad campaign. Remember every customisation (ie. specific audience) we ask of FB, the higher the price we pay.
So this flips everything we know about retargeting on its head, right?
Here are some strategies that you could try:
Choose a different objective for your retargeting audience such as clicks, landing page views, video views, reach or awareness. While these ads won’t be optimised for SALES, this audience is lower-hanging fruit so to speak, so having them reminded to click back through to your site for another look via a traffic ad, might still convert.
Switch conversion retargeting ads on and off for certain time frames, rather than letting them run continuously. Post-IOS changes mean Facebook doesn’t know exactly who those retargeting folks are if they have opted out of tracking, so that means your audience size has shrunk significantly and they will see your ad over and over and over again if the ad is left to run continuously.
Retarget 'on Facebook' or Instagram audiences as Facebook can pinpoint these users as the actions were performed on their platform.
I hope you found this jam-packed episode helpful!

31. Why Facebook advertising is the BEST Way to accelerate your sales
Do you know what the difference between a struggling eComm store and a 6 or 7 Figure one is?
Paid Ads.
Plain and simple.
Paid Social Media Ads are the number one lever you can pull in your business to scale your traffic and sales FAST.
People often say to me, right now I’m going to focus on:
Organic social media
SEO
Writing blog posts
Finding brand ambassadors
Learning Tiktok dance routines videos
And while all of these do help drive traffic to your website, they are a slow burn and require lots of time and effort to get traction.
If you want more traffic and sales NOW, the quickest and easiest way to do that is via Facebook and Instagram ads. You can literally ‘turn the tap on or off’ as you please and you will see instant results.
Facebook ads allow you to:
Reach a new audience FAST
Build brand awareness and loyalty
Instantly increase your website traffic
Grow your email list and social media by following
Remind previous customers to come back for another visit.
If you are ready to learn how to confidently self-manage your Facebook ads yourself, check out my One-Ad-Wonder workshop series where you can learn a super easy strategy that you can set up in less than an hour that will bring you your next 10 x sales.

22. Why I closed my million dollar eCommerce Store...
Is your business for a reason, a season but perhaps not a lifetime?
In this week’s episode, I want to tell you a story. It’s a true story, with all the highs and lows you’d expect.. And better still, it’s my story. And it includes some amazing lessons, some hard truths and yes, a lot of vulnerability
Over the last few months, I’ve been making some HUGE business decisions behind the scenes. Life-changing decisions. But before I tell you about them I want to take you back in time.
It was 2014 and I was ready to start my own fashion business.
Like many of you, I wanted to escape my corporate job and create a career on my own terms.
I wanted freedom and flexibility over my time.
I wanted the mythical ‘laptop lifestyle’ (yes I’m doing air fingers)
Over the last 8 years, the business has gone from humble market stall beginnings to a million-dollar-a-year fully-fledged eCommerce business with a fancy office, a team of staff I love and loyal customers over the world.
I’ve won a host of business awards, featured in many newspapers, radio segments, magazines and more and done 5-figure sales days, sold out of collections in minutes.
We launched into the US, have a heap of wholesale customers and a stand-alone B2B website and even did our first wholesale trade show in Melbourne this year.
I was kicking all of the business goals.
But personally all that came at a cost.
And I want to be really honest about that, even though it’s a little painful for me.
It started on a family holiday when yet again I found that I was working like a mad woman, glued to my laptop rather than enjoying family time.
This wasn’t what a laptop lifestyle was supposed to look like.
I had become a slave to my business in the pursuit of scaling and growing to the ‘next level’...
The truth was.
Despite having a team I could never take a day off, let alone a week.
I was working myself to the point of physical and emotional breakdown in order to continue feeding ‘the beast’ that I had created in order to keep on scaling.
I was constantly stressed trying to ensure enough revenue was coming in to meet the large overheads such as wages, rent, big supply bills, electricity, new product development, sampling, rising costs by the day and everything in between.
In truth, I was utterly miserable because of it.
I was back working full-time in an office environment, which was one of my main reasons for starting the business in the first place - to not have to do that! But now with the added responsibility of paying ALL the bills, managing staff for which I was not equipped to do or really even wanted to do, including paying consultants to teach me about building a strong culture and working on my leadership skills which are not where I ever envisioned myself.
My skills and interests are in big-picture thinking and ideas, digital marketing and analytics,-not in HR conducting annual performance reviews or building office cultures, not designing fashion pieces and managing production, not in recommending style tips to customers or dealing with yet another lost or delayed customer order threatening to take us to a current affair if we didn’t deliver their kimono IMMEDIATELY…
With each new level of business, instead of questioning “is this what I actually want?”, I rolled with it hoping that by building a bigger business focused on growth, I’d be able to hire more people to help, expand our product range even more and perhaps sell the business later down the track for a big fat healthy cheque.
But I already wasn’t enjoying the business in its current form and hiring more people and creating more designs were the things I hated the most…. Growth meant more and more of this! It meant more work, more hours in the office and more moving away from my initial WHY I started the business in the first place.
And so on that holiday back in April this year, I seed was planted in my mind that I couldn’t shake… ‘is this what I truly want?’ And for the next 6 months, I came up with a thousand different ways that I could try and fundamentally change my business... But none of them had any hope… because a creative business (or any business for that matter) needs a passionate leader at its helm. And I’d completely lost my passion to the point of being resentful of the position I found myself in. I felt trapped, unable to escape from this business I so desperately wanted, but was so far away from my original ‘WHY’ of starting in the first place.
One morning I woke up and said out loud “I don’t want to sell clothes anymore”.
And from then I knew I was done.
It was time for me to exit this business I’d created for myself. I then spent the next 3 months having difficult conversations with staff, suppliers, and customers about what was coming. I stopped ordering more products, I started discounting everything via a clearance sale, so that we had a good runway of not owing refunds after we closed.
I continued trading until my very last employee found another job, and then simply turned off the website.
This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make and it’s been filled with ALL of the emotions. This feeling of dis-alignment has been lingering for almost a year now and it got to a point of not being able to ignore it any longer.
I’m in the process of listing the business for sale, but despite my broker's distress that I’m no longer trading and every day that goes by is possibly less money we will get for the business, I just don’t care. Because when I made the decision to close, I knew that possibly meant I would never sell the business. But I’m exhausted and have always had a steadfast, unwavering faith that everything will be ok in the end. And it will.
I have made peace with that, like relationships, businesses too can be for a reason or a season and not always forever.
My business has been for a season of my life and career, and that’s ok.. One in which I’ve learnt an entirely new skill set launched another business and moved to a different business model.
I’m sharing this because I want to give other business owners that are at the cusp of expansion (or burnout), to always remain focused on the ‘why’ you started your business. Is it for a laptop lifestyle where you can work from anywhere?
Because if so, moving into a commercial office or warehouse with staff won’t serve that goal. Even if you have people running the business for you, there needs to be someone ‘running the people and that is a full-time job in itself.
I hope this heartfelt episode has been helpful to you and will help you re-align with your overarching goals for starting your business.
Perhaps you need to stop and course correct too and see if there's a better way that will serve you more or perhaps it’s time to wrap up a business that no longer serves you.
Some businesses are created for a reason.
Some last just a season.
And honestly very few last a lifetime.
But deciding when to step off the merry ground is a hard thing. And I hope this episode has helped.
Until next week,
Jodie

21. Influencer Horror Stories- The Greek Photographer
Welcome to the online store success podcast with me Jodie Minto. If you have or are planning on launching your very own online store, you are in the right place, my friend. I'm your host Jodie Minto and an award-winning eCommerce mentor online fashion business owner and speaker based on the central coast of New South Wales. I started my own online fashion store from scratch as a side hustle when I was working full-time in the corporate world, juggling young children and living in the Middle East. Today. That side hustle is a seven-figure-a-year online fashion brand with stockists and customers all over the world. Join me each week for Real Talk lessons and strategies that I used. In order to build up Island code to the million-dollar-a-year business, it is today. The lessons and strategies I share with you each week we'll help you build and scale your very own successful eCommerce fashion business too. Because I know how my life has changed for the better after launching my own business. And I want the same for you.
Welcome to today's episode of online store success where I'm sharing with you an influencer horror story.
I have many of these horror stories, but today I'm going to talk to you about one particular one, which I hope sharing with you will help you avoid the nightmare situation that I found myself in with this one.
I've worked with tonnes of influences over the past seven years or so, both in Australia and international influences, and boy do I have some horror stories. Yes, we've had some great success too. But it is one of those marketing strategies or campaigns that people often don't always have a great experience with. So I'm going to share one of my horror stories with you today.
Now I can't name names because I don't want to get sued. However, I will certainly share with you the story and also my lessons from that story. And hopefully, it's something that you can take away. And remember and know to try not to get stuck in a nightmare situation like this.

20. Why You Shouldn't Just Be Focused On Organic Social Media
This week on the Podcast I'm chatting about why often posting on social media feels like a bit, fat, waste of time and what you could do to amplify your efforts instead.
If I had a dollar for every post I've seen from well-meaning business owners asking 'when's the best time to post on Instagram', I'd be currently sipping expensive champagne on a yacht somewhere fancy.....
You see trying to 'trick' the algorithm isn't the best strategy. In fact it's not a strategy at all (sorry). There are no 'hacks'. Instead, we need to understand that social media platforms are very much a 'pay-to-play' space for businesses now, with organic reach dropping year on year.
If you feel like you've been wrestling with the algorithm long enough, have a listen to today's podcast episode.
You can listen to the full episode here.

3. How to use List Building and Email Marketing to increase sales on your eCommerce store
List building, aka growing your mailing list by collecting email addresses, is such an important part of the eCommerce business. These emails or people are your leads and the most likely customers to buy your products. You can market to them and share your campaigns and sales to entice them to perhaps make that first purchase, and from there to rebuy and be a long term customer.
List building is also important if your business plan for your ecommerce store is to sell it one day. A buyer is going to ask you, how big is your database and how many people have subscribed? Because that list ultimately means clients. And ultimately, the size of your list will definitely determine how much you can ask for your business.

2. Ten Crucial Elements of a million dollar eCommerce store
Your eCommerce website is the equivalent of a brick and mortar shop front - first impressions are everything. Think about shopping in person at your local shopping centre or mall. When you approach a new store for the first time, would you stick around for long if there were boxes everywhere blocking your path? If there was inches of dust in the window display, cobwebs around, would you be willing to stay? How about if you have a question or want to try something on - what if there was no sales assistant there to help you? We need to consider the user experience of our website visitors the same way you would if they were visiting you in real life. That is, you need to make a great first impression and help guide them through your store in order to make a sale.
Obvisiouly we can’t do that as easily online, however there are 10 crucial elements that will help you do that online in order to scale your business to a million dollar a year eCommerce store like mine, iland co.
