Today, I' d love to share my thoughts about the process of  entering art universities in Japan. A little bit about my background- in 2011, I finished a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. I graduated from an art university called Tokyo Zokei University, one of the five best-known art universities in Tokyo. I’d like to introduce three feminist manga that deserve more international recognition. If you don’t read Japanese, please let me apologise first—None of the three manga has English translation as of now! Today, I’d love to talk about a theme very close to my heart: why does performing as a belly dancer tend to be financially strenuous? How can we improve the situation?　A little bit of background first. I have been performing belly dance professionally since 2016, and teaching belly dancing since 2014. In Tokyo, I did this in addition to a day job. Then in 2023, I relocated to a semi-rural area in the US. Since then, I’ve been performing more in community and volunteer settings. Therefore, my experience as a professional performer is skewed towards Tokyo.
